Everything would have been perfect except for the 'triple cooked chips' being over cooked to our liking. The haddock & batter were delicious though. Staff were warm & welcoming & the place was spotless (including the toilets) Meals are a little expensive normally but of good quality & as we went on a 40% off day we appreciated the extra value.

Went to the coy carp around 6.30 on Friday evening. Not too many people in there and got a table straight away. Ordered drinks, which arrived quickly. Ordered margarita pizza and duck pizza , both of which arrived fairly soon after ordering. After eating s few slices of the margarita, I realised that it tasted like garlic bread. The pizza had been made on top of a pizza garlic bread. I should have just ordered a cheesy garlic bread, it would have been much cheaper. Food not to the quality expected for the price.

Outdoor area very dirty, massive cobwebs everywhere, empty glasses left on tables along with dirty ashtrays, cigarette butts on the floor, whole area in desperate need of a good sweep and wash. Management need to get outside and look. I selected the burger which was nice my partner ordered the Moroccan chicken skewer which was overcooked and very dry so much so it all crumbled and fell apart when he tried to get it off the skewer. Not sure if the place has new management but it’s going downhill unfortunately

Called in late afternoon on bank holiday Monday. Quickly shown to a table, ordered drinks and three main courses that consisted of 2x fishcakes and 1 pork belly. Drinks were served, we then waited an hour and 15 minutes, in that time no one came back to see if we were okay, wanted anymore drinks, or to disclaim that the food was slightly delayed but coming soon … for all we knew we’d just been forgotten. We were literally on the point of leaving when we were served our meals. The fishcakes were embarrassing, they were flat and tasteless, served with hard overcooked potatoes. Pork belly was not great either. Very overpriced for disappointing food and customer service. Would not recommend or return.

Reserved a table for 5 + a toddler. We were seated at an extremely small table which would have been a squeeze for four people. Despite plenty of empty tables, we were told there was nothing they could do as they wouldn't seat us at a table for 8 and wouldn't put tables together. We ended up having to move outside as it was the only way we would be able to fit everyone's plate on the table. When the food did arrive it was subpar. The chips were undercooked and in a £17.25 fish and chips there was 16 chips. Additionally, the food for part of our party took so long (30 minutes after everyone else's) that they had to go inside and ask for it and ended up bringing it to the table themself.

We were treated to our first visit to this establishment. And not disappointed .Car park is very large and can accommodate many vehicles. As long as you enter your number plate at reception, you will not pick up a fine. Warm welcome, given a table in a bay window in the restuaran . Enough space for 4. Hostess were welcoming too, we weren’t rushed in ordering. Didn’t have to wait too long for our drinks and having ordered our food, it was delivered to our table on warm plates. Food was yum-my. It made a change to go somewhere, where you weren't competing to hear one another. A very nice experience and should we venture your way again, we'll sure to visit again.

Such a pretty pub but yet again the food was disappointing. Salad was basically a pile of lettuce with 2 tiny onion rings and a miniscule portion of chopped up tinned asparagus. No dressing. Fish finger sandwich tasteless with cheap fish and batter. More batter than fish. The waiter asked if all was OK and when I said no he just walked off. Such a shame they can't get the food right 😕

We have been here a few times and it's been OK but this time it was over priced and the portions were small. We were a party of 8 on a Sunday evening and I speak just for myself. I chose the tomato arancini for my starter. This was £7.95. There were 3 small rice balls , not any hint of tomato, these were on a smear of pink puree which I guess was the beetroot. My main course, the green and grain salad cost £14.95. This basically was a bowl of various leaves with some couscous, some sliced pimento, about about 4 cubes of butternut squash. There no pomegranate seeds (as per the menu) . There really was no flavour to this at all.it was all very bland. When you are with a party of friends it does not seem appropriate to start complaining at the table while others are eating which is why I said nothing at the time. Others in my party clearly made better choices, but then they are meat eaters, I am not, hence I found the menu choices very limited.

I’ve just been for lunch with my family, whilst some of the meal was fine there were parts in which were disappointing. Firstly there were a few staff who weren’t very friendly and just seemed sad to be there. We ordered our food and a whole dinner was left out. It was made in the end and the person who realised was very apologetic. I am a vegan through allergy reasons and what I ordered the starter was chewy and felt like rubber and it was so small. The vegan starter I’m referring to. The mushroom burger I was told didn’t have vegan cheese, the chips I was told are all cooked in the same frier which means there are no vegan or vegetarian chips, this isn’t specified anywhere which is against the food standards agency. There should be somewhere written down, you can’t advertise a vegan burger with chips if the chips are cooked in the same as the meat ones. Our starter plates were not cleared from the table when our mains came also. It felt like a very impersonal experience and since we had to sit in the downstairs dinning room it felt as though we were just left out. I can understand going to the bar to order but it would have been nice for someone to come over and ask how we were. All in all it was a rather disappointing Sunday lunch which has left us not very eager to rush back anytime soon.

Good food, staff seem friendly enough. My big issue is the cleanliness. If you sit outside there is hundreds of spiders webs so loads of spiders crawling down webs above your food. If you look up at the big sun umbrellas/ under cover areas they are covered in webs and spiders. The lights it the garden are covered in spider webs. This isn’t just a few forming over night, this is months and months of lack of cleanliness. Such a shame as the food is good but they really need to get on top of cleaning both inside and out. Sweep the undercover areas so webs get cleaned away. Clean tables and seats inside so there isn’t crumbs from the people before, When charging £16.50 a skewer I would expect a nice environment to eat it in. It’s a shame as we like the food but put off returning.

This was our first visit to the Coy Carp and we really enjoyed our dinner. The pub is in a lovely setting and we were seated in the restaurant area. The starter of mushrooms on toast was nicely presented and very tasty and our mains were delicious (lamb skewer and prawn skewer), with imaginative sides (fab chips). The service was friendly and efficient and we love the choice of coffee and mini-puds (better than sharing a dessert). Inside reminded us of Scotsbridge Mill in Rickmansworth in its heyday but this is more spacious and works as well for couples as it would for small groups. We’ll definitely be back.

You know it's one of those places you say "why didn't I come here before" when it's so near my house.Located just off the M25 with stunning views and even a running river by it's a side, you enter the property by a small bridge, which I think is a great touch, car parking is ample and well managed (you just enter your reg plate number)I booked ahead via the website (which seemed a sensible thing to do in the current climate) and the super-smiley and funny lady knew who I was and my booking time, I was seated within seconds and I was served by "Emmy" who gave me drinks service to begin with, just after I got settled, at the end we gave her a big tip as we felt the service was good, friendly, quick and not bothersome.Once my friend arrived, we checked out the menu; ordered and the food came in just the right amount of time after it was placed, we were seated downstairs and it was spacious, a good temperature and you could chat without needing to shout over other tables, I just wish the weather was better so we could sit outside (but that isn't the pubs fault)If you just want drinks with friends or a proper meal (make sure you book ahead due to current climate) definitely check out this place, it's easy to find, has awesome service (great job Emmy) and it's a pretty little place to visit with your mates, family or friends.I know some of you may ask for my now infamous TripAdvisor WiFi test, well for 3 UK users, you can get stupid fast 5G indoors, so no need for it, my signal was amazing and fast, so even more reasons to visit....so go check out the Coy Carp!

Myself and 3 friends were hoping to sit outside the Coy Carp, Harefield as they have seating and heaters, because of covid, however the manager told us they were not serving food outside, not even just coffee and would not have his waitresses going in and out in the cold. There’s nothing worse than being rushed to finish, or waiting for 45 minutes between courses. With its beautiful surroundings, great management and fabulous food, it’s somewhere would recommend to anyone.

Not been for over two years as we were very disappointed last time with all aspects of service and the place looked run down and dirty. Looks like its under new management as very clean and welcoming. They now have a host who looks after you and goes over all covid restrictions which made us feel safe. The staff were v nice and chatty food was lovely we would recommend for anyone to go.I would book as it is so much busier than we remember it to be.

Been here before but due to family issues not been here for a while. What a change. No steak or gammon. Used go get a steak here and was very good. I was so surprised how empty the place was on a Friday night. We were ushered into the bar and not taken into the restaurant side which I think was shut. The food was mediocre at best. We had three different meals and none were anything to write home about. Will not come back and will not recommend. Still the spiders looked well fed. Unfortunately we were not.

My wife and I booked a table for 6.45pm. We went there for their Duck salad which is one of our favourites. We were seated and given our menu’s. When the waitress came we were informed that two of the three ‘specials’ were unavailable and also there were no salads! We ordered their House Burger with extra Jalapeños. The Burgers were lukewarm unfortunately but still tasty. We then chose our deserts, my wife wanting the coffee and mini pudding (Crumble). When our order was taken we were told that two of the three little pudding were unavailable so she had ice cream instead. Once we finished our desserts we waited ages for our bill. When we eventually caught the waitress she brought the bill over and disappeared again. We were being charged for Four main meals instead of our two. After waiting ages again for the waitress I had to go and find her to explain the problem. It was resolved quickly to their credit. We were just dismayed that about a third of their Dinner menu was unavailable.

My husband and I had eaten here 3 weeks ago and knew it would be the perfect place to celebrate the birth of our God son. Plus having missed both of our friends birthdays during lockdown gave us even more reason to celebrate. It was fantastic. Bobbie the waitress even remembered us which made the perfect lunch even more special. Thank you again to all the staff at The Coy Carp

Very disappointed with the food and service at this place.Visited as Lockdown was easing with social distancing. They had a nice outside area which was fully booked. The service was very mediocre.I had the salmon which was very bland as where the potatoes. My partner asked for his steak to be medium rare, it was very well done; I could smell how well done it was from across the table. The Cheesecake was like a slice of supermarket cheesecake and not a very good one.I will give it the benefit of the doubt due to covid and will visit again at some point.

I’ve been here twice. First time I went I got a salad which was good. Second time I came back with the family and we all had a 2-3 course meal. The food is nothing special, I’d happily never eat there again but the view over the pond is sweet. They tried to charge us for a side we’d ordered but never arrived. But they quickly rectified this when we said something. The man at the ‘front desk’ wasn’t very receptive to our feedback about the pub not being registered for track and trace on the website of the pub chain. Even though it is accessible of the app it wasn’t on the website. All other staff were lovely- especially the waitresses. The chips were good but the fish and the sticky toffee pudding was disappointing.

Friendly staff, good food and beer and a calm atmosphere made this a brilliant first meal out after lock-down and enabled us to relax and enjoy normality again. Many thanks.

Came across the Coy Carp by chance while cycling the canal and so glad we stopped in for refreshments. Stunning location, great food and professional service. This pub takes the safety and well-being of their guests and staff really seriously, so in the current COVID situation it was great to see all the measures they had put in place, and they were even able to accommodate walk ins like us. Can't wait to go back.

Visited here with some friends for a Sunday roast. The food was delicious, very well cooked and very reasonably priced. We loved it. Even though the “stiffy” toffee pudding wasn’t part of the service! The gentleman who served us willUnderstand! The service was brilliant, I can’t fault it. Friendly and good humoured. We will definitely be back. Loved it!

We thought we’d go to the coy carp after not visiting for 2 years so eat out to help out was a good reason. The staff were friendly enough but the food was not worth the money. If we had not had had £18 taken off our meal without alcohol would have been nearly £50 . My dinner looked like it had been sitting there all day and had shrivelled up and was cold. My pudding came with ice cream and was just about melted by the time it reached the table and was still charged 50p for it! My husband asked for ice cream with his and got custard with a skin on top and again was charged 50p for ice cream! Was such a shame as we’ve not eaten out for ages and was so looking forward to having a treat. Like I said staff were friendly enough but food was lacking.

On my first visit out to a pub since lockdown ended I wanted to have a bite to eat with my family at the coy carp. Maybe it was my fault, but I dont understand how anything is working anymore. We popped in and asked for a table when the gentleman on the door, presumably the manager, abruptly and rudly said there was none. I asked if another time was more convenient but he was so rude I did not want to return there. What a lovely first visit out. If you want to be spoken to like rubbish then pop down , if not avoid at all cost .

We made stop at this pub for a break as we were on a road trip. The staff are extremely rude and the service was all but friendly. The premises are surrounded by some canal which is particularly smelly. There are venues in the area that are much better and more welcoming.

During eat out to help out we decided to try a different eatery every week and the only criteria was, somewhere we’d never been to before. We scored the jackpot on week one. The Coy Carp is in a beautiful quiet setting, the staff were very welcoming and friendly and very efficient. The new procedures were all there if you looked but were very unobtrusive, the staff were quietly cleaning away all the time. The food was excellent and plenty of choice on the menu. We left feeling like things were starting to feel normal again due to the brilliant way the Coy Carp is handling the new rules. Definately one to put on the list for regular visits. Well done Coy Carp And thanks to all the staff for a lovely evening.

I used to love eating at the Coy Carp - lovely pub, beautifully situated by the canal - but had avoided it in the last 2 years as on my last 3 visits we had to wait so so long for our food.Last week a friend of mine alerted me to the fact that the Coy Carp has a new manager - who actually started just before lock down - and it was a transformed pub. So I booked a table for lunch today & my husband & I cycled there. We were greeted on arrival by Martin - the new manager - and shown to our table on the terrace. Straight away a lovely young waitress came to take our drinks order. Drinks arrived very quickly - our order was taken - and our food arrived within 10 minutes. Our fish & chips was delicious. We had mini desserts & coffees, which again arrived very promptly. Martin & his team of staff have turned the place around. What a pleasure it was to lunch at the Coy Carp. Can't wait to return.

We visited last Sunday for my granddaughters 12th birthday. It was our second visit as my daughter and I ate their the Saturday before.Excellent service from Bobbie who had served us the week before. She was attentive, polite and was a credit to the company. In fact all the staff are wonderful and make the restaurant great to visit. My granddaughters loved it......high praise indeed as they are both fussy eaters. They have both asked when we are going back. Will have to force ourselves to go again!!!! Lol.

Saturday afternoon booking with our 6 year old daughter. All guidance for Covid was followed and the place was clean and well presented. Always nice to be greeted at the door without waiting around. Bookings are a must however if there is space outside you can make the choice on arrival, Otherwise the table is allocated for you. They’ve worked hard to ensure this place has opened with the positive approach. All social distances were adhered to and our table and surroundings were spotless. Plenty of hand sanitiser everywhere. Staff very attentive and ensured we were served In A timely manner. No long waits for food , and no looking around for a member of staff. They ensured we had everything we needed. Plus they were Polite and happy staff. Makes all the difference. The food was spot on , my daughters pizza and chips was fresh and she loved it. Our fish and chips was also a great and a great portion size. You’ll not be disappointment and at a great price too. Menu is limited for now however but enough to choose from. We will return to this venue for sure.

This previously unloved pub is under new management and it tells. We sat at an outside table overlooking the water. The service was spot on and the the food is very good and fairly priced. The interior of the pub is also lovely. The new landlord has really made an effort. All the protocols for Covid were adhered to - tables spaced out, plenty of hand sanitiser etc. We will definitely go back.
