It was with great joy we came across this chocolatier. It's almost impossible to buy good chocolates now, so I jumped at the chance. Although the shop wasn't due to open until 10, they were getting chairs and tables out so I asked if they could serve me with some chocolates, which they did. There was an amazing selection - hard to chose. The owner who served me was lovely. The chocolates are made on site and I have to say they were EXCELLENT! I highly recommend - not only for the chocs but for the lovely owners! Wish I lived nearer.

This place is a must if you are a lover of ice cream. I think that this must be the most delicious and creamy ice cream that I have ever tasted. The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Don't forget to pick up some homemade tablet or chocolates while you are there - both were fabulous.

Looked forward to a return to this lovely shop after being away for a few years to sample the incredible Orkney ice cream only to find that they no longer offer this and just offer a very mediocre ice cream instead. Very disappointing. Bring back the Scottish ice cream. Also return the seats so you could enjoy a coffee indoors during the winter months.

I'm afraid this was a total disappointment. After standing in a long queue for 15 minutes and leaving my dad in the abbey looking forward to his rum and raisin flavoured cone, I got my two chocolate dipped cones and tasted it with high expectations. Admittedly I am used to The Perfect Scoop in East Wemyss, which is unbeatable, but the ice cream and even the cone lacked any flavour whatsoever. I could have been eating a cheap vanilla ice cream from the Supermarket. If the previous reviewer is correct, b ring back the Orkney ice-cream I say! Tip - don't bother waiting in the queue!

Well - what a disappointment. This place has always been a 'must visit' in Melrose. Superb ice cream (Orkney) and always a pleasure. Sadly, the ice cream provider has changed. Visited 26 March 2022 for 1st time in a couple of years. Nothing like it used to be. Raspberry Ripple had very little ripple, and the vanilla lacked flavour. Blackberry sorbet was not recognisable as blackberry - just a blue-ish colour and little flavour. So sad.

While I am not sure why people visit places like this - I would certainly advise that you go here if you are anywhere within 200 miles of it !!! The coffee was good and the traybakes were just to die for. I had a Strawberry Rocky Road (if my memory serves - I've been in rapture ever since) and there simply are no words to describe how fabulous they are. We also bought sevel other items to take away with us - Pisco Sour Nibs, various treats suitable for vegans and Iron Brew Pastilles. If you don't know what Iron Brew is - you have led a very unfulfilled life and need to get out more - and we recommend Simply Delicious as a starting point. Although the staff were rushed off their feet when we were there - they were very friendly and welcoming, so give them a break, don't be in a hurry - you won't regret it. We will be back.

Bicycle fanatics, hikers and cultural visitors share the few tables outside, in front of the shop, sipping a hot drink and taking a break. I would not say you should travel thousands of mile to see this place, but once you are there, you should give it a try. (Mind you, my cup of tea and coconut-lemon cake were delicious. Have always visited here for the most delicious ice-cream ever. It used to be Graham's and has been there for a very long time. Well worth a visit

Delicious vanilla ice cream at a very reasonable price. It has a few tables outside and offers lovely cakes and drinks, unfortunately it wasn't a day for sitting outside as it was pouring with rain! The vanilla ice cream we had was very scrumptious, thank you.

Normally can't complain, but went in with my daughter today and witnessed a staff member wiping ice cream off the step then proceeded to serve me. When I requested she washed her hands was very brash as was her colleague. She went through the back and pretty sure she just pretened to wash them.

Have been going to this shop for years when it was Graham's and their ice cream is still amazing. There is a huge variety and all very scrumptious. They also sell the usual gifts to take home plus everything you need for a self catering holiday.

The first shop I've been in where you can try before you buy. I'm a fusspot about baking etc but this place hit the spot with the best tablet I've tasted (well, as good as my own!).Usually, shop tablet is rubbish but this was the real deal.Carrot cake was very good and their multi flavoured tiny meringues - ginger, lemon and chilli etc - were gorgeous.Ice cream looked pretty good but didn't try.A beautiful shop to be in and in a great location opposite the Abbey.

Just had a delicious lunch here with the best bowl of soup I think I've ever had. I can't recommend this place highly enough... Friendly welcome, quirky surroundings and all home made food, the bread included. Worth a visit to the town for the food alone! Thanks for having us... If we're in the area again, we'll be back!!!

Had been looking forward to my visit made specifically to try this place out. Noone else in except the numerous staff all talking away happily to each other. After looking at menu which looked fabulous I went up to order as none of staff looked vaguely interested in taking my order. No sit down we will come to you. I sat and waited and the place started to fill. 3 other tables came in and someone came from behind the counter to clear dirty dishes that had been on a table when I went in. Finally someone came to serve me and I commented on my wait to which I was given a story about the coffee machine not working which was why staff were chatting. Hmmmmn really. Then as of course luck would have it they were out of the very thing I was there to have. I will give them another chance another day as the menu was interesting but the service was shockingly bad especially if they then are having to tell people no coffee! Zero recognition of interaction with customers and I speak as someone with a long hospitality career. Great location great menu but lacking in customer connection.

We were staying next door at the Crown Inn to attend a wedding in the area however commencement of their lunch service was leaving us tight for time so we popped in here instead in the knowledge we’d get a decent snack. The stairs may be a challenge for the less able however it’s worth the effort as the produce served is very good. We both ordered quiche which was served with salad, coleslaw, crisps and a Balsamic dressing (£6.50). I’m not usually too keen on Balsamic however I used some from the small pot provided separately and it turned out to be fine. The quiche itself was very good. We had coffee (£3) and tea (£2.80) which were very good too but since we were a bit pushed for time we had tray bakes as takeaway - Millionaire Shortbread for my wife and a slice of Aero Mint for myself. Both priced at £3.50 they went down well with a coffee the following day when we were back home! Service on this occasion by the two young females serving was pleasant and efficient. Overall cost for lunch was a reasonable £25.80.
