Chose to come here as was on holiday and this was rated one of the best chip shops locally… not sure what locals are used to eating but wow this food was vile, I’m almost certain I ended up with food poisoning from here as didn’t eat elsewhere that day! The fish was almost invisible it was that thin! (Basically ate a chunk of batter) scampi tasted under cooked and the size of the fish and portion of chips was not a regular size! Staff seemed miserable and come across as rude (snatched the bleeper out my young sons hand)

Excellant quality and massive value for money. The best F&C in town and one of the best I habe ever visited.

Food was very oily and tasted cheap. Portion sizes are a joke, very small through out all the dishes(scampi,haddock,chilli cheese bites, chips. The large haddock is what you’d get as a small fish in the midlands. The only thing that was a good size was the battered sausage and the home made tarta sauce. 3/5 for service and atmosphere.

Travelled from Scotland for a holiday trip and found out this was the only place that didn’t accept Scottish money, then had to pay with card and got the receipt and it said I paid with cash when I didn’t , I also got dirty looks from all the employees after I asked why they don’t accept Scottish notes as it’s the same as any other note, was just an uneasy atmosphere to be honest and I was not happy with the way I got treated

Check your order before leaving! We popped in yesterday and ordered our food to take away (to eat back at our accommodation). The food took 5-10 minutes to be prepared and we didn't think to check the bag. When we arrived back at our accommodation (took 10 minutes) we realised they hadn't given us the chips we'd paid for. We ordered 2 battered haddocks, regular chips, kids fish finger meal and kids sausage meal so the kids had a small portion of chips each but me and my husband had no chips! It would have been too much of a hassle for one of us to drive back plus our fish would have got cold. No phone number on the receipt or on Google to let them know. For what it's worth the fish was very tasty but it was very annoying not to have the chips.

The foods are great. Lots of choices not only fish and chips in the menu. Quick service. Nice place for one quick stop to buy nice foods when your hungry. This shop is for take out only.

Nice shop and nice people. Sadly the chips were oily and the batter on the fish was very hard. Bit disappointed.

Had the small haddock and chips, the lady serving was friendly and welcoming. Served quickly and like the beeper system so can wait outside for order. Benches outside to eat on with parasols over are great, can get a bit busy as expected for somewhere with good food. Only reason for the 4* and not 5* was the fish was warm but not hot. Everything else was perfect!

Just paid £13.95 for a fish platter, and the fish was old and smelt bad to the point my wife threw up after her first bite Simple instructions add salt and vinegar...clearly don't understand basic English....expensive rip off...stay well clear. This place needs shutting down before they kill someone. .Being Asian and big fish eaters we can tell when something is good or very bad....this was very bad 👎

Didn’t get to eat. Nasty woman behind the counter. Walked in the pouring rain to another fish and chip shop and had fabulous cod and chips in our car. Even if you do have good food you shouldn’t be rude madam.

Great chip shop and good value for money

Came across from the Midlands for a beach day on Father’s Day. After spending the day at Black Rock sands I thought I’d eat before heading home. So glad I did as the food was amazing, lovely quality and fresh, tasty with excellent service from the staff. Definitely will call in again.

Popped in after smelling the Fish an Chips from down the street. Visiting Porthmadog for the weekend. We got a small Hadock an chips for £5.95 with curry sauce and it was the best curry sauce I've had in ages 😋 lovely fish aswell can highly reccomend

We stopped by for a quick lunch. I chose a regular haddock and chips. I was tempted by the great value for money small haddock offer for £5.95 but I was starving! My girlfriend chose vegetable spring rolls and chips. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Staff were friendly, prices were very reasonable and the quality of the food was amazing. Couldn't recommend more!

Reliably the best fish and chips in the area

Staying locally at Haven and decided to pop here for fish and chips absolutely brilliant idea. Best fish and chips we've had. Food cooked fresh and tasted amazing, Fish was piping hot, non greasy and white and fluffy, chips very tasty, and the Irish curry sauce wow superb. Price more than reasonable for the portions. With very friendly staff and great food highly recommend a visit if your in the area.

Tiny portions of ok chips. Glad the bakers was open over the road to get some cobs to make up for the lack of chips.

Food was not at all hot ...pie chips and peas .. soggy chips and pie and peas cold ....and scampi and chips again soggy and cold scampi had no crispiness at all

Fabulous Haddock & chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. Well worth a detour if you are on the area of Porthmadog. Staff friendly and helpful. Out side seating aswell as indoor. Will definitely return.

Great lunchtime special. 3 choices of curry! Had what turned out to be the excellent Irish version. Both the fish and chips superb. Plus a small indoor seated area.

Best fish and chips in a long time

Very very disappointed. The large chips was enough to feed 1 person. We thought they had accidently given us a small but upon checking the reciept it was in fact a large. The large peas was small. Also the chips tasted like they had been sat there all day. Dry and tasteless. Very expensive for the amount of food recieved. Feel massively ripped off. Wasn't this bad when we last came. Won't be coming back.

Proper chippy. As a lover of chips this place is perfect. I grew up on proper chippy in the north. This is proper and was very very good.

Dirty environment they don’t clean tables between customers and the main lady was picking her nose whilst serving food into trays gloves or not if the glove goes in your nose you should not be using the same glove to serve food or picking nose whilst food in hand we shall not be returning to this germ fest

Heard about how nice the food was here, so we tried it & found it to be a real nice place, food was just right. Large portion was large. Not too much oil which is always good, and the chips was really tasty. Very friendly, will definitely go there again. But the down side is location, on the high street, not the best place for parking, high street always busy.

Absolutely amazing fish with cheesy chips. Beautiful taste. You can sit outside under cover. Few tables inside. Cooked fresh. Will definitely visit again next time we go to Porthmadog.

Stopped for fish and chips. 2 large freshly cooked haddock fillets, 1 reg chips and large mushy peas, all tasted so nice. Fish was of a generous size and white. Batter crisp and fresh. Had we any more room, we would have ordered more. We live 3 hours away, but if we wanted a day trip out with fish and chips, we would consider heading this way. You must try if nearby.

I don't normally like fish & chips, I suffer it every so often because my husband likes it. But..... This is the nicest fish & chips I've had in a long time, the batter on the fish was perfect. I cannot fault anything about the food we had, it was lovely.

Lovely 🐠, 🍟 and peas freshly fryed with a cup of 🍵 all for £11-50. Staff very friendly and pleasant. All served in a cardboard box with wooden knife and fork.

I wouldn't recommend using this shop but feel free to read on the reasons why. 1st visit - Food was really good, fresh of good quality and not skimpy on portions. The service was also fast. There wasn't an atmosphere as you have to queue outside of the shop. 2nd Visit - Today (8/1/24) and a totally different experience. Upon arrival at 735 the shop was busier than last time with around 5 people in the shop. All good as order's are been taken and the food is getting cooked and served or so we and at least 5 people people thought. As when we got to the till at 745 we were told they were closed 5 mins ago even though it said 8pm on the door and theirs people were behind us in the queue. They were also only serving what they had cooked so there's only chips left. The young lady (being kind) told us with youthful attitude (rude). I can see why others also said the same before. It's shocking to see in a place that's already lacking on choice, such service in accepted by the locals as I know local to me it would be shut in no time at all.

I had this place recommended to me as I'm not from the area. Went for Burger and Chips and it was, by far, the nicest burger I've ever had. Well worth the money I paid. Staff all seemed lovely as well.

The fish, pies and chips were cooked to perfection and were delicious, very reasonably priced and the staff were very efficient and friendly, will most certainly be eating there again.

I had fish and chips here with some freinds from America who had heard of Fish and chips but had never tried any The Fish and chips were superb and my American freinds are hooked on Fish and chips for life The service was also superb very friendly and helpful Well worth a visit

Great lunchtime fish,chips, and curry sauce meal. Cooked fresh and very yummy as well as being very good value. Halloween display was very , very good.

Probably the best fish and chips we've ever had, lovely staff and great choice of curry sauce.

Great prices for their meal deal and great options for my fish allergy husband. Shop has lovely Halloween decorations up currently, and their meal deals are varied and seasonal. Very welcoming, quick service out of main season and comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. What's not to like!

very bad experience staff were extremely rude to my friend

Very very fishy place. All staff members had a chip on their shoulder. One member of staff was very salty to my friend specifically. They were quite racist. My advice would be, if you're brown, better get outta town, if you're after a curry, then leave in a hurry.

Had to wait over 10 minutes for a basic order and wasn't busy. Fish was very greasy.

Always have the small fish and chips . You wait outside at busy times with a little buzzer that goes off when your orders completed if taking away. Always get excited when I get buzzed 😂

Visited this chip shop twice during our stay nearby, at the request of my daughters. Chips, fish, sausages, mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy all tasted great and we all enjoyed them.

Great fish & chips, gravy is exceptional! The mozzarella sticks are divine and the mushy peas are top notch! Been coming to Porthmadog for years and would say this is the best fish & chips here! Highly recommend!

Wasn't as good as the last time we were here. Got my order wrong initially, then corrected it was still wrong. Take away so when we realised we were a few miles away. Chips were soggy and cold. Shame as last time was brilliant

Fish and Chips average at best. They have an indoor eating area, but we arrived after 7pm, when it closes. I asked if they could make an exception but was told we could sit outside on the rain instead! Poor customer service!

After a week of aching to come here, we did so after a visit to the railway down the road. We ordered to take away. Fish and chips twice and kids meals. All hot and fresh upon arrival and consumed outside on the benches. Nearly had a free meal but luckily alerted the staff to the mistake and smiles all around. Staff friendly and kind. Safe to say, very impressed and would retun if we were local. Anyone who's nearby I definitely recommend.

Food was okay! Batter nice and crispy, but staff let this place down massively. Had a horrible experience today towards our family and also witnessed them being rude to a mother and her son demanding they stood outside in the cold and rain whilst waiting for food after spending a good amount of money. I understand establishments have rules in place but the way you speak to people and deliver the information go a long way! Will not be returning and would advise anyone going to brace your self to be spoke to like dirt.

Decent fish and chips, but expensive for the portion size and what you get.

The food was nice, prices were reasonable and the homemade tartar sauce was amazing. Staff were quite busy as quite a long queue was due to the warm weather in the summer holidays. Not a lot of room to wait for food but a device was provided to let you know when it was ready to collect meaning you could wander to a nearby shop which was nice. 👍 The seating area outside was filthy though.

Best fish and chips in the area by far

Really nice fish and chips. You know it's a good one when there's a queue outside. The fish and chips were near perfect and the condements such as mushy peas and tartar sauce were really good too. However it is a bit on the pricey side which is expected for the area.
