We have been a few times here now for Sunday lunch and the food is fantastic. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We went with friends who also really liked it and have been back with us twice already. We usually stay on for the band which are generally excellent. A great day/night out at a great price. I will miss the current owners when they leave and can only hope the new owners keep it the same and don't try to fix something that's already mended.

I booked the cricketers as I it was recommended, the starters was delicious but the roast dinner were a complete let down. Roast potatoes tasted like they had been reheated, the Yorkshire pudding was very bland, the only thing that was good was the meat and veg. The chicken and leek pie had not been cook properly as pastry was still raw. We ended up in M&S to get something to eat as we were still hungry when we left. Will not be going back again. But have yo say the starters was really nice and we enjoyed it. Just a sham the main course let them down.

we took the mother in law there for Sunday lunch ,have been there before had a great meal, went there today mother in law can't eat much so we asked if she could have the soup and a prawn cocktail instead of a Sunday roast lunch they said yes no problem our meal was lovely can't fault it but can fault the mother in laws when we got the bill we got charged for 3 sunday roasts which although mum in law didn't have one we didn't mind that, the only thing I can fault was they charged her £1.50 extra for the prawn cocktail which was taking the Mick they wouldn't budge on it but as long as £1.50 was worth it, as well as losing 3 customers and getting slagged off on here, perhaps it was but we certainly dont be going back out of principal.

Although I’ve visited the Cricketers numerous times for their great Sunday roasts, I’ve never been for the Saturday Steak Night, nor have I left a review. This weekend we ventured down from Hornchurch to see our friends, check out the steaks and grab a few laughs. Carlo, Christina and the family run the Cricketers and always provide an Italian welcome that makes you feel as if you’re long time friends. Carlo always makes a point of checking that we enjoyed the meal which is a lovely touch considering he’s running a busy kitchen. The 3 course meal comes with a lovely bottle of Tempranillo, and I consider it a bargain at £15! I’ve paid more for a rack of ribs at Harvester! We both opted for the scallops, gently seared on a bed of couscous, 4 on each plate and large enough to cut in half, I don’t often see these on a set menu! The other options included Bang Bang Chicken, Haloumi & quinoa or homemade pate and one of our party opted for his favourite, broccoli and stilton soup which wasn’t on the menu but prepared fresh! For main course my wife opted for the fish pie as she doesn’t eat red meat, in contrast I opted to pay the extra for the T-bone steak. We were both impressed, my steak was lightly sea salted and extremely tender, and arrived rare as ordered. It filled the plate, with chips and mushrooms underneath, looking down the table at those who ordered the sirloin steak it seemed everyone was happy with the large amount of food, if there were any complaint it was that the plate wasn’t big enough!! :) Deserts of cheesecake, tart, ice cream or cheese followed. But as a special pre-order Carlo treated me to a board of Italian cheeses. They were fantastic and included smoked mozzarella which I've never tried before. I’m guessing this will be a one off, but it shows the attention Carlo and the team put towards creating a great experience. No wonder its always busy here, its just a shame its not at the bottom or our road!

I went here with my 2 sisters for lunch having booked which was a good idea as place was packed when we got there. We had the 3 courses of which were all really nice albeit alittle small but with 3 courses it was enough. I had melon to start with a dressing which was lovely then roast lamb followed by apple pie and cream. The staff were very friendly and service very good. I would recommend it. Such good value.

Having been to the steak night at the Cricketers before and had a great meal we were really looking forward to a nice evening. The starters arrived and were excellent. We asked the waiter/barman which steak he recommended and he suggested we have the rib eye. So we all ordered the rib eye steak and when it arrived were very disappointed. One of us complained at the time that it tasted off and the waitress proceeded to argue with her. She had her meal replaced with a sirloin steak which she was satisfied with. The other three of us agreed that our rib eye steaks also didn't taste or smell right so we left them. When the waiter took our plates he did not question why we hadn't eaten our meals, were not offered a replacement meal or appologised to by the staff. After a heated discussion in which the manager told us we had to pay for the three un eaten meals because we didnt actually say they tasted and smelt off we did eventually get the three un eaten meals taken off the bill, but they itemised the rest of the items including the bottle of wine which we should have got free, in fact we should have been given two bottles .All in all a very unpleasant evening.

If you like good value and pleasant service then go to the cricketers public house in westcliff. Yesterday evening my wife and I plus a couple of friends visited the establishment for what was called a jazz night which was most enjoyable: mostly because it was free. But the real reason for the review was the fact that the food was excellent well cooked nicely presented and reasonably priced. A threecourse meal for less than £13 in any other restaurant is almost impossible to find considering that the main course was rib-eye steak with the appropiate trimmings. The staff in the restaurant are both pleasant in manner and very helpful in every other way nothing was to much trouble. As a regular visitor to this restaurant mainly for sunday lunch which cost only £5-70 for a three course meal at which a struggle takes place to try to do justice to the size of the portions. I would reccomend that if you want and expect value and service then make the cricketers public house your watering hole for all your needs on a sunday

We visited this Pub not sure what to expect and we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was first class and very well presented I had the liver and bacon which was tender and very tasty. There were 12 of us in our party and everyone was impressed with their meals and more than that the price was very reasonable.Would have no problem in recommending.

I like the Cricketers, its been decorated well and is a great out of town bar. Lots of space, loads of seats and plenty of bar space to get served.

A bit disappointing, the article in the Evening Echo was very good , but the rice was very sticky and lumpy and they kept bringing meals to the wrong tables. So not a good experience.
