Enjoyed a delightful lunch at the Drum. Had the split pea soup with rustic bread, and side of chips, perfectly made. Delicious!

Gave this 5* last time we visited, not so good now, AVOID the scampi it’s not scampi it’s the cheapest mushed up white fish Bookers can supply, even the bread crumbs are nasty. Partner had ham egg and chips, only one egg but lots of ham. Beer good and well kept, staff indifferent, not worth a special journey anymore. Sad.

Really disappointed. Booked Sunday lunch in advance but did not realise that pub has recently changed hands. Very limited menu (choice of roast lamb or roast chicken) and that was it. Online menu had suggested there was a variety of options even for a Sunday lunch. Nothing else on offer. Standard of cooking was poor. Roast potatoes way overdone. Won't be going again.

My wife and I had Sunday lunch in this lovely country pub which was very warm and clean with a great pint of beer and pleasant wine. The landlady was very friendly, welcoming who I believe was the chef for our meal which was served just as we like it. Good quality lanb and vegetables cooked as we like it at home not mass produced frozen food from a wholesaler and reheated in a microwave. Keep up the good work we will return.

Staying in the area for a few days, we were recommended The Drum and Monkey and duly visited. Large sign outside reading “Best Pub for Miles” so we were hopeful. What a disappointment. No welcome by the staff, a couple of locals at the bar and someone yelling on the phone. The pub resembled a Welsh tearoom and was cold. Eventually got served and no problem with the drinks ordered. Simple menu on a board on the bar but no others in sight. Would not recommend.

Myself and my husband were staying in the area for the weekend and visited this pub on the Friday night. The landlady was welcoming and friendly and the food was brilliant. My husband had a pie and I had homemade lasagna, we both had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert. Every bit was delicious. Thank you! If ever we found ourselves in the area again we would definitely return.

Booked this over the phone , reviews said camping was £22 a night , we got charged £30 so prices must have increased, didn't question it with the landlady as we were having food and drinks , booked a table for 7 pm , food was good , and thought we may have got a little discount off the bill with paying £30 as some places do give it you back off your food bill spent £75 on this , so All in all a dear night stopover !!! £105 . Toilets could do with a good clean, and only 1 shower worked and that was just about capable of being called a shower, ok as a one off . One of our party only eats chicken , and has it plain , no chicken offered only in brie and parma ham which wasnt available anyway , so had to have chicken nuggets and chips as an adult meal , found the landlady quite rude about this , and also when asking for sauces shouted have you already ordered them ? We had but also wanted mayo and vinegar too , attitude was a little off putting 😒 not sure if that's how it is , or just a bad day 🤔

A mile or so outside of Upton upon Severn, the Drum and Monkey is a delightful pub that sells a cracking pint of Butty Bach and excellent food. Probably not the biggest menu going, but I prefer this, but the food on offer is good value and good quality. We’ve stopped here a number of times over the past few months and tried various meals off the menu. The gammon is excellent as are the pies which are crammed full of meat and very tasty indeed. My wife particularly loves the fish dish (sea bass). Zoe, the bar person when we usually call in, is a delight with a great sense of humour and Liz the licensee clearly knows how to run such a business. The pub has a large area for caravans and campers which is clearly popular throughout the year and with such a pub on site, I can understand why.

Booked a table of 6 for a lads reunion Sunday Lunch. Specials board was unavailable as it was Mothers Day so we all had the roasts (we had beef, lamb, pork and 1 person had the chicken) - the food was all delicious and portions were really big. Liz (landlady) and her team were very friendly and attentive. The pub was dog friendly and our Lab was a bit overtired and reactive so Liz even went to get a dog treat for him. Unfortunately we didn’t stay for dessert but we would definitely come back when in the area!

We hadn’t been to this pub for some while, but decided to call in one weekday evening for a drink. We weren’t sure it was open when we drove onto the car park as there were few cars on the car park, but fortunately it was open and we were greeted by a charming young lady who was chatty and very efficient. I had a pint of Butty Bach which was delightful and my wife enjoyed her coffee so we decide to have a meal. I opted for a homemade steak and Stilton pie with chips and veg £11.95 and the wife chose a fish pie £13.25. Both meals went down well as did a further Butty. The Stilton didn’t come through in my pie, but the meat was tender and plentiful and it was a real pie and most enjoyable.I have no doubt that we will call in again in the not too distant future as we enjoyed our food, drinks and visit.

Great campsite for exploring Upton and Malvern. Chilled out site. Only downside is the toilet and shower block. It’s unclean, sometimes without toilet roll and soap. The showers are woeful too. When people are washing up no water comes out of them, then they go cold, then water warms up, then dribbles again due to poor pressure etc. Cubicle doors don’t lock. I wouldn’t say they’re great for families, I was scared to put anything down because the place was dirty.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend you book to eat at the Drum and Monkey until they resolve their booking process issues. I was visiting the area with family, so I planned for meals in advance and booked a table for 9 for my nephew’s birthday a week in advance. I received a call from the manager on my answerphone, which I saw later in the evening, the night prior to our booking saying the reservation had been cancelled with no reason given, and no apology. I phoned the following day to enquire about the reason and was told that someone had taken the booking but they had no tables available and the manager had only checked the bookings the night before. I find this quite unprofessional and would like to recommend that training is given to staff about taking bookings and that bookings can only be made if tables are available. Also it would be sensible to check what bookings are in place several days in advance so that if any errors have been made the customer can be notified in advance which will allow them to make alternative arrangements.

Have rarely witnessed such awful customer service as I have this evening! We booked a table for 6.30 and were told upon booking we couldn’t be any later because of bookings coming in at 7pm. I understood this and as we were bouncing on the time (turned up at 6.31pm) made sure we had chosen our food from the on-line menu available. My husband was ordering the drinks when a lady (assuming the owner) came out and asked (rather brusquely!) whether we had signed in - even though we hadn’t been asked to by the lady serving drinks!! So we signed in at 6.33pm and then went to sit down and order our food. The owner came out and again pointed out that the order needed to be placed soon and I explained we were 99% certain as to what we wanted. We placed our order and the food was brought out at approximately 7.06pm. The ‘rush’ had arrived by then and another 3 people had turned up for food!I wish we had turned around and found somewhere more inviting. All I can say is I’m glad it’s not my local!

Monday evening was very quiet with only four of us eating but locals enjoying an evening drink created a pleasant atmosphere of a country pub. Pre dinner drinks ordered and menus arrived offering a wide choice all of which are freshly cooked which suited us fine enabling pleasant conversation with our friends. Each of us ordered something different and all arrived at the table at the same time so we were able to tuck in together something that appears to be lacking in neighbouring establishments! I had ordered the liver and bacon as only I like in my family, so when it arrived Liz, the owner was anxious that it lived up to my expectations and I can assure it did, tasty pan fried liver and perfectly grilled bacon, my mouth is watering as I write!Thoroughly recommended go and visit enjoy the food and ignore negative comments!

At 8:30 a couple arrived and had there order taken, locals apparently have an alternative time universe. We asked why as we were staying for four nights they could not accommodate us. The barman said the landlady’s decision was final. As is ours; we and our friends will make sure we don’t trouble them again this year, have cancelled our ccc booking for next, and will patronise the many accommodating establishments in Upton whilst at the blues festival.

We were on route home and stopped at Strensham service station on the M5/M50 junction. We wanted a meal but something different to what the service station was offering. I did a quick search and found The Drum and Monkey which was only 6 miles away (12min).

Called in after a long Sunday walk at 2.30pm and we served although technically we had missed the lunch period. Super Sunday lamb roast and sea bass hit the spot. Returned later that week one evening and again had great home made pies. The place was rammed with the local Young Farmers which gave a lively evening. If you want good honest pub food look no further.

We arrived early, wanting to miss the rush as this pub had such good reviews we thought it was bound to be busy. We walked into an empty pub (it appears the landlady and the barman has decided to wee/smoke at the same time). The dog who welcomed us was friendly, but unfortunately incapable of pouring a pint. When we asked if we could eat we were told there was a table of 5 booked and they would take precedence- no problem, we weren’t in a rush (although alarm bells were starting to ring).

We arrived on a little early on Saturday afternoon to stay at the pods, decided to fill our hour with a beer (ok, 2)! Liz was lovely, even giving one of our children a ‘special plaster’ after he fell over. They also definitely appreciated her lollipops.

Visited the restaurant several times during our five night stay. Food and Service was brilliant, taking into account how busy they were with the camping field full! The Sunday roast beef lunch was the best! Thank you. Yes we will return ......

We agree with the last review from louise a the manageress was not very friendly at all and quite abrupt with some of the customers. We had booked a table for 8 people at 7pm, We were told that we might have a bit of a wait to take our order as they were busy(it didn't look that busy) and were told by the inexperienced waitress who seemed to be doing everything that a few items on the menu were unavailable she had to keep going backwards and forwards to the kitchen to check. The food eventually arrived at 8.15, no one came to check if everything was ok. Waited again for ages to try and order desserts..We will not be returning here again.

We booked online and were told they couldn’t then find our booking, they then eventually did. Upon arrival, the owner/manageress never offered any warm welcome at all. She looked miserable the whole time we were there and didn’t greet any customer warmly. I felt sorry for the young waitresses who seemed to be doing all of the hard graft with little managerial support. We had to ask for a menu and ask to order as table service was erratic, with the staff keep frantically looking at their booking lists- obviously their system clearly needed some work. The ambience was uninspiring. The food was good but that was let down by the hostility coming from this one woman. When we go out for a meal, you pay for the atmosphere and as this wasn’t there I shall not be returning in a hurry, it doesn’t matter how good the food is. It is a shame as we are local but I can list countless other places that offer a warm welcome on arrival and you feel valued as a customer. The restaurant wasn’t even busy so I would hate to see how they run when it is busy. A shame as a lovely building.

Had a lovely birthday meal here. Lots of mains choice for gluten free eaters (not as much in the pudding range) and we had beautifully cooked steaks, colourful vegetables and tasty local ice creams. Huge log burner kept us warm, great food and very friendly, attentive staff made a very enjoyable relaxing evening. Will return - highly recommended.

Decided to give the drum and monkey a try for a meal on Saturday night after coming to their fireworks display in November. The menu looked great and I hoped it lived up to my expectations. Some fairly daft comments from other trip advisor reviews didn’t put us off and I’m pleased to say we couldn’t have been happier. Our food was delicious and the staff were all really friendly. I can recommend the chicken with stuffed Brie and the Stilton sauce I had as a side. All really fresh and tasty! Thank you very much, Liz, we’ll be back!

A warm welcome is the best I can say about our dinner for three, as two of did not enjoy our meals. My mushroom starter tasted of cooking oil. The fish pie didn’t taste of much at all and was a bit watery and the lemon slice was buried inside it. (frozen Fishermans Pie from Tesco’s is £1 and tastes much better).

We always wanted to test this pub. Came in on January for a light lunch. Nice staff. Decent if not memorable sandwiches. But, my God, it was so cold. We kept our coats and left as soon as possible. The toilets were even more freezing.

We haven’t been to The Drum & Monkey for a while but liked the look of the Christmas Menu and booked for 8. The food was fantastic - Without exception, but if I get the chance I’m going back for another Beef Wellington. Plenty of veg including plenty of parsnips.

Myself and a friend visited The Bridge for the Sunday Carvery. It was excellent and superb value for money! We had the carvery and a pudding which was also excellent.

Staff are extremely friendly and always up for a great laugh. Portion sizes are very large, great value for money. Wide range of drinks to suit either a quiet night out or even a messy one. Amazing atmosphere all around be it in the restaurant or the bar. I discovered this little gem on accident, it was a very happy accident and I will be returning without a doubt. Thanks Garry and team

When we got there, we saw a sign that said 'overflow car park'. Absolutely accurate, the river had overflowed into the car park, which was now a pond. Service was a little slow to start with but then improved. Food was excellent, so was the company and the atmosphere. Defo going back some time.

Four of us had a light lunch here yesterday. We had hoped to sit outside by the lake but it was cold so we were in the bistro which is lovely. We all ordered sandwiches which were delicious and presented beautifully with a small selection of dressed salad leaves . We all had banana sponge pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream - a bit like sticky toffee pudding but even better. The staff were immaculately turned out, and genuinely welcoming and helpful. This is such a lovely place and we will definitely be back before long.
