Tom went way and beyond to get me the food I wanted today and it was served perfectly hot and quickly also my hot chocolate was delicious

Crown Inn is the place to go to eat. Had dinner with my husband for his birthday. Meal was delicious and hubby loved the Cullen skink soup. Staff were very polite with excellent service. Wouldn't eat anywhere else. Heartfelt thanks to Tom and Marcus for making our night special. Xxxx

Food was pretty tssty and well priced. The restaurant lacked atmosphere, but was full when we visited on a Friday afternoon. Enjoyed a very good pint of Jarl with my meal. The bar is a nicer room, quite small, but cosy.

We made a booking here and they were able to seat us early, as it wasn't busy yet. The good things ended there however. The burger pretty much tied for the worst hamburger I've ever had in my life. Odd flavor and very dry. Other person in the party had some kind of chicken sandwich that was just described as "meh." We didn't bother with dessert, as the meal was so terrible, we didn't want to waste more money on bad food. Servers were nice though. Do yourself a favor and go over the the HS-1 restaurant on the same street a few blocks over - as the food there was outstanding.

Being vegan is always challenging when looking for good food , being vegan in the Outer Hebrides was proving impossible. After a very long day sightseeing we found the Crown Inn in Stornoway through a google search and boy it did not disappoint. A very warm welcome from the staff , quick and efficient ordering and the food came pretty quickly, sometimes not a good sign. Well, the vegan pizza was out of this world, probably one of the best I’ve ever had. It was fresh, hot and had plenty topping. My husband had the vegan burger and chips which he loved. Next up was the vegan sticky toffee pudding and ice cream , again this was just outstanding. To top it all of the dog was treated to a big bowl of water and plate of dog biscuits. Great customer service , amazing food and attention to detail . Thank you to all the staff there.

A pleasant meal with great food and diligent staff. The mussels were particularly good. We would certainly return to this restaurant.

we arrived slightly late but staff were not worried by that. restaurant was almost full when we arrived and staff were very busy. service was at the perfect speed for us as we were chatting. portions were very generous and good. 1 vegan and one vegetarian in the party were happy wither choices. Would defiantly recommend.

Spent the day in the Crown with 2 old friends, we had food and drinks, played a few games of pool. Staff were amazing, friendly and really good craic. We had plans for food elsewhere but decided to go upstairs for food above the bar. Had mussels and burgers, food was amazing, atmosphere relaxed, staff upstairs and downstair amazing. Whatever staff you have, keep them worth their weight in gold. Bravo

You will not get a better Coffee in Storners this coupled with relaxing quiet atmosphere again the 125 mile round trip is always my 1st go stop !

Very disappointed with the service for our meal tonight at The Crown hotel stornoway. We sat for an hour waiting for our main course and had to ask if our food was coming as other tables with more people at them had come in ordered and meal was served😡we also sat looking at empty glasses for half an hour and still not one staff member came near our table until I called one over😡. It is not front of house that take so long to serve but would have been nice for at least one staff member to come and let us know what was going on and or even offer a drink!! Steven did say when paying the bill about the wait and they just said they only had 2 chefs on not an apology a discount or even a drink knocked off the bill for the wait. Safe to say we will not rush back and would not recommend anyone to go for a meal any time soon. Feel for the young girls that are serving as they can not have been trained on service. All it would have taken is to ask if we were ok, did we want anything to drink while we waited for our meal and let us know the meal was going to take so long. It was only fish and chips and a fajita nothing fancy.

No booking are being taken for the restaurant but we arrived on a very busy Tuesday and were greeted with a smile and the offer of sitting in the comfortable residents lounge which proved a good move as it was so quiet with chilled music playing. Food was good quality and portions were generous, prices were reasonable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend if in the area.

This restaurant has registered with the governments ‘eat out to help out’ scheme which was introduced A) to help the struggling restaurant sectorB) to help the struggling families who may not be able to eat out. The Crown appears on the government website - so we decided to go on a Wednesday night to support the scheme. We queried the bill when it appeared - no discount applied. Queried this with server ‘yes I’ve been asked that a lot today but we’re not doing it this week...’But it’s a government scheme that started on the 3rd‘No we can’t do it this week...times are hard and our menu is already cheap....’Erm...not really the point ... and it’s not you that’s out of pocket as the government reimburse you... it’s the poor NHS worker who wanted a wee treat for her family that is now out of pocket.... you won’t be getting our support for your business again.

AVOID. We anticipated a casual beer and a burger with no fuss and unfortunately our expectations were evidently too high. We’re not quite sure what happened here but the pictures and reviews to date (04/08/20) do not reflect the current ‘restaurant’ and menu. We ordered drinks, which only just turned up before our food because we chased them. This was 40 minutes after ordering. The burgers start at £9 with no chips and no sauce!!! £1-£1.50 for the pleasure of those (each). Wouldn’t be an issue if the burger was beautifully hand made and juicy, but was clearly out the freezer. Complete rip off. The pizza we ordered was very good - no complaints at all. To claim this place is a restaurant, with no starter or dessert options, is an insult to the industry. The service was lousy, with tables not being cleared after over 1 hour of being vacated and our own plates not being cleared away a full half an hour after finishing. If you want pizza and slow drinks, fill your boots. Otherwise AVOID.

stayed at the crown hotel stornaway last weekend ,i could not say enough good things about them ,clean rooms the staff are so helpful polite friendly nothing was to much trouble especially callan he was absolutly great , the breakfast was lovely and great value for money we woulnt stay anywhere else now when we visit stornaway ,it will be the crown everytime, I We would like to give all the staff at the crown a great big thankyou ,and we hope to see you again soon Karen & Ian Briscoe

These were the tastiest fish and chips that we had during our stay. Very reasonable price and the view over the harbour is a great accompaniment.

So happy to have eaten here on our visit to Stornoway. Not the most inspiring looking building and we were wary when we arrived - but it was the only dog friendly restaurant that we could find when looking up TripAdvisor. You can’t see the bar from the street entrance, so we were thrilled when we went in and up a few stairs to find a brilliantly stocked bar (the gin choice was the best I’ve seen and loved the Glas-wee-gin!) The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming, especially to our dog which set the tone so very well. The sharing Nachos went down very well and the mussels that followed were fabulous. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed his Greek salad - we left satisfied on all counts. Many thanks!

Acting on previous reviews we were not disappointed- the food was great service efficient, the Chef was also able to accommodate a special request even though we have been advised a item was not available. Thank you we will be back.

We came to Stornoway after spending a rainy day on Lewis and Harris and found this gem of a place! The food was delicious, we are both vegans and the range of options blew us away. We had a delightful flatbread starter and a beautiful double spiced bean burger, I had a soy Cappuccino too. Everything was so well made and satisfying. Must make a comment on the service too, everyone was friendly, smiling and didn't mind our vegan pickiness at all! A must visit for anyone coming to Stornoway.

It's rare to be in a new town and fall upon exactly what you hoped would be waiting for you for lunch! The bar served excellent local beer. The restaurant - with a spectacular view of the harbour - was spacious and well-patronised by local people and visitors of all ages. All the staff were young and charming, welcoming and professional. We started with local mussels - probably the best we have ever eaten anywhere including at home! Followed by a large helping of delicious local haggis, black pudding and chips. A cup of really good coffee rounded off a very special meal.

Fabulous lunch on a Sunday in Stornoway. The mussels were fresh in a tasty broath and with freshly baked bread. The beer was cold and the service was good.

I stayed here for 3 nights in the hotel , the food at breakfast served in the restaurant was lovely, smoked salmon was amazing, continental and hot food. The tomatoes at breakfast were delicious (mixed with garlic), haggis was lovely too. Dinner time was very buy with lots of diners. The food is all just lovely, highly recommended this restaurant.

It's not much to look at from the outside but the staff are marvellous - friendly, helpful and very welcoming. They're also very dog friendly and offered our dog a bowl of water and treats! The food was delicious, best chips ever, skin on, crispy outside, fluffy middles and not greasy. The cheesiest mac and cheese and a mahoosive smoked fish burger all yummy. Definitely recommend and would eat there again no problem, fantastic place

Overall a nice dining experience for the family - food was probably better than I would’ve expected. Kids were all pleased with their pizzas. staff went the extra mile when they’d run out of the kids desserts by offering an alternative - which the children really enjoyed.

We really enjoyed our family meal here. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. The macaroni with haggis and black pudding was delicious. The loaded fries weren’t upto much but they were ok. The kids pizzas were also delicious and the kids loved them. I would definitely go back here to eat.

I usually wouldn't write a review, but this place I couldn't let slide. We ordered a margarita pizza and loaded spicy beef fries. Firstly it is pricey. The pizza came out and was overcooked. The crust outer was burnt. The loaded fries wornt so loaded nor were they spicy!. This has been the worst flavourliss place we have been to yet. It should be changed into a firefoghters training ground and burnt to the ground. It's good for nothing else. Oh one last thing, they have signs all over the place saying they specialise in craft beer, but the menu doesn't have any information about the craft of the beers at all on it. Save some data because you will need to search yourself

We went because this place is dog friendly and it is! We all, dog included, sat in the bar area and were made to feel welcome by the young staff. The food menu was a bar menu but clearly some thought had gone into it and my two teenagers ate Cajun chicken burgers which were huge. I ordered a cosmopolitan cocktail and whilst it took a while to arrive, when it did it was awesome - best I’ve had!!

Stopped off for dinner here with my wife and the dog, in the upper lounge. Great range of food available at reasonable prices. Highly recommend this place.

Firstly dogs welcome and kids! Very rare for some reason so loving it already! Then I saw the gin selection ... even better!! Nice menu with a good variety and a kids menu too.

Restaurant im 1. Stock. Nette Bedienung, tolle Karte, wir hatten pizza und einen Side Salat bestellt. Der Salat war richtig frisch und sehr fein. Die Pizza mit Thunfisch und oliven war auch sehr gut. Der Teig nicht zu dünn.

Most places on Lewis are closed on a Sunday. The Crown Inn in Stornoway is one of the few places where you can have dinner on a normal Sunday. And we were not disappointed : good food and a nice selections of drinks : we were happy with it.

We visited The Crown Inn in May 2019 for dinner and drinks. There is a fantastic selection of craft beers, fantastic choice of gin and quite a few non alcoholic beers and ciders. We ordered fish and chips and mussels. I cannot find words to describe how delicious food was. Mussels were absolutely oustanding, best I ever had. Sauce was out of this world and it came with still warm lovely bread sticks. Fish and chips came with mushy peas and sauce. Batter was delicious and fish was nice and fresh. Restaurant has a nice decor, it overviews the port and staff couldn't be more friendly.

We were tired upon checking into the Crown Hotel, so decided to just eat at the hotel restaurant. There is an interesting menu with everything from pizza to burgers to mussels. I had a haddock Fish cake burger and my wife had a pizza. Both were ok and pretty much hit the spot. Fish cakes were mostly “cake” and not fish, but still tasty. Pizza is of the thin crust variety and pretty darn tasty. Our server was excellent and very friendly. Everything came out as ordered and nice and warm. Fish cake burger came with chips by the way.

We had finished cycling The Hebridean Way and stayed in Stornoway. We had struggled the whole trip with places being dog friendly so where delighted when a kind lady recommended The Crown. We were welcomed by the young man behind the bar who immediately brought out water for our dog. We enjoyed our meal of muscles and calamari, followed by fish and chips served with a smile from a lovely lady. I would recommend to anyone.
