The Dovetail Oakham in Rutland

The venue is great , the staff were very friendly and made sure the children had their food first, which was thoughtful; but the food let it down.

Friendly greeting upon arrival, setting the tone for the great service to come. Really helpful waiter who checked gluten free options of several menu items. Delicious food - linguine, pizzas, puddings. Very good menu, reasonably priced and good selection of drinks. Will definitely return.

Arrived early, greeted by Archie who then proceeded to serve us some fabulous cocktails/drinks. The meal arrived tuna was superb especially with aubergine purée which put a twist on it. Chateaubriand was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. Defo give it a go again with the attentive service from Archie and Paul.

The food was amazing! Compliments to the chef. We had the sharer steak and it was cooked to perfection. The drinks were also fab and the staff we’re lovely! Will definitely be back

Me and my partner have been to this location a fair few times for food and drinks, I’ve also been here with friends. It is hands down the best place for a classy but fun night out in Oakham! The food is impeccable and obviously well thought out. The cocktails are to die for! I could easily (and at times have done) get through a fair few, they’re expertly executed. The mixologist here is one of a kind, he will listen about your pallets and recommend a perfect drink for you! He is an absolutely amazing character. Would 100% recommend this place for a romantic couple meal, a family meal, a friends meal or even just for drinks. So happy that The Dovetail came to Oakham.

Had a great night here. Popped in for a drink, lovely staff, couldn't do enough for us. Decided to get some food. Great pizza, great value. Definitely return again.

We have visited before and came back for Mothers Day. It was great! A complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival and pudding for mums, what’s not to love. Delicious food all round and a fab strawberry daiquiri. Lovely decor and excellent, friendly serving staff. Totally recommend.

The upstairs area at The Dovetail served as the perfect venue for my triplet daughters plus sixteen friends to celebrate their 13th birthday. The food (mains were almost all pizzas with a couple of linguines) was fantastic and the service first rate. Highly recommended.

First & most definitely not last visit here tonight . I had possibly the best meal I have had in a long time. Food was amazing, all cooked fresh. The cocktails were heaven! What a great service, me and my partner have recently moved to oakham, and being a chef I love eating out and experiencing different flavour. Although the food was great, the service was exceptional! Lia was our waitress, her customer care, and smiles made us feel welcome, and comfortable. Her reppator with all the tables was amazing, my other mention goes out to archie, the mad genius bar tender who has come up with 'the NEW old fashion, sweet and bitter and left you wanting a pitcher of this beautiful blend, absolutely credit goes out to the team, we will be back if not just for those old fashions

A very welcoming place , the staff are lovely and also efficient . We both had steak which was cooked excellently, and a very good wine choice. We would definitely visit again and would recommend

We have had lunch twice before and those times were a bit hit and miss but things seem to have changed a new simpler menu is now offered. On this occasion I had the tofu katsu curry which was very tasty and my friend had the fish and chips which were well cooked and presented. We washed it all down with a bottle of Pinot Grigio. The service was fine and friendly and the new menu represents much better value than what was on offer previously.

Cocktails were superb! Food was out of this world! Staff were brilliant. The atmosphere was excellent. See you next time!
