The Doghouse Micro Pub in Weymouth and Portland

Always good regional casks on offer, depending on season, upwards of 3 casks, plus a fridge with good craft cans and bottles. They also have a few ciders in boxes, small wine selection, and a small selection of spirits. A nice little indie bar.

Well what a find. We were new to Weymouth and looking for a good watering hole after walking part of the SW Coast path. The owners are magnificent. Great choice of beer from the barrel. Such a friendly atmosphere. Good banter. If i was going to own a bar/pub then this would be it. You’ve got to go. Thanks Simon

Lovely little find, very welcoming, lovely range of beers, ciders and gin, great little touches like feminine related products in bathroom, would definitely use again if in the area, didn't rate the food as we didn't try that.

Quiet micro pub with a great selection of ales, plus wines and spirits for non beer drinkers. Walls and ceiling decorated with interesting pics and a great beer mat collection.

This is now the must go to for the fishing club when we visit Weymouth. Regular changes of well brewed micro ales stored in casks at the small bar to the rear. Limited seating but the customers shift around to let newcomers enjoy the refreshments. Dog and fisherfolk friendly give this small Oasis a try.

Don't do food good beer and staff are friendly you meet people

Lovely place with a good selection of beers, with a beer style for everyone. The owners are lovely and you can tell they really know their beer and look after it well.

If you like your ale this is well worth a visit perfect ale served from the barrel that's in a temperature controlled room . The hosts are very friendly. Pets welcome

Great micropub. Cask beers served from the barrel (not my favourite method, I prefer a Swan neck with sparkler on) but barrels are racked in a separate temperature controlled room and mine was poured with a good head which lasted well. Friendly staff and locals. Good prices on about 8 casks. Small selection of interesting beers in the fridge too.

The best pub in Weymouth. A perfect friendly real ale bar.

This was a great place! Excellent choice of ales and lagers. We tried everything with a couple of flights and would definitely recommend. The staff are lovely and friendly. I would definitely go back next time in Weymouth.

There are a lot of fresh beers in their chilled larder/cellar (I tried a few beers from Guy Richie's new brewery). Top tip buy 3 tasting beers for a discount price.

If you like real ale this is the place for you. Not remotely pretentious, just good ale. A destination away from the holiday fair for those less interested in mass produced lagers.

Cute micro pub, not easy to find, just stopped for swift half as passing by. Worth looking up.

If you love ale and traditional cider this is the place for you. Very reasonable prices too!

Beer connoisseurs rejoice. The only place to really be in Weymouth to sample real stuff. Visited during the CAMRA festival so the selection was truly brutal. Felt like being in heaven!

Best place so far for a nice drink. Landlord is good host and always ready for a chat. Choice of real local ales. Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Nice playing dog to entertain you and keep you busy for throwing ball. I like that micro pub.

Cracking back street find for a few very decent ales - the bar tapas is a great choice if you want to try several different ones and is also excellent value! Ruddles the dog will likely come and say hi too. Definitely the best ale pub I’ve visited in Weymouth, cannot recommend enough!

Fantastic place with an amazing array of hand pump Ales and other good stuff. Think the number of dogs in the place might have outnumbered the punters but dogs and humans alike were very friendly.

Lovely micro pub with THE best beer I have had in England! The dog, Ruddles is super sweet and the owners very friendly. A low key pub with the best selection of cask ales, gins and ciders. Can’t wait to go back or buy the place!!

Good selection of real ales in a friendly atmosphere.

Enjoyed our visit to The Doghouse, in particular meeting Ruddles the Collie who is clearly the boss. The more tiny spaces given over to keeping decent beer alive the better in our book. Warm welcome recieved and a decent pint too. Would have got five stars but there was only 2 ales on for our visit.

I'm not a massive fan of real ale, but these guys have so much variety, you're sure to find something you like. Great staff, gorgeous dog (love you Ruddles 😍) and a fantastic atmosphere. Drop in for a pint, you won't be disappointed!

Excellent little craft ale bar. Really friendly staff and pub dog who made friends with us. My only criticism and reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the lighting is too bright and with warmer lighting it would be significantly more cosy. And perhaps save some money on running costs too....

If you are visiting Weymouth then this is well worth a visit,so much better than many places in the town, especially the overrated Nothe Tavern All the ales are well kept. The house dog 🐶 is a character.

A good place for people who want to drink good beer and discuss places and tastes.

As with most dog friendly places the punters are too.😊 The resident dog Ruddles is friendly, though his idea of fetch is interesting. There are board games to play if you feel so inclined. I had a lovely glass of rhubarb cider. I heartily recommend it.

As a follow Micropub owner I was embarrassed with the quality of the Ale, literally I was shocked, came in after a stag do, ordered 5 pints as the first pint was delivered on the Bsr I told people in my party don't drink it, No life, no taste, no future, cannot believe your in the good beer guide........shocking

Friendly knowledgeable staff,very friendly dog,who likes playing catch.

Very disappointed. Only 3 beers to choose from. Not only that I bumped into the owner in another pub later in the evening and overhead him say to a couple of guys he was sat with that he didn't like people coming in his pub and wanting to talk to him especially about beer. He just wanted em to get a beer and go sit down. He also said he didn't want people going on about different beers from around the country (which I had been with both his pals) so I opologised to him if I'd been boring him. He said was just a pub landlord. I told him running a micro pub implies he's got an interest in beer but he said he hadn't so I told him I'd never go in his place again.

Not been to Weymouth since before lock down so it was nice to find a micro brewery with a nice selection of ale fair play to the dog house I've been in the dog house a few times but this is the best one

Our friend supports real ale and has a CAMRA card and wherever he goes we end up having a drink in a micro pub or bar. Today was the dog house in Weymouth .clean tidy friendly place . Good choice of ale,s apparently.. Prob get around 25- 30 people seated so not too micro :)

Had a tapas of ales, not really a lunchtime drink for me, 3x 1/3 ales, very nice but one was 6%, too heavy for daytime drinking, Ruddles the dog likrs to play catch with his ball. Realy worth a visit.
