He comido aquí unas cuantas veces!

We do not frequent this cafe often owing to the abrupt and aloof service. The food is ok for prices charged but is let down by its front of house staff.Today they surpassed themselves by offering us a table, and then asking us to move and share another table as a larger group had walked in after us!!I understand the need to maximise covers, but once you've offered a table to a customer it is poor form to expect them to move and share another. If you want excellent service, there are plenty of other venues in the area. Would recommend staying clear till they up their game.

Food was OK, nothing special. I had an omelette and my friend had a salad. Nothing remarkable about either. What caught my eye were the smocks worn by the chefs and waiting staff, quite unclean. They obviously had not been washed for days. One waiter was drying cutlery with a very faded brownish tablecloth, which was once white. Obviously not washed for an age eiterStaff reasonaably friendly but food overpriced, this place needs to improve.

I'm truly mystified at this place's attitude to clients. Last time I came we waited ages just to be acknowledged and we were then treated with disdain when we reminded the waitress that we'd been waiting for about 20 minutes for our coffees. This time the waitress walked off half way through my order and was unhelpful, rude and arrogant . The writing is on the wall for this place unless they teach their staff some basic manners abs service techniques.

You don't seem to have many options around this area/ street and in the absence of choices, Hummingbird cafe is where i have be going the last 3 Saturdays. The few choices they offer they are interesting and tasty but it's slowwww! There is waiting and there is WAITING! The girls that run it are polite and smiley but they need to step on it.Four people behind the counter does not justify the confusion and time it takes to order. And while we are there, can someone please at some point CLEAN / WIPE the table tops? Soon the plates will stick on them. The place has potential and they don't really have much competition on what they offer BUT they need to run it better. On the positives, everything i've tried was very tasty!

I used to go to The Hummingbird really often, but has got worse and worse over the last year and a half. Today was the last day I've been there, word.Ordered two breakfast and three drinks. They informed us they "might" not have orange juice and brought us a coffee instead, to see that, funny enough, people who ordered after us were getting served orange juice (we didn't). At some point, they brought us our (average) food and one of the coffees, but not my drinks!!! After 15 minutes, my boyfriend had eaten the whole breakfast while mine was seating cold as I had nothing to drink. I had to request it twice and they promise they would not charge for it, but still took them forever to serve my drinks and at that point and being sick of waiting, I had eaten my cold breakfast with my dry mouth. Food was plain and average. Overpriced. The only good thing of the whole breakfast was a sausage, and only one, given that is what they include in their full English breakfast.Funny enough to they did add the drinks to the bill and a 12.5% service charge.Such a shame a place that used to be so good has turned into that. Never ever again Hummingbird.

A coffee shouldn't take 20 minutes to mate. It just shouldn't. I could almost understand on a Sunday at around midday but not on a Thursday morning. Sort it out HC!The Hummingbird WAS a fantastic little local authentic cafe with delicious, albeit expensive, food. Unfortunately it's gone down hill in recent months, most probably as a result of their expansion. Far too high turnover of staff and ALWAYS busy. My advice:1) Learn how to make a coffee fast. Quality is good but it should never take 20 minutes and it certainly shouldn't come after my food has arrived!2) Don't give your guests a menu only to return 20 minutes later to take their order. It's a CAFE, not a restaurant!3) Add some simplified options on the menu (i.e. a bacon sarnie...).4) Go back to what you used to do best. Please HC, back to basics and bring me my coffee!

I've been going to this cafe on and off since it opened a few years back. Sadly, in the last year it has lost its way. There used to be a young Australian lady running it very efficiently. Now there are a series of different people and never enough at peak times. For the second time in three visits I left after waiting >15 minutes for a coffee. This time the waitress said "we are working as hard as we can". I am sure they are. The staff are always nice.I recommend a ten minute walk to Askew Road where there are 4 good alternatives, including the excellent Lavelli & Detour.

Visited Thu 23rd for lunch. From the outside the café looked really promising. We were seated straight away as the cafe was quite quiet.Staff were friendly enough and we were served quickly, but my meal was rather disappointing. I chose mushroom omelette which was overcooked and browned. The mushroom slices were too large, chunky and chewy. The sour dough toast was very heavily buttered, and again overcooked and so chewy I couldn't eat it all. My son was defeated by the crusts on his second slice of toast too. Don't think we'd visit again.

I visited this cafe the other weekend for what I expected to be a lovely brunch. The wait was expected as it's always busy, the staff were amazing and lovely however there were clear management issues. The Food was quite good, but the place needs a revamp. With chairs falling apart, I get the whole antique look but this was taking it too far.i also noted the high staff turnover which means something must not be going right behind closed doors. It is a shame as with a few touches in the right place and maybe better treatment of staff the place will succeed.

I have been forces to frequent this place for the last year or so since moving to this area. Not forced at gun point but by friends who plea that there is nothing else around the Uxbridge Road,After the last visit I will certainly not be falling for it again rather I will trek further afield to either High Road House or for a more relaxed Vibe at Mungo's.I thought to keep it brief this Is the top ten reasons this place is terrible:1. They often do not have many of their ingredients which are not seasonable or particularly fresh. 2. Any changes to the dishes are frowned upon and charged with scrutiny resulting in super awkward conversation, where is the pickle (flexibility and good customer service)for the customer?3. It takes ages to be seated and served even though on last count I saw 9 members of staff for a less than 500 square foot space. 4. The service is generally poor with hung-over Australians and sarcastic creative Brits that equally do not want to be there and definitely do not want to be serving often with the food just thrown down because they are just 'so busy'5. Items that have come to my plate cold before- bean, toast, sausage and rubbery eggs. 6. It never seems genuine when the staff asks you how your meal is and if you change or send back anything you are met with frost. 7. Service is automatically added to the bill without asking. 8. The staff do not receive any rather it is pays their wages- no wonder they are how they are. 9. The princes in general are way over priced for microwaved pre-cooked sausages and average quality eggs. 10. All of the both every time I have visited- consistently bad!I vow now not to return despite pressure because it 'is the only place', I will be walking from now on despite my tiredness that extra bit so that my brunch does not feel like robbery.

We really wanted to like Hummingbird Cafe's new Deli further down Uxbridge Road. It certainly looks great and the couple of coffees I've got from there on the way to work have been a bit more expensive than others in the area but always good.Sadly today's experience was not great. It's Bank Holiday so we knew it might be busy but it was chaotic and it wasn't down to the customers. We found a seat but had to clear it ourselves and after ordering it was painful trying to get all our order correct and on the table!First my avocado on rye arrived without the side salad, 10 minutes before anything else appeared. My mango and mint smoothie wasn't cold and my lettuce leaves were limp! We chased up the pork sandwich only to be told it's actually lamb today (even though the board said pork and they didn't let me know when we'd ordered)! Unfortunately the lamb was a bit greasy. We then chased our coffees and once our whole order was finally was present and correct we were exhausted! The place has so much potential but it seems the "system" isn't quite correct yet. You shouldn't have to fight for your food to arrive and each dish should be consistently good.I have to be honest, the service in Hummingbird Cafe and Habenera (their other two ventures) has been mixed too in the past. Being local I really want to support what they are doing but am struggling to recommend them to people at the moment.

We go to this local cafe at the weekends. It does get busy and the service can be a little slow as a result, but this is so much better than going to a franchised and impersonal coffee bar. This is small and quaint, the coffee is good, and the poached eggs on sourdough toast are scrumptious, as is the porridge & honey. We are local to the Hummingbird and have been frequent visitors over the past year. The coffee and food are always fantastic yet on a busy day, this delightful cafe is unfortunately let down by the service. The staff are friendly and poilte, but they lack a service structure. On many a busy occasion I have witnessed 5 staff members hanging around the till, the one barrister having to run their coffee because no-one is available to take it, and people queueing by the door all trying to get a sense of when they are likely to be seated. All of this chaos really negatively contributes to the overall experience of an otherwise lovely cafe, and could be eased with a bit of direction and delegation by the manager on duty. (An apron/t-shirt to identify the staff, and a larger milk frothing jug wouldn't go amiss either!)

Even though were were loaded down with several bags, cases and coats, the staff at the cafe found space for us and all our things. We weren't made to feel like we were in the way, which can be a bit of a panic when you're travelling through with lots of things.I had chorizo, baked eggs and yoghurt with ciabatta. The food was so fresh and delicious that I mopped up every drop with my bread. My friend ate eggs benedict and was similarly enthralled. Washed down with some delightfully fresh loose-leaf tea, our hangovers were gone. The price? At about £11 each it's more than I'd normally pay for a breakfast, but considering your food is fresh and beautifully cooked I'd say it's worth it. I will go out of my way to eat here in the future.

This is little treasure is tastefully kitted out in a warm cosy style a good 10-15 minutes walk from Shepherds Bush Market tube. My Aussie friend has very strict views about what constitutes proper coffee and was completely won over. We both thoroughly enjoyed the delicious banana bread with cinnamon butter. We arrived after the big rush (ending about 2.30pm on Sunday) and that's perhaps why we had such a chilled out time. Be warned: this place is apparently very popular for brunch and lunch and I can't review this place from that aspect but I can confirm I had a great time here and good service when I had my off-peak coffee. I really wanted to love this place, I forced the boy to go there as I had read good reviews. You know when you make a suggestion and you want it to be a winner – well that was me! First impression its super cute - maybe a tad cozy. The tables are packed in very tightly - but still that’s not a problem. I love supporting local businesses so headed here one Sunday morning for breakfast.I had read before that you need to arrive early to get pancakes I got there after 10 and the pancakes had sold out – sob! The girl did tell me that they had sold out by 7am!!! Seriously 7am I’m not that keen on a Sunday – I think it’s a real shame that the pancakes are clearly in demand, but they don’t make enough even to last through the breakfast hours.Anyhoo – there was a bit of a wait for a table – it got busier as we waited, but the turn around was quick enough. I ordered eggs royale – which looked great but turned out to be a disappointment – my eggs where completely under cooked practically raw – I was gutted as my plan to eat there was starting to become a mistake. They did say sorry and take it off the bill, but the raw eggs did gross me out so I lost my appetite. The boy ordered eggs and salmon – it was fineMy friend ordered eggs and avocado –which was good. She also ordered an apple juice which she checked was cloudy – but they brought her one from concentrate, they had run outThe winner for us was the banana bread (toasted), with cinnamon butter – very very yum (it did have a hint of bicarbonate soda) but I still ate it all up.I also thought the coffee was really lovely. They do sell cakes – which looked yum, including the banana bread – but where just out in the open – really think they should be covered, but that’s me!Overall my experience wasn’t great, it really sucked that we had so many problems (I hate complaining, let alone more than once) it’s a shame and maybe we were just really unfortunate the staff are really nice but it was such a major fail, and the boy has decided to no longer listen to me about where to go :-(

We arrived at an extremely busy time, late on a Sunday morning. The inside of the Cafe looked very inviting and homely, but there were only seats available outside. We were seated fairly quickly despite the Sunday Brunch rush and ordered our drinks; a cappuccino and a home-made lemonade. Unfortunately, due to the time of year, we got rather cold outside and waited around 40 minutes for our food to arrive; an Eggs Benedict special with bacon and an Avocado Breakfast. The food was faultless and we really enjoyed it. The price was reasonable but the wait for the food to arrive was not. This was probably because we were there at such a busy time, but I would visit again; perhaps not on a Sunday nearing midday.

We were taken to this cafe by friends and thus had one of the most delicious and frankly gut busting brunches ever. The cafe was full of largely young customers chatting, eating and drinking in the kind of relaxed manner redolent of Old Clifton in our student days. The choice of food was staggering, all freshly prepared and thoughtfully presented. Service was attentive and waiting times (in view of how full it was) were very modest. Well done Hummingbird!

Coffees are OK (a bit too watery for my like), cakes are absolutely delicious and available in many different options: banana bread (ask to have it toasted), the flourless chocolate cake, the carrot cake and the lemon and rosemary drizzle cake are all to die for. However I have 2 main complaints:1. I have never managed to try the pancakes because every time I go, they say they've run out! I have been there at different times of the day during weekends, morning and afternoon, Saturday and Sunday, and still no luck. I am starting to doubt whether they truly have pancakes at all?! If they do, they should start planning enough supply to satisfy the clientele's demand at weekends please!2. The sliced white bread they use for the eggs benedict/florentine is totally unsuitable to the purpose and unfortunately completely ruins the plate of food. It is cut too thick, it's got too much crust, it is difficult to cut and chew as it is too hard. What eggs florentine really need are toasted English muffins that easily embrace the eggs and provide a tasty blended sensation once in your mouth. I hope they will read this review and offer an alternative option to the disappointed clients like me who from now on will look for alternative brunch places just because of the bread disappointment.

Found the cafe by mistake and so glad I did! Not only can you get blueberry pancakes in the afternoon, but they do vegetarian and gluten free meals as well! Had a curried chick pea and quinoa salad today and it was lovely! Only a small place but the staff were great! Service a little slow, but it was quite busy! Good value for money!

The place offers beautiful fresh breakfasts, cooked with love and care. It has an outside area, great for a warm, sunny day. The service was very friendly and welcoming too. The only minor downside is the waiting time, it did take quite some time for our drinks and meals to arrive but then again, be patient, good things take time. If i'm in the area again, will certainly pay a visit to this lovely cafe.

First day I had the Classic Hummingbird English Breakfast, which was very good. Next day went for a Stack of Pancakes and managed to eat half of the portion. Very tasty but it is definitely for two people : ). Coffee was also very good, both times.

Would recommend you go for one of their yummy breakfasts. The staff are always on hand to serve and we haven't had a bad meal here yet, sometimes the coffee can be average if it is a extremely busy day but not all the time!

I really like this place for brunch, so tried to book it for an evening event (as they advertise on the blackboards). Unfortunately, this couldn't go ahead as they were so unaccommodating. Ridiculously ambitious added minimum spend for alcohol, made it very difficult to pay for and said they 'would have to check' if they could do a vegetarian main (hardly a wild dietary option). So I scrapped that and took my group to the pub around the corner who were really friendly.

I have always walked past this buzzing cafe and wanted to go so decided to on mothers day with the family. The place was busy and vibrant, but once seated the staff were amazing and looked after us. The food was amazing and coffee was great. The experience was just what we expected from a small local cafe and have been coming back since, and is great that the offer free wifi during the week so you can use while sitting in the sun.

I went with my daughter as a Mother's Day treat. It was very busy - we were lucky to get a table. We noticed several groups of mums being taken out by their families. The service was incredibly slow but the food was good - when it arrived! I had to change my order twice, as I asked for blueberry pancakes (with banana slices and maple syrup) but first the waitress came and said they had no blueberries, in fact no berries at all (though I'd just had a raspberry Bellini while waiting); then they had no pancakes - so I had eggs royale (poached with hollandaise sauce and smoked salmon). Daughter had eggs Florentine which was supposed to come with mushrooms, but they had no mushrooms... I don't understand why I couldn't have pancakes, as they had eggs! Altogether a bit chaotic, even taking into account that it was a busy day.

Had a nice enough breakfast here. The cappuccino was nice but they assumed I wanted chocolate on top. You should always ask! I had a full English breakfast which was decent enough, but then bacon was cooked too much and hard gone a little stiff. The egg was nice but a little small. The sausage, yes one sausage was nice. All in all it was ok, a little expensive for the amount of stuff on the plate but ok.

We have been here a few time and have to admit, the good is great! We have however recently stopped going because the service is comically slow.Waiting to order breakfast took around 20 minutes before waiting longer for our actual food.

We tried this cafe out three times in the last few days. First we had capuchino and cake (very good lemon drizzle and carrot). Second visit I had scambled eggs on toast with bacon, washed down with capuchino - excellent. Third time they produced gluten free cake and a small mug of hot chocolate for our small granddaughter. She finished every crumb and drop.

Amazing place - been coming here for years and seen it evolve. I haven't reviewed it before as it was kind of a 'locals secret' and we wanted to keep it that way. However, it now seems like the secret is out well and truly. Packed on weekends, usually have to wait (although to be fair they always seem to make very good speed getting through the queue - usually ten minute wait tops. The food is amazing - huge benedicts, fat fluffy pancakes, ozone coffee made by aussie baristas...it's really such a great place - and as someone else said - clearly someone's labour of love!

Every time I go to this cafe - and I've been a number of times - they take an absurd amount of time to get an order done. They get very busy during brunch at the weekend and the staff seem to be running in circles - it can take half an hour to even get a menu, let alone be able to order anything.I had assumed that they just weren't very good at coping with busy times, but today in the early morning with very few customers they still took an age to make a basic bacon sandwich. Having asked about the time when ordering and mentioning that I was in a rush, I watched the lady in the kitchen move incredibly slowly and take twice as long as I'd been told. I'm not sure what she's daydreaming about but the priority didn't seem to be making the sandwich!I keep wanting to like this place as the coffee is nice and the food is usually good, and have visited over 5 times in the last 10 months, but every time I go I end up regretting it. Unfortunately I have to conclude that the service is never going to improve.Only visit if you have a lot of time to spare!

I have been to this cafe before and enjoyed my experience, however was left with a sour taste in my mouth after we were served lamb instead of pulled pork but the chefs wouldn't admit their mistake. Very insulted that they think we can't taste the difference, or couldn't be bothered doing anything about it. And was looking forward to the pulled pork - which I've had before.

We live round the corner and watch this small establishment grow and grow with its quality and originality of food, particularly after being purchased by a New Zealander. Its strengths are breakfast and lunch and the hours around these periods, although they are open at night on selected evenings with an eclectic offering by an excellent chef and if it keeps improving this will be hard to beat. The food is all good and is a fusion of English, North African and Asian combined with Australasian. Worth a walk of a mile if you are nearby, but beware, sometimes its full for breakfast at the weekend so don't stay in bed too long. I couldn't get in today.

This is a welcome addition to the area. More of these local and non-chain eateries are needed please! This is a friendly cafe, which is lovely for brunches and lunches. It is a good spot for singles, couples, ladies who lunch, and those with children. The food is of good portion size and is of good quality, there is a wide enough choice to provide variety (soup, croissants, cake, lunch menu, & different teas and coffees), and the service is attentive. For two, coffees and brunch (full English) is about £20 (including service).Well worth frequent visits.

As a chap, I have studiously avoided this place ever since the nice Portuguese man moved out and it got all fancied up. It's not that I don't like fanciness per se, it's just that the place seemed so unrelentingly feminine in everything it did that I couldn't imagine it had anything for me in it. A bit like Agent Provocateur, or the Aveda shop, or the nail parlour on the green. Nothing wrong with them, they just don't push my buttons. The other night I was forced to reconsider. A friend had her birthday party in there. The food was delicious. The staff were lovely. The vibe was right. Good times were had. And I wasn't even offered a herbal tea (rest assured they do have some). The wine was a bit fizzy, which would normaly be a bummer, but to be honest everything else was so nice that I didn't really mind. Good job Hummingbird cafe chaps, and good job Kiwi lady who took it over. I think she might be the street party organiser as well. Bigups all round. Maybe I should look into getting my nails done.

I've been past this cafe lots and thought it looked lovely so finally organised to meet my friend there for brunch on Sunday. It was very busy and so got the last free table which provided a nice refuge from the cold weather. Lots of attention has obviously been paid to the decor which has a vintage/shabby chic style feel. It had a good brunch menu - a mix of healthy and unhealthy options and I very much enjoyed my Eggs Florentine. The tea was good and my friend said her coffee was excellent and the cakes looked so tasty we had to try them too. I can recommend the raspberry and white chocolate brownie, it looked a little small to start with but actually was fairly rich so more would probably have been a bit much. The fact it was so busy meant the service was a little slow but the staff we friendly and nice, which is just as well as they add service to the bill which annoys me if the service is bad, but it wasn't in this case. I wouldn't say it was that cheap (although not super pricey either) and worth it for the good food and nice atmosphere. I'll definitely be returning as would like to try the lunch and dinner options that they do too. They also do take away so might pop in for a homemade cake treat every now and then and they have outdoor seating which would be nice to take advantage of in better weather.

I stumbled across this place completely accidentally, but was so happy I did. It's a really nice place, everyone is friendly and happy to help you. I was only going in for a coffee, but when I saw other people's food I had to have some. I ordered the 'pulled pork sandwich' (a favourite of mine) and I have to say its the best one I've had in London. I've become something of a regular now, as the coffee is brilliant. Only downside I'd say would be the food is a little over priced, but for fresh good food you do get what you pay for these days. Comparing it with the chains though the coffee is MUCH cheaper. I'd recommend it

So lets out this into perspective. This is a a cafe, it's not setting the culinary world on fire. There'll be no Michelin stars. I don't think the Times or Jay Rayner will be doing reviews. But it's good - cozy and stands out in an otherwise monotonous drone of chains, average pubs and nearby Westfield. It's nice to see a fire sky sanctuary offering the kind of food I could cook at home but when I don't have to - or want to - I can brave the elements and head out knowing their kitchen will pull together something simple, tasty and moorish without trying to conduct a SAS invasion on my wallet for the pleasure. The interior looks like Laura Ashley's wet dream but all the more charming for it with floral wallpaper and so many seats crammed in you feel like you're weaving your way through a snails shell to get to the end. The waitresses work the room taking orders quickly. We were given water in a carafe and our orders taken. She had the avocado breakfast with sausage, me the mushroom omelette. The place was rammed and we had to wait about 5 mins for a seat. In the meantime you are drawn in my the copious towes of baked goods on offer should you just want to step in for something to take in the run. My omelette was prefect. Not over oiled with a crisp bottom and roared portobello mushrooms cut into slices. She had a tea, me a fresh squeeze juice. The bill? With service is came to less than £20. Impressive. Their dinner menu looked good too from what we saw and we will be back for that in time. This place would be great for a hangover with a paper and the dog nursing the night before. Check it out before eating at some where characterless.

Good brecky but overpriced and it half the time it seems the staff can't be bothered. They seem to float between one - three sausages in their sausage sandwiches. Irritating. But cute place if you can't stomach a pint.

A very good cafe and welcome addition to the neighbourhood.Previously called "Cupboard", this cafe has been upgraded: refurbished and extended into the tiny little shoe-shop shop that used to be next door. (One could say that the Cupboard and the Shoebox have merged...)It now offers an array of very delicious-looking (I've never had one) cakes, including "QPR buns" (you can see the stadium lights from their door) and cooked breakfasts (which are not cheap, but are good) and evening meals (I haven't yet tried going in the evening, it's a recent thing).Their coffee is VERY strong tasting (which I like). They've put in an outside seating area with heaters and blankets. It's all very smart and designer-ish: colourful swirly floor tiles, wooden surfaces, etc. Clearly someone's labour of love.Staff are very friendly.

Went here this afternoon for a late breakfast. The portions were generous, there was a nice variety of food but would have appreciated a bit more choice - the lack of hash browns was slightly saddening, but I was very impressed by the quality of the service and small touches like the tea cups which also acted as tea pots with a built-in infuser, and beans served in a separate pot for ease of dipping! The food was very tasty and filling and the price reasonable (£8 for a full English breakfast, £1.80 for a cup of tea, though many of the brunch menu items were cheaper at £5 or £6). Would recommend it if you're seeking out breakfast in the Shepherd's Bush area.

Typical high quality London chic. Excellent food not much nod to allergens though for dairy and pulse free. Knowledgeable about wines with an expectation that people will take time to enjoy the meal. A very pleasant experience.

Served by Michael. Have been away for a few weeks. However, Michael remembered exactly the coffee I usually have. Served with a smile and positive attitude. Managed to create a design in the oat milk on top of decaf Americano too! Fab. Michael's a great credit to 'Gails'. If your coffee's made by Michael I'm sure it'll be one of the best coffees you'll have! Coffee has a great taste at 'Gails' too!
