After spending an hour or so visiting the Ilkeston Heritage and Classic Vehicle Show which was held on the Market Place it was time for a spot of refreshment. Warm and friendly greeting from the person behind the bar, tables well laid out with good decoration, I love these kind of places, no gimmicks, people talking to each other and a a very good pint of beer.

Always a warm welcome , great craft beers and an unrivalled selection of hard to find bottles and cans.

Nice micro pub. Decent selection of beers. Bottle shop to the side of the bar with a wide range of beers but some of the prices are exceptionally high. £6+ for a can of beer might be ok in Scandinavia, they don’t have any potholes in their roads.

A great little pub with a good range of beers, and an extensive range of ciders too (rare for this sort of place). Very friendly knowledgeable staff. A great pub & they’ve got a decent bottle shop for take out too

I had no food but it looked good. Just started going in as I want to find a "local". Staff very friendly and beer very good. Good feeling in the pub. Will go again.

Brilliant potential with new owner. Willing to challenge what beers they should sell. We look forward to what they do in the future

We booked for Easter Sunday, even though staff pleasant, not impressed with food, we ordered off menu, the mix grill was overcooked, didn't have enough steak for 1 mix grill, the chicken strips etc we ordered were overcooked, sauce overheated in microwave, i think the Carvery is in wrong place as kitchen door right next to it and going for Carvery you block the door for staff in and out with other meals, think Mallard need to have a re think on altering Carvery stand plus if know going to be busy on a Sunday either stick to a Carvery, not off menu, so you can concentrate on one thing . Plus I had asked for easy access to loo for my dad who has trouble walking and stuck us furthest away , without ease to loo ,
