Still the best Thai food I’ve had in the UK! Service was outstanding and the inside was very clean and welcoming. Urge you all to get the mango sticky rice! DELICIOUS

I always love this restaurant however we all left rather disappointed last night. Ordered some beautiful food but one dish was terrible (the duck covered in taramind sauce) the duck was dry and overcooked - I’ve had this dish many times in this restaurant and its usually beautiful. What made me sad is that we complained and it wasn’t acknowledged properly and was added to the bill plus a service charge which again I don’t agree with. We don’t live in America!

Great food ... relaxing ambience

Normally order from another Thai place in Leigh, fancied a change, and it was superb. Weeping tiger beef highlight.

This is a very nice Thai restaurant and they will cater for individual tastes when you order, so if you like things a little more or less spicy, you are on solid ground. Whenever we go there, I always ask for Nam Prik Pla, which is no problem (although I would prefer it if more Thai restaurants just provided it as a condiment without having to ask). Very good quality food, traditional surroundings and excellent service combine to make this a real treat for Thai food fans.

My partner and I recently visited Tara Thai on a birthday trip to Southend. The food was exquisite and the restaurant is so clearly cared for with beautiful fresh flowers daily and gorgeous, clean furniture. We got such a warm welcome as we were shown to our table and, as a vegetarian and teetotaller, I was very happy to see just how many options I had to choose from on the menu. Most importantly, Joy was possibly our favourite waitress that has ever served us anywhere in our lives. She was so much fun, so attentive, and provided such a great service that sometimes get forgotten in restaurants today - like asking if we wanted a break between courses because our starters came to us so very quickly. I hope we can return some day!

The food is excellent, super cosy and elegant atmosphere. The staff is very welcoming exactly like in Thailand. Highly recommend it! 👌

Hi I would like to say Tara Thai is a beautiful restaurant to go and spend time celebrating your special occasion .We have been going for over 10 years now. Beautiful food and staff are very attentive and it’s brilliant for wheelchair access. It’s our favourite place . Mr&Mrs Cohen Rochford.

Everything about this place is excellent. The food is great, the atmosphere is cosy with the wood panelled walls and soft lighting. The service is friendly and welcoming, but still professional. One of my favourites!

Came here last night and the restaurant suppassed our expectations. The food was delicious and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was very quiet but this was expected on a Tuesday night however, Joy our waitress more than made up for this with her larger than life and bubbly personality. She was the highlight of the whole experience. Will definitely dine here again.

First time sat this restaurant, with 7 others originally booked for 12. Nothing was too much trouble, they just adjusted the tables to suit. The food was hot and well presented, also really delicious. Levels of service was very good and, I confess I will be going back. Excellent value for money.

Best Thai restaurant in Southend.

This is our favourite take away hands down! We’ve tried most of the dishes on the menu now and love them all. The food always arrives hot and fresh, We like that they always have the same delivery driver too as he’s friendly :)

Quality of food is outstanding. They got my order wrong sending 2 chicken green curries instead of prawn, they then sent me 2 additional prawn curries free of charge. So I have green curry to eat all week now! Couldn’t ask for better service - thank you

Ordered a delivery takeaway. Beef massaman, coconut rice and chicken satays with peanut sauce. Pic attached. Beef good quality. Fair sized chunks rather than sizzle slithers. I added a note for the restaurant for red chilli in the curry and this wasn’t done, had to add my own from the freezer. One plate of food delivered for 30 quid though. I wouldn’t order for more than person at that price. £30 a head for an average sized plate of food for takeaway is outrageous man.

VERY POOR BEHAVIOR. I WROTE A REVIEW BUT NOT PUBLISHED. The staff dot know how to behave with their customers. With white customers too sweet and completely opposite with coloured people.

They treat everyone special and cater for the needs. They also suggests which makes life easier at times. As we were asked if the kids can have certain items due to the spice level. I have been there few times and would love to go back.

This restaurant prides itself on great personalised service from its staffs and great food. I have previously dined here on a regular basis many years ago and recently returned. Standards are still high in respect of food quality and customer focus. Tara Prawn crackers are the best that I have ever tasted. Wow!!, I mean I am not ordinarily a fan of prawn crackers but these are different.

Pad Thai was greasy and 3 shriveled up prawns! All food cold, red curry tasty but watery and hardly any chicken.

I travel all over the country with work and have taken it upon myself to get a Thai meal in every place I stay. I also ensure I get the same dish each time to ensure a fair comparison and have to say that Tara Thai is right up there as one of the very best I have tasted! The service is also very good with the lady who served me remembering me from a previous visit! If you like Thai food Tara Thai is a must… Enjpy!

Wow were we happy when we left here. We've been to Thailand and one of the reasons is we love Thai food. We were in Mile and a Third and going to have an Italian but it was closed for the holidays and the nice barman recommended this place. What a delight. Really nice restaurant, nice seating and lay out and the staff were so genuinely friendly. I cant drink at the moment so when I asked for tap water got a glass with ice each and a jug of water straight away. My wife had a nice glass of wine too and not dear. The food was just brilliant. Some of the best Thai we've had in UK. We had mixed vegetarian platter to share to start. Then had two of the specials, different sea basses and both were so nice. Had two veg on the side including morning glory which was delicious and had spring onions in it too. Both portions were a great size. Had a pad mee for some carbs between us which was plenty. We loved every single dish. Just to say the starter is fried so might not be everybody's cup of tea but we like it for starters. This is place is so good, we cant wait to come back. Cost just under £90 for two and worth every penny.

Far later than asked for on Just Eat. Decided to deliver when they felt like it, not when we needed it, over an hour later. We love thai food but will not use tara thai again They didn't care or apologise, very expensive poor quality service and rude and unhelpful when we called very disappointed

We ordered a takeaway from here last night for my Son's 21st birthday for up to 20 people - I spoke to a lovely lady called Koy who when I told her the kind of dishes we wanted, she then made suggestions and calculated how much we needed etc so the whole process was actually pretty quick as we wanted starters, mains, sides & rice/veg/noodles etc. Delivery was arranged for me and I received a callback to confirm the address etc. The food was incredible, I would say the highlights that everyone is still talking about is the Talapia Fish, the Tom Kah Soup and the Laab but we still have a huge amount left so everybody is coming back tonight to finish it off. We received a bottle of wine with the delivery and my colleagues at work have decided we are now ordering from here next week when we are all in the office.! Thank you so much for making my Son's evening special.

Food is very tasty and customer service is good. Located on a busy high street so very difficult to find a parking space and the high street is rather unpleasant area. Otherwise we enjoyed the food . Restaurant is very clean and staff is very friendly.

What a fabulous meal-mixed starter followed by Pa Naeng Chicken Curry. Marvellous - best Thai by far. Decor was lovely, staff very friendly. Whenever we're in Southend we will definitely eat there again. Just sorry we live 90 miles away 😢

Great curry great service great atmosphere

Had a great meal. It was my birthday and the food was really very good. It looked like I had not eaten in a month, given the amount of food I took. Everything is delicious and the staff is always nice to customers.

Very expensive for what there was. Prawn dish was quite nice. No complimentary items. Some of the beef was quite fatty and not very warm either. Not sure if we’d use again. Bit disappointed/ok ish for what was there.

We went for lunch. Not disappointed at all. Tomyum chicken soup was brilliant. Yet another star was Mee Singapore chicken noodles. Coconut pancake was a nice try too. Staff was very nice. Khapunkhai....

Ordered a take away from here tonight via just eat. It was very tasty, but quite expensive and disappointingly no left overs for tomorrow! My husband had some ribs (See Krong Moon) which had a nice sour sauce. They were short ribs. I ordered duck pancakes which were tasty. and finally a Kratiem Prik Thai (Prawn). Portions were average so at nearly £40 I did think it was overpriced. And although very good I didn't think the quality and price correlated unfortunately.

The food here is outstanding and enjoyed every dish we ordered. An amazing restaurant to dine in. Very busy place and dishes came out piping hot, staff are friendly and there was no problem changing a dish we ordered after watching another tables sizzling dish come out and decided to try that instead of what we originally ordered. Will defiantly be returning. Keep up the good work! We need more restaurants like this.

Amazing every single time we order

Booked for 8,30 table for two and was asked to wait, 20 odd minutes later nothing. After half hour I had serious words about a wasted Saturday evening and left. The whole time we were there no food came out, so not sure what time we would have eaten.

Fantastic friendly lively personal service! Tasty food, fun filled atmosphere, even bought me out a birthday desert! We all had a fantastic evening, many thanks!!!

Have been to TT a lot and decided to try our luck after seeing a Matinee at Cliffs Pavillion. As ever friendly, the staff fitted us in as long as we were out by 7.15 as the table was pre-booked. No problems. Have given this an Average as one or two small points knocked us back a little. First and foremost the friendliness of staff was top class. Service was excellent with everybody having a lovely smile. We were slightly disappointed as our "set menu" for £xx was missing which in the past had served us well. Not to be put off we ordered the mixed meat platter for starter and my wife had the Green Curry and I had the Masalam Curry to follow. Food was tasty hot and fresh especially the platter.However though both the curries were very tasty we found that the sauce was quite runny nothing like the "Coconut Milk texture " (creamy and a tad thicker") we have had before and also other restaurants My gripe was (to me) the large amount of onions served up inside the dish and my wife also mention the largish amount of broccoli that was in hers. This may vary for different eateries but first time for us. The chicken was delicate,soft and tender unlike some Chinese that I have been to The meal was good overall and with a small beer came to £61 (including service charge!) Not enough grumbles to put us off visiting again but a distinct change since our last visit and may indeed encourage us look at an alternative in near by Leigh on Sea

I was very glad I found this place. The food was delicious. It was quite busy when I went, and it seemed like they could have used one or two more servers. Anyway, there was a good menu selection, I had chicken satay, and Thai yellow curry, and they were both absolutely spot on.

Dined with a party of 8 people, dinner took around 2.5hrs, very friendly, but staff weren't rushed and it took over 40 minutes to get the bill. The parking is 2hrs max on the street which means it can be a little difficult to eat and risk a ticket. Food was good.

We visited Tara Thai on the 14th of December for dinner. Externally the restaurant was inviting. Internally, the atmosphere was cosy, the lighting was tasteful and the restaurant was clean. We were warmly welcomed and staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. I had stir fried pork with Jasmin rice and my wife had Thilapia with a delicious sauce and rice. The food was extremely flavoursome and authentic. The price was very good value for the money we spent. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was beautiful and despite being a takeaway, presentation was lovely as always but this time everything was cold.

We turned up late on Friday night but they were happy to accommodate the two of us. Shared a Beef Massaman Curry, Chicken Pad Thai and a Sticky rice. Really tasty will definitely go again.

First time visit prior to show at Cliffs Pavilion (only 10 minutes walk). Restaurant lovely, staff very pleasant, food delicious, would defo recommend and will be back again.

I came here a few months ago with my friends from work. I had never been here before, so did not know what to expect, and I was blown away by the quality of both the food, and the service. The meal was reasonably-priced and generous in size. The food was cooked to perfection (the Weeping Tiger sirloin was beautiful). I cannot fault the experience, it was superb!

I feel terrible leaving bad reviews but this really was not nice. I ordered the steamed seabass, tofu red curry, and jasmine rice. The seabass came with so much Kyly it was ridiculous and it was swimming in water, and smelt strongly of fish sauce. The curry was not a very good one. And the rice has dried out. I’ve not been to the restaurant in over 10 years, so can only come in on the takeaway. Delivery driver seemed very nice.

Unfortunately the food was not very nice. The seabass was definitely not worth the money, and came with so much Kyly I had to scrape a lot of it off. It was steamed yet swimming in a watery Bros which smells strongly of fish sauce. The tofu red curry largely went in the bin, the curry sauce itself was not oily and I ate most of it. The delivery driver seemed very nice.

Lovely tasty food & delivered right on time

The rice was not nice and the curry itself, average. The spring rolls were not good. I won’t deviate from our favourite China Village again.

Nice Thai restaurant with lovely traditional Thai cuisine at very reasonable prices. Friendly staff would definitely be going back soon!
