Another fabulous night, took our friends and family with us this time, and all said how fantastic the food and service is, all ten of us enjoyed all the food and drink we had. This family run traditional Turkish Mediterranean restaurant is the best restaurant in town by a mile. Thank you for another fab night xx

Ate there Saturday 5th. Food very good, very tasty, well presented and unlike a number of restaurants we have been to lately food was HOT! We will certainly be going back. Only downside the restaurant was uncomfortably cold, a few customers asked to be moved to other tables away from entrance door, which the staff did do.

My wife and I tried this restaurant last night (3rd April 25). We were greeted by a very friendly young lady ( she did tell me her but i have the memeory of a gild fish) who made us feel welcome straight away, the atmosphere was very nice the we had a calamari to share and the complimentary bread and dips, all full of flavour and fresh, for main I had the chicken shish my wife had the mixed shish ll, portion sizes were perfect and the meat was great quality and full of flavour. The young lady that greeted us also served us, she was always smiling checked to make sure we were happy with everything and when we finished our meal we even had a little chat which was lovely. This was our first time at this restaurant but won't be the last. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Everything was absolutely amazing apart from the baklava! Would of been 5 stars if the baklava was fresh. It was stale and very hard and tasted musty BUT everything else was superb. The staff and service were spot on, all the waitresses had a smile and were very helpful and friendly. The large platter for 3 (on the menu it only says platter for 2 or 4 but they can tweak the size and price for the number of guests which is great) it was so lovely! Different kinds of perfectly cooked meats, amazing potatoes , rice and salad and a couple of lovely cold and hot sides. The wine was great too. Will be back soon.

Best Turkish food you can find in UK

Fabulous chicken and lamb shish kebab very tender with plenty of flavour but for us the star of the show was the 'Hot Helva' desert. Never had it anyway before but if you like tahini you're in for a treat.

We went for a meal after looking at the reviews and were not disappointed. The food is freshly cooked to order and therefore takes a while, so expect to wait a little longer than other restaurants. Beautifully presented and deliciously tasty and most definitely worth the wait though. They also cater for individual palates too, so you can ask for your dish to be tweaked if needed … ie minus garlic! The deserts are incredible … would highly recommend the baklava! We met the owners who were so welcoming and can’t wait to visit again.

Great night, restaurant was cold and I was sat in a draught

We visited here for the second time last night and can’t express just how lovely this place is. On both occasions the food has been absolutely divine, the waitress more than helpful with us and our grandson (even fetching him some pens & paper to play with) and the service has been exceptional. I had the vegetarian mushroom & halloumi, my daughter the pasta and my husband chicken iskender. All were beautiful. We will definitely be continued repeat customers. Thank you

Brilliant meal, accommodated us at short notice on New Year's Eve and we are so happy they did. The food was excellent, the service brilliant, friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was spot on. Highly recommended!

The staff were absolutely spot on and very attentive. The food was nice but certainly had alot better but the prices were so high, our meal for 2 people was over £110. Definitely one of the most expensive places I've been and I go out regularly. The other down side is the decor.... it looks and feels like a restaurant in a theme park. Would I go back, no but I definitely had alot worse

Wow, how surprised were we!!! Went here for the first time last night, just called in on spec, and despite it being empty bar two other people (of course it was a Sunday night), which sometimes puts us off going in places, but so pleased we did go in this time, as the food was fantastic! Quality food cooked well, great services and some very different dishes that we have not tried before and loved them. We had two starters of liver and courgette fritters, all so fresh and cooked perfectly, you get complimentary tzatziki and a relish type dip and that was so fresh, we ordered bread to go with it and the bread was so light, we couldn't get over what a find this is. Then for our main we had the Chefs Special whish was a mixture of various ways of cooked lamb, with roast pots and rice with a sauce, which was also amazing and then a turkish salad which was also fabulously fresh and tasty. Followed by a turkish desert to share, Hot Helva, which included molasses and pistachio, again never had anything like it before and it was delicious. Great beer and house wine, lovely service with a smile, great interior. Highly recommend this place, we will definitely be back, so many more dishes to try. Thanks Divan.

The best restaurant in Chesterfield !

Love this place! We've been 3/4 times now and it’s always consistent and a great experience. The lady always remembers us and engages in conversation and it feels more friendly and heartfelt than most restaurants.

Visited this establishment from afar which is just as well otherwise we would be eating here every week. The food was unbelievable.The service top notch it’s a pity that we chose a time when hardly any diners.

Got lucky. Just turned up at 4pm and wasn't busy so we got a table. Excellent food, chargrilled chicken and lamb with fried potatoes and really tasty fresh bread. Very recommended 👌

This was the best meal I have had in a restaurant for a long time. The service was excellent and the the staff were very friendly. I had the Lamb Beyti which was incredible. I'm not usually a big fan of desserts but tried the Hot Helva. It was amazing! We will definitely be coming back.

Visited on a Saturday evening and to be honest some Turkish food can be underwhelming relying on spicy heat and over spiced cumin to sell itself, however a trip to Divan changed my outlook on this cuisine. I had the Mixed Grill main with a very hot bowl of chips but everything on the plate was excellent. Even the rice had flavour, and was cooked to perfection. Service excellent throughout. I can see why they were busy. The picture doesn't have the lamb chop on as it was just being finished off. Overall an excellent meal.

4 of us dined last Saturday and had two of the set meals for 2 people. There was lots of food, variety to try different elements and reasonably priced. Family run restaurant and all staff were great and very informative. The waitress (daughter) was so passionate about the food (particularly telling us about the Turkish rice pudding when we asked) and the service was great. We'll be back and wanting to try the Baklava, which had been too popular on our visit, but highly recommend the rice pudding!

Good food but wired attitude from the waitress. Ordered the 2 mixed grill platter and asked for tape water. The waitress came with 2 bottles of branded water and opened both in the kitchen! Of course I had a company with me so did not make a big fuss about it. The food was good but portions were small for the price. Finally, we asked for the bill and the waitress asked for her tip which she suggested 5£. Anyway, she had what she asked for but that was not a very nice attitude. Don’t think I would go again.

Food was nice, but a little pricey. Dips came before the meal, but we were told that we had to purchase the bread to go with them. When the main meal came I ask for more of the dip which came on a side plate and not a great amount might I say. When I got the bill they had charged me £6.50 for this dip which is excessive. Just be cautious of ordering anything additional. That charge put a dampener on our first visit, and sadly we will not be returning due to hidden costs.

A group of friends for a catch up. Great food, friendly service and great value for money. We had a few starters to share between us and all had mains. All enjoyed. Lively atmosphere without being distracting or overwhelming. We'll all be revisiting.

Went to Divan last night for the first time. The food was delicious, the Turkish bread and hummus was a lovely starter! The chicken shish wasn't dry and full of flavour and well presented. The price was good and we left feeling full! Would definitely go back!

We ordered several grilled food items on a Saturday early dinner meal with friends. The food did take a while to come out but was fresh hot and tasty (can't comment on the rest of the menu). Unfortunately the experience was let down by the customer services skills of the lady owner / manger (I assume). Each of our party members arrived staggered over 20 mins and each time we were badgered by this lady about arrival times. Rather passive aggressive and in turn became annoying. Multiple times kept being asked to order drinks which we didn't want to. In the end we were charged even for the small pots of ketchup/ mayo which we felt was rather petty. Another large party booked at the same time clearly had cancelled / no show. So why not show some kindness and respect to the large group your already have through the door? Lovely food let down by staff customer service I'm afraid.

Myself and my partner enjoyed a beautiful meal here this evening, we both had the chef special and it was cooked to perfection. The owner was very welcoming and friendly she talked with us and even had a joke or 2 to make us laugh, there was plenty of time to enjoy our meal no rushing to clear away. Will definitely return.

We had a work colleagues 60th birthday meal in this restaurant and the food, service and place was just exceptional. We even changed our Christmas Party meal from another restaurant to come back to this one instead. They couldn't do enough for us, the waitress was so bubbly and lovely and we met the chef and thanked him personally for the lovely fresh food. Can't wait to go back

First time eating Turkish food in the East Midlands and was not disappointed. They had a new chef so the meal want quick but service was pretty good ....and the food was superb. I had a chicken shish which was cooked perfectly, served with sauteed potatoes, boiled rice and a salad ....and there was a good portion too. The manager (?) also had a wicked sense of humour as well! Ala in all, a lovely evening with friends and great food.

Was looking forward to trying this place. Service was appalling mixed up orders, didn't bring extra drinks. Table booked at 8pm taxis booked 10.15 we had 10 mins to spare after eating mains to pay bill and run for ride home. Food mediocre and we didn't enjoy it as had to rush our food. Won't be going back again.

It’s not in the nicest area of Chesterfield but is centrally located so that’s OK. The food was good but nothing more than good and a couple of dishes were forgotten so arrived after others had finished. The biggest disappointment was no Gluten Free bread, which was required as we ordered various dips (as you would when in a Turkish/Mediterranean) and we did ask, it’s so easily available from any supermarket (GF pitta) so V disappointed in that. The girl server was very good and attentive but the guy serving drinks was a bit disorganised and forgot glasses then needed reminding re water. A nice family run restaurant.

We live in north London close to loads of really good Turkish restaurants, so it's a real pleasure to find an excellent, family-run one back in my hometown. Great food, clearly made with love, and very friendly, attentive service. Very much hope this remains a fixture of the town centre for years to come.

I recently dined at Divan Turkish Restaurant and had an incredible experience. The food was absolutely gorgeous. We ordered the fillet steak and the lamb beyti, both of which were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The food is also *Halal* The restaurant's decor is lovely, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. Additionally, the staff were super friendly and attentive, making us feel very welcome throughout our meal. The pricing is quite fair, considering the quality of the food and the excellent service. I highly recommend Divan Turkish Restaurant for anyone looking for delicious Turkish cuisine in a beautiful setting.

The food is delicious. We first went on Valentine’s Day in 2023 and dined there several times since then. The family run business is very hospitable. In one occasion we were all served the best rice pudding. Highly recommend this place to have a welcoming dining experience of delicious Turkish food.

Found this place by chance after seeing Jimmy Carr and I must say it was a pleasant visit. The food was amazing and fresh. The staff answered any questions we had and nothing was too much trouble. Only reason the atmosphere didn’t get 5* is because the lighting isn’t that great so when it darkened outside it was rather dark inside. There was also a larger group who started to shout to one another the more they drank, all harmless but just a different atmosphere towards the end of the night. Would 100% return! Both left stuffed, and even tried some new things. Would 100% recommend the minced beef parcels and the platter for 2.

Stumbled across Divan whilst staying overnight in Chesterfield, very glad we did! The atmosphere was great, the service was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Food was delicious and well presented. If we lived closer this would be a regular haunt. Thank you!

This was our second visit after finding it last year on our annual jaunt. Food is excellent and the lady owner makes you very welcome. The baklava was beautiful!

Pros - The bread selection at the restaurant was commendable, freshly baked options that were a delight to the palate. - Several menu items stood out for their flavor and quality, indicating that the kitchen has some strong offerings. Cons: - Unfortunately, the experience was marred by less-than-stellar service. The staff seemed disorganized and at times unprofessional. - There was an issue with billing accuracy, which is a basic expectation for any dining establishment. We were provided hand written bills and demanded cash. - The staff's demeanor came off as overly demanding, which can be uncomfortable for guests. - Additionally, the pricing felt exorbitant for the value received, making it difficult to justify a return visit. Final Verdict: While there are some culinary highlights, particularly the bread and select dishes, the negatives in service and pricing significantly detract from the overall experience. Diners looking for a seamless and welcoming experience might consider looking elsewhere. Also in most Turkish restaurants we visited, bread basket comes free as default.

It's a really great place. Friendly staff. Spotlessly clean and great food. We had a free bread basket with the meal and some dipping sauces. I had the Turkish pastrami rolls for a starter. I really could have had just a plate full of them for a main. Really crispy and delicious. The main was Lamb beyti. This was packed with flavour and also delicious! For dessert I had Baklava. This was the star of the food really tasty.

Just been once again to the Divan, this time to celebrate my husband’s birthday. As always the food was superb the service was excellent and the staff were wonderful. Would highly recommend the Divan for a casual evening with friends or for something more special like a birthday dinner.

Rude uncaring staff. Stingy portion we’ve been several times potatoes now mixed in with meat to bulk it out. 6 pieces of kebab meat for £19,95. I complained and waitress shrugged her shoulders and continued to argue with me Restaurant cold no atmosphere

It took me a year to finally find this good restaurant in Chesterfield, it has been recommended by a colleague at work, and I would happily say this’s the best restaurant recommendation of this year. Let me tell you why!! The moment I walked in Bisa has greeted me with a smile and kindness, and nicely asked me where would I like to sit. Then the journey of kindness and hospitality didn’t end until they I left. Honestly I felt like am having dinner at home and to be honest here is better because the one in the kitchen knows his way around food, and when I say he knows it! trust my words he does. I have tried turkish food all over the UK and by far the food here is the most authentic and delicious Turkish, they kinda took my joke away when friends ask me to recommend a good Turkish restaurant I tell them go to turkey 😅😅now am obligated to tell them about this good one. I won’t even bother you explaining the food just go and try it and if am wrong I will upload a humiliation picture of me and you decide the humiliation. So to sum this up, food is yummy, desserts are made by magic and the service is delightful. Kudos to the chef and his daughter Bisa. This’s what I call a good family business where the customers are treated just like family 👌🏼 See you soon when am again visiting Chesterfield.

Fantastic evening out as a family for the missus's birthday last week. Service was very friendly and attentive, and portions were very generous. The food was so good that we asked for a doggy bag, couldn't bear the thought of all that delicious food we couldn't finish going to waste! Will be going back soon :)

If you are looking for an authentic Turkish dining experience then this restaurant is a must! We haven’t dined out in a while so our expectations were quite high and we were not disappointed.. the front of house were incredibly friendly and attentive .. the food was excellent.. main courses are quite large so be warned make sure you are hungry!! The Turkish bread with dips was a beautiful accompaniment to the meal .. excellent restaurant we will be back with the family!

I feel bad for not reviewing this after each visit because we've been several times since it opened and it gets better every time. The staff are super friendly but the food is incredible. We often go for the Turkish sausage starter but their fresh bread with Turkish salsa and tzatziki is so good if you've got the appetite for it! The chicken and halloumi shish is my favourite. We've been given a complimentary rice pudding at the end a couple of times which has also been lovely. It's generally a quiet restaurant from our experience which makes for a refreshing change and a nice release after a busy day. Highly recommended!
