We recently moved to the Borders and were in Kelso doing our Saturday shopping. It was a sunny day so we sat outside. They are very dog friendly though with dogs allowed inside as well. Staff were welcoming. Coffee was good. We had a panini and a toasted bagel. Both very good. Bagels were excellent. There are some good lunch spots in Kelso but I am sure we will be here again.

Collapsed here after a good walk. Had really good sandwiches and wonderful Rhubarb Cake. Everything they brought was delicious. Two ladies absolutely rushed off their feet and never stopped while we were there but so friendly and helpful. Was sorry Piper the dog did not seem to be on duty today. Thoroughly recommended

A lovely cafe in the Market Square. Good coffee, friendly and helpful staff and some quality (if a bit expensive) gifts to browse whilst you wait. We visited twice; once just for coffee and the second time for lunch. The Morroccan tomato soup was delicious - served with fresh bread (or freshly-baked scone). I also enjoyed one of their Flora teas which tasted as good as it looked!

I looked at trip advisor and chose this cafe based on other reviews. Unfortunately my visit was disappointing. Over priced and tasteless lunch. I did eat my order but really it was because it was the only meal I was going to have for the rest of the day, not because it tasted good.

We've visited here a few times sometimes for lunch or just a coffee. Pleasant smallish space right on the main square in Kelso. Always good and so popped in today for a soup and sandwich lunch. Very tasty lentil and vegetables soup (if a tad salty) and we both had delicious cheese sandwiches - one brie, the other blue cheese - with interesting chutneys. Excellent coffee and large, yummy scones. Good Covid precautions in place. Sensible prices. Friendly and efficient service. Recommended.

Sorry for a late review but am new to this :) Me and my mother-in-law walking around beautiful Kelso and decided to go for a coffee somewhere when quiet and no to far from town centre. What a lovely gem we founded. Staff very friendly and assist with the order straight from to arrival. We only had a coffee and hot chocolate but what a lovely treat it was! Good job everyone involved! We will be back next time when in Kelso. Of forgot to say the place is dog friendly as we had ours with us!

We would normally take lunch in a different place when in Kelso - but it was closed. We came across the Cream Chimneys and were not disappointed. The efforts made to counter covid 19 were impressive. The range of food on offer was impressive - at very reasonable prices. The hot chocolate was superb - and the story behind it absolutely fascinating. In clearly difficult times the hosts took the time to chat to customers and were extremely personable and efficient. We are fairly frequent visitors to Kelso and have determined that, from here on in, T Cream Chimneys is our go to lunchtime venue. Absolutely superb and well worth a visit.

We have been here several times and the food is always of a good standard especially the soup. Piper the resident dog is very friendly and he does not bother you. Only one complaint and it is as much my fault as the young lady who took my money as it was much later in the day (Christmas Eve) when it dawned on me that I had been overcharged by at least £5. It won't put me off from visiting again.

We tried this place on our last morning as on other days it simply did not open early enough for us. A pity as we were staying in a guest house without breakfast nearby.Excellent range of cakes, good coffee and there was an excellent vibe about the place. Also there was reasonable room in the place and did not feel hemmed in. Took a little while to pay as it was busy - would suggest that this is the kind of place to come relax, chat and catch up with old friends, so if in a rush other options may be better. At the back there were craft items to purchase, not cheap but some very nice quality products.Just a pity it doesn't open a wee bit earlier.

Cute little cafe with lovely cakes, but the owners need to be a little stricter when it comes to other peoples dogs!Today we were in and one dog was barking quite nastily at any other dog coming in - causing one woman a big fright when walking in. Another lady brought her dog in and then gave it a raw cows bone with meat still attached to eat on the floor! Obviously this dog then got protective of its bone so growled at Piper the cafe owners dog...While I understand that it is the pet-owners responsibility to look after their own pets, I think the cafe owners when seeing something that isn't right, should say something!Piper - the cafe owners dog does have the tendency to get her tail in your coffee or cakes if you're sitting at the low table, so make sure you get one of the higher ones!

I needed somewhere to sit for a coffee in Kelso while my wife went shopping and dropped in here. It is small, but busy, with an excellent range of snacks and drinks on offer. After a long and wet day, we were keen to relax somewhere with good coffee and cake. The Cream Chimneys certainly was a good choice. The service was good, the coffee excellent and the cake delicious. We were shown to a table and then ignored for 10 - 15 minutes. We had only popped in for what we intended to be a quick coffee and cake before continuing our journey. A simple acknowledgement such as 'I'll be with you shortly' would have been appreciated, but instead the waitress/owner made it a priority to clear tables rather than take our order. The coffee and cake was fine when it eventually arrived, but by that time we just wanted to be on our way. Another negative point was the presence of a large resident dog stretched out on the floor creating a tripping hazard for anyone trying to go up the steps to the counter or the toilets. Not a place we'd return to.

We stopped here before our visit to Floors Castle which is five minutes away. Kelso is a lovely place, lots of free parking and this is a super cafe right in the town square. We were greeted by Piper the dog, a very friendly animal who visited all the customers in turn looking for treats. We only had a good cappuccino but the scones and cakes looked delicious. Friendly people and all round a great stop.
