There is a cosy bar for pre lunch drinks. We went to main restaurant for Sunday roast lunch. The food was very well prepared, good quality and tasty. The beef was slightly more cooked than I prefer but still moist and tender. The service was good and friendly. There were too few customers in the restaurant to create an animated atmosphere which is a shame as this is a gem that I had not previously known about.

The restaurant and bar were very busy and we had an apology for waiting, but to be honest we didn't think it was that long, but it was nice to have the acknowledgement. The food was really good and we all enjoyed it, mine could have been a bit hotter. The service was good even if we were there for ages, but the bar area was busy so we stayed in the restaurant for drinks.

Just been for Festive Afternoon Tea with my daughters, and it was wonderful. Beautifully presented, excellent service and lovely selection of sandwiches savouries and cakes. Lovely room and decor. First time here but will be back.

Great Sunday lunch. Highly recommended. It's a bit pricey though but well worth it. Staff are great and the restaurant is so clean looking

Excellent in all departments. Our room was spacious, beautifully furnished and recently renovated. We had dinner and breakfast and both were first class. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We thought the Craigie Hotel was super value and a real alternative to the over-priced hotels of Edinburgh.

A lovely friendly hotel. Great base for visiting "The Royal Yacht" and "The Falkirk Wheel". The only problem for us was dragging our !uggage up the very long stairs. Bar & restaurant !ovely food good. Set in love!y grounds would highly recommend for a short stay

Another lovely stay at the Craigie. Great room with a wonderful walk-in shower. Very good food in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner - breakfast is all freshly cooked. The dinner menu is varied and the quality is excellent. A lot of non-British stay here when visiting Edinburgh, and the friendly and helpful staff make the place welcoming.

Visited with my friend for lunch today. From the moment I arrived, staff were welcoming and friendly. Throughout meal they checked on us, but without being intrusive. We both had prawn scampi…which was the best I have ever tasted! Really big prawns in breadcrumbs rather than batter. Amazing! Served with chunky chips which were the perfect combination of crispy and soft centred. I wasn’t going to have a dessert but as soon as our waiter told us that cheesecake of the day was Biscoff, I was swayed. We were served a massive slice each (definitely could have shared!) and it was gorgeous. A lovely wee find and staff were a credit to the hotel. Food amazing!

What a stunning place, a recently renovated historic building, the room was characterful but extremely well appointed and comfortable. Staff were amazing and dinner and drinks in the beautiful garden were a real bonus

Had lunch in the beer garden for the first time and so impressed. Kids chicken nuggets and fries were very nice - chunks of chicken in a lovely crunchy coating. Crispy hot fries and garden peas. great quality, value and service in lovely settings.

We traveled from the Lake District for a meal with Family who live in Penicuik, to celebrate a birthday, and were not disappointed. The restaurant offers everything that you should expect from a Scottish country hotel. Hearty food cooked perfectly, prompt, friendly service, great wine, and a selection of whisky. Particularly impressed with the scollop starter. So many chefs seem to struggle to get scollops right, but mine were absolutely spot on. Nicely seared, but my knife still went through them like butter. Similar story with the fillet steak. Nice piece of meat, cooked exactly how I’d asked for it. What more could you want?! What’s more, at £29 for an 8oz fillet in todays climate, the Cragie is offering decent value for money! My partner and I work together in the same industry and take great pride in what we do. It shows that your team are of a similar mindset, and a credit to the hotel. We’ll certainly be back next time we’re visiting family!

we had dinner and the main course was a small portion of mash, 5 pieces of lamb rump, 10 fine french beans cooked al dente, not chef's greatest creation, however, the desserts were delicious! next morning's breakfast i had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, with brown toast, unremarkable , my wife opted for scrambl egg and bacon, the bacon was hard and dry, virtually defeated the knife, why cook bacon to death? the one cup of coffee we had was not replenished , should we have asked? all in all a forgetable experience, the room was excellent in contrast!

A small party in the restaurant was secondary to busy beer garden. Staff were pleasant but harassed by restaurant manager. Took 20 minutes to take drinks order, further 15 for food order, Staff were tasked to refill condiments and ketchup dispenser. This prep should v=be done prior to service. Food order mixed up and had to be changed,

We stayed for three nights bed and breakfast and chose to eat in the hotel for dinner twice. The hotel was very clean and smartly decorated. Our room was comfortable, spacious and had a lovely bathroom with excellent shower. Food for breakfast and dinner was really lovely. Every member of staff was friendly, polite and really good at their roles. We would recommend this hotel very highly.
