The Crown in Bedford

The food was not good at all my uncle ordered a prime rib slow cooked for 7 hours but they even said they didn't cook it today and it was meant to be fall off the bone he had to cut it off and the lady said that it was fall off the but it clearly wasn't. Not the best I don't recommend it at all. Bad

We had a lovely meal for a friend’s birthday and the service from Charlotte was outstanding. Helpful, quick, friendly and funny. All with a big smile 😃

Booked for a 70th birthday lunch with my Mum. We had a delicious meal and pudding and the service from Gary throughout (and Scott beforehand) was fabulous. Really lovely food and very thoughtful gestures for my Mum, even a birthday card! Would absolutely recommend and will be back.

Had a Boxing day festive lunch, atmosphere was lovely and service professional and pleasant. Our meals were very nice, Turkey and Braised beef to die for. Wonderful lunch couldn't fault anything, will definitely return Thank you

We came for Sunday lunch as a family of 5 and were seated with no booking. The food was lovely, roast turkey was tender and everything was delicious. Kids meals are great and the desserts looked amazing. We were just too full to eat them as adults. Great value and excellent customer service.

The food was good, the service was good but when I got home me and my sister were violently sick for 3 days this has happened before but not as bad as this time. Now we went here for my birthday and they put candles on my pudding that was highly appreciated so that’s a star also waiter was very nice so that’s a star ⭐️ food also was amazing so that’s a star but I ordered a Fanta but they told me they had ran out so I ordered a lemonade instead when the bill came they charged us for the Fanta and the lemonade witch I guess is not a big deal and most likely a mistake. I would love to give this a 5 star rating but the fact I have been sick 2 out of the 3 times coming here I think it’s a fair review to give it 3. Hopefully people find this review helpful. Went in to get something to eat and saw only one server who looked like they was halfway near passing out. could barely get a word out, was leaning up against walls to not fall over and was clearly very ill. There is no need to come into work in that condition and it made me wince at the idea they had someone that sick serving food who clearly needed to be at home. Disgusting

Six of us had our Christmas meals here this evening. Excellent service, from friendly staff, nothing too much trouble.Thank you Danielle. The food was amazing - how the chef gets the turkey as tender as that is fab and huge ‘pigs in blankets’. The chocolate bell desert was to die for. A bit of a lively crowd in the corner having noisy fun, but a great atmosphere still.

You knew ln advance that 20 of us would be coming for lunch. You had the choice of food that each person had chosen well in advance, but still my main course arrived cool but the veg was cold.

The food was absolutely amazing and they were accommodating for our little one! Shannon was incredible and attentive plus any other staff that we spoke to. We spent about £40-50 per person for 3 courses and 2 drinks

Lovely dinner after a cold and wet weekend away just what we needed. Staff all lovely and very attentive think there names were Sue and billie! We both had roasts and was all so lovely.

Absolutely flawless. The staff were incredible, so welcoming and friendly. The food was easily one of the best i’ve had out in a long time. Music wasn’t too loud, it was warm and cozy. We had sunday roasts and it was frankly the tastiest dinner i’ve had away from home in a long long time. 10/10 will be coming back!

Christmas turkey was nice, some of the veg a little undercooked for me! Personal choice. Gary the server was very kind and patient, attentive without being overbearing. Lovely pub atmosphere, and the seating was comfortable and not near the big groups.

We came for a meal on thursday and it was wonderful - lovely food and service. We returned on Sunday and it was completely different , service poor and sporadic, food not as described on menu - we had trio of roasts- there was no root vegetables ,beef dry and overcooked ( definitely not pink) , no cracking with pork - just a lump of soggy fat. Very disappointed .

I had breakfast here after staying in the adjacent Premier Inn and then lunch with a friend. On entering the pub a sign says wait to be seated. So i did wait..and wait..and wait. Despite a staff member seeing me and now small queue behind me, no offer to help or find a person who could nor apology for the wait. If I was having breakfast here again I would opt for the continental as the cooked was not great. Crusty, hard sausage, overcooked bacon and scrambled eggs that looked as if they had been thrown on the plate. Also, where are the plates for toast and baked goods? Lunch was a little better, the beef rib was good, tender but not a lot of flavour. The waitress warned me not to touch the plate as it was hot. Must be using a special porcelain as it was very cool within a few minutes, hence the food cools quickly. Not sure about the choice of white cabbage as a vegetable as there is a lot of stalk. Value foe money was quite good.

Been driving past this pub for years and always said to myself. “I must try that place out sometime”. So glad I eventually did! I took my parents there. (Who live locally) and had never been themselves. I must say, the food is amazing. Served hot and in good time. Service was with a smile and good humour from our waiter Gary. I can recommend the home made battered fish and chips, the gammon was my parent’s choice, which looked and tasted delicious. As did halloumi fries and burger my wife and youngest son had. This will now become our new favourite place to eat. 6 people ate. At a cost of just over £100 including dessert & drinks. So bravo to the staff & management at the restaurant. Keep up the great standards.

Was disappointed in the food this time, I have been before and really enjoyed it. The service was good and the building decor is nice too.

Had a nice meal for my Mum's birthday. The food was all good, and our waiter Gary was friendly and attentive throughout. All for a very reasonable price. Couldn't ask for more.

Had a delicious Sunday roast on the 10th November. Served by Gary who was very attentive. The food is always good and you can use Tesco vouchers so great value too.

I’ve had food here many of times and drinks also. The food is beautiful, proper comfort food at a good price! The service is always fast and staff are always polite, professional as well as cheerful. One server that always goes above and beyond is Billie. She’s definitely a credit to the place!

Never been to The Crown before, went today with a large group from Walk and Talk. Service was fast and efficient - particularly as we were a big group. Max, the Chef, produced a wonderful plate of food and I'd definitely recommend The Crown for a tasty weekend breakfast with great service in a cosy environment.

A large group of us visited the Crown in Eaton Socon for breakfast this morning and it was a most enjoyable experience. The service was exceptional, all the food arrived together and was very tasty. Compliments to the Manager Scott who was very accommodating and to the new chef who did a fantastic job. Highly recommended and will definitely be back again soon.

We went there this morning with the Walk and Talk group from St Neots and were treated royally by Scott and his team, who supplied 20 of us with a fabulous breakfast. The service and food was excellent. Definitely plan to go there again.

Called in for breakfast with friends. Prompt service. Great breakfast selection. Scott and the team did us proud. A great place to retreat from the traffic issues outside.

Fully recommend having a visit!

We went here for breakfast this morning as a group of 22 guys from the local Walk & Talk 4 Men community. We received and very warm welcome and had a really enjoyable breakfast. When the team realised we were a local volunteer group they made a real fuss of us all. Staff very super friendly and a special shout out to Scott the manager who took the time to talk to us and engage with the group. Highly recommend this pub. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks to Scott and the team.

Five of us met for lunch as we do a couple of times a year at The Crown - it’s about half way for each family to meet ‘in the middle’. We all enjoyed our food and drinks and wer looked after by Billie - impeccably efficient, caring and with a bubbly personality.

We took family, including two young grandchildren (7/9yrs) for a 1pm meal. The service was good and the food was excellent. The grandchildren even ventured into desserts and announced that they were the best they had had (and they have been out quite regularly!).

A large group of 24 of us ate here for a pre wedding meal and we had a fantastic time. The food service was amazing, all orders correct and many compliments from friends and family. Stayed at Premier Inn and ate at The Crown Inn which is virtually directly in front. Had evening meal and two breakfasts. Gary was really helpful and the food was just what we wanted for all the meals. Great atmosphere and what a good idea to twin with the Premier Inn.

Staying at the premier inn next door this pub is where breakfast is served, Absolutely lovely helpful staff, my server was Gary and he was friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble, the options for a vegan were enough for a filling breakfast, the cooked breakfast was fabulous, lovely sausages (quorn) Hash browns, mushrooms, beans and some bubble and squeak. Nice selection of bread too. Everything was lovely and clean and presented well. I'm here for two nights so looking forward to my breakfast tomorrow.

We had breakfast, both the food and service were great, we were staying at the adjoining premier inn and instead of the cooked food being buffet style it was ordered and delivered to the table which resulted in a much better experience Gary looked after us extremely well

Staff were very helpful, friendly and keen to get things right for me as I have dairy milk intolerance. They have an iPad to give customers which can identify the meals that are safe for me and it gives details of additional food intolerance. Atmosphere was relaxed, ideal for families, food tasted very wholesome, well presented. Thank you Sue and colleague who looked after my needs so well. See you again! Terri

We have just had a fantastic meal, everything was cooked perfectly. The service was very good, and Sue, who looked after us, was amazing. Very friendly and lovely. We will definitely be paying the Crown another visit.

Visited over a weekend, slightly by chance as staying in the hotel behind. On the Saturday had a lovely lunch. Shannon spent much time talking to us about the pub and it's history (ask about the ghost stories!!) Enjoyed ourselves so much that we booked in for Sunday lunch the next day. Gary gave great service! Fantastic "hidden gem".

Stopped for a meal by chance on our way home. Nice looking pub with beer garden, but we ate inside this oak-beamed building. We were greeted and served by Garry who asked about any allergies or food intolerances and seated. After a few minutes he asked if we wanted drinks, then brought them and later took our food order. This came within 10 minutes. Food was good, and not too expensive, so we had coffees and a pudding, which was also good. Got the bill soon after asking and I was pleased to see that the card machine did not ask me for a tip. A pub we would use again if passing as the right time.

A meeting of friends coming from different directions. Ample parking and plenty of tables with good room in the restaurant. Comfortable seating and nicely decorated restaurant tho certainly noticed some wear and tear in areas. Service was very good, particularly as we didn't all arrive timeously. Very understanding and accommodating to even enable a phone order whilst on route. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We will meet here again I'm sure. Oh, and the food really good starters and mains was glorious. Mushrooms for starters. Pies of perfection and probably the best salad ever tasted. Well done. Would be a 5star review but for a slight overcook on puddings but that was corrected. Thanks for a great evening.

I went out for an evening meal with my girlfriend on Sunday and I am very pleased to say that our experiences were absolutely amazing! We had a Sunday roast dinner and it was gorgeous! The atmosphere was also very romantic and warm-welcoming, the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and very helpful with our requirements. Because of our outstanding experiences, we will be definitely coming back to the pub again! Thank you so much to the staff for all their support and excellent hospitality!

We were a group of 6. As always, a delicious meal and excellent, prompt, and friendly service in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Today we stopped for lunch. Food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Billie was fabulous and helped my mum when she had a dizzy turn. Cannot thank her enough. Facilities were clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend a stop here and will think twice before driving past in the future.
