The Drift in City of London, Westminster

Met up for lunch with friends and had one course each. Some of us had a drink, all had coffee. Is £130 expensive? Maybe - but the food was excellent, and the wines good. Freshly squeezed orange juice a surprising absence from the menu. Some rather intrusive thumpy-bumpy music was playing as we arrived, but was either turned down or the track changed. Well recommended.

Came here for pre-theatre dinner and cocktails before jumping on the Liverpool Street tube to Embankment and heading to the national theatre. We prefer something a bit more upbeat rather than a stuffy dining room experience and were not disappointed, from the DJ providing music to the modern menu & cocktails it was the perfect level of fun mixed with great service. The food tasted divine and was on our table within 10 minutes of ordering it; hot, fresh and full of flavour.

Really disappointed in this bottomless brunch. The food was fine but that was the only thing we enjoyed. There was completely no atmosphere with tables arriving and leaving all the time. We were expecting themed 90’s/00’s entertainment and there was just a dj playing background...

I love the Drift. Menu is always amazing for me with a vegan diet. Only problem was they seated all the groups together on the mezzanine so there were only three tables but the noise was intense. Also only one server who tried her best but with two large tables it was a challenge and part of the order was wrong but the food and drink was still excellent. Lovely place on a sunny day.

Food was pretty mediocre. The menu needs a lot of work, very plain. Steak massively overcooked. Lovely atmosphere and staff though, just shame about the food.

The staff member that greeted us, and showed us to our table was lovely. Cocktail menu (and drinks) we loved. Food very good and excellent value.

It wasn’t bad it just never happened they phoned and said that due to the lack of people coming to eat there that evening my Reservation was cancelled They asked me if I wanted to eat somewhere else and they would place me with a sister restaurant. I said I would and I waited for them to send me an address and name of the restaurant. They never did send the new reservation. Therefore I ended up going somewhere else

Chicken burger was bland, vegan burger was so disgusting it was inedible.

Presentation of food was ok for the price. Expected more from this place especially in terms of service. The main waiter who served us was quite rushed too. Overall not bad ambience though

Went for lunch. Food just ok for the price. Downstairs is nice but so noisy. Our table was sticky on arrival. Waitress looked non plussed. Very noisy which is ok if you're out drinking for the day but not a spot for chat and quiet lunch.

Some of the tables were compromised and hard to get in to and out of. The waiter had a dirty shirt on. Service was slow and it was difficult to attract the staff's attention. The food was OK though.

Unfortunately, the restaurant wasn’t open. We turned up for our reservation booked through Open Table and the restaurant had no signs of life. We had to try and find somewhere else last minute.

It was more like a bar for mates than a restaurant. The food was ok - nothing special. They had lots of vegan options which was good. I wasn't impressed by the service and I won't be returning.

The menu was not the same we saw when we booked a table. One of the main courses ordered came cold. The wine left some questionable residue in one of our glasses…. It looked like thin twigs. No dessert offered before the kitchen closed. Overall experience: terrible! Upon complaint we received excuses for all the mistake and the poor service. Most of the bill was cancelled, however we shall not come back or recommend this place.

The restaurant itself was really nice, well situated and easy to get to but the availability of the menu let them down. Everything we ordered they said they hadn’t got - it was 6.15 on a Saturday! The food we did have was ok. It was a shame as it was my husband’s 60th birthday treat from the kids. The restaurant itself was buzzing and had a good atmosphere.

Great venue close to Liverpool Street and the city. Really enjoyed the marmite Mac and cheese. Service was very friendly and attentive.

Sunday morning at the drift was great. Food excellent, really quick service. There was live music too from around 1300 if you like that.

We had a great long lunch at the Drift on Friday - there were good Covid precautions in place so we felt very safe, even though it got busy later on. The food was very tasty and our waitress was very attentive.

Great venue for after works drinks. Friendly staff and a nice ambience and reasonable attention to the current safety measures. The food menu was good and very tasty. Definitely on my go to venue list when meeting friends after work. Also handy that it is located near Liverpool Street station.

First day it opened service excellent food very good.

Service was first class as always and the setting for a business mea is really good but we did the classic British thing of when asked if everything was alright, we said yes but the truth is the food was very poor. The chicken burger was so over cooked that it was more crispy batter than chicken and the chips were cold. The lamb was pretty tough and all the food we felt had been under the heat lamps for a bit too long. I really like the drift and will definitely be back because I know this is just a little minor dip. The drift waiting staff are brilliant and the lady that showed us to the table was extremely friendly and helpful and a top class “welcome to the drift” smile

The food was delicious and the drinks were great but the service was quite disorganised. About 5 different members of staff approached us asking to order, there was no organisation when it came to serving. Plus we ordered and drink and it never arrived so had to ask another member of staff. But overall very nice just poor organisation of the staff food arrived quickly too

The ambience was nice and the restaurant is situated in a scenic area. However the sticky beef ribs were really dry and one of the waitors had very limited knowledge about the menu. The restaurant had music that was a bit too loud so I had to raise my voice a lot but it was not too loud. The price was decent for where it is located and for the quality of the food.

The duck salad is amazing. Also the baba ganoush starter! Always come back for these two. Chips are great and staff are so friendly.

We had a booking for 8 people. We were given a table with bench (not so practical) instead of the corner table which looked much more comfortable ( and which was innocupied for the entire lunch). Service was poor, lack of attention we always had to chase to move into the next meal. When we ordered the coffee and deserts half of us were served 15 min later. Food is Ok but could be better. Toilets re not well looked after.

Don't go on a Friday night for a meal! Full of city boys having a drink. Too loud and completely unappealing. We left and didn't eat.

I’ve been to Drift several times. Previously it’s been very good but this time I felt the food was poor. I had a fish pie that was mostly potato. Staff were pleasant if a little slow, it took a while to be seated (even though I booked a table) and to give them our order. Overall a very average experience, which is a shame because normally they are very good.

Overall was an OK experience. First thing that went slightly wrong was when I thought we would get a decent table since I requested it when booking but we got to seat on a big shared table even tho there were tables available, I kindly asked to be moved and the hostess agreed to it. We then ordered some wine, my moms wine arrived with something floating inside so we send it back and the waiter did not apologize at all for the inconvenience. The service overall was probably the worst part, waiters seems to be chatting a lot and not paying much attention to the customers. Food was OK, nothing special. Silver linings was when the waiter removed the service charge from the bill explaining he does not think the restaurant provided a decent enough service to us. I did really appreciate that.

The Drift is a good spot for a relaxed drink and unexpectedly nice food. Bit noisy but no more than you’d expect. No view of the fish tank though, if that’s why you’re going.

Although we booked, there was no table reserved. We had requested high top seating and we got standard. The food was bland and overpriced. The service was adequate at best. Wouldn’t go back again in a hurry

I take my team and clients to The Drift. The food is always amazing. The services is not. Although they always find us a table (when we don't have reservations), they always seem short handed and we do wait quite a bit of time trying to track down a server. The servers we have are very nice, though, and I would suspect this is a management issue (not having enough people working during a busy lunch hour.

On a Saturday at 1pm, booked for 7 friends, the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other across the table. The waitress agreed to turn the volume down but that never happened. Waitress did not hear our food order correctly and a requested beetroot burger was served as a beef burger. The beetroot burger never came but a flat fake meat burger did 10mins later with no accompanying sides. Very disappointed by this visit.

Nice food, great cocktails but very noisy if you’re planning to have dinner and a conversation!
