Service service service... Cmon guys basics, just getting a drink was harder than it should be... Food we all enjoyed starters, mixed reviews on mains, desserts were good cheese plate was pretty poor, drab choices, basic mouse trap, cold brie (sin) was tasteless and the blue was so pedestrian it could have walked itself back home, if you are putting on a cheese plate make sure it's served correctly but make sure it's worthy especially when you charge a supplent, quince was nice though On the plus beer was great, bar and garden were great...

Have never been here before, but it’s local and allows dogs, so I took my mother to the dragon for breakfast. Absolutely fantastic breakfast, one of the best I have ever had. Beautiful inside, comfortable and inviting. I can’t wait to return for an evening meal. Very friendly staff, especially our server Fern who was so polite and brought us coffee, juice and our breakfast in no time! So thank you.

Booked for Sunday lunch was put in a side room cramped window bench seat with dogs and a noisy group ordered our Sunday lunch meal and while awaiting the groups dog decided to do a No 2 which one of the party cleaned up and took it outside not a good start first course was average salmon fishcakes then the roast which the beef was tough and chewy the carrots looked like they had been sat and warmed up not gastro pub food. I then needed the toilet and asked one of the staff were they were situated bearing in mind I was walking with a walking stick when I opened the door I had to go up 2 flights of stairs not disabled friendly then when we went to pay the bill was told their was a service charge been put on which we wasn't told about hence will not return

Dined here this evening for the first time. Lovely place and gorgeous decor, clearly very popular as extremely busy, especially at the bar and outdoor areas. We’d heard positive reviews which encouraged us to book. Overall we were personally a little disappointed with our experience this evening. We were seated near the bar area and unfortunately right next to the thoroughfare for the bar, toilets and access to outside so it wasn’t a relaxing place to be seated at all as people rushing past all the time and exceptionally noisy. Food came out quickly (side order of onion rings arrived first and five minutes before main meals which was a bit odd). Food piping hot, was good but it could’ve been better…my partner ordered fish and chips, plate had a lot of oil that hadn’t been drained from the fish which was a bit unpleasant and not many chips and. The Saag aloo pie had lovely pastry and gravy, but came out with mash instead of chips as stated on the menu and the filling was very sweet, especially paired with the braised red cabbage. The service tonight was poor. Staff were pleasant but priority seemed to be made to the drinks orders as most of the staff seemed to be serving drinks, there were little to no waiting staff in the area we were seated in the restaurant, no one checked if everything was ok with our meal until the end and we had to keep catching staff’s attention when they walked past us for things and to order dessert. We left soon after as it was just too noisy for us and there was also a strange smell of drains near our table that was quite overpowering. We’d possibly give it another try in the future, we perhaps just caught them on a busy evening today.

A really nice place to eat. Inside and outside seating with a good selection of beverages and a well stocked bar. The food was very nice, although we visited on a Sunday where it has a slightly limited Sunday menu, but the food we chose was very nice indeed. Points have been knocked off as the coffee machine was not working when we visited and they brought out all the starters, mains and snacks together (the mains were actually on the table before the starters). However, management apologised for this and offered a discount (free deserts) for the mistake. Pricing was reasonable, around £30 per adult for a three course meal and £10 per child for a 2 course meal. Would visit again, perhaps during the week for the different menu, but given the mistake with food delivery we wouldn't be in a rush or go out of our way to book a table.

I appreciate the place gets busy but it was extremely noisy, we didn't feel relaxed or comfortable one bit! The lady who greeted us at the door was rude and un inviting! She told us to sit anywhere, then asked us to move! We took our dog with us and she was hardly acknowledged and not even offered a bowl of water! Food was nice but we've had a lot better! We never got asked if we wanted ice etc with our drinks and the presentation of them were poor, small glasses and my partners coffee was spilling all over the cup! We wanted to leave pretty much as soon as we arrived, it was our first and last time at the dragon! The toilets weren't the cleanest either and the car park was horrendous, cars cramped in like sardines!!

I visited today for lunch with my Husband and Mum to celebrate my birthday. We were greeted with smiles and shown to our table. Our drinks order was taken promptly and brought to our table. We ordered our food and when it was brought to us it was served hot and beautifully presented and as we had ordered it with the sauce in a pot for my Mum. We had the seabass which was superb and went really nicely with the rice, vegetables and sauce it was served with. We ordered sticky toffee pudding and Chocolate Delice for dessert, both were divine. Thank you so much to all the team for a wonderful birthday lunch. We can't wait to visit again. Amanda

The Dragon is my local watering hole but I’ve never had breakfast here so thought I’d give it a try. Definitely did not disappoint! I had the full English breakfast that came with Butcher's country sausage, bacon, black pudding, hash browns, baked beans, tomato, field mushroom, free range eggs, served with a choice of granary or white farmhouse toast and my partner had the Bacon Maple Pancakes with a couple of hash browns on the side. We both also had a latte, freshly squeezed Orange juice and a smoothie (Blueberry flax) to go along with it. Overall great experience here at the Dragon and will definitely come back again for another breakfast.

The bar was full and quite loud, with the noise and no chairs, we asked if we could sit in the restaurant, we we’re told it’s full, we couldn’t even see anyone in there. It was clear we wasn’t welcome, so for this reason we won’t be back and we will definitely discourage friends and family.

Went for meal on 17/12 at lunchtime and the food was great could not fault that however service was less impressive. Asked for a glass of water with ice & lemon received a tepid glass of water. I ordered from the set menu and my friend from the main menu. We waited almost an hour for our main meal. A couple that sat behind us arrived after us and had received both their starter and main meal before we got ours. Had to physically find a waiter to order our puddings. Received the bill and it was incorrect. When we queried it we were informed the set menu was £27.99 however I knew it was £16.99 for 2 choices and asked him to check this. Few minutes later he came back with an amended bill minus £11.00.

Great bakery but they need to update their times on google. Turned up Sunday at 9am as stated on google to find out they didn’t open till 10. Disappointing. Made a trip to Ashby as the birds there opens at 9.
