The Duck Beefeater in Birmingham

Tried to book table for lunch on two occasions but the automated voice told me nothing was available! So why are they advertising lunch menus? Why is it impossible to speak to a human being these days? Complete waste of time and energy!

The outside wasn’t looking great and inside a bit tired- however, big shout out to Naomi B - made me feel very welcome and had great service. Lovely steak dinner -cooked to perfection. Thank you Naomi - will def come back.

We arrived at the Premier Inn quite late so thought we'd nip in to Beefeater for dinner rather than try anywhere further afield. The staff were lovely, service was great and food was nice. I was really looking forward to breakfast the next morning however this turned out to be quite disappointing. We had to order our breakfast rather than help ourselves which was absolutely fine and the waitress told us it was 'better this way'. It makes it a bit awkward with regards the unlimited option as you don't always know whether you'll want seconds before you've started eating. When our breakfast arrived it was like a plate of sadness. The beans and mushrooms had clearly been sitting around a while and were dry. Despite the menu stating, as per usual, that there was orange juice available, there was none. I asked if could have some orange juice and was told that they only offer 'tropical'. This turned out to be squash. The real litmus test was seeing my husband, a human Labrador, admit defeat and decide not to finish his brekkie. All in all a bit disappointing.

The food was great the the staff were good especially the service. The place was nice and quite. Its ashame that there is nothing for the children to do. Will use again

Lovely restaurant, beautiful breakfast cooked fresh to order and brilliant staff. Stuart and Selina were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble and they sorted out the Premier Inn having missed our breakfast booking and telling me it was too late to do it! Stuart's response was that no-one misses breakfast on his watch, and the admin was their problem to sort out. Thanks folks, we will be back to see you soon.

It looks a bit run down from walking round from the car park to the entrance, could do with a tidy up and the paths a bit uneven. It was very quiet when we went in, its a huge place. We were quickly seen to and bought drinks over and not long after ordered the food which came quite quickly. I wouldn't say its amazing food, very average but nice enough. We didn't have puddings, but saw another family having them and they looked really good! The lady was very polite, I guess she was in charge and was doing a great job attending to everyone by herself.

What can I say breakfast is always amazing and the hospitality of Naomi and stu is 2nd to none with a wide selection of continental and cooked breakfast, the restaurant is clean and tidy warm and very pleasant and your always looked after never to much trouble to give you what you won’t, and a big well done to the chef as the cooked breakfast is always hot and with you in minutes

Honestly, don't see why people hate the service here. Very friendly, atmosphere is excellent. Staff handled it very well when my wife and I got into shouting match over Kevin staying at the house. (He is my wife's boyfriend and I disagree with him on many topical issues. #BREXIT) Not anyones fault except our own (And Kevin, that cheeky rascal.) Love the carvery here.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Unfriendly and patronising staff. The female manager won’t listen to customers’ concerns regarding discrepancies in prices of the drinks they serve. In fact they kept ridiculing me in the restaurant making my stay really unpleasant.

I visit the Beefeater every couple of weeks, they always keep the table I like free. Staff are super friendly and helpful, food is always lovely and is reasonably priced, never had a bad experience here. Keep up the good work guys!

We visited The Duck beefeater on 2 occasions. The first time I took my partner there for his birthday. On arrival the staff was very pleasant and welcoming our table was ready so we didn't have to wait. The staff member introduce herself as Naomi and she explained that she would be our server she was very confident and supportive when she help us with the menus and making choices that suit our dietary needs. The restaurant was clean and well keep and the toilets also. The food was very well prepared and enjoyable. The second time we went there we took the children for breakfast again was greeted by Naomi she explained the breakfast detail and we had a pleasant experience. I would recommend this restaurant as it was very accommodating restaurant

Excellent place to gave a good lunch and meet up with friends. Staff are all very friendly and attentive. Naomi especially goes out of her way to ensure everything is ok. Would recommend to anyone.

Our waiter Huxley was great. We had a nice welcome - Huxley was very polite & attentive, despite the busy lunch time. Sunday roast was delicious, the only downside was the sprouts which could have done with another 5 minutes cooking. Would eat here again.

went ( 3 of us ) on Sunday Aug 4 for lunch at 2 pm.on arrival we were told they had run out of roast lamb and beef and had only one chicken left.they had only been open for 2 hours......service was not good either...

What can I say? We were looked after by a gentleman called Leon and the service was amazing and the experience was impeccable! The food was excellent, constantly asked if we required additional choices! I feel spoilt rotten and it weren’t my birthday! Definitely recommend and we will definitely visit again!

Three of us popped into The Duck for lunch on the way to the cricket yesterday. We could not have been more impressed with the safe layout in these strange times, but also the genuine warmth and helpfulness from the staff we spoke to. Smiles a-plenty, very accommodating, and the food was great too. A real win. Thanks guys.

The restaurant is nice and clean the staff were really friendly and helpful. Leon went above and beyond to help us and made a meal with the family extra special.

We were staying in the Premier Inn next door whilst visiting our daughter at University. We booked a table at The Duck for dinner yesterday (Saturday).The service we received from Leon our waiter was fabulous, my wife is gluten free and my son is dairy free, and Leon was so accommodating and helpful, a real credit to the restaurant.Thank you very much, we will definitely be coming again when next in Birmingham.

I visited here on a typical grey summer's day in June. Immediately on arrival we were met by a very pleasent member of staff by the name of Eve who showed us to our table and took our order. The whole afternoons experience was excellent, the food was very good, tasty, good sized portions and value for money. Eve was friendly and attentive throughout and is an asset to the company. Very well done to all concerned the experience brightened up what was a very gloomy day!

I couldn't rate this place enough! Came to Birmingham for a weekend away, ate here all weekend due to the excellent food and amazing staff. Couldn't fault the food at all. Steak was cooked to perfection. The service was fab, Corey made it even more special, polite and such good service. He made us feel very relaxed and welcomed. Breakfast was lovely and the manager on was so lovely. Definitely worth the 2hr 30 min drive!! We will be returning!

So we dropped in with no booking and Corey met us and was utterly delightful and great to deal with. As soon as we were trying to book in a duty manager who I understand is Naomi was officious and rude!So the positives. Corey. He is an absolute credit to this pub. Polite, attentive and always ready to serve.So the negatives. Naomi. Comes across rude and breaking the Covid rules by hugging guests (yes I witnessed it with my own eyes).The food came out quickly and was great can't complain.So for me. Naomi needs to have some lessons from Corey on guest management as she is clrealy missing the mark right now!

Came here to take advantage of the eat out promotion. A lot of effort made to provide a safe environment with a one way system, sanitizer, track and trace and tables well separated. Although it was early evening and quiet there was a nice feel.We just ordered main courses including a rump steak, chicken melt and surf and turf. Although it is a pretty standard menu the food was hot and tasty but not over generous portions. Good location with ample parking and easy to reach by public transport too.Staff are nice and helpful despite difficult trading at the time.

The fish and chips are superb and the ambiance is nice. We ate here twice when we stayed in Birmingham because it was close to our Air B&B and we liked the food so we tried something different each time and ate off of each other's plates so that we could enjoy more tastes. I would of course eat here again. Visited late fall 2019.

We stayed there for a night just before the second lockdown. The restaurant is nice and clean and has a one way system. The food was OK, not brilliant. A few items were not available on the menu as they were preparing to shut not ordered everything and that's understandable, but tell people when you give them the menu. When the food arrived, items were missing and the waiter did rectify this but we overheard the conversation and it appeared the waiter didn't write things down. Not sure if he was new or everyone is a bit fed up and was ready to be furloughed. Either way, when you are paying you do expect decent service. Breakfast was better then evening meal. It's a good location and will probably stay again.

Brilliant covid safe environment. The food was fantastic, and the service was brilliant! Really friendly and helpful staff which made our little night away so lovely Thank you so much, especially to the lad who served us, so sorry I forgot to get his name. We will definitely come again.

The man who welcomes you into the pub is rude and on a power trip. Accusing you of things you had no intention of doing. Needs to brush up on his people skills the jobsworth.

We didn’t stay here, we stayed next door however we ended up in the beefeater restaurant all night for drinks. An not wanting to attempt breakfast at our own hotel, the bar staff were very much happy to book us into premier inn breakfast! Loved the unlimited breakfast, fast service and very relaxed. Would recommend asking to be booked in if staying in hotel next door or near by.

Again everything was well cooked and nicely presented. The gentleman who served us was very willing, friendly and professional. We will definitely be returning.

Celebrated my moms 95th birthday here. Absolutely FIRST CLASS from start to finish. Food out of this world. Service excellent. Staff very friendly and efficient. Came here to get away from my hotel, 4 draught beers to choose from, standard menu, quick services, staff friendly and attentive, food good. Discounts are available if stopping at the adjacent hotel which seems unfair though.

Great service. Chef was so kind when I asked to not put the vegetables on my burger he didn’t ask why. The perfect place for some dinner when staying at the Cobden Hotel. Would HIGH RECOMMEND.

Was staying at the Premier Inn & my friend & I booked a table for 6.30pm, we had drinks in the bar first then when we asked if we could be sat at our booked table they said they had no booking for our name & they were full in the restaurant. The manager Naomi was very apologetic & we said we were happy to eat in the bar area. The food was amazing & all the staff were polite & friendly, it was a very busy night & they all did really well. Would definitely go & recommend this beefeater to my family & friends. Thanks again Naomi

Wonderful breakfast and superb waitress service thanks to the lovely Sophie. A family breakfast we enjoyed so much. The standard of customer service was exceptional. We think Sophie is the best Beefeater waitress of all time! Thanks for a lovely family treat in half-term.

Had to leave a review to praise Naomi for looking after us. After being let down at another restaurant despite booking she squeezed using even though they were busy. She also checked on us several times throughout the dinner.It is so rare to get such hood service now.We hadn't been to the duck for a while but will definitely be returning now.

I frequently visit the duck for a spot of lunch and a few drinks was even there last night valentines night when a bad review was left by a member of public just because they was asked to eat in the bar which has the same atmosphere as the restaurant as they hadn’t booked in advance. same menu the only difference is you order at the bar I can honestly say it is my favourite place the staff are excellent the fish and chips I have every time I go is the best I’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot for a man who enjoys his food I would also like to add that in the day there are usually only a couple of staff but they still manage to not only run a bar but serve meals with a smile

The breakfast was AMAZING very tasty and the continental had a lot of choices.No complaints and really enjoyed it. Would recommend 💯. The staff are very welcoming and polite also. The chef definitely has culinary skills

The occasion was a family gathering.

We came here for a round of drinks that would be way cheaper than TGIs next door where we went for tea. The wine is slightly cheaper but a pint is defo a pound cheaper. Not to busy and good service

Professional and friendly. They take the time to look after each customer and I couldn't believe how Sophie the barmaid remembered my drink from a previous visit. Brilliant

After arriving on a Saturday afternoon we noticed the place was empty. We Waited to be seated as a female staff member made eye contact but played on her phone... as we were seated I joked about how it was quiet compared to last year when we visited and she than engaged in some conversation. We browsed the new menu and ordered the grilled chicken salad and the mozzarella stuffed chicken. When the food arrived the presentation was basic and portion size was small considering we paid £27 for 2 mains which could have ordered from a Wetherspoons for almost half the price and looked and tasted the same. Over all I wouldn’t return to this brand again based on the recent visit with cold atmosphere and over priced food dishes.

This place has really gone up, the steak was really tasty and the burgers are yummy. We even seen the chef take food out which I thought was a nice touch. Service was genuine and friendly.... thanks to Gemma R and Stew.

Room as you would expect, great bed, great nights sleep but the restaurants gluten free option is very poor. Had very little and ended up with gammon, egg and chips and when you've paid 24.99 each you expect much better. Service was good though.

Great evening meal. Fast service great food had the Beef pie changed the mash for chips and had refills.

Called in early Monday evening, not many people in the restaurant. Service was OK but nothing special, the waiter kept pushing us to order more food than we wanted. When the food did arrive, it was nothing more than OK; the chips were small and a bit on the soggy side and the mushrooms served with the dish could have been cooked better. Should have sent both meals back but couldn't be bothered with the hassle, chalk it up to experience.

I have no idea what is going on with this place but the staff and management are incompetent and argue when you raise any complaints. I have been coming here for years and enraged for the first time. They over charge and don't deliver. They also don't seem to know their menu and give you whatever they think it is you ordered despite you specifically going over the order and cost of each item. Frustrated and very very disappointed.

Visited this restaurant on Sunday night having booked hoping to enjoy a Christmas meal off of the publicised Festive Menu.

This is a regular restaurant of ours and nothing is too much trouble for the staff that were serving today. All the food was well cooked and enjoyable. The lunch time menu is exceptionally good value for money

nosotros, siendo cuatro adluts, fuimos al pato el jueves por la tarde. El lugar estaba limpio y ordenado. El personal era acogedor y amable. El menú era extenso y la comida deliciosa. tres de nosotros tuvimos el pastel de carne y cerveza. era saludable y abundante, con puré y verduras mixtas. uno de nosotros tenía las costillas y, además, estaban deliciosas. Me gustaría hacer una mención especial a nuestra camarera, Naomi, que fue simplemente genial. ella es un crédito para el lugar.

Stopped here for breakfast whilst stopping at the hotel that's attached. The service was quick and friendly, it's eat as much as you want so if the sausage you receive is as small as the one I got order about three for one normal size! To be fair it was all cooked well and hot.

Good value for money - staff in the actual hotel were excellent and very helpful. This Premier Inn is linked to a Beefeater restaurant which is where breakfast is served. We decided to have the £9.50 breakfast which includes a cooked breakfast and continental buffet.

Visité con mi hermana, mi cuñado y mi esposo para el almuerzo del domingo, tuvimos una cálida bienvenida y tomamos nuestro pedido de bebidas y alimentos, optamos por el cordero, ordené que el mío estuviera bien ya que no me gusta el rosa carne, se hizo más que las otras pero aún no era suficiente para mi gusto, no se desperdició. Comí tanto como pude, mi esposo comió el resto, nunca había visto tantas verduras y papas asadas en mi vida. . Optamos por un poco de queso de coliflor, fue el mejor que he probado, vale la pena el dinero extra. ¿Lo único que me pareció extraño en una cena de cordero fue la salchicha y el relleno? Optamos por un entrante de sopa de champiñones, era encantador, me comí un poco de ginebra, que también era muy bueno. No nos apuraron de nuestra mesa después de nuestras 2 horas. Definitivamente regresaremos.

Muy agradable almuerzo de domingo. Es genial que puedas tener tantos pudines de Yorkshire como quieras junto con papas asadas y salsa sin costo adicional. La sopa de champiñones para empezar fue la más sabrosa que he probado en mi vida, tanto que no necesité condimentos. El cordero asado era suculento y lleno de sabor y la selección de verduras era fresca y muy caliente. Fuimos un grupo de 4 y todos llegamos a la misma conclusión: un maravilloso almuerzo dominical.

Dropped into here for breakfast on Sunday whilst staying at the hotel next door. The cooked breakfast itself was very good, but the waitress service throughout had a lot to be desired. It really doesn’t hurt to at least look like you are trying, or care, which sadly let the whole experience down. Otherwise the visit would have been very good

Terrible avoid unless you like meal swimming in water. Also run out of buffet quickly so expensive for cup of gray coffee not Costa as advertised!!

Came here on Friday 9th August for food with family booked for 6pm.. got sat down promptly by waitress who clearly looked as if she didn’t want to be there! Came back to take drinks order and a lovely blonde waitress brought them back to us and was a little more chatty! Order was taken and food was excellent massive shout out to the chefs all 4 of us really enjoyed our food. We then had our food cleared by the waitress who sat us down who then left us waiting for half an hour for our bill, ended up asking the blonde waitress for our bill. And then when we said we had a taste card she screwed the receipt up and went back to the till. Not great customer service if you ask me...

A standard menu, of course, but the food was served quickly, and was reasonably priced. There was a choice of two real ales available.

Usually we are very happy with this restaurant but unfortunately today my two friends were very unhappy with their meal.

We’ve been staying at the hotel behind the Beefeater and so have oid for breakfast every morning at the Beefeater. Sophie has been so friendly and helpful each morning and nothing has been a problem. When we arrived the first morning there had been what sounded like a full restaurant just before we got there so some tables weren’t cleared. Sophie apologised and explained why it looked the way it did. She settled us and explained where everything was then she set about cleaning the rest as she was the only member of waiting staff. Nothing was a problem and she ensured that we were happy. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Massive thank you to Charlotte, Chelsea, Amee and all the staff at the Duck Beafeater Birmingham for making our autistic six year old daughter Scarlet so welcome and taking time to be make her feel really special.

We decided to try the Duck Beefeater in Edgebaston after being in Birmingham and wanting to have a Family Lunch. We were very happy with all of our Lunches, we had speciality Burgers and the Children had burgers, we would definitely recommend to go to a Beefeater, they have really come up in my estimation! Really relaxed surroundings, delicious food, lovely staff (Chelsea was a great Waitress, she was helpful and attentive without being intrusive!). We will be trying other Beefeaters in the near future!!!
