My family and I (husband and 15 yr old daughter) stayed here for a week. Although it appears to be in the middle of nowhere, it's in the perfect spot for touring Cornwall. The lodge we stayed in was clean and spacious, and altho we were all in the same room, the layout of having the single bed in an alcove next to the bathroom gave us all a little privacy. We also really appreciated having access that wasn't via the pub and a separate little parking area just for residents. But what really makes this place special are your hosts Dave and Bernie, they're so accommodating, welcoming and friendly. After only a couple of days it felt like we were spending time with old friends. And to top it off the food is so good and very generous, you will never go hungry!! We are hoping to return to Cornwall in a couple of years, and we already know where we'll be staying 😁

Great good. Friendly hosts. What more could you want. Stayed in the lodge for two nights and made use of the restaurant. Not disapointed. Highly recommended.

What a find! The hosts Dave and Bernie were so welcoming, from booking in until we settled our bill. We staying 4 nights at one of the lodges with our springer spaniel and enjoyed very minute. The lodges were very spacious, especially as we had two dog beds with us! It was great having a fridge where we could keep fresh milk and plenty of supplies for making tea. Dave cooked an excellent full English breakfast each morning and remembered our requests each day. We did not need to have lunch! Each morning Dave and Bernie would sit down, have a chat about anything and also gave us tips where to visit. Exceptional hosts. The bar was very welcoming, together with the bar staff. There was a good selection of food on offer, all cooked fresh by Dave (apart from Wednesdays - his day off). It was good wholesome food and there was never any excuse to go hungry. I think we worked our way through the majority of the menu. His desserts were great, although we could only manage two! The location of the Crown Inn is ideal if you wish to explore the area. Majority of areas (ie St Ives or Lands End) are only approximately three quarters of hour by car. Dave and Bernie will give you tips of where to visit, including going to St Ives by train! We had an incident of a bulb shattering and the hosts could not be more apologetic. Bernie was straight in there next morning, hoovering the whole lodge and changing our bedding. We were able to take our dog into the bar each night whilst we ate and he also received quite a few treats! The only one thing I would say is the shower cubicle is slightly small, my husband has trouble moving round in it. But this did not spoil anything, just one minor thing. The bed was a good sized double and very comfortable. The lodge had central heating but as we visited in June, this was not required. There is a garden area outside the lodge but no view. However this did not deter us, we just needed the garden for the dog. Every Tuesday evening Bernie does a quiz night, we participated and had a great laugh. Dave even cooked bowls of chips for half time, at no cost to us. If you are looking for home from home accommodation and food, visit The Crown Inn. We will visit again if we go down to Cornwall.

we had a lovely 2 night stay in one of the lodges. Our room was very clean and very comfortable. The owners Bernie and Dave were so very welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was one of the best breakfasts I have had from a hotel, a real home cooked breakfast with everything you could want. Definitely recommend this establishment and will definitely return.

We had an evening meal here. The food was excellent, all home cooked. Service was very friendly. There were good bitters available and a good wine list. There was a good choice of dishes. Music was not too loud. All in all, we had a particularly enjoyable meal. The meal was also very good value.

We stay at Clowance Estate on a regular basis and often drive past this venue, we made the effort to visit last Friday, what a delight, a warm friendly welcome, a proper pub! We chose to eat, what great food, generous portions, excellent quality and great value for money. This was our first visit, it will certainly not be our last.

We stayed for a short midweek stay last October. We took our two dogs with us. Bernie and Dave were amazing hosts, we had such a lovely stay, we were made to feel most welcome as were our dogs. We travelled down from Lincolnshire overnight, we requested an early check in so we could rest up right away and this was no problem. The lodge was comfy and clean. Food was fantastic, breakfast especially! Pub atmosphere great, locals made us feel most welcome too. Great selection of ales. Great facilities, lovely powerful shower, surrounding outside areas all well presented. Very pleased to say we are booked in for another stay in august which we are so excited about, really can't wait. Many thanks to Bernie and Dave.

A quiet, and quite, unique little place, that if you want to be made to feel like a local within minutes, you really need to try. All the very efficient and friendly bar staff talk to you as though you are in there every night and its just as easy to talk to any locals at the bar as well. Becca and the young lady serving the food were just worth their weight in gold and the landlord is just as unique It is in fact what every pub in the country should be, but sadly few are. I would travel far for a pub with banter such as this - you real feel you have made good friends with everyone. Round this of with great food - particularly the curry!!- and you won't go far wrong. This is a priceless little find and one you should definately try, ...often!

We discovered this establishment by chance and our expectations were met in full. The owners are a lovely friendly couple who go that extra mile to ensure your stay is both memorable and enjoyable. If you were a lone traveller then rest assured the staff would engage you in conversation if you so wished so as not to feel excluded. The accommodation is self contained and housed in four lodges detached from the pub which ensures noise levels are kept to a minimum. The rooms are clean, comfortable and larger that average with ample instant hot water and individual heating controls. Each lodge has its own section of a communal garden with table and chairs great for sitting out on a summers evening. Also residents have there own car parking area adjacent to the accommodation. Breakfast was first class, cooked fresh with local produce, and both hosts on hand to offer local knowledge or answer any other questions. I would have no hesitation recommending this accommodation to both family and friends and also the food and drink in the pub is first class. We would definitely return again when next in the area. Thanks for a great stay!

We were greeted with a huge, warm, cheery welcome and was shown around the pub as well as to our room. The rooms were very cosy, warm, lovely smelling, clean and tidy. It felt like travelling from home to home, lovely presented rooms with everything you need. Our 2 young children felt so comfortable in their surroundings that they took off running around in the garden and were playing with the range of games and books in the corner. The pub in the evenings has a fantastic atmosphere, pet friendly and great service. Breakfast and dinner was just wonderful and cooked to order. I've never had a full English Breakfast match up to what i had here! Even the lasagna and curries are truly scrummy and the children ate every dinner that was served to them! Owners have a wealth of knowledge of all the Touristy places to visit and all the beautiful secret hidden beaches, it made our trip a very easy one. We have been here twice before and we shall continue to do so every year, if ever a place to stay in Cornwall, then this is the place to be!

A large granite building in the little hamlet of Crowntown, between Redruth and Helston, I have been here many times, and never been disappointed. One main bar with a pool room to one side, and private booths off the main bar, this is a local pub but perfect for visitors seeking something away from the main tourist areas.Good food and beer, highly recommended.

This restaurant/pub was recommended to me. Tucked away in a rural area of Cornwall, I booked a table for four of us. Although they had a large party of 40 to cater for, they were happy to accommodate us. I was a little worried that it could affect the speed of service for us but I was wrong to worry. The variety of menu was excellent (something to please everyone), each option was really reasonably priced and the portion sizes were very generous. The service was very good, we didn't have to wait very long at all and we weren't rushed or left alone for long periods. Our only complaint: the plates were too small for the portion sizes!!! I will definitely visit there again!

Dropped in for lunch on a Saturday, what a fantastic find!! Funky and quirky vegan cafe. Loved the layout and decor. Best chai latte ever. Absolutely gorgeous tofu tacos, and the squash salad was sooo tasty. It’s dog friendly too!! Young lady was on her own front of house, and the cafe was full, she was run off her feet, but she was brilliant - well done!! Now top of our list for lunching in Mousehole!

They make you feel like part of the family. It's clean, tidy, always smells so good woth the cakes and coffee, I always feel like I'm home when I go in.

Very good B&B in a very central location. But it is very expensive so 'value for money' comes into question. Very good cooked breakfast served in the mornings but for the money it should provide freshly squeezed orange juice.

We found our way to Freathy Farmhouse Cafe by following a sign from Whitsand Bay. What a lovely find! Very rustic and charming cafe. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed very generous sandwiches served with delicious salad. Some of us even managed cake! We will definitely return although I understand it is best to check opening times. Ps Loved the decor in the loo!
