Good gluten free pizzas, lovely staff

Family had carefully chosen a restaurant that advertises "gluten free" pizza as one member has coeliac disease. Upon arrival (when the affected individual asked, after having trustingly followed the family to the "special, safe restaurant"), we were told that although the flour was gluten free in the pack, "obviously" it would be contaminated on the surfaces and in the oven and therefore the end product would not be gluten free and there was no way they could provide a coeliac safe experience. By law (according to Coeliac UK), "To label gluten free on your menus you need to be sure that the dishes you are serving contain 20 parts per million (ppm) or less of gluten". Staff were pleasant and sympathetic, but this is irrelevant: we had to scramble for a coeliac safe place. As a reminder, it is illegal and dangerous to knowingly mislabel likely contaminated products as gluten free, and fine print at the back of the menu falls short of acceptable standards.

Really tasty pizza, with plenty of other options - sub sandwiches etc. Had the quattro formaggio which was excellent, with several different chilli oils. Roman pizza with anchovies capers and olives also very good. House red was great and good price. Definitely will be back.

If you do nothing else on Gloucester Road make sure you try the chicken, bacon & avocado salad !! Clean, welcoming & great value...... please open a shop in North Devon

The positives are the very welcoming, attentive, and freindly waitress / host. The food was also very good. However, the attitude of the chef towards the waitress was unprofessional and frankly rude. Shaming the waitress with "what kind of a stupid question is that" when asking how long our food is going to be having waited over 30 minutes for a sandwich in an all but empty restaurant. If you advertise an open kitchen you must be aware your customers can here what you say, and see your body language. Even if busy, the on show nature of your kitchen must be considered. As stated the food was good but the atmosphere was not on point during the visit.

Not the best service. They have your “make your own sub” on the menu and you can choose up to 3 ingredients. To make it easier when ordering, I said to the girl the name of one of the subs and said “like this one but instead of rocket, please avocado”. When they brought my food the order was wrong, so she didn’t took it rigth. That was not an issue at all. They changed it. When I was about to pay they tried to charge me the avocado as a substitution charging 2 extra pounds for it. When I asked the girl why, she said that I was changing the rocket for the avocado and then its a substitution. Im so sorry, but does not look right to me that you can have up to 3 ingredients, but if you use one of their subs names to explain what you would like to change, they take it as a substitution. A completely nonsense. The girl told me that she will check it with the manager and she came back saying that they would not charge me fot it. I was really greatful and said to her thank you for checking it. I didn’t wanted the £2 and was about to leave it as a tip because for me was more the nonsense of charging £2 that the £2 it self . She said “it’s ok, we are giving you a refund but its a substitution”. I found her rude and I took my £2. Not coming back, ever. We were just finishing to eat and when not everyone was finished, the waitress started to take some of the plates. As soon as we’ve finished, in within 2 minutes, the waitress came and said, “do you want something else or do you want the bill”. We looked to each other thinking that was inappropriate. A kind if kicking us out. We asked for the bill of course. We didnt want to stay.

Been here numerous times. Best pizza in Bristol! Great service, friendly staff, great portions. Also out of this world gluten free dough! Highly recommend.

Very friendly waiting staff but pizza was just okay, not up there with the best in Bristol, the sauce was a little thin and tasteless. Loved the garlic dip.

Amazing pizza bases and sour dough!

Lunch, dinner or both!! Best gluten free sandwiches ever! So hard to find decent sized gluten free rolls anywhere but coming here for my lunch every so often is more than worth it. Filled nicely and a lovely selection of fillings. Would get one every day if I could. Also had a pizza here a few months back that was just as tasty. Definitely wouldn’t recommend anywhere else if you’re visiting/ living around Gloucester Road!

As of the 15th of December 2023: I had an Al Pollo pizza that was delicious. They go for the thin style crust here, but since the sauce is not too watery the dough has a great crisp on the crust with minimal charring, and the amount of toppings doesn't leave the pizza feeling lacking. There is nothing about the pizza I personally found fault with. Decent wine selection, i had the Torre Rosazza that really good. For dessert I had a scoop of the espresso and amaretto ice cream and they were divine. I dislike the barrel shaped tumbler drinking glasses and this particular restaurant could do with some kind of interior divider to stop the cold air coming through (though i was one of the closest seats to the door). That being said, these things should not deter you from going in the slightest, a really enjoyable experience.

Came here on a business trip on a rather quiet Monday night. Myself and my associates were served by a wonderful waitress, Bel. We had three pizzas and a couple cocktails each, all were simply incredible. Service was so fast, even as the restaurant got busier with only Bel on front of house, we were well catered to and look after. I’d undeniably recommend to my friends and colleagues

Fabulous pizza, subs and drinks, lovely friendly staff and reasonably priced too, even boxed up the pizza to take home that I couldn't finish, would definitely go back and will be recommending TDK to others.

My dinner here was absolutely delicious and hit the spot perfectly. It’s my first night in Bristol and a found this through a cursory map search. The ambience is lovely, the servers are so sweet, and my food was SO good. I had the chicken and crispy pancetta salad (please just trust me) and the cheesy garlic bread (I could sleep in it it’s so soft and warm and cheesy). You can tell the quality of the ingredients and the chefs. I’m fully intending to be back.

Delicious pizza and consistently lovely service. Go here all the time :) Best ice cream in the UK hands down.

Great place!! Food is super tasty (the dough is just 🤤), the staff is very friendly and I loved the atmosphere with good music. Everything was perfect 👌🏼 I also tried the homemade ice-creams: delicious. Definitely needs to be checked out while in Bristol :)

Got my first Deliveroo delivery from them today. Wow! I won’t be going anywhere else. Brilliant value for money and absolutely gorgeous pizza.

Lovely that dogs are allowed in for lunchtime. Aperol spritz could have been stronger and maybe a bit cheaper, £15 for two is a lot more than anywhere else on gloucester road. Staff lovely, food great, can't wait to come back x

Well we arrived quite late and I was starting to feel a little grumpy… that all changed when I arrived here! My humans ordered a pizza and some beers and I ordered myself some ham! And ohhhhhh boy what a portion 😋 so delicious and so much food! 5 paws from me

Food tasted good. Went to the back and saw the creature they get the dough from. It begged me to kill it but I declined in favour of a free large 'al pollo' pizza and a can of sprite.

Go for lunch here pretty regularly and thought I’d finally write a review! The waitresses are super welcoming and friendly and even when it’s busy the service is pretty quick. The subs are delicious and incredible value. The pizza is also very good. My favourite dishes here are the vegan green salad and the roasted polenta. Highly recommended! Definitely worth a visit 😆😆

Brilliant place, Sarah our waitress was amazing! Very attentive, and very friendly. Food was Incredibly tasty, and we were shocked at how good value everything was. £100 for 4 people, a few extra drinks, a shared started and some deserts!! We will certainly be back.

Lovely design, atmosphere is great. Service also great. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. My 4 year old was staring at kitchen while our pizza was made and guys were nice :) Got a lot of help and recommendation while placing our order.

Two stars for Pizza; we all got a make your own pizza with lots of ingredients on all of them and none of they really had any flavour. I've done one star because the garlic mayo doesn't taste like garlic at all.

overall awful experience. we waited for our margarita pizza for about an hour if not longer, while other people who came in after us, got theirs quicker. it felt like we had been forgotten. we had to get it in a takeaway box, due to the LONG wait. we tried it the next morning but it tasted like cardboard. I would not recommend going here.

This place is sooo good! Pizza is awesome but I always do for the small salad and small Boca sandwich. It is always delicious. And free sparkling water so makes a cheap meal out. Highly recommend.

This is one of my favourite places, I've been at least 3 times a week since it's opened.. sour dough subs are to die for , so good I've not tried any of the other delicious choices 😋 😜

A really intimate little place on Gloucester Road & it’s well decorated in a clean, warm & modern style. We read really great things about TDK so we’re excited to try but sadly the food was just a little bit so so & mediocre. Whilst it was perfectly acceptable, based on the reviews we expected wow! The pizzas looked nice & the toppings generous but they really lacked flavour. I always have the classic margarita as feel it’s a bench mark pizza & it really didn’t have any flavour. The tomato sauce wasn’t strong or tangy, the cheese was plainer than plain & without any seasoning or without much flavour from the dough it was quite lacklustre. The bases on 2 of our pizzas as well were very very chewy, dry and quite hard to eat. The garlic bread was well portioned & the garlic butter was super tasty but there was FAR too much cheese on top to the point where we ended up leaving 1/2 due to it being chewy and overpowering. The polenta cubes, whilst interesting weren’t for us as they had a strange texture .. and almost tasted exactly like wheat crunchy crisps. Where I can’t fault TDK is the staff. The staff were attentive, helpful & really happy to explain the dishes, sizes and offer opinions which was lovely. We were also not left just standing around, were seated & served quickly in a polite manner. We wouldn’t go back simply due to the fact the food was disappointing & quite pricey for veggie pizzas.

It's perfectly fine if not ordinary pizzas. The crust is too thick on the standard pizzas and the toppings are the very definition of ordinary. I just couldn't possibly see what makes this restaurant stand out any more than the hundreds of other pizza places in Bristol

A lovely evening with some friends at The Dough Kitchen. I opted to create my own pizza and I must say the pizza was fresh and the ingredients tasted really good. It was a reasonable price with a menu full of options for everybody. Will definitely be back in the future to try something else from the menu. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Great pizza! Garlic bread is a tad GREASY but that might just be personal preference.

We were SO impressed with TDK last night! They were happy for me to book 2 tables as far apart as possible so my daughter could celebrate her 11th birthday with her friends without us breathing down her neck. When we arrived (a little late as we were coming straight from their drama club), the kids' table was decorated with balloons, which was a really nice touch. They looked after us all really well, including checking with me before taking the kids' orders, just in case there was anything I didn't want them to have, and making sure that they were all sorted. I literally sat with my back to the kids and enjoyed my pizza and wine with my husband and other daughter, without having to think about anything! Obviously the food and service were great and very good value, because they always are at TDK, but I have to sing their praises for being so attentive and hospitable to make our daughter's birthday really special. The kids each got to take home a set of balloons, for which apparently they aren't too old! Thank you so much TDK

Excellentes pizzas et personnel très sympathique.

I’m very picky about pizza and this is definitely the best pizza I’ve had in Bristol! My salad and dipping sauce were also really nice. I was especially impressed with the quality of the food as this was food I had delivered to me, and the delivery was late (not the fault of restaurant). Also very good customer service!

Oh wow! We went to the dough kitchen for lunch today and had a sub. It was absolutely delicious and so reasonably priced. I had the caprese sub and the ingredients were so fresh and delicious. A lovely ambience and friendly service. We will definitely be returning!

Amazing service from a lovely group of people, with amazing food and hot drinks. The Christmas pizza was also a very unique meal to have but worked so well, highly recommend it! A delightful little place, you owe it to yourself to go.

I tried their Chorizo Sub and I have to say, that's one of the most perfect sandwiches I've eaten. I am a massive fan of dough and calzone etc. I will happily eat dough on its own with sauce! So this freshly cooked dough style sub was excellent. Reasonably priced and even better at lunch time with a deal price. Service from the young chap that greeted us was stella also, keep up the great work all of you that work there. Will definitely be returning.

Me and my partner discovered this place a couple weeks ago and haven't been able to resist going back multiple times a week. The bread is absolutely gorgeous. They get the flavours exactly right for both the subs and pizza. The sides are really decent, they also have a very reasonable lunch time deal and even offer 10% off to students. We always get takeaway from them for lunch because most of the time it only takes like 10 minutes. Delicious, fresh, homemade food, perfect! Also super friendly, lovely staff who have gotten used to seeing our faces in there a bit too much 😂

I went at lunchtime and since it wasn't busy was served really quickly. I had a delicious sub roll, packed with chorizo, sriracha mayo, cheese and rocket. A really relaxed atmosphere and great food.
