The Crown Lodge Hotel Restaurant in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Ordered scotch egg starter @ £7 and what we got was HALF an egg and as much rocket as you could eat but half an egg!!! Asked staff if this was a mistake as menu does not state HALF a scotch egg and they said no that’s how it comes… when you boil an egg it’s a whole egg so where did the other HALF go!!! My wife ordered the pâté and it was like a moose and very distasteful and disappointing. Would not recommend and would certainly not be returning.

This is a great hotel, and reasonably priced. The staff are a credit to it, and were very helpful and friendly. The food was exceptional, if not a little pricey , but it is worth it, and the afternoon tea is just incredible, on par with the Ritz. I believe they have a dedicated pastry chef, and it shows. Very nice indeed. They are also dog friendly, very useful if your fury friends are in tow. My only grip was the room was too hot, their were digital thermostats set to 18c, but they did not work, the room was 27c when we went to bed, and 25c when we woke up. They had a fan, but that just circulated the warm air. If it wasn't for the aircon not working, They would have 5 stars.

The Crown Lodge is definitely a hidden gem in the area. We have been visiting for lunch and dinners in the last year or so. The food and the service is 10/10 ( this comes from some one that is a foodie, eats out a lot and has masters degree in Hotel and Restaurant industry). There are slight little changes to the menu frequently, which is really much appreciated. The core menu is solid. The team and the Crown Lodge is second to none. We have been lucky enough to try some bucket list places and I can very honestly say that the Crown Lodge team goes an extra mile every time we dine there. The attention to detail is second to none. The team is very polite and make you feel that they somehow have a diary of what you like to eat and drink and in what order - I honestly don’t know how you guys do it. 😯 Passion is everything! The waiting time for the food is, I feel, very well planned - not too short and too long. You get enough time to “catch your breath” before the next dish comes out. They don’t turn tables around quickly and you don’t feel pressured to eat your food quickly. Timing is 10/10. The menu is well thought through and each starter compliments the main and so on. The value for money is incredible. For the service we get there we very rarely now dine anywhere else ( unless is M. House in Cambridge ) Amazing selection of drinks. Been to the crown today for Sunday lunch & it was absolutely brilliant . Food & service was top notch . Was so refreshing to get lots of fresh vegetables with our lunch . We were a large group & nothing was too much trouble.

Absolutely beautiful food for Sunday lunch to celebrate my sisters birthday. Party of 7 of us, well looked after, clean and tidy restaurant which was well run. Would recommend to anyone, and we will certainly be back!

Visited last week for a family meal, food was lovely there was 6 of us in total and no complaints made anywhere. Staff very friendly, nothing was too much of an ask. Will be back again☺️

No negatives. This hotel is one of the best we have ever stayed in. Wonderful friendly welcome. Fab host and staff. Hotel beautifully decorated clean and fresh. Lovley fire place in the centre. Rooms, one of the best rooms we have ever been in. Quiet surroundings, spotless comfy bed. Yea and coffee as well as mineral water. Lovey big bathroom. Good wonderful values for money. In a nutshell I highly recommend the best place we have ever stayed in the area. Thank you.

We looked forward to the so called small plate Indian food night. It should have been called miniature plate. The tandoori chicken starter consisted of 3 pieces of chicken for £5. The main course was 4 pieces of chicken for £5. The onion bhajis and naan bread tasted like shop bought ones. There were 6 starters, 8 mains and 8 sides on the menu, all small portions so the food should have come out much faster than it did. The only blessing was that the potions were so small they were eaten before they got cold as the plates were not warmed. For the same price as an Indian restaurant it was disappointing.

Fantastic family AA 4 star hotel. Tim and the family run a lovely modern hotel and restaurant. Jake in the breakfast room was also great. The rooms are modern and very comfortable. Park your car outside your room! Food is very good. Great value and location. Will be back. TIM gave us superb directions to avoid local traffic to get to Sandringham.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, the room was excellent. But the restaurant did not, for us, live up to reviews elsewhere. For example I had pork ribs. They had been ruined by being overcooked. And in the morning the english breakfast was disappointing, the bacon being thin and once again overcooked. Over priced for what we had. One plus, the service was good.

Lovely, clean rooms well suited for a base to explore the area around. Excellent staff and amazing food! We will definitely return!

We ate dinner and breakfast here as staying at the hotel. Food was all good but very pricey. Staff helpful and smart and the restaurant is very nice inside.

We stayed in the flat at the crown lodge ( which I’ll review separately) and decided to eat (on recommendation) at the crown lodge restaurant…… so glad we did. The food was so beautiful, presentation was perfect. The bowls the food came in where stunning. The food it’s self was perfect cooked and so full of flavour, so much so we had dessert (which we rarely do) and where blown away. Home made crispy shortbread and mouthwatering lemons posset and a strawberry pavlova. Service was so friendly and efficient. We would definitely recommend and go again on any future trips that way.

Really let down, normally a good meal here but today's was below average. Rib's in ketchup. Staff were pleasant yet forgetful.

From start to finish our 1 night stay was excellent. Every staff member had a smile and were always ready to help , answer queries etc. The food was amazing,, all freshly cooked, our party had 4 different mains and desserts all excellent. The rooms e stayed in your immaculate, roomy, and so comfortable. From hairdryer to fan to iron and ironing board, nothing was forgotten even a shower mat, perfect for those of us unsteady on our feet.would like to mention Emily who looked after us from check in, to breakfast making a tray up fir my husband who was not feeling well. A good hotel with clean rooms suitable for dogs with an area at the rear of the hotel to take dogs for "exercise" (pooh bags available) Good food and excellent friendly staff. They were short staffed at the time that we visited but worked really hard to make up for any delay in providing evening meal. Superb function room which was used for a 90th birthday party.

First visit in two years. We attended with 26 other friends for a “ wake” for my father in law. We choose the hot buffet which was great. Desserts followed. Extremely well looked after although they were busy with other smaller groups and Sunday lunch. Nothing to much trouble. Up to their usual high standards. Thank you

We’ve been using the crown lodge for some years now, but today I had some business emails & telephone calls to make so I had my lunch at the crown.Upon initially ordering my egg Mayo sandwich I also ordered a pot of there delicious English breakfast tea as well.After 45 minutes & the sandwich still hadn’t arrived I was understandably getting disappointed by the lengthy time frame & certainly was ready to eat.After asking the waitress a very charmingly beautiful woman where is my sandwich, I was informed that that they run out of the filling so where preparing a fresh batch impressive.Upon arrival the eggs were still a little warm & one has to say that it was probably NO I would say it was the best egg mayonnaise sandwich that one has ever had.Well done the crown for not just saying “we’ve” run out what of that what easel can we get you, I personally can’t think of another establishment that would go as far to prepare a fresh filling to make the customer happy.Once again VERY VERY WELL DONE THE CROWN

Although my son's wedding wasn't as we all first expected, the staff at the Crown Lodge Hotel Restaurant made it as special as they could, whilst still abiding by the Covid restrictions. We hired the private room and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The tables looked great with lighted candles were a nice touch. The bride and groom were given complimentary sparkly when they arrived. The waiting staff were brilliant giving us just the right amount of attention and space as we required it. The food, as always was superb. Thanks to all. Would highly recommend.

What an amazing experience following a recommendation from our new next door neighbour. The social distancing, ambience, food and service were all superb and this is definitely my new favourite restaurant!

Six of us had an evening meal at Crown Lodge on Saturday. We were all in agreement that it was the best meal we had ever eaten there . I had the hake supreme and it was one of the best main courses I have eaten in any restaurant for a very long time. The social distancing was managed very professionally and the staff were very attentive. Debbie was as always an excellent host. We will be back and soon

arrived with family for a birthday meal. hand sanitiser on entry. our waitress emily was very attentive and catered for all our needs, there was eight of us in party. we had a very spacious table and felt very safe. well now on to the food none of us had a starter but we all had the roast pork and beef it was excellent and the veg was yummie and lots of it, the califlower cheese was to die for and the yorkshire was also good. puddings was sticky toffee and brownie which i myself could not manage but the plates was cleared so that just says it all the proof in the pudding! cant wait to return excellent value one of the best roast dinners eaten out if not the best thank you for making my birthday special.

Sadly very quiet. But our lunch was very tasty, deciding only to have starters, as not really wanting a big meal. We shared a seafood sharing starter, which was excellent. Our other starters were very good too, the staff were friendly and the service very good. I would recommend it to friends, and hope to return soon,

Have eaten in this restaurant a few times before but not for nine months . We both had scampi, very good , came out quickly and wel presented. Scampi in a small basket with chips the same. We opted for peas rather than salad. All goof. Attentive staff . Pleased to have gone back.

We booked last minute on Sunday and although they were booked up for the dining room we were able to eat in the bar area. They were very busy with several functions on but this did not stop them from making sure we were properly looked after. The service was excellent and food amazing. We will be returning. Thank you.

I absolutely love this place! It has a friendly, calm atmosphere - just what you want after a busy week at work! The staff are all lovely and really helpful, making recommendations and suggestions! Nothing is a problem here - the staff go above and beyond to ensure an amazing experience. The food is amazing, you will not be disappointed! Excellent quality, reasonable prices and service with a smile, what more could you ask for.

The Crown without doubt has been my favourite restaurant for many years but for the first time ever today I was disappointed. The menu was very ordinary all the way through, usual Crown burger, ribs, steak but the more unusual items like my favourite Leek & Mango tart and more specialty meat/ fish dishes replaced with Chicken strips and butternut squash risotto. The lovely hand cut chips replaced with what appeared to be frozen chips with an unusual taste of the oil they were cooked in- not the usual standard not sure what has happened.Although I do have to say the garlic bread was lovely and the desserts up to the usual excellent standard. Here’s hoping this is just an post Christmas blip so will have to go back to check!

This area is particularly short of good restaurants so The Crown is probably the best in the region. We went with friends visiting from Doncaster on a Saturday night and were disappointed with the meal. The two ladies had their beef suet which was very dry and we weren't eating late evening, it was only 7.30 pm so it hadn't had time to dry out if it had been stood around. More gravy should have been offered. The men had gammon which they said was OK. We'd go again just to give it another chance as it's a nice ambiance, plenty of parking etc.

Good bet for a nice meal, especially the steak! Desserts are disappointing but mains excellent. Be prepared to wait a bit as it’s a popular place!

Excellent hotel room. Clean and well decorated. Good facilities esp. toilet and shower. Everything necessary was provided.

We only found this place last year after living about 20 minutes away for 12 years! Since then we have been back a good few times and always bring people when they come to visit us.

Visited with family to celebrate a birthday. Pre-booking is essential for afternoon teas and I believe most dietary requirements can be catered for.

A 100th birthday lunch for 30 people in a private room. This hotel excells in looking after you and ensuring that all guests are catered for. A hot buffet - scampi, sausages, prawn dips, full range of mixed sandwiches etc. Mini desserts to die for. Well done and especially Debbie. She really does work hard and is a huge asset to the hotel. My wife and I have just returned home after having an amazing evening at a very clean - Crown Lodge Hotel and Restaurant. I cannot speak highly enough for the Chef, Paul the FnB manager. the owner and all of his staff. We felt at home throughout our stay. Gin selection amazing, beer and wine list brilliant, food choices simple but expertly done, hot fresh and very tasty,we shared a large portion of chicken wings to start, these were expertly seasoned, must have been organic because they were all huge...then followed up with a 10oz sirloin steak each accompanied with a Stilton sauce, chunky chips & home made onion rings for mains, creme brulee for desert.

We visit the restaurant often. My mother is 101 years old and loves eating here. They are helpful and thoughtful with her and the food is consistently good. The staff are always welcoming and accommodating as we frequently ask for slight variations on our meal. Cannot fault the quality of the food or the staff.

We first visited on a Saturday afternoon for drinks. We sat in the beer garden all afternoon and had a great time. We decided to book for lunch the next day, a Sunday.

Great food staff were friendly and helpful went for afternoon tea best I ever had loads to choose from sandwichs were very fresh and and tasty cakes were very nice and scones were large and fresh with jam and cream was nice many teas to choose from

After showing the online menu to my partner he stated nothing appealed to him, even though I’d offered to pay (very unusual) it took me some months to persuade him to eat at the Crown Lodge Outwell.

We visited on a Friday evening and it was quite busy with a good atmosphere. The food was very good and everyone enjoyed the evening. Service was a little slow but it did not really detract from the overall experience

Took a mate of mine and my wife for Saturday lunch and Iknow my reveiws allo seem to say how good Crown Lodge is but yesterday went up another level.The Seafood Mille-feuill at £8 was an expensive starter but worth every penny presentation,flavours were super so we are back today for lunch ,.Love the place smart ,well staffed with staff that care,attractive surroundings weare so lucky to have a restaurant like this within walking distance.See you later guys!!

I had never been here before but went as part of a party of six. The service was good and prompt. The food was ok, I had a venison burger which was not as good as I was expecting and really quite salty. Others on my table had fish and chips - that looked great, scampi - served with an interesting looking salad, and chicken caesar salad. I was too full for a dessert but others had the Turkish delight ice cream - just a few chunks of Turkish delight in some otherwise not Turkish delight flavoured ice cream and some kind of cheesecake. I wouldn't hurry back, but it was good for the area which has a limited choice of restaurants. The atmosphere was somewhat lacking in the restaurant which might have something to do with the fact that the space is quite large. I would try it again but would have something different. One person in my party had been a few times and really wanted a leek tart but this was no longer on the menu.

I really like it here. We’ve used this place several times for meetings and business lunches and it’s always been good. The service is great. It’s relaxed a friendly and the food is always good. I’ve even visited it with friends to meet for lunch I like it that much. There’s not anywhere within 15 miles better.

I stayed at this hotel five years ago when my daughter got married and had her wedding reception there. Last month while visiting, I had the opportunity to go there again for dinner and it was just as wonderful as my first visit. The food and service are excellent and the surrounding comfortable and relaxed.

After some months with Christmas approaching decided to let someone else cook so renewed our aquaintence with the Crown Lodge ,a super lunch shared with friends the food was cooked to perfection , beef beautiful chicken great and the starters enjoyable seems someone has been watching Masterchef!!!Anyway lovely meal thanks to all who made it possible -- see you again soon.

Came here with my 87 year old Mother & my Wife. Was an impromptu Sunday lunch which they managed to fit us in.

We come here when we are in the area and always have lovely food. Two of us opted for lasagne which was really fresh and tasty with a really good mixed salad and chips as an extra. My other half had burger..which he has everywhere he goes and said it was really tasty and gave it a 10 on his burger scale! Not many places get that! Had onion rings on side which also very good and homemade. It's not the cheapest place but would rather pay for quality and the interior is spotless and contemporary. Can't wait to go back!

Took my husband back last night for his birthday as have been lots before - and taken lots of guests before, since this had been our go to place for special occasions. You know when you want something that little bit different and wow? We were given the menu and we were both struck by (a) how limited it has become (b) how the choices were what you can get anywhere and nothing exciting or different any more - kind of pub grub but sort of dressed up a bit in words? and (c) how expensive the items were. No matter we said, we will have a look at the specials board. We asked and were told there are no specials any more. Blank quizzical stares from me and husband met with an explanation that chefs are thin on the ground so to make it easier for the chefs they have done away with the specials. Okay so we were very very disappointed but no matter, we wanted to enjoy ourselves there as it’s so lovely and comfortable. I ordered lasagne, husband ordered fish and chips. Poor husband, his fish was about 4 inches thick and his eyes lit up at the thought of all that juicy fish although he did say the batter was very very fatty and - it looked it to me too - very dark brown, too hard and over cooked. So he said it’s ok I will cut the batter off. At which point it became clear that the batter took up about 3 and 1/2 inches, leaving about 1/2 inch thick piece of fish. He tried to pick it out bless him but ended up with loads welded to the batter and the rest broken up into little bitty pieces. The waitress came over to check and said ‘oh too much batter then’ my husband said ‘yes and not enough fish’ to which she replied ‘actually there’s 8oz of fish in there’ and left us! She didnt appreciate that the batter was inedible and that the extracted fish was all in little time bits. Gobsmacked. Turns out she was the manager too. We didn’t let it spoil our evening but in our view the changes have brought the restaurant menu in line with any other pub grub menu . They have taken away that which, for us, set the place apart from and high above other eateries. I am afraid we will not go back any more. Unless they bring back their specials and put themselves back up on the pedestal. Or reduce the price of their basic menu. Such a crying shame. However, it must be said that apart from the manageress being totally oblivious to my husband’s dissatisfaction and dealt with him rather rudely and ignorantly, the other two young ladies who served us were extremely pleasant, efficient, polite and customer-service aware. They deserve the highest praise.

Went as a group of 25 and it was brilliant!! Room looked lovely as did the rest of restaurant, staff friendly and helpful. Food was 1st class, fresh, hot and tasted amazing. We will be back, Thanks

A large family party (ten including a toddler) to celebrate a birthday, we were very well looked after immediately upon arrival. We grouped around the spacious bar until called into the equally spacious restaurant area to be seated. Our toddler was seated in a high-chair at the head of the table.

Had evening meal at The Crown few weeks ago and really enjoyed, so we decided to try a Sunday lunch there. To be repeated. Thoroughly enjoyed this excellent Sunday lunch. For starters we had a prawn and crayfish cocktail and a gammon and mushroom. For mains we both had beef. My wife prefers her beef slightly pink and I prefer it rare. This was explained to the lady waiting on. Not many places would get this correct BUT it was absolutely spot on in both cases. Absolutely superb beef, as was the rest of the main course. Very good selection of fresh vegetables. All this was washed down with a bottle of Zinfandel. To finish we shared a creamy rice pudding with rum and raisin. Superb combination.

We were members of a party booked for a birthday lunch for a member of the family and was really looking forward to our meal as it was recommended to us.But I have to say the whole experience was really very average, service was slow food was poor the roasties were so hard you couldn’t cut them and the yorkies were very dry and like eating cardboard we eat out regularly and and a particular carvery we use beats this place hands down And at half the price so the question is would we go again and the answer to that is NO.

I took my sister for a nice meal out this evening full of high expectations.We had a well cooked sea bass with a caponata (ratatouille), garlic foccacia the latter being tasteless and soggy. The garlic foccacia should have been served separately. I had the crown burger lovely, with a brioche roll, what is this fashion of serving a savoury food with a sweet roll, but why o why do they serve it on a piece of paper on a tray, what is wrong with a plate. To cap my evening I had to request they put some lights to be able to read the bill it is not romantic it is just plain daft. As I said both disappointed.

Another excellent Sunday lunch. Not expensive but quality food and excellent service. Busy but clean and well organised.

Stayed 2 nights while attending a friends wedding. We stayed in a standard double room and found it to be comfortable and clean. The large bathroom was well maintained and the bedroom was well kept and cosy. We ate in the busy on site restaurant and while the food was good, it took a long time to come once ordered. Breakfast was also tasty but again vey slow to come out. The bar has a good selection of gins if that's your thing. The tarif for rooms, I feel, is a bit steep (2 nights stay in a standard room was £220) but If I were to return to this part of the country then I would gladly stay here again.

Our party of five were accommodated very quickly in the bar area and we all ate a wonderful Sunday roast. The puddings were amazing too. A very pleasant experience with professional staff. Highly recommended if you are that way!

The menu is comprised of overly complicated dishes with juxtaposition of flavours, that to me, do not work and are not needed for a local, rural restaurant. Stick to roasts and simple ‘home cooked style’ food surely?

Visited with a large party for Sunday lunch. Had to pre order which helped with the service. All food came out quickly and as ordered. Plenty of vegetables in separate dishes. Desserts - good choice with hot and cold available. Drinks kept topped up. Staff helpfull and in abundance. One small point- High Chairs need up dating. No safety straps - suggest you buy a couple from IKEA, it won't break the bank.

I visited with 2 friends on Saturday evening and found this place to be welcoming with friendly staff and the food was lovely. We had prawns to start and I couldn't fault them, to follow I have crispy beef which was also locely, unfortunately I couldn't finish it because it was very sweet. I didn't fancy anything on the desert menu so requested a scone in the hope there would be some left over from afternoon tea, they didn't have any left and said that they make them fresh daily so once there gone, there gone which was fair enough. The only reason I haven't rated this place 5 star is because the menu I looked at online was different to the menu when we got to the restaurant, I can only imagine they do seasonal menus, however I think they should keep the website up to date. Overall a very lovely meal with reasonable prices, friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere! Would absolutely recommend this place!

An evening meal with family and friends. Location ok, outside it looks nothing special but inside it is well furnished and decorated. The bar and restaurant area is spacious and well laid out with a large tabled area and a large comfortable seating area. The bar is well stocked and the staff polite and helpful. Drinks are a bit expensive but that us to be expected because this is a hotel as well as a restaurant. Our group sat down for our evening meal and the service was reasonable taking into account the amount of people in our group. The food, well I found it a bit disappointing, I found the chips to be rather fatty and the batter on the fish was loaded in fat and very dark and heavy. The childs pizza was full of onion, children generally don't eat or like onion, just tomato and cheese will do, digging the onion out doesn't achieve much the taste stays. The pickle in the burgers would be better on the side as not everyone likes them and the taste was off putting for some. The shortage of sauce and vinegar on the table was apparent and was not supplied even though we asked.

Took my friends for birthday meal as usual it was a very pleasant experience we had a super fillet steak as there was no rump as apparently no demand,luckily we know the butcher so can buy direct.Lovelly meal super surroundings but prices creeping up .shame as it will restrict our visits.

Visited lunch time today. Very quite but we did sit down at 12.15pm ( a big private party arrived around 1.00pm ) . Served quickly with drinks, ordered food and meal arrived 15/20 minutes later. All hot meals and as requested. Staff attentive but not over the top. Highly recommended

Excellent choice for Sunday lunch. Large portions with lovely fresh vegetables. Excellent customer service and good atmosphere. Suitable for all ages. You get what you pay for!

We use this excellent restaurant fairly regularly and it never fails to deliver good food and service. Monday can sometimes be a hit and miss day to eat out but never here. The lunchtime menu has been streamlined as the previous one had possibly too many choices.

As always lovely, and if you are gluten free (celiac) this is the place the sandwiches, cakes and specially the scones are perfect.

I booked a date with my Wife at this Hotel for an afternoon tea as she has wanted to go here for ages. WE arrived early and was greeted by the staff, whom were excellent and friendly . We had a drink in the bar before going to our afternoon tea. The service was the best I have received for ages.

Used to be our favourite place to go plus its our local restaurant so how disappointed we were when we visited last Friday as our Valentine Meal as we couldn't get a seat on the Wednesday so this was a special night for us both.

My first Afternoon Tea. Nice place, friendly staff and fast service. Oiled have done with more savoury than sweet but the food was all lovely. Scones were delicious.

Visited for lunch on Saturday 19th January. Very good menu. Fish and chips were excellent along with the Pork Ribs. Good value . Friendly staff.

We went here a couple of weekends ago 4 of us to have a Sunday lunch me and my partner had the beef it was great as usual all I can say is Tim and Debbie are good at PR as they talked us into coming back in the evening as they had a comedy show on at night which was good too I must admit the wine is a bit expensive but then it is in most restaurants but in all it’s definitely worth going too as this knocks socks off of anywhere around Wisbech area by miles

Was put out because our tables were not dressed like the one in the first table. Were we an inconvenience? Just because we work at a supermarket?

Visited The Crown Lodge last Saturday with a family party of seven . Once again very good service and food. Menu is varied with a specials board as well. The restaurant is furnished very nicely with discreet seating areas as well as a main area . There is the facility for private parties as well with the use of sliding partitions. Easy chairs in the lounge also give a relaxed atmosphere . Food usually comes to the table with 10/15 minutes. We visit here about once a month and are always made to feel welcome. Unable to comment on the " hotel" side of the establishment as we have not stayed

As usual another super meal well cooked ,served in a pleasant atmosphere we love eating here but noticed prices going up .Thankyou Finlay and your staff.

We decided to visit The Moorings restaurant at this establishment for a Sunday Lunch. We found the Crown Lodge very relaxing indeed and very friendly. The whole place was smart and attractive. We arrived early and ordered drinks at the bar, then right on time we were shown to our table. We both had Roast Beef plus all the trimmings, absolutely delicious, tender melt in the mouth Beef and a gorgeous Yorkshire pud, plus on the side we had a good selection of vegetables to share. The staff were very pleasant and attentive, all in all it was a very pleasant visit and we will be returning soon. We definitely recommend this restaurant.

Second visit for afternoon tea and was just as equal to our first visit. Plentiful & tasty, worth every penny. Do not hesitate to book afternoon tea, you will not be disappointed, perfect

My family surprised me with an Afternoon Tea treat for my 70th birthday this year on August 8th 2017. They travelled from Wolverhampton and Melton Mowbray. I didn't know anything about it. Even the grandchildren kept the secret well.

Great steak meal, excellent service and brilliant new gin & tonic menu. Try the Hendricks and elderflower tonic....lush!

Just moved to a Outwell so excited about trying out what the village has to offer. Arrived after a 10min walk from house to hotel. Lovely open space with the bar, lounge area and restaurant seating. Pre-drinks served swiftly as were the menus. Standard menu really - would like to have seen a little more variety but the specials menu helped to fill in this gap.We were seated at our table by staff who were pleasant, cheery and made us feel welcome. The food was exceptional - we had the Beef Brisket for starter which was on the specials menu - please please please put this on your main menu - it was devine served in a lovely rich sauce. Steaks for the main were very good quality and cooked to our liking - couldn't manage a dessert this time.Drinks were great - The Prosecco is a nice fruity and refreshing brand and the Gin Cocktail menu went down a treat.Service was good apart from a few issues - we had to wait for our bread to arrive for quite some time - I was beginning to wonder if they were baking it fresh! Also when the steak arrived it came without our requested peppercorn sauce and again we had to wait some time for it to appear which sadly meant our steak was not as warm as it should have been by the time the sauce arrived.On the whole a very pleasant evening and we look forward to going again this Friday 9th June

We visited friends locally who took us to this restaurant. On arrival it felt fresh and modern but with a nice atmosphere. It's decorated beautifully. The service was extremely friendly and efficient. The menu had lots of lovely choices, even for people such as myself who doesn't eat red meat, and indeed vegetarians. The food we had was nicely presented and very tasty. The portions are very generous and the prices very reasonable. If we return to the area I would certainly re-visit.

Crap service not going back again. The staff were very unfriendly. The food was terrible. My wife ended up having garlic bread and nothing else. The bar staff ,made me feel bad because I was not quick enough on deciding my drink.

Having hired a Narrowboat for the day, the Crown Lodge Hotel was recommended as an ideal place to stop for lunch. We originally booked for 1.15pm but had to ring ahead to say that we would be late. The person we spoke to was really understanding and advised that it wouldn't be a problem which was very reassuring. The hotel has its own mooring so we simply tied up and headed in. Dogs are welcome (just not in the restaurant) so we had a table in the lounge. 3 of the party had the roast beef Sunday lunch with 'proper' homemade yorkies and I had the seabass which was simply delicious. Bowls of veg and cauliflower cheese were served separately and when we asked for more veg, it was not an issue. We all throughly enjoyed our meals and whilst it's not the cheapest - each course has a fixed price - overall we felt it was good value as the quality was high.

Sunday lunch with quick but not rushed service. Excellent sea bass, and a roast beef with all the trimmings to die for. Modern and neat. Excellent parking. Friendly and welcoming staff.

This was our first visit to this establishment and we were not disappointed. We went with friends and had an enjoyable evening. It was a very busy Saturday with all tables occupied, but the staff were very good at getting to us straight away to make sure we had drinks and the menus to view. The choices on the menu were good and the food was excellent. Both the pork dishes and the duck were absolutely lovely. We will definitely return.

Melt in your mouth Tempura prawns....perfect pan fried sea bass...the most delicious peanut butter brule ...... think I will propose to the chef!

We had a lovely meal in the hotel today. Staff were working very hard to keep service timely. Not an easy task in such a busy restaurant on Mother's Day. Thank you everyone.

A favourite place of ours since moving to this part of England in 2010. Pleasant staff and a good choice from an A la Carte menu on a Sunday evening. We stayed traditional and went for steak, with a choice of a sauce served separately. Could have gone down the surf and turf route but preferred my Prawn Cocktail starter. The Steak was superb and melted in the mouth. I should have stopped there but couldn't resist a Chocolate meringue washed down with an Irish Coffee. The wife enjoyed her trio of Ice cream with a brandy coffee. We felt we are well looked after and applaud the accessibility for wheelchairs. Other restaurants please note.

Recently visited the Crown at Outwell for a birthday party, overall venue is very nice and food quality is excellent. However expensive for very small portions,deserts costing £6 ended up feeling hungry when we arrived back home.
