Food was good with a lot to choose from.

Service is good and the are staff polite and pleasant. The food is very good. Nice relaxing atmosphere.

This is a top class, country pub with lots of parking spaces. There's plenty of room, both inside and out, and - in certain areas - it's dog-friendly. Staff were polite, professional & attentive, and the variety of dishes was excellent. Highly recommended.

Joe was lovely, helpful, charming and a polite young man. Came for a meal with my friend and had a great time. Josh, Natalia and Trudi were great as well.

Beautiful gastro pub inside and out. Service was a little slower than expected however the quality of food that was produced justified this. The team were very friendly and welcoming. My order came out wrong but they corrected it so that was good and I really enjoyed the lamb rump. It was a generous portion. The dessert selection was great too!

Service was incredibly slow, at there this Sunday (04/05/25) and every single person on my table got their food fairly quickly, even the person that ordered the same as me. No staff walking around outside so eventually asked one where my food was, they claimed part of my order was already given to me (slow cooked beef croquettes) - it wasn’t. He said he would see where it was. Eventually the pizza and chips turned up about 50 minutes after I ordered, then I asked to cancel the beef croquettes and they said they’d be a minute more. So I waited. The beef croquettes were honestly the worst thing I’ve ever tasted. They’re not slow cooked, they’re a liquid mush with the consistency of tuna. 3 people I was with tried them and agreed they were horrific. The Diablo pizza was good but the poor service and the terrible sides put me off. Clearly reheated quickly and poorly. If you’re eating there don’t use the app to order because you tip upfront, so if you have horrific service it’s too late, there’s no incentive there. Edit: to clarify this wasn’t a delay because they were busy. Multiple tables came in after us and were served, people on my table that ordered the same items were also served. The issue is that the starters were forgotten about then I had to chase them. Everyone of my table had finished watching before I had been served, multiple other tables had finished eating, paid and left before I was served.

Amazing roast. Best we've had in a long time. Highly recommended. Joe & Ewan were top notch. Really attentive throughout our time there.

Fantastic quality of food, nice ambience and great experience

I came here last week with my wife and 3 kids. The food was simply put, amazing. There was a lovely atmosphere in the pub, mainly due to some of the amazing staff that work here, one young lady, I believe her name was Alice, made us all feel so catered for. We will definitely be returning here in the near future.

Absolutely loved my time here! The venue itself is lovely and charming with loads of character, it feels very cosy and welcoming. I am a vegetarian myself so I was delighted with the menu, there was a good few options and the food was delicious! I had the glazed goats cheese to start with the halloumi burger main and both were divine. I also tried one of my friends onion rings and they were sooooo tasty! The toffee creme brûlée is now one of my favourite desserts. Well done to the chefs!! The service throughout my time in Cowper Arms Hertford was brilliant. I've worked in hospitality myself and I have to say everyone was very attentive and friendly. We had a drink in the bar both before and after our meal and I have to say the tall guy with the moustache and brown hair (I think his name was Jamie) stood out to me. He was really charming and friendly. We chatted about the fact we're both vegetarian and he whipped me up a delicious non alcoholic cocktail! We really had a laugh with him. He made us feel very welcome and I look forward to returning and chatting to him again. Great establishment, keep up the good work :)

Had a lovely roast on a Sunday evening. Food excellent, atmosphere lovely and service was brilliant … from front of house … and especially Dylan who looked after us and was fabulous.

I visited in April with some of my friends, and was served by Laura. The service was great, and Laura was very attentive and friendly. We were recommended an Elderflower Sherbet drink which was lovely. Will definitely return!

Had a lovely meal at the Cowper Arms for my birthday meal. Our server Jamie was so lovely and super attentive. He mentioned the chef Seb who made us all wonderful meals. Will definitely be returning !

Wonderful pizza main and crumble for desert. Anybody who does crumble these days already has a head start! Excellent food, high calibre service, relaxed, professional and great ambience.

Felt so welcomed as soon as I walked in to the bar. The tall guy at the bar, who's name i think.. is Jamie? He had such a warm and positivity energy about him. He had great recommendations on the wine selection, but I'm so glad I skipped the wine and went for a cocktail, because that drink tasted divine!! Very friendly young man, who provided a great service whilst we sat and waited for our table. Food was great, but the cocktail jamie made was the highlight.

Family lunch for 12 including 2 children. Everybody had a really good time. The food was lovely and the service from Joe was excellent. After the meal we went outside for a further drink in the beer garden in the afternoon sun which made for a great ending to our visit.

Family and friends meal this afternoon. Very busy bank holiday service, but very efficient service from Joe and the food was served promptly. Everyone enjoyed the lunch and the whole visit was excellent.

Came to the Cowper Arms last Sunday, we had the roast beef and the lamb special that our server Issy suggested to us. Food was amazing, service was even better. Will definitely be back.

Delicious!!! We can't wait to visit again! I had the duo of pork and OMG 💕 Pork belly AND pork fillet... And the apple ketchup was inspired! My partner had the buttermilk chicken burger, and wouldn't stop talking about how juicy it was the whole drive home. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Bonus points for being dog friendly too! 🐾 The Cowper Arms comfy seats and a warm cosy feel was exactly what we needed after a long day. See you very soon!

Back here for a birthday meal last night. Fantastic friendly service, from our waitress (forgot her name) and Dylan. Food was excellent. I had the squid starter and then fish and chips. Others had scallops and then sea bass which was cooked to perfection. Finished off with a good cheese selection and a nice glass of red. Advise booking at weekends as it was pretty busy. Got to meet the chef! Wanted to say thank you for the quality of cooking.

Amazing meal for Mother’s Day, the restaurant was so busy but we didn’t wait long for three courses and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend the Camembert and the Sunday roast! We can’t wait to come back :)

Visited for Sunday lunch. Even though it was very busy for Mother’s Day the service was still its usual great service. Joe our waiter was great and knowledgeable of the menu. I had the mushrooms in Cheddar Sauce followed by the double beef and finished with the sticky toffee pudding. My wife had king prawns to start and beef for the main with crumble to finish. Yorkshire puddings are great. Always great whenever we visit.

Lovely pub with great decor and open fires. The service was a bit slow but it was busy. The food was tasty although the vegetarian meals were cold so had to send them back. The team couldn't apologise more, and brought them back piping hot. The desserts were good too. Good, friendly team that get things right.

We visited The Cowper Arms last Sunday around 4pm! Pub was very busy which is great to see but we were seated and served straight away. Food was quick, delicious and hot! We both had a roast - highly recommend. We were served by Joe who was extremely polite and well versed on the menu and drinks available! Great service!

Had 4 different Sunday lunch mains. 2 sharers & 2 individual meals. Food all arrived at the same time. All nice and hot. The staff were very attentive. Value for money and will definitely come again. Oh and we hadn't booked but due to the great weather we ate outside. Thoroughly recommend.

I went here today had a roast beef dinner, the beef was full of fat, the roast potatoes was hard like they had been re-cooked. It wasn’t a cheap meal , so was very disappointed by the standard. The veg was the only thing that was nice on the plate. I will NOT be returning.

A great spot to visit. A cosy pub with lovely fires which were kept topped up throughout the evening by the friendly team. We tried pork belly with scallops and the special chicken pie which were delicious. Trio of mini desserts was perfect for two to share. Cant wait to come back.

Fabulous service as always. So patient and brilliant with our requests, including dietary requirements. They even indulged us some sentimentalities because it was our anniversary. Went out for a business lunch, went for the valentine special menu which included a chateaubriand which seemed a great deal could have had champagne but went for the nice red bottle. Had the scallops which are always good here, and change the dish regularly so always done different ways. If you have not booked anything for valentine's would go for this doing all week and is great value. The visit was made that little bit special with the service we received from Natalia, looking forward to our next visit

Had Sunday lunch with the family at the The Cowper Arms. The atmosphere was brilliant, staff working so hard, roasts fantastic and the fish special, monkfish, perfectly cooked and delicious.
