Easy to walk past. Come off the Main Street then turn left at the closed supermarket. We arrived when full but were invited to wait at table outside and then seated mins later. Small and traditional menus. Tuna mayonnaise on white was served in thick fluffy sandwich with nice little salad and crisps. Toasties were very filling and there is a lot of choice. Excellent staff and so pleasant to speak with. Lovely home baking and very indulgent hot chocolates with cream, marshmallow and maltesers !

As a local I'd only ever been in here before once, many years ago. Back this time, after walking with a local walking group, was pleased to seethe place has been decluttered and modernised. It certainly seemed to be popular as there was steady stream of comings and goings. We received a warm welcome from staff and were initially seated outside at our request but as it looked as if it would rain, the waitress invited us in when a table became available. There's a good choice of light meals, toasties, sandwiches and cakes. We all had the soup, which was lovely home made leek and potato with generous slabs of lovely brown bread .I also felt a duty to sample some of the home baking, also very good. Plenty of Covid measures in place. Special mention to all the staff who were excellent and provided friendly, polite and enthusiastic service. Perhaps they should have a tips jar beside the till as I'm sure most people would reward them and especially as the prices of the food are so reasonable. Overall, excellent experience and I'd hope it won't be so long before I'm back this time!

Visited here for lunch whilst waiting for an MOT at a local garage. Seated outside as the weather was mild and inside was understandably full. Had the soup and sandwich deal which consisted of the soup of the day, lentil, and a choice of sandwich. I chose the club sandwich. Both the large bowl of soup and the thick freshly made sandwich were superb and just perfect on a mild winters day. With this I had a flat white which was grand. The prices here do not do the food justice. The value is exceptional. The staff are also very welcoming and accommodating. They rightfully take COVID measures seriously with readily available hand sanitiser at every table and on entry, track and trave details are compulsory and staff are vigilant in enforcing the require 2 household restrictions. All tables are thoroughly wiped down between patrons. All in all a fabulous tearoom and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

If you find yourself in Cupar this slightly hidden tearoom is a perfect wee place to eat . All Covid precautions in place . You can sit inside or out . The friendly staff and fresh homemade food are a delight. A lovely menu with a great choice including gluten free sandwiches. Home made coleslaw that was gorgeous. My only disappointment was I couldn’t manage a scone or a tray bake , maybe next time. Thanks to Carol a regular visitor who recommended this place .

We love The Cupar Tearoom, it's one of our favourite places to go on the weekend. During lockdown we had the picnic and lunch boxes to take away which were every time, delicious. We visited today and everything was set up to adhere to social distancing with hand sanitizer on the tables. The food and service is always lovely. I usually have a sandwich and scone or tray bake which is always tasty and served on beautiful crockery. It's just a great place with lovely people serving. Well done cupar tea room. :-)

Arrived here for an early lunch after a quick scour of the options on TA and we were so glad we did. Felt very reassured by the safety employed by staff and plenty of space between the tables. We opted for the afternoon tea as we were eating for half price today! Wow, there was no way we were going to manage all of this. We chose our sandwich fillings and bread choice and then our choice of scone from, i think four options. The sausage roll was delicious as were the sandwiches (we only managed half of them) before tackling the huge scone which was superb and very fresh with clotted cream and jam. Coffee was good and we had to admit defeat and box up the others sandwiches and cakes. It was superb value at £16 and even better for the half price eat out for less deal. Service was great too. We will definitely be back.

This cafe is very popular with the locals; there are quite a few tables inside as well as some outside, and at a lunchtime they are likely to all be full. But there are enough tables such that you shouldn’t have to wait too long before one becomes available. The cafe itself is located at the rear of some buildings rather than on the square itself - this confused google maps a little, but in the end we found it. This does mean that the outdoor tables don’t open onto a busy street, and would be a pleasant place to eat on a nice day. Standard fare with something of a Scottish twist - my cream tea, for example, came with not only the scone, but also a pancake and a piece of malteaser slice. Despite being busy, our orders came out in good time and the food was tasty and fresh. The cafe could probably do with an additional toilet as the one toilet (which opens directly on to the cafe area) often had a line-up waiting to use it. Parking close to this cafe is very limited and you are likely to need to park in the carpark behind the shops on the other side of the square.

It surprises me that I had never written a review of this superb cafe despite having frequented / haunted it since it first opened years ago! I was spurred into action today by a friend who treated herself to the delicious gluten-free pancakes and was raving about them. This is really an amazing, welcoming place and the staff are always so friendly even if they are having a ' bad day'. What an asset to our community of Cupar! Long may it last.

This is such a great meeting place in Cupar. So many of us go here regularly and always enjoy a warm, friendly welcome from a family run business. It is good to have tables outside in the sun or inside out of the rain! But why is it 5*? Because all the food and baking is home made. It is fresh and excellent quality. Scones are generous in size and taste so good. Best of all are the made to order pancakes. My husband loves the treat of bacon, maple syrup and pancakes. As for our daughter. She is coeliac and this is the very best place in the world (!) to go for pancakes that taste as good as proper ones (unlike my efforts at home!). If you haven't tried it yet it's time you did

A very busy little cafe but for good reason- it's lovely. We (my Mum, 2yo and a hungry 5 month old baby and I)dropped by after visiting the Deer Centre. When we first walked in all the tables were taken so we started to leave, but a member of staff ran out to mention that someone had just paid up and was leaving. We took their seat and were served promptly, despite how busy they were. My mum had the bacon and chicken salad, which looked amazing and tasted just as good. I had the lentil soup which was delicious. My little girl's meal was served beautifully, pride taken even in the childrens meals. The staff were all very, very friendly. They engaged with my kids as well as us, and nothing seemed too much trouble. My one and only slight grumble is there is no baby changing facility, I had to change my boy on top of the toilet counter area. That won't stop me returning again should we be in the area!

I popped in here late morning with the intention of having a bacon sandwich or something similar but after discovering that their soups were ready, decided to try one of these instead. Today's offerings were lentil or pea with a hint of mint. I opted for the pea with a hint of mint. It was served with hot fresh bread and portions of butter.Very tasty indeed. The café itself is not very large, it has around nine tables with chairs inside. There are however outdoor tables and chairs too.It doesn't seem to matter what time of day you pass this place, it is always busy, so this in itself surely is a good sign.Very much a 'locals' café I would say, as it appeared that nearly everyone knew nearly everyone! Waitress service was swift, polite and friendly.I noticed that they had a selection of 'teas' for sale too.In my opinion, because the café is small and busy, this contributes to it being a bit noisy, therefore not really a relaxed atmosphere.Would still rate it overall though as very good.

On a Monday afternoon-out in Cupar, we decided to try this well-reviewed cafe, after a mooch around the many charity shops. It was nearly 4pm, and there were only 3 bar-cookies left on the counter: one cherry coconut ( a corner piece), one shortbread, and what looked like a rocky road. The lady was apologetic and drew our attention to a cakebox of Malteser slices on the side, and said they do toasted teacakes, or pancakes to order. We ordered 2 double espresso, a Malteser slice, and the cherry bar, which she recommended. The coffee was quite good, and so was the Malteser bar (a generous size). The cherry coconut was a nice texture, but had far too much almond essence in it.There was a nice neighbourhood feel to the cafe, and we will try it again, if they have more selection.(As we left, we were surprised to notice that there were now THREE cakeboxes on the side - so what we had was evidently not the last pieces.)

We regularly have coffee and sandwich here when shopping or doing errands in Cupar. The tea room is very close to the shops, located in a pedestrianised square. We like to sit at the outside tables whenever the weather permits, as they get the afternoon sun.The food is very fresh and tasty, and service is friendly and efficient. As well as soup, sandwiches, paninis, etc there is a good selection of delicious cakes. The tearoom also provides gluten free options for sandwiches and cakes.Inside the tearoom has a vintage feel with pretty china tea pots, and tea cups and saucers. On a cold rainy day it is a cosy place to sit with a coffee and read the papers. The only problem is that the tea room is very popular, particularly at lunch times, so sometimes have to wait 5 minutes or so for a table to become available - but always worth the wait.

Absolutely my favourite tearoom to visit locally. Go very often, would advise to get there early for lunch though as they tend to run out of their fresher foods (scones/soup/etc) quite soon into lunch time. After reading the great reviews i thought i would give it a try the next time i was in cupar hmm a bit over priced for what it is really a back street tea room with a few seats outside which on the day i visited people were sitting outside smoking and i had to pass through a cloud of smoke to get in the door not very good if like me you do not like smoking however decided to have a coffee and a scone alright i suppose nothing to write home about though so a bit of a let down will i be back probably not

My Mum and I thought this place was just brilliant. We had a panini. It was delicious. We were too full for cakes and scones but they looked lovely. It is quite compact and has limited space but don' t let that put you off. We'll be back!

Tucked out of the way in Ferguson Square, the cafe was completely full yesterday, but a friend squeezed up and we got a seat. Coffee and cake (empire biscuit have had better) in the sunshine. Friendly, efficient service, they do great soup, sandwiches, scones and cakes. We have used them for catering a family birthday - great selection and value for money :-)

Charming little tea-room in a square behind Cupar's main shopping street. A range of home-made scones, cakes and soups. Sandwiches tend to be on the expensive side, but good. Hot chocolate delicious. Tables outside tend to be used by smokers, as is usual now, so not particularly pleasant outdoors for non- smokers.

Visited this tearoom on 20th August, service was immediate and the lady serving was polite and made friendly chat. Toilets were very clean. Light lunch and coffees ordered and it was beautiful, without doubt there slogan is correct "probably IS the best Tearoom!" Would highly recommend to locals and visitors.

Friendly staff, excellent coffee to your exact specifications and really, really good scones which are very important to the Scots. We went twice, where we had a choice of freshly-made wholemeal, plain, fruit, apricot, and cheese scones. The choice was different across the days, which made the experience all the more interesting. Strongly recommend.

Stopped for a quick coffee/snack at this lovely little tearoom in the centre of Cupar. Have often walked by when popping into Argos, but had never taken the time to stop before. I love the fact that this tearoom has lovely big tables, and traditional decor. A lovely homely experience. Service was good and what we ordered was really great. I was extremely pleased to see lots of gluten free options on the menu. Initially I had just thought to have a coffee, as I didn't think there would be anything I could have, but I was wrong! I had a delicious gluten free BLT sandwich. All in all, good homemade eats and drinks in a lovely traditional setting. Will definitely return and also recommend this tearoom to anyone.

Saw a review that this was best in Cupar and I know that I haven't visited any of the others but they will have to go some to beat this. Food superb, service and staff excellent and very reasonable. Queue out of door of locals for take-away speaks volumes.

Very relaxed and old world feel about the place with wonderful home baking and various herbal and speciality teas. Wonderful and attentive staff. Food is so tasteful and I feel just the right quantity at very affordable prices. It is always the first choice in Cupar if we are looking for a little snack or lunch.

Have visited this café on numerous occasions and have never been let down. The staff are all friendly and the home cooking is delicious something you very rarely find these days.Very difficult to get a seat at peak times but worth waiting for.

This was the first time I have been to this restaurant. I have heard good things about it. I enjoyed a light lunch with my fiancé. It was delicious. The staff was very nice and welcoming and the atmosphere family friendly and relaxed. I would feel comfortable eating here again inside the nicely decorated tearoom or at one of the outside tables. Very hard to choose what to eat as when you walk in you are face to face with delicious looking food. Definitely going back again.

Excellent little tea shop tucked round the back of the high street in a quiet location. Your tea is served in real china cups and teapots and small tea knives given an old fashioned style, excellent home baking and would recommend the pancakes which are made fresh when you order them, very friendly staff.

We visit here quite a lot with family. There is plenty of space, staff is friendly and welcoming and the food is lovely. It doesn't look much from the outside, especially on a cold day in winter when the windows are steamed up, but once inside its cosy and inviting. Definitely worth a visit and happy to recommend. Well done ladies!

Popped in early afternoon for a cup of tea/coffee and decided on one cream tea (coffee, pancake, scone, chocolate treat). Lots of butter, jams and cream and one afternoon tea (pot of tea, freshly made chicken mayo sandwich on lovely bread, scone and chocolate treat). Lots of butter and jams. All of this for less than a tenner!!The fruit scones were huge and especially delicious.Furniture and décor is mismatched giving it character. There's no intrusive music. Staff are friendly and very pleasant. The A Board on the main street says it is "Probably The Best Tearoom In The World" - my guess is that this could probably be true!

A bit of the beaten track but worth it. If this café was in the city centre, it would be packed out every day! We enjoyed lovely, freshly made sandwiches in a cosy atmosphere and took some delicious cakes home. I hadn’t been for a while but it’s every bit as nice as I remember, we’ll definitely be back.

We didn't stay but went for lunch one Sunday. We booked but several groups turned up without booking and were able to get a table. The menu is the usual pub grub but nicely presented and service was quick. Ae chose the roast beef, meatball and curry with icecream and coffee to follow. All very tasty The welcome and service were frienly and efficient and the dining room light airy and spacious.

What a disappointment. I found the Bothy at Boglily on TA, loved the look of the place, the gorgeous photos of cooked food on their site and the good reviews. We are doing a road trip and this was going to be our Sunday morning treat. The car park was jammed with cars and we saw people standing in a queue to pet baby goats. Upon entering the inviting Bothy and asking a young man for a table, we were told that we couldn’t bring our dog in. Fair enough. Not every dining establishment is dog-friendly. Though I was a bit surprised as the restaurant is in a buffalo farm, there’s a petting zoo and it’s in the countryside. The sun was shining so I asked if we could order our meal and sit at the table on the deck, directly next to the door of The Bothy (see photo for proximity). The young man’s response was that they don’t offer takeaway. I queried whether a table one step from the door qualified as takeaway. It reminded me of the TV ad with the man trying to buy potatoes at a farm shop and being told that he can only pay with digital currency. People taking themselves so seriously that they don’t think of the customer experience. We had driven up from our holiday cottage at Kinghorn especially to get a nice cooked breakfast from their lovely menu, so my surprise and disappointment were apparent. I was directed to the outdoor kiosk they call the Milk Bar to order something from their limited selection. We ordered one Double Cheese Toastie with fries, a latte, an affogato milkshake ( made with buffalo milk ice cream) and a scone, which was on their menu. The two lovely servers told me that they don’t sell scones outside and I would have to go to the Bothy Café to get one. When I explained that I had been told up there that I couldn’t get anything from them takeaway, the young woman offered to go get one for me. They were both very sweet and I apologised for my previous grumpiness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the trouble. The cheese toastie and fries were served in a cardboard tray. The toastie was on “cheap white bread” according to my partner. I didn’t taste it. The fries and the milkshake however, were excellent. My scone was dry, cold and crumbled into breadcrumb texture when I tried to spread some butter on it. The crumb was impossible to pick up and eat but my dog liked it. It wasn’t worth eating for me as it then began to rain and we had to head for the car. I can’t help but think that the very cheerful, welcoming and upmarket website promises more than it delivers.
