This is a beautiful old pub with an inviting real flame gas fire. Went with my family of 6. The food & drink’s were served very quickly. We had a combination of six different main meals & everyone was more than happy with what they ate. Five of us dessert of apple, berry & rhubarb crumble & custard which was to die for. Only hiccup was when we arrived at 7.30 there was a live band playing. Now as good as they were & the songs they played, they were rather loud & we had to shout at one another to make ourselves heard. When booking I asked for the quiet part of the restaurant as 4 of our group being 60-+ in ages weren’t to keen on loud music as we’d have to shout over it. But all in all a great pub with wonderful food & hard working staff.

We had dinner at this delightful pub for the first time this evening. We shared the charcuterie as a starter and we both had the sea bass special which was delicious. My other half even managed the sticky toffee pudding. The food and drink prices were very reasonable by London standards and the staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely return.

This pub - now called just “The Duchess” has changed hands a lot over recent years. It is a beautiful building and has been nicely redecorated. But the food on our recent visit was quite disappointing. Quite a few dishes were off the menu, and what we did have - steak pie and burgers - was over cooked and tough. The whitebait starter were very good though. Add to that a feeling of being rushed - given the bill before we asked for it - and a very loud singer in the bar area which made conversation impossible, and we left early.

We had a fun time catching up with friends yesterday afternoon. Our friend had booked a table & we were given a large table for 7 people & were impressed by the airy, comfortable location. From the very start our waitress was attentive & did everything possible to make our visit a great one. Our vegan Wellington Roast dinner was cooked to perfection, with roast potatoes to die for. We had just enough room to polish off a delicious Vegan brownie, which I would highly recommend! Thanks for your attention to detail and for being very patient with our large group. We will definitely return!

The last owners of this pub were not up to scratch and it closed. The new owners though are more experienced in pubs and restaurants and have made a difference. The beers is competitively priced for Hammersmith/Chiswick area as a pint of Fosters sets you back £4. Glass of Trebbiand white 250ml £6.15. The food is not the best around but nice for a Sunday lunch. We tried the roast at £12.95 for the lamb and £10.95 for the beef. Both meats were a bit chewy but the trimmings were good. In all though will go again but have to say The Raven at the other end of the street a lot better.

So I decided to eat my pride and go back to this pub as it's the nearest to my house after a horrible experience in January. I went in and ordered food and a drink. The lunch was bland the bread hadn't been buttered and was rubbish sliced loaf for the sandwich. This area is full of artisan bakeries the residents aren't the mighty white types, know your audience!! I spoke to one of the waiters who had been on shift 6 months before when I'd had a disastrous get together birthday/ housewarming there and said I was giving it another go after a bad experience. When he recalled the night rather then re assure me or apologise again he said oh yes I remember you and your party weren't very pleasant!! I nearly fell off the chair. No we weren't because we had crap food and I got insulted. What don't this place get?? It's always empty it's gone out of business over the years more then I care to remember. You need to make changes and draw in more clients, give them better quality food and oh maybe something called customer service?.. Just a radical thought. Avoid it like the plague would be my advice. Shame but it needs a shake up.

This is a welcoming pub on the border of Chiswick and Shepherd's Bush. It is a spacious place, with a lovely courtyard, ideal for sunny afternoons and evenings. The staff are very friendly, and the range of beers, lagers and wines is extensive. The food is also excellent, family-friendly, and the Sunday roast is popular. It is ideal for functions, either downstairs, or in the upstairs room, where there is free Wednesday night comedy, which is a very friendly evening. All in all, it's a very nice place to spend some time, with family or friends, or just to read quietly in a corner. The 94 bus stops outside (Flanchford Road), as does the 237 (Stamford Brook Road), and it's 5 minutes from Stamford Brook tube. Sometimes there is sport on the TV, but it's always quiet, so can be watched or ignored, as you wish. I definitely recommend the Duchess of Cambridge. Ravenscourt Park is over the road, which is also worth a look. The pub has a traditional feel, and is certainly an asset to the neighbourhood.

5 of us out for lunch on a sunday, my bread and olives to start was fantastic,as was three others plates of olives, really good sized portion of mixed olives and lovely crusty warm ciabatta bread. my girlfriend had the mussels, omg they were rotten, the smallest mussels you have ever seen covered in the thickest cream sauce ever, it was like the cream had turned and resembled yogurt, oh my it was really bad. for the main course I had roast chicken, my god it was horrible, It smelt of mouldy lemons and tasted horrible. The rest of the plate was lovely, lovely fresh cooked veg and cauliflower cheese, nice roast potatoes, not crispy but nice all the same, nice yorkshire pudding and the gravy was decent. my mate had a chicken burger which he said was bracingly good as was my other m8's cheeseburger.my girlfriend had roast beef as did her mate. Both the beefs were horrible hard tough beef that was well over cooked and poor quality meat. Roasts were £8 Burgers £10, Starters were £3 bread n olives and £5-£6 for the mussels. As i say a bit hit and miss.service was ok, a young girl who probably didn't want to be there, she certainly looked like she was nursing a hangover. a smile would of been nice, the girl who took the order was friendly and smiley, russian or czech maybe? Beer was very good. Moretti on draught and both red and white wine we chose was good. I would go back for a drink and some bread and olives.

I booked a table here for me and some friends to celebrate my birthday and moving back into the area. I've been to this pub many times before over the years and in its different reincarnations that it goes through. The first issue was two of the girls had crab linguine which was awful and had table vinegar on it. I complained and they did deal with it very well and straight away offered to take them off the bill. The next more absurd problem was us discussing age, I casually said to the waiter "I bet your really young" his reply was "I'm at least 20 years younger than you!!" It wasn't at all funny and we were left astounded. We paid and left and as we passed the Windows on the way out could see him talking about us to his colleague (who actually was very nice) gutted I literally live across the road now but clearly this won't be my local. Not to mention it ruining my birthday and house warming eve.

We booked in for a large table, short notice Sunday lunch, as most other Chiswick pubs were full. Virtually empty when we arrived, and never really got above 1/3 full in the restaurant part, and only 1 or 2 in the bar. Having read some of the recent trip advisor reviews, we went in with low expectations, and the lack of custom seemed to back this up.However, we came away singing the place's praises. I had the roast beef which was very good - and certainly better than some of the Chiswick favourites. Most others had some form of mix and match burger - everyone thought they were great to. Nicely laid out pub, and nicely decorated. Such a shame it has poor footfall, and the locals don't use it more. Try it, you could be pleasantly surprised.

I was waiting so long for my food to be served that I had to go up to the bar and ask them it had caught the next Piccadilly line to Heathrow. I couldn't work out the reason for such a long delay as when I ordered I was the only person in the restaurant. I think they forgot to serve the food after it was prepared, as 1 minute after asking for its whereabouts my meal miraculously arrived. The meal was warm and fast heading towards room temperature. My requested medium cooked steak was well-done and the chips were soggy. I guess that was thanks to the heat lamp my meal had been sitting under for the last 30 minutes or so. Consistent high quality food and service maketh a restaurant. Unfortunately, not in my case at The Duchess of Cambridge.

Opposite this pub is a clue to its origins. On the wall above the door to the left of the large arch across the road is a star surrounded by the letters LGOC, which stood for the London General Omnibus Company which had a depot in the mews opposite the pub in the days of horse drawn buses. So this was a bus drivers local and lunch pub.Nowadays they offer all day breakfast, burgers, steaks, cod and chips and lots more. Under new management after the previous iteration closed down, it seems this is a tough place to get right. It's not helped by the location - right by a mini roundabout junction of two main-ish roads. It's also hampered by it's size - it has two very large very high ceiling rooms which make the place seem very empty if there aren't many people there. We went at lunchtime and it was very quiet - with the resulting lack of atmosphere. If it was busier I'd imagine the place would cheer up immensely.Decent selection of real ale, friendly and helpful barman, good range of nibbles. The food was pretty average - perfectly decent but nothing to write home about. There were boards advertising quiz (tuesdays) and comedy (wednesdays) nights and we might wander back to give one of them a go, and see if the place is any livelier.

Party of 6 for lunch, and had waited almost an hour for meal after placing order. As it was pleasant sitting in the Spring sunshine supping beers we weren't in a rush, but eventually felt obliged to chase up the food as the time ticked on and on. No quibbling or excuses: they had messed up; instantly admitted to it; instantly apologised; and equally instantly proffered a round of free drinks to the party - our choice.Food is above average mainstream pub fare; good selection of unusual real ales, some served on gravity, cider, and some less common lagers.Spacious, light and airy. Would use again.

My wife loves a "Sunday Roast" when she is in the UK. We were planning to be in the Chiswick area and did a bit of research before selecting The Duchess of Cambridge. I guess I was not expecting too much because a lot of pub food is mediocre.Wow - the Sunday Roast was the best I have had in the UK. The beef was excellent quality, no fat or grisly bits, just juicy beef. The Yorkshire pudding was the largest I have ever seen and very tasty. The potatoes were roasted in their skins and also amazing. If you are a real beer fan then there is also a wide range of well kept cask beer to sample.I would recommend The Duchess of Cambridge to family and friends for a great pub lunch.

This has become a regular local - a friendly pub with a great choice of real ales, craft beers, continental bottled beers, and ciders and frequent festivals of guest beers (like the recent Oktoberfest), and some great wines. Food menu changes frequently to match the drinks festivals, although there are some regulars like the Sunday roasts. Nice atmosphere and a range of events, from live music and comedy to top sports events (with the TVs sensibly turned off when no events are on). A proper community pub that's a welcome addition to the area.

My Husband and I visited The Duchess of Cambridge last Sunday during a full day out to Windsor. I wanted to eat in this pub as part of our royal themed day, I'd also heard that this was the only establishment named 'The Duchess of Cambridge in the whole of England. We were very warmly welcomed and immediately handed the lunch menu. Despite being quite busy we were not rushed along and the very pretty waitress took the time to give her recommendations as well as being very knowledgable about the wine list. We chose the Sunday roast which was excellent, and with the castle in view it suited our royal day out perfectly. This is our second visit and we would definitely recommend this lovely foodie pub, with it's fine food and attentive service even we felt like royalty.

This handy organic and friendly pub does exactly what it says on the tin. Great choices of beers ales and wines. Food and service fab my only criticism are the seats indoors as they can be a bit rickety and a little uncomfortable other than that it's perfect. Well done keep it up!Children always very welcome too!

We stumbled on this pub by accident. The barman was so welcoming, the choice of beer and cider was fantastic and the menu was good. We had a sort of British tapas- choice of 4 dishes for £10, which was perfect for lunch- welsh rarebit, beer battered black pudding, chicken wings, cod goujons, chips to name a few of the choices. Thoroughly recommended.

My husband and I are regular visitors to this amazing pub. We take our two children aged 8 and 4 with us at various times and they always welcomed. The selection or Ales is second to none and the food is outstanding I would highly recommend the Sunday Roast. We have even eaten here with a large party of 22 all ordering roast dinners. They were cooked to perfection and bought out together. The childrens menu is great also offering child size roast dinners. We will continue to visit this pub in years to come. A huge well done to the managers Simon and Ruth.

This is a real-ale destination pub in Chiswick/Stamford Brook, serving a wide range of traditional beers, stouts and ciders, plus a range of good food. It was "porter and stout month", so they had 5 or 6 dark beers available. THose I tried were all in good condition. With a pie-of-the-week (beef and onion) this made for a warming and substantial supper. They were gearing up for a New Year party/lock-in but still very welcoming to us as early diners and after a bit of confusion about the order the food and service were fine. As CAMRA members we got 50p reduction for each pint plus a pie and pint deal!

What a gem this place is!! Fantastic for real ale fans as it has a genuinely huge selection if ales. We were able to sample all ales on offer before settling on a first pint. Such great beer! Food looks fab too with a great selection of old pub style hot snacks to help the ale flow. I feel this place becoming a regular haunt...

My friend had read about this establishment in a pub review and felt it was worth a visit because of its range of Real Ales and the fact that they also did food. It was an uxepected delight! Not bring a real ale fan it was great to be served by someone who let me sample all of the beers available. I settled on a couple of local brews which were quite tasty. I ordered a main meal which was freshly cooked and was excellent. It was hot, and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The chips were were cooked with their skins on and tasted lovely. My friend ordered a selection of cheese which we couldn't eat because there was too much but they could have given us a little more bread. The cheese wasn't wasted because we shared out what was left and took it away. You must try the battered black pudding! The decor was just what I wanted in a pub, a bit rustic and cottage like. I can't recall if there was music, but if there was it must have been very low level. It is well worth another visit. I got the impression it was well used at weekends so perhaps mid week would be best for a relaxed atmosphere.

Sunday Lunch was delightful with little extras like the current Beer Festival with hundreds of unknown (to me) beers and ales and a make it yourself Bloody Mary at the bar with 16 different hot sauces etc. Lunch was great and service personal. Easy to get to with a bus stop right outside the door. Garden tables, bar or dining area seating, or out front, plus Sunday newspapers. Has changed hands (used to be the Queen of England, now the future queen of England) Relaxed atmosphere and we enjoyed a leisurely afternoon with our friends over drinks before and after lunch. Enough room between tables that we could actually hear our conversation!

This pub has gone down hill. Have been on two occasions and both times they had no draught lager. Sold me expensive bottle beers. The food was awful. I live in the same street but will not go back again.

This site appears to be doomed. No one who opens up here...and there have been many, seems to last. Access is fine with even a bus stop outside, and parking is fine, so what's the problem? On entry, the bar looks great with a huge selection of bottles, excellent beers on tap (I understand they will be brewing their own soon) and some very fine ciders, but oh dear, the restaurant is a bit of a let-down.I do not relish having to complain, and maybe it was because the new incarnation has only been open for a short time, but the bar staff were also the wait staff, and there were far too few to do a thorough job. There were delays, the pie of the day had run out (only one other table eating when we were there), and you have to go to the bar to order your food. The competition is way ahead here!I want them to succeed (I'm a local), but do the owners want this to be a pub, or a pub with a restaurant? If the former, then scrap the menu, go back to the 70s and give 'em crisps and nuts, but if they want the latter, then put in more tables, get more staff, spruce up the menu, speed up the kitchen, and don't run out of food (or the wine we wanted!). I hope to go back and see (and experience) a difference...
