It's well hidden in Hackins Hey just off Dale street. I've not been here for many years. I'd heard that it's been refurbished recently. The interior now looks completely different. The bar has a good range of beers and ales and a good selection of European beers. Vast improvement on the old pub.

This place is situated centrally in Liverpool, however it is up a back alley which I wouldn't recommend on principle, especially at night. The inside of the pub is clean, and roomy, however there did not seem to be many dtaff behind the bar, and despite the emptiness of the place, it took a significant amount of time for me to be served. I went for a quiz, and the quizmaster the pub hires is full of blokey humour and does not typically uphold the highest ethical standards of the city, so tread with caution. For a city pub, it's cheap enough, but parking isn't especially cheap or available either, you'll be walking a long way if you drive here.

Up,out and about on a beautiful January morning, my twin brother and I jumped the train down from Kirkby to Liverpool City Centre, one of the first pubs we visited was The Denbigh Castle Pub. A great looking pub,set over two floors, great looking serving bar, wonderful furnishings and decorated tastefully throughout, big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a really good pub to unwind in. We ordered a pale ale from Kirkstall Brewery, these were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My pale ale was really good, well balanced, hoppy but not overhopped, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish to it we both enjoy, the classic British pale ale served in a classic British back street boozer, hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with real ales served in this good a condition. We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Denbigh Castle Pub we had a great time. The Denbigh Castle Pub is easy to locate along Hackins Hey. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from midday. A wonderful pub,one I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area.

On a cold and rainy November afternoon my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into The Denbigh Castle Pub and what a great time we had. I love the look of this pub, set over two floors, interior is light and airy, cool decor and furnishings, serving bars on both floors ,big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a classic back street boozer. We were greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff, we opted to have a pale ale for my twin and a strawberry cider for me ,these drinks were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling, we chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our beers and ciders. My cider was exceptionally good ,a flavoured cider ,well balanced, consistent till the last sup,a proper good cider,my twin also enjoyed his pale ale. We both really enjoyed our beers and ciders in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Denbigh Castle Pub we had a great time. Heard good reviews on this place and just had to try booked an early doors. Food is just amazing as are the staff such a lovely bunch of people who make you feel welcome and comfortable in the bistro style surroundings with the open kitchen at the back. The restaurant was full by 6pm food was cooked and served quickly so no long wait in between each course (we went for the 3 course and glass of wine for £32pp) The venue is not pretentious after all Smithdown Road does not do pretentious so no need to dress up come as you are as the food is the star. Tried the ox cheek which was flavoursome and just melt in the mouth The OH tried the hake which was equally tasty Deserts were simple chocolate mousse and malted milk ice cream was delish We look forward to returning again on our next visit to the "Pool" parking can be an issue around Smithdown but we parked in the Aldi car park 5 minute walk away
