Live act cancelled again. Found out when we arrived. They keep advertising bands but they never happen.

We had a lovely Sunday Lunch at the Dog & Gun yesterday, there were 8 of us eating, we all had the standard size lunch with a mixture between us of Chicken, Pork and Beef, we all had the standard size which cost £6.95 and we were all full to the brim, don’t think we could’ve managed the large! (£8.95) Will definitely be going back!

Called in as passing. Sunday dinner was amazing. Just the right size - not overfacing. Beautiful vegetables. Husband got large £8.95 and I got small £6.95. Coke was a bit overpriced at around £3 per pint - but given the food price, it sort of evened itself out. Definitely call to this quaint little pub again.

It's our second time here. Pleasant service, from the bar man. I pressume it was the landlady who came around, seemed to be a nice lady. Few dirty tables left a little too long, particularly when staff were seen just stood around. However it was a Sunday so I expect it had been busy. Food looks great and tasty. Definitely come back for drinks and food.

The food was absolutely delicious (especially the Yorkshire puddings and beef), we was served straight away and we did not have to wait long for the food to arrive. The staff was very polite and was also very clean too. We will definitely be coming back again especially for the Sunday dinners.

This is a lovely local bar with a great selection of drinks. It is more expensive than the other pubs in the area. The lady serving us was very hard working but remained friendly. She really needed more help as the evening went on and things got busy. We would have stopped for another, but we would have had to wait too long in these circumstances. Would call in again because it is lovely clean friendly pub.

We arrived at 2.15 on a Sunday, planning to have lunch. Despite finding a table we were told we could not order as the table was pre booked. Fair enough, but an hour later still no people had arrived. We tried again to order and were told again, no more orders, we've got bookings. We could have eaten, paid and left in the time they were refusing to serve us. We live locally. Won't be back.

Having heard good vibes on the local grapevine about the Sunday lunch, I visited today with my wife and friends. Sadly after over an hour's wait we left without food after suffering some rather offhand and offensive service from "Cody" who seemed to have fallen out with us from the minute we entered the premises. I don't know what we did other than request lunch and readily accepted we may have to wait for 30 to 40 minutes. However we were never advised of any change to our status in the queue and eventually left after over an hour later with a rather unpleasant exchange with said barmaid. I don't think I'll be back.

We moved to the area a few weeks ago, and decided to try the Sunday roast today. I had a very tasty chicken dinner: it was lovely to actually be able taste the veg, as it had clearly been cooked with care and not boiled to death/sat in oil for ages, like so many other roast dinners! The landlady genuinely cared about whether we enjoyed our meal, and I thought that it was good value for money overall. This pub is a stone’s throw from our new place, and we will definitely be back for food again.

We are on our canal boat on the Leeds Liverpool canal and staying at Apperley Bridge for a few days. We had tried most of the pubs near the canal over the last couple of years (see our other reviews) and they are very pleasant. Hadn't tried this one before (in fact, when we were here last year, I don't remember it being open but I understand there is a new landlady now). Anyway, after walking up Harrogate Road to get supplies at Sainsbury’s we were on our way back down to the canal and noticed that the Dog & Gun was doing a full Sunday Roast, with all the trimmings, for only £8.95 (smaller portions for £6.95.) Thought we would give it a go and are very glad we did. We received a warm welcome from the bar staff and decided to sit out on the very nice patio as we had our dog with us (although we were offered to sit inside as dogs are welcome throughout the pub). We had a very nice Saltaire Blonde from Saltaire Brewery to drink and ordered two large beef roast dinners. When it arrived we were astonished at the amount of meat on our plates. They don't stint here. Two Yorkie puds, roast tatties, carrots, peas, cabbage, stuffing and really tasty gravy. We were well and truly stuffed. It was well presented, well cooked and excellent value for money. The whole lot, including drinks came to less than £25 and was the best roast dinner we have had at a pub for ages. Absolute bargain. The only surprising thing was that the place wasn't packed out but I suppose it will take a while for the good news to spread that a new landlady is doing such a good job. Great food and lovely staff. I would urge visitors and locals to give this pub a go- I don't think you'll be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Sunday was recommended by friends to try, so we did and were not disappointed. This pub has a new landlady - Denise (for about 2 months) and has started doing Sunday lunches 3 weeks ago. Fantastic Sunday lunch with all the trimming including mash (a lot of places forget this) I had the beef, lovely and the wife had pork and was lovely as well Good value for money Nice friendly staff Will definitely be going again Nice beer garden/patio at the rear if you want to go "al fresco "

We went after a recommendation of this Pub The Roast Dinners were excellent only slightly let down by the roasts.Three of our Party had Roast Beef whilst I tried the trio of meats all meats were excellent and thickly cut.The mash was excellent, only one of our Party had room for pudding and this looked excellent. Will definitely visit again

Sunday lunch with family. A great choice of Sunday meals, traditional & other. I had the 3 meats Sunday dinner. When it was brought to the table I was not disappointed. Others in the group ordered sausage & mash & traditional Sunday dinner. No one was disappointed by meals served. Thickly sliced meat, homemade Yorkshire puds, real mash potatoes & roasts.

Best Sunday lunch for miles everything freshly cooked , because it is all freshly cooked there is a slight wait but it was Sunday and the draught beer on offer is excellent (Tetleys and Saitaire blond) with a good choice of lagers (Coors, Parva, berroti and Carling).

I was looking for somewhere new to try that was dog friendly, that wasn’t too far away. I searched for the previous pub name as always wanted to try it and realised it was under new management. When we arrived it wasn’t busy but we had a warm greeting and had a choice of tables. The decor is really nice and cosy and our dog was given a bowl of water. We chose from the grill menu which was exceptional value and included a drink, chose Madri. We both had sirloin steak with all the trimmings including sauce and it was really good, piping hot and tasty. As it was a warm night we ordered another drink and sat outside overlooking the amazing view. We will be back for grill night and to try the main menu which had reasonable prices for food and wine. We aim to support local business and have told friends about this place, some have booked for next week already. If you want a good country pub without rip off prices (which most seem to have) then give this a try. Inside has fires and twinkly lights which will be lovely in winter. Service was welcoming and friendly and we are looking forward to our next visit. We will get a taxi so we can have a few drinks. No photos of the food but here is one of the view.

What a shame; so much history and absolute pride of place on this beautiful high street and the owners have created an absolutely soulless tourist trap with zero character 😔 having said that, prices weren't too expensive for the area so not all bad I guess.

Home From Home is one of four cafes in Kirkgate Market. I had a Full English breakfast which was well cooked and presented with toast and a cup of tea, friendly service, clean and good value.
