Lovely pub and very nice staff. The food tasted nice but the portions.. I had a roast chicken, now I get it that we arrived there at 5 but the chicken portion was tiny and all bones, 3 potatoes, a tiny piece of cauliflower, few peas and a Yorkshire pudding. I felt still hungry after I left and had to had dinner at home. Tbh never seen anything like that. Shame because the place is lovely and people working there are nice

I love the tiny alleyway you have to pass through to reach The Dove (connecting Furnivall Gardens and Chiswick Mall). It really sets the scene for this historic, Grade II listed pub. It’s perfectly set on the Thames and a lovely walk to reach it whether coming along the river from Chiswick or Hammersmith. Sit inside or outside on the awesome riverside terrace (unlike the Black Lion and The Ship (further along / up river), The Dove is literally riverside / on the river. Good food, service and setting. What’s not to like? Make sure to book a table in advance (sometimes days / weeks in advance!)

The best fish and chips in London so far in my opinion. The portions size was very generous. The chips were crispy outside and tender inside. The fish was tender and juicy. The sauce was great and not sour at all. London Pride was very drinkable. The staff was welcoming. The atmosphere inside was nice and they have open wood fire. So in non-summer time I would even recommend tables closer to the bar than to the windows since that part is more cozy

Sunday roast was really disappointing, for the price you’re paying you’d expect a decent portion (hardly any veg or gravy) in overall it wasn’t really nice. Service was slow- got told by 1 girl they aren’t doing table service but other staff said they do, really confusing. 3 stars for the view.

To be fair, don’t get me wrong but it was kinda really terrible. Service was so unwelcoming and consistently negligent (pretty sure they actively avoided us and pretended we weren’t there when we needed them, it was kinda funny) and that’s not even the worst of it. The food was bad bad (I’m trying so hard not to swear) the cauliflower cheese was one tiny bit of cauliflower and obviously the cauliflower cheese is the best bit. ONE CARROT. ONE SWEDE (or unidentified root veg dunno). The chicken was fine. And it cost TWENTY QUID. garbage honestly. Fullers pubs = full of sh1t3. It’s actually not that hard to do a good roast. Do not charge 20+ quid for it. Love doves and pidgins. Hate the Dove pub.

Our first visit to The Dove was fabulous: we sat in the front area near a fireplace and had a great Sunday roast after a long walk in the cold. So when my mom was visiting me in London, The Dove was a natural choice to show her a cosy historical pub, so I booked a table in advance and was looking forward to it Unfortunately, this time we were given the worst table in the back of the pub, in a glass box right near the men's toilet. It was quite a popular destination for the guests, it being a busy Friday night, but I just tried to ignore the smells and sights as much as possible. Instead, I had to focus on keeping the table stable (pardon the pun) as it was really shaky. My mom’s husband sat by the window, and it was very cold, so he ended up putting his coat on. The food was a bit of a hit-and-miss. Cheese plates included four small pieces of cheese and were mostly dominated by accompanying salad, chutney, crackers, apples and grapes. My fish and chips were a huge portion, but the steak and my mom’s squash dish were quite small. Brownies with Chantilly cream and cherries were really good. Overall, I just felt really disappointed with the table squeezed in between the toilet and the cold window. It was definitely not the cosy by-the-fireplace pub experience I wanted for my mom, and I feel I should have chosen something else for her.

I do love coming here because its near my house and I will be back but guys, you have got to sort out the focaccia. It was served as two slices of toasted sourdough bread completely ruining what a focaccia is. Had you just served that one thick slice that is fluffy and salty and oily and spongy, it would have made all kinds of sense. Now, whoever made the octopus, very very well done. That was incredibly tasty. We had Sunday roast too which was fine but needs a teeny bit more gravy. I am not gonna stop coming here but per favore, the focaccia... Thank you!!! <3

When was this place last deep cleaned? The ladies toilets are absolutely disgusting and the dust/muck around the restaurant is appalling. I dread to think what the kitchens are like… Brought my Dad here today for his Birthday. On the booking site it even asked if this is a special occasion and I mentioned his Birthday. But the staff made absolutely zero attempt to acknowledge this… All in all this has not been a good representation of the Fullers brand

One of the worst (see other reviews) dining experiences to date. Booked a table with my wife and parents for a special night out after Christmas, travelled over an hour to get there etc. - Table situated at the back of the pub in a drafty and cold glass box, sandwiched between ladies and gents toilets. Absolutely awful, particularly given that we were walked through the nice bit of the pub / restaurant on our way there! - Our first waiter, dressed as they all were in t-shirt / jeans, didn't have an adequate grasp of the menu and his English was limited. - Side dish (padron peppers) arrived with starters. Same side dish then reappeared with mains, cold. Reappeared moments later, warmer and soggier. - The clincher was the fillet steak and chips with peppercorn sauce (£32). I asked for medium rare and got something cold and beyond well done. It was also a tiny steak which could be concealed in its entirety with 5 chips. The peppercorn sauce was a bland gravy with a few whole peppercorns thrown in. It was terrible. - Fish (of fish and chips fame) was battered too much with uncooked batter on the inside. Overall, this was a truly disappointing evening out, and we will never come back for food. We paid a discounted bill and left without ordering any complimentary desserts.

Nice looking pub but absolutely shocking prices. Paid £17.35 for a beer and a glass of wine, April'23. Toilets were in a state too. You'd expect that on a Saturday night but there was nowhere to dry your hands, just a battered loo roll with no paper left somewhere near the sink. Really shoddy stuff for a pub that has the nerve to charge the prices they do. Just not worth it. Worst Fullers pub I've been to. Anyway - theres plenty of other pubs nearby.

On a cold grey late November Sunday afternoon, when the high tide of the Thames mixes with the greasy mizzle of the overcast sky, The Dove beckons like a lighthouse on the riverside, it’s gold lettering a bright flash against the drabness of the day. Inside, all warm and wooden, warped with a hundred years and more of intemperance, fire gently hissing with pleasure. The beer is standard Fullers, but brewed no more than a mile distant, so excellent still, but unless you’re here to eat there’s precious little place to sit. So back outside to the riverside terrace, to embrace the view and sit not too long before onwards. #24 #29

I’m in The Dove right now. It’s a Saturday night and very busy. I popped in for a meal and a drink before a film at the Riverside Studios. If you don’t mind loads of young toffs it’s a good pub. I’m from the rougher end of West London and everyone sounded so posh that it was as if they were taking the micky out of posh people! My belly of pork meal was nice enough, if a little light on the portion size. My gluten free Punk IPA was welcome but way too expensive at £5.45 for just 330ml.

One of my favourite pubs in London. Everything about this classic traditional pub is magnificent. You even have a river view! However, I did pop in on Saturday to be told that a certain area is for food only. As The Dove is a very small pub, I was extremely disappointed they have decided to do that, and it does really restrict where you can sit. Nevertheless, that still doesn't take away from the beauty of the pub!

Came here for Sunday lunch with my 2 friends. Was really looking forward to a nut roast and we had booked this 2 weeks in advance. We had to wait a bit for our table which is fine, but we’re told to wait outside and someone would come and get us when ready, and no one ever did. When ordering food I was told there was no nut roast (I’m pescatarian so couldn’t have any of the meat options), I opted for a starter of scampi instead which also wasn’t available. So finally went for one of their specials (also a starter) of scallops which the waitress said I could have as a main. My friends ordered roasts. When my food arrived it was only 2 scallops on a bed of chopped onion which I paid £17 for. Been to the Dove several times but was really disappointed that there were so many issues, particularly with the nit roast not being available. It was too late to eat at this point of my friends food had just arrived so I had to sit an watch them eat. While experience was ruined.

The Dove has landed and it was a pleasant surprise! We left a nearby pub/ pizza joint a tiny bit earlier, honestly feeling a bit hangry. The 'rules' for their OMFG pizza wasn't communicated to us clearly so we spent about two hours waiting for God's mercy. We were not served any food though we've been buying pints and pints. Feeling disappointed because of that bad experience, it's really wonderful for us to find the Dove. We were seated right away for a beautiful Sunday roast. Was it earth shattering good? Meat was chewy and two pieces of meat were differently cooked, one was rare, the other medium rare. The only good thing was the Yorkshire pudding, but not enough to justify the full price of the meal. All the food was good apart from the two small pieces of bread which were absolutely tiny. When I asked for the oil and balsamic vinegar they gave it to us but noticed it tasted a bit strange. I looked at the best before date and saw that the balsamic was over a year out of date. I know the staff were busy but when I gave it to one member and said that it was out of date they didn’t seem to care or even apologise. It just seemed like we were an inconvenience for them. We've been coming to the Dove for decades, it was our Dad's favourite pub and when he died, 30 years ago this week, we came here as a family to scatter some of his ashes in the Thames, and for the next 29 years we've been coming back to celebrate him around that anniversary. In that time we've had mixed experiences but mostly good. Last night 5 of us came for a meal on our annual pilgrimage. We booked in advance, saying that 2 of us are vegan and one has a life threatening mustard allergy. When we arrived, 8pm, we had to ask what was suitable for vegans and what didn't have mustard in. The waitress didn't know and had to go off and ask. She came back with one main course that was vegan and nothing for the mustard allergy, so he had to have some starters instead. We said we were disappointed at this as we'd told them in advance about the allergy and the vegans, she didn't apologise. She was also very casual about the whole mustard thing, which is a concern when it could kill you! We waited a long time for our drinks to arrive, when they did one pint of beer was totally flat. She replaced it, but again with no apology. The food, which hadn't been anyone's ideal first choice, was good, so that was nice. When they cleared the plates the waitress brought dessert menus, after a minute or 2 we called her over to ask what was vegan (there are no indicators on the menus at all) and joked that at least nothing would have mustard in! She said there was nothing vegan, but also as it was 9.32pm the kitchen we closed and so we couldn't order desserts anyway!! She had only given us menus minutes before. At no point when we took our 8pm table did anyone mention that the kitchen would close at 9.30pm! We had to wait quite a while to order, for our drinks to arrive, for our food. So it would have been difficult to have ordered desserts earlier, but if we'd known we might have tried. When we questioned this she simply said they had all been working 12 hour shifts and were knackered!!! We paid a lot of money for food some of us wouldn't have chosen, and couldn't get a dessert for no fault of our own. I think its also worth mentioning for a busy London pub that serves (not inexpensive) food to not have a vegan pudding option and only one main course is pretty poor in 2023. Anyway, the whole experience really tarnished our moment to celebrate our Dad, and we have all decided, after 30 years, and a few less than great experiences in the last few years, we won't be able to come back to The Dove for our pilgrimage. Sorry Dad

I have been going to the Dove for years and up until now, the food the service and the ambiance were second to none. Now under new management, the service was extremely slow, at a table book for dinner it took 45 mins for the wine to arrive and the bottle was simply placed on the table with some stemless wine glasses, having order a £40 bottle of white I requested glasses with stems but was told they had run out; exit waitress! We had to beg to place a food order and then two of the meals were sent back, the cock au vin consisted of a dried up piece of chicken in a white wine slop and by now, 9pm, the kitchen was closed; a replacement meal of fish and chips eventually arrived after the rest of us had finished our meals. The staff were not suitably dressed for serving food with their bellies hanging out and them constantly pulling down their tops which were riding up to expose their entire stomachs and the glasses delivered to the table where hugged to the said stomach. On ordering a slightly cheaper second bottle of wine, it had a screw top which was not even removed, just dumped on the table! I had invited several friends for my birthday celebration and was totally embarrassed that I had suggested this venue. It was a disgrace and would definitely suggest avoiding it. Such a shame as it is a beautiful old pub in a lovely location on the river. Attached is a picture of 2 of the waitresses.

The waitress we had, her name was Diana, was absolutely lovely! Honestly haven’t had better service from anywhere else in london and was a joy to dine here.

My favourite pub ever, the terrace in the summer has got the best views and it's super cozy in winter to sit by the fire

One of my new favourite pubs - right on the river, gorgeous surrounding views and a quaint outdoor patio with a fantastic spiral staircase leading to an upper deck. Inside is the perfect old pub vibe, exactly what you'd hope to find tucked away on a little cobble stone path. Friendly staff, great drink selection and exceptional food.
