Fantastic a young man served us gang,,beer great and wine loverly afternoon,we are hre for the weekend

Good place, and they play good music.

Visited for a baby shower during the afternoon. Nice staff, accommodating, well ventilated if a hot day and all very well organised

Very quiet but fine by us as only there for an after dinner drink. The cocktails were good value (2 for £12) and was nice that we could have 2 different ones. Seating outside is nice.

Popped in with a friend for drinks. Had awesome time and good drinks. I went for beers anyway.

Came for some food, was told to wait while they updated the menu, then was offered a menu of 3 main options, of which all where burgers and then told to wait 20 as the kitchen doesn't open until 4, even though they advertise food served from 12. Very confused. Don't recommend.

I’m not originally from Derby, but whenever I visit I always make sure I stop off here! Every time I’ve been the staff have been so attentive, the atmosphere is excellent, drinks are bang on and the evening in general is always a great one when spent here!

Love the cocktails with basil, and also watermelon!! Great service, thanks to Lotus and Omar, who sorted me out. And thank you to Taylor, for the recommendations!

Always enjoy a meal at the Distillery. The staff, especially Lotus, are so helpful and attentive with their recommendations and the service is second to none. I really like trying the different cocktails - always something different to try and again, staff are knowledgeable and will suggest something to your taste.

Great atmosphere and neat environment

Iv seen some negative reviews on here how can this be?I came down from south on the weekend for a party and I’m going to tell you that this place was brilliant,from start to finish ,from the door staff to the service at the bar,and the DJ /Music ,Fantastic ,I would go as far and say it was like a night out in the 90”s era -Great people no trouble,Best place to go out in derby by a country mile,I’ll definitely be back here 💯

Bar staff were rude while serving us, would understand if it was busy but was quite quiet. The owner was rude and obnoxious, when spending upwards of £100 on drinks would expect a bit of respect.

Lift not working, which made it very hard due to mobility difficulties in our party

There was one member of staff who was just so aggressive and even threatened to knock me out just because I told him I thought he was being rude. Ruined the whole experience.

We had our work Christmas party at The Distillery last night and the team haven’t stopped talking about how fab the food and the venue was! I cannot thank Taylor and the team enough for being so accommodating (especially as we had some VERY last minute changes) and the service was absolutely fab (shout out Harvey for being wonderful!) The food was so delicious and catered for any and all dietary restrictions if needed. The venue itself is really nice and the table was set up beautifully! I’d really recommend The Distillery for both events and just as a great place to go in Derby! I’ll definitely keep them in mind the next time we have to organise a do!

We are a hockey club who have used The Distillery for a number of years for our Xmas Meal, using the upstairs function area. We have always been delighted by the staff, service and flexibility of the team. They communicate quickly and will adapt seating and numbers willingly if needed. They always bring the food in a well coordinated and timely manner and have had no issues with the quality or taste of the food. They make great cocktails and the bar service is quick. Great value for money and overall a great night is had. This year we had 30 people and we all enjoyed the whole experience, as we have always.

Food overcooked but otherwise a good place

Went in here for a pre-drink service fabulous.

The atmosphere is almost what you choose it to be. Cosy, buzzing, whatever, great place for a sit down or celebration. The staff are great - look out for Lotus! Her abilities to accommodate surpass expectations, she has time and again made my custom feel valued.

Went shortly after it opened on a lunch time as going elsewhere nearby for lunch. Only people in but did not feel awkward. Not the cheapest place but good quality gin and tonic.

a few of my friends & i headed to the distillery derby for some cocktails last week & we were not disappointed !! particularly lotus behind the bar was phenomenal, she recommended delicious & good looking drinks for each of us after telling her our individual preferences !! if you’re in the local area, couldn’t recommend more

Came down to Derby from Manchester for my Birthday and the Distillery alone was worth it, Lotus who served us was so friendly and kind honestly was just a wonderful part of the night, drinks were wonderful and the atmosphere was amazing!

I have enjoyed my experience at the distillery. Lovely cocktails, all topped off by the lovely server Lotus. She made me and my family feel welcome when we were celebrating a joint birthday, being attentive to my cousins allergies and speedy service finished off with a wonderful smile. A true asset to the team! I’ve been a few times previously and my experience has always been fantastic whenever I have been served by her.

I'm going to start from entrance. Door staff great makes me feel safe. Bar staff always welcoming face and they know their stuff how it should be. Overall ok place just a bit overpriced but u get what u pay 4.

Great music on a Saturday night, but be becareful when paying cash. The friendly bar staff like returning you 'euro' coins for pounds. You know who you are bar tender.

Utterly fantastic food and service. We stopped by this location completely by chance and didn't intend to eat here. We saw a nice spot in the sun and thought we'd give it a go. They had just opened and Kyle was really welcoming. We had a look over the food and found two choices. Jerk Chicken burger and Rack and Ribs. We also had Halloumi fries on the side. Little did we know what was going to arrive. Simply the best food we've had out in months. The spices on the ribs, the flavour, the quality of food, and the amount of food were incredible. The burger was tasty, the parmesan and truffle chips were just delicious. I was sat constantly amazed at just how good it all was. I followed it up with an iced coffee and enjoyed it all. I really can not underestimate how good the food was. This is a must-go to venue. A big shout out to Kyle who served us, and Paul the chef (I found out their names when leaving to thank them)

Walked past on a sunny Friday afternoon but almost didn't enter as it looked closed. Barman brought the cocktail out to our table. Decent cocktail.

We had a private party in the upstairs room, staff were so friendly and polite. They had created a lovely cocktail menu for the birthday girl, which was amazing. The food was lovely, well presented and included lots of vegetarian options. Great atmosphere, lots of seating areas and dance space.

Fantastic drinks and food, attentive and friendly staff. Will definitely come again. Disappointed however that the website promotes Happy Hour Deals Tues-Fri, as well as 2-4-1 burgers on Wednesdays, AND there's a board inside by the door promoting Happy Hour 12-9pm, yet none of these turned out to be real deals and my bill was twice as much as I was expecting. Would have been more disappointed if it wasn't such good food and drink.

Ok with decent atmosphere on a Saturday night. Nothing to get excited about though

My friend and a few others tried to come in, they told us no hoodies which is understandable, we said we’d take jackets off as it was cold then told my black friend to place his hoodie “by the bin” this is unacceptable and quite frankly racism. Telling someone of colour to “place their hoodie” by the bin is disgusting and to be honest it’s really ruined the ratings from security,.

Door staff highly rude and ignorant, was refused entry because my coat had a hood, its -4 outside ofcourse I'm going to be wearing a coat! Appalling profiling by the door staff, not every 1 is a hoodie wearing hoodlum

Came her with My daughter who is Vegan for some food. Although there is only one vegan option on the main menu, my daughter could not praise it enough. I had two small plates, pulled pork tacos were out of this world. Honey glaze buffalo chicken wings were cool to perfection with two fantastic dips. The staff were first class. Efficient, polite and nothing is too much trouble. I can not recommend this place enough.

It’s so nice to find a gem like this place in this dump called derby! XD polite and attentive staff, wonderful food, cater for vegans and gluten free.

A lovely bar, with friendly, enthuastic staff. Amazing range of spirits, we hope they've managed to sorce some Artemi honey rum for the next time we go in. Deserves to be busier than it was, although we were there early doors

Me, my partner and some friends came here for some drinks and a bite to eat. We were sat upstairs opposite the bar and could not fault the service as was quick and polite. The cocktails were some of the best we'd had and we nearly tried all of them between us. The drinks were satisfyingly strong and plenty to choose from. For food, me and my partner ordered the grazing platter to share but unfortunately looked better than it tasted as was quite dry. Overall, The Distillery had a warm ambience and was most enjoyable to dine at.

best place to go on a night out or for even just afternoon drinks. the staff are incredibly friendly and give out brilliant recommendations, walking you through what is in each drink. if you want to go out in derby, this is the place to go.

A good place to go out for a nightclub

Muy agradable local para tomar unas cervezas en Derby. Si el tiempo lo permite, mejor al aire libre. También se puede comer algo (calidad normal). La atención es amable como en casi casi casi todos los locales de UK. Estamos a años luz en hostelería en España. Allí no encuentras a un camarero borde o “listillo” y todo todo todo el personal de hostelería va con ropa limpia. Aquí no ocurre eso salvo el restaurantes de nivel alto.

We intended on staying for one drink but stayed for mutiple drinks due to their warm welcome, drinks recommendations and knowledge. Felt comfortable and like the staff take their time to understand customers, left me feeling like nothing is too much effort. Will defo return and recommend based on this experience.

Very tasty cocktails and great music choice. Lovely building and a nice atmosphere. Good value. Only giving 3 stars as I nearly didn’t get let in by the bouncers (never had this problem before)

The drinks here are very nice. It's very dark inside which gives an intimate atmosphere. Not a massive amount of seating. Service can be really slow and whilst the food has always been good, the menu availability has been limited and again, does take a while to receive. Often seems to be only one person working the bar. Toilets always seem to be in poor state- not sure how frequently they are addressed during a Friday or Saturday night. Always worth going to for a drink, but it tends to be a flying visit these days.

Taste wise: the best cocktails we've had for a while. They even made us some that weren't on the menu. Favourite person behind the bar was Nat: customer service at its best - they're lucky to have her.

My partner and I went to try some whisky there and what a lovely time we had. The barman had a good knowledge of the whiskies. We had our first taste of "an old fashioned ", which had a great flavour. He then made us a "rum Caribbean cocktail ", our last one was one we wanted him to surprise us with, and that was good too. We loved the service and they were very welcoming. We will definitely go back

We had the most amazing evening at the Distillery for a Cocktail Masterclass on Saturday 19th March led by Parveen, Chris and Omar! They put so much thought into it and thought of every detail - quizzes, competitions and fancy equipment! (They all clearly knew their stuff too and were really informative). The communication prior to the Masterclass was amazing and on the day they were so accommodating/helpful and really went above and beyond. We really couldn’t have asked for a better evening and would come back in a heartbeat! Thanks so much to you all!

I came in with a group of 4 ladies for drinks for my birthday, the drinks were fabulous as always and we had a great time. The waiter was incredibly attentive and friendly with excellent recommendations for our cocktail preferences. Would definitely come again and have food, amazing!

Me and my partner decided to give The Distillery a try for valentines weekend. We were greeted quickly on arrival, advised they have a lot of staff on but to be patient as it’s busy . We appreciated being prewarned, despite being told this the wait wasn’t too long but the amount of time we waited was worth every second for the quality of food and drinks we received . The food was very tasty . The staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. We had a minor issue whilst eating our food but didn’t make a deal about it as it’s hard to find a place that has food of this quality these days and it didn’t change the way we felt about the food, service or staff . However , the manager came over not long afterwards to apologise and again was very friendly . Like I stated before we was still extremely happy before this despite the tiny little issue but the manager was unsatisfied and went above and beyond for us which made our experience even better . I don’t write reviews very often but this place definitely deserves positive recognition and so do the waiters/bar staff. Our visit was 100% from start to finish. Thank you guys.

Waited forever for the food and when it arrived it was wrong and missing several ingredients stated on the menu. Although they refunded the price of a meal it takes the shine off your experience. A guy, possibly a manager came to apologise and said he’d email us and invite us back to experience how it should. We’ve heard nothing from them. Personally I wouldn’t return, a shame.

Made a booking Turned up Kitchen was closed for the weekend, no phone call to advise and a washy apology.

I booked this restaurant to try the steak & ordered just that to be told 10-15 minutes after ordering there is no steak at All I order the fish and chips to come out very un cooked and the chips the same, the wife ordered a steak then had to change to Cesar salad that came out as grilled chicken with balsamic dressing not as described on the menu no Caesar dressing no croutons no cheese would not recommend for food at all but the cocktails were lovely

Always a great place to go in derby

Lovely atmosphere, you can have a nice chat and a little dance to the music with a bunch of your friend, family or colleagues - it's great. Suitable for all occasions. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.

A group of us came here for a post-meal drink after a meal on a Saturday evening. Attracted by the quieter ambiance and perceived space to sit, we're a group in our 40s and well behaved. However, I've never felt less welcome! On finding a table upstairs we were then told it was reserved. When a nearby couple vacated their table (they were going anyway, not surprisingly) we were told their space wasn't free either. Then we found a table downstairs and ordered drinks. However, soon afterwards we were asked how long we were stopping as they wanted that table too! Bear in mind there were no signs on tables to say they were reserved and it wasn't particularly busy anyway. There was even a group of unkind women there who went out of their way to come over and make nasty comments. If that's the crowd they want then they're welcome to them. We'd just gone in, soberly and respectfully, for a quiet drink yet were made to feel extremely unwelcome by staff & customers alike. There are plenty of other places nearby, give this a swerve.

Booked a big table for 20 friends for drinks to celebrate my bday, communication right up until and including the night from manager was great, and we were made to feel welcome from staff and had so much fun! Will be back, thank you!

Great place for drinks plenty of choice

A group of my friends and I visited last night just for a few drinks. Half of the group were allowed in with no issue but the bouncer (Luca) did not let in our friend who is of colour in because of a jumper. He did not let him in even with it in his hand. Whilst this was happening another group of boys of colour were not allowed in either, whilst the rest of the line were. We then asked to supervisor if we could put the jumper behind the bar and she agreed. She then spoke to the bouncer but he still refused entry. Will not be going again. Really terrible experience, I do not think this is acceptable to treat paying customers.

Lovely outside seating area, popped in on Friday night, very busy. Very expensive drinks but that's to be expected in a town pub, DJ played very good tunes.

On a Saturday afternoon sat outside the Distillery was perfect in the sun with drinks and several tables full of drinking buddies. Quick service at the bar (wish it was still table service), well worth a visit for a couple of beers.

Had a absolutely class night thanks too Hamid Gul who made sure all our needs where met and made the best cocktails. Would 100% recommend.
