Came here for a few drinks. Nice to see you can order at the bar 🥳 I’ll be visiting a lot from now on.

Very disappointed with the main course, parts of my food was cold, and my grandchildren’s pizza certainly did not look appertizing, it was our first restaurant trip since COVID started, and we were celebrating my birthday, so yes very disappointed. On a positive note, my grandchildren loved their brownie and ice cream, and my crumble was delicious. The staff were all very nice and extremely helpful.

It was such a lovely pub with great food. The manager and the staff were so nice and friendly. Me and my friend loved everything about this pub. Highly recommended

Came here on a random Sunday my boyfriend and I fancied a roast so had a look on Google to find a nice one last minute and chose this place! Atmosphere was warm, friendly and welcoming from the moment we stepped in and the staff were so smart and well presented! They were chatty and friendly without being intrusive to the table (this can be really hard to do) and the food speaks for itself! Best Sunday roast I’ve had from anywhere except my Mum’s! Thank you, we’ll definitely be recommending and returning!

Warm welcoming from Josh and superb service from Trudie! We sat in the bar area just by the window and it was lovely . COVID procedures well in place and all seemed so organised! Well done Cowper for keeping us safe and entertained!!

Visited at lunchtime for a catchup meal with a friend. I had 2 starters brie and lamb koftas. My friend chose the meze flatbread. All dishes were tasty and portion size was good. Compliments to the kitchen team. Our server was Kelly, she was friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble.

Would recommend! Staff were very welcoming and service was quick, food was great, give it a go if you're in the area :)

My wife and I went for Sunday lunch. Our chosen beef and trio of meat roasts where delicious. Desserts equally as yummy. We were met with a warm, informative welcome and our server, Ellie, was bubbly and knowledgeable. Can't wait to return. Thank you Cowper.

5 out of 5! I met with my friends and had a lovely lunch. I had the sea bass and my friend had a pizza. Finished off with a sticky toffee pudding and lattes. Was served by a lady, think her name was Sam, she made us feel very welcomed.

Came on a first date here, was actually stood up but the manager was so nice and accommodating. He made sure I felt comfortable and for this alone I will be back. Thanks Josh ;-)

We visited for Sunday lunch - the portions were great and all the food was fresh and tasty. Mini dessert crumble went down well with a lovely coffee. Service was fab too

Popped in after a long drive from Newcastle after protesting for just myself. The lady that served me (Mandy I believe) was an absolute delight throughout. Top notch service, might even write her a card saying thank you. Food was delicious too. 10/10

Have been to this restaurant a couple of times before and always been impressed with the service and food. Unfortunately our last experience means we won't be back. Incredibly long waits for food and drink (maybe an app will help) and food served cold. 1/5 meals ok (pizza) but dry chicken, frozen cod, cold scallops and overpriced lamb. Such a shame. Could be amazing given location and decor, get the food right please and serve hot !

I don’t usually leave reviews but this is the first place I’ve been in a while and I was really impressed with the Covid procedures. Also helped that the food was great and the service was friendly. Definitely worth the babysitter. Cant wait for another girls night!

Incredibly disappointing. Wine was corned and only had one other alternative hulled which wasn’t great . Ordered a salad with halloumi which was dry, cold and shrivelled and looked as though it had been left on the counter over night. Complete waste of money

We booked a table on Fathers Day and this was our first visit to this pub. It was recommended to us as we were told the food was good. In all honestly the food was super, best we have had in any Hertfordshire pub. Hats off to the chef as the roast beef was flavoursome and bountiful. Out waitress was also super. Our only complaint was the table we were given. I’m not sure if our booking name have away that we were not from the area, but on arrival we were given a table next to the thoroughfare for the exit doors and between the bar. The table was for 6 even though we were a table for 4. It wasn’t a quiet or cosy spot. Next time we will book in the name of Smith to be sure of a nice welcome and table.

What a lovely experience. I have 3 intolerances and eating out can be an absolute nightmare and for most of the time I am made to feel like a fussy old woman. But not here... I had mains and desert, all gluten, dairy and sulphite free!! What I loved the most was that I didn’t have to just have my go to steak and chips! Nothing was too much trouble for our waiter either.Fantastic!!They had an allergens menu where it even told me what I could have instead of trying to work it out myself. Lovely evening all round and lovely experience.

The service was great but the food was poor.I’ve had some nice meals here over the years but this time the food was very disappointing.Not sure if there is a new chef but the food was typical English pub food..... crap!

We had met friends here a couple of years ago as it was a convenient location for us all and it had been a delightful occasion, which we wanted to replicate. Even with COVID rules in place, it was a disappointment. We waited for some time in a queue to book in (which is a sign of the times I appreciate). We were shown to our table but then had a long wait for drink order to be taken. The few staff that were on duty were obviously rushed off there feet and all doing different jobs at different times. My duck parfait was good but the bread with it was hard and dry. My fish cakes had a tasty salmon and prawn filling but coating was dry (a bit of a theme unfortunately). My husbands belly pork, was nice but the crackling with it was hard and inedible. My “mixed Berry crumble” had no berries but was apple! It was delicious though. Of course we could have mentioned it to the staff but felt they were already under some pressure so didn’t want to add to that., but we will not be returning unfortunately.

Food was quick to come out and the waitress Ellie new the menu and had a detailed knowledge of wines.

Even though busy, Ellie was attentive and gave brilliant service .Food was amazing, will be booking again very shortly.

We ate here on a Sunday as a group of 6 to celebrate a birthday. It was a mixed experience. My son’s triple roast was excellent and my father in law said his Sea Bass was tasty and was a good sized portion.At £7.25 for four small pieces, the salt and pepper squid was very expensive. Similarly the Black Forest melting bomb had only a few cherries and would have been better served in a bowl than on a plate. £8.50 for essentially a plate of melted chocolate was overpriced. Disappointingly the rum baba was only a sponge pudding with cherry sauce. The waiter did remove this from the bill. My husband’s burger was okay but nothing special. The young man serving us was friendly and helpful.Overall it was a pleasant family meal out post lockdown but as I don’t consider it good value for money we won’t be returning any time soon.

Quintessential country pub. Great quality food and pleasant setting just off Cole Green Way. Cycle here from Hertford or Welwyn Garden City for a pub lunch.

Came out for dinner tonight and the service and atmosphere was fantastic. The drinks were perfect on a hot day!

Lovely to get out for the first time since restrictions were lifted and this was the meal I’d been waiting for. Both me and my mum loved the roast dinner and the fact they were following the Covid rules so precisely really alleviated her concerns for safety. Can’t wait to come back!

Wow so glad to be able to get a Roast dinner out again and they didn’t disappoint! Amazing food, friendly staff, excellent service and all round a very good experience. We will 100% be booking in again soon if you’re worried about eating out since COVID please don’t here so welcoming, helpful and safe with all the practices still in place.

If you haven’t had a roast here then you need to book now ! Staff were amazing and the food came out quicker than we thought! Definitely recommend the chicken roast and the Black Forest melting bomb was incredible! Cannot wait to come back again!!

Came in tonight for a meal and drinks with friends for the first time in months and can honestly say it was as good as I was hoping. The staff were very attentive and seemed very happy to be back at work and the food was delicious. Already booked in for the next girls night out...can’t wait!

Legit expected bad things seeing as all hospitality staff haven’t worked for 6 months so went in with low expectations. How wrong I was, it’s like they’ve been serving ghosts all winter, just as good as ever. Superstars, will come again of course

We were made very welcome by the staff and the current safety requirements were kindly and simply explained. Keely, our waitress looked after us very well and could not have done more to make our visit enjoyable. The food and drinks were excellent.

Nice pre Christmas lunch.As Herts is in Tier 2, so went out for a “substantial meal” - lunch with my wife. Booking on line was simple and lots of free slots. All the expended COVID measures in place, including the tables being well spaced. A few customers also having lunch. Service friendly as normal and nice pace - not to fast or too slow.We had lunch off the all day menu, but a range of festivals options available. The servings met the “substantial” rules by some margin (but needed to finish the pork belly).We will be back, with friends when allowed.

Brilliant meal with excellent service.This has fast become our favourite go to place for family meals. Our children are catered for brilliantly and myself and my wife also thoroughly enjoy our meals. Alex especially provides brilliant service. We are back on Saturday next week for brunch with our daughters

Really enjoyed my meal and the service levels were excellent, a young male manager made us feel welcome in the venue upon greeting us and the waitress was polite and knowledgeable. I was encouraged by seeing all staff adhering to practices that are in place to stop the spread of corona with us being just out of lockdown, this reassures me that the safety of all customers is regarded as paramount by the management team.

Had a lovely meal this evening, could not fault anything. Food was great quality. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely first evening out in a while.

Bought my parents to this nice pub that is tucked away for Sunday lunch. After being shown to our table there was a bit of a wait to have our orders taken. The roasts were all fine except a little on the luke warm side but we would definitely return.

A wonderful friendly place to visit staff amazing especially Andi who had a lovely infectious happy manner the choice on the menu and the quality of the food would thoroughly recommend a visit.

We visited here for an impromptu lunch were greeted warmly by all the staff. The food was of a very high standard - the fish and chips, linguini and burgers all tasted amazing. Finished with a mini dessert and coffee which had various interesting options. The young waitress who served us was friendly and efficient always asking if we would like another drink etc and was constantly smiling (under her mask)! We will be back soon.

We had a lovely meal, really nice pizza for the kids, a burger and a pie. Family friendly and dog friendly. Really great service from our waitress Milly who was superb. Thank you, will be back.

This was my second visit and I’m glad I came, excellent service from the entire team alongside a delightful meal. The manager on service, a young male who’s name I didn’t catch, was particularly knowledgeable and very engaging.

Thought we’d try the Cowper as it’s localBut we haven’t been in years. Came for a Sunday roast it was mind blowing; portion size, presentation and taste! Bottomless gravy a very big bonus! All the staff were lovely and attentive. Greeted at the door by a very friendly and welcoming manager who took us over to our table. 100% will be returning and recommending to friends and family!

We visit here for lunch reasonably regularly, so I have tried quite a lot from the menu and have never been disappointed, but this was our first time for an early evening table to accommodate leaving at 10pm!What a great meal with the fillet steak being fab-u-lous!! Service was excellent from a very attentive Ellie, who you could tell was smiling even from behind her mask and plenty of friendly banter with the other staff.Cannot fault this venue and look forward to our next visit.Keep doing what you're doing guys!!!

Came here for a birthday lunch last Sunday, we were greeted warmly by the manager. We had a friendly waitress who took our drink and food order. The pub was busy but social distancing was in place and hand sanitizer stations were available around the pub. I had the baked camembert, the dirty burger and the brownie, it was so good and I was stuffed. Everyone had something different, we had a mixture of fish, steak and the Sunday roast. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and it was one of our party members birthday earlier in the week and for her dessert they wrote Happy Birthday which was a nice touch. All in all all the staff were friendly and professional, the food was amazing and I would definitely recommend and I'll be back!

Went for lunch at my favourite place and once again left very satisfied. Food was high standard and the staff making us feel welcome as always. Andi was our waitress today who has always got a smile on her face. Can't wait until next time!

Definately recommend the Cowper Arms restaurant! Visited this lovely country pub today and I had the cod and chips for my main which was delicious and the porn star eaten mess for pudding which I will definitely be having again! Olivia served us and she was so polite and made our meal perfect by making sure we were well looked after! Me and my family will definately be coming back!

We went for dinner here and loved that they had a vegan menu. We had a lovely waitress - Milly - who was working extremely hard, and was a real asset to the place. Unfortunately the mojito I ordered tasted v odd - suspect the person who made it didn’t really know what it should taste like - it was lacking the lime flavour, brown sugar and I suspected also the rum was missing... the waitress was v apologetic - but then the bar staff who made it, instead of just making it properly with more lime as I’d asked, just came out to patronisingly tell me that she’d made it perfectly and it was me who was wrong. I always drink mojitos, I’ve never had a problem anywhere else - and even if you think the customer is wrong you don’t come out to publicly try to school them about it. The only outcome to this was me drinking water for the rest of the night and the whole restaurant who overheard her loud self defence just being amazed at how unprofessional this lady was. Milly our waitress did her best to apologise but it wasn’t her fault. The food was generally good - some ingredients missing in one of our dishes but we’re told there was some trainee chefs which is fair enough.I’ve heard from staff who work there that they don’t get free meals and just get a discount for (Quite expensive) meals even when they work v long shifts. I always ask this question when I eat somewhere as I don’t like to support places that don’t look after their staff well. Therefore prob wouldn’t go back to this place - there’s better places about with staff that can make cocktails and places that value their staff.

My Fiancé and I visited this pub for the first time. We were immediately impressed by the welcome we received from Josh who explained the safety rules and one way system to us. After being shown to our table we were introduced to Olivia who was very friendly and professional. We had 3 courses each, and each one was delicious! The fillet steaks in particular were perfectly cooked, and melted in our months- thank you Chef!There was a lovely atmosphere throughout the whole night and every table around us seemed to be enjoying their food and evening as much as us. It is not easy to know where to visit to enjoy an evening out and feel safe and comfortable but I would thoroughly recommend The Cowper Arms, there is a clear one way system, sanitising stations all around and the staff clear follow the safety protocols in place. Thank you for a lovely, relaxing evening and we will be back very soon!

Had a lovely lunch today, the 4th or 5th time since the pub re-opened. As usual the food was lovely with portion size just right. Our server today, Keely, was both friendly and very professional and I saw her regularly cleaning chairs and tables and sanitising her hands. We have returned several times and taken friends and family too as the covid procedures they have in place made us feel very safe. Face coverings required when going to and from the table and when visiting the toilets, they do not lean over the table but just ask you to take your drinks from their tray and there is plenty of sanitiser everywhere. Overall, great and we will continue to return.

I've had some really lovely meals at the Cowper Arms but sadly our Sunday lunch wasn't one of them.My beef was tough. They did replace it for me but it was only marginally better and the portion of meat was small. The pork was also on the tough side. The yorkshires were soggy and the presentation was lack lustre. On the plus side the dauphinoise potatoes and the gravy were delicious and the enironment continues to make this one of my favourites. They were also doing a great job handling distancing / Covid.Unfortunately won't be doing a Sunday lunch there again.

When for a late lunch to the Cowper Arms, having booked and was looking forward to the meal as on previous occasions the food in terms of quality and portions have been excellent.Today was very disappointing in so far as given the restrictions placed of pubs and restaurants you would think that they would be going out of their to ensure the food was top notch.The King Prawn and Devon Crab fish cakes were far from this, more a ball of mashed potato, no prawns of crab to be found, either by sight or taste.This was pointed out to the waiter and the item taken off the bill. The manageress mentioned she would speak to the chef, but I think this was more to do with cutting down as opposed to chefs ability to create flavorsome dishes.We shall visit again with the hope of a better experience.

Friendly & efficient waitress who dealt with our minor pudding issues quickly without fuss. Very enjoyable evening and clearly taking the Covid restrictions seriously which is very reassuring. Good job Cowper team, we’ll be back soon!

Friendly service, adhering to government rules, plenty of hand sanitizers. Food tasted delicious, we had King prawn , crab & chorizo linguine, sea bass and the pie. Presentation of food was very good, waitress was attentive. Definitely go again!

I have been to this restaurant many times but this was my first time back since the pandemic. It did NOT disappoint. The restaurant had been rearranged taking into consideration the need to socially distance and all staff (and customers) adhered to the one way system, table service, hand sanitising and wearing of face coverings. The staff were all extremely friendly and professional particularly Katie and Rob who went over and above their duty to accommodate our needs. The food was excellent, we both had the Asian Crispy Duck Salad which was amazing with fries and sweet potato fries so it wasn't so healthy! By what I could see they haven't reduced their menu either which many restaurants have.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone, best place too to stop off if you are out for a walk. We will definitely be coming again!

I visited The Cowper Arms Letty Green for a birthday celebratory meal.I haven't eaten out much lately because of the pandemic and wasn't sure what to expect with the social distancing, masks,etc. So when my wise, old sister suggested The Cowper-I thought why not? I must say - the whole experience was a delight! We were greeted by Katie who was so warm and welcoming(an absolute asset to the place!) We were shown to a quiet table which was spotlessly clean.The menu is vast with a wide choice of meals. I had the fish and chips and it was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The service we received was excellent, absolutely top notch! We didn't feel rushed and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.On leaving, Katie bid us a fond farewell which really topped off the day. She's so polite, organised and friendly. Would I recommend this place to a friend - yes I already have!We'll definitely be back, I'm retiring soon so my old sister and me will become regulars.

Won’t we going again !!!!Went on a Sunday for a friends birthday lunch The child’s dinner was terrible and we asked where was the rest of it ? it was a tiny portion of Mac cheese and some peas Also the child’s desert ice cream with half a cookie ? We walked from Hertford to the pub on a Sunday afternoon which is a lovely walk taking around an hour.We were greeted at the door promptly, all current Covid safety measures in place (QR track & trace check in, hand sanitiser, masks worn by all staff & non seared customers, one way system, social distancing, social distanced tables) the host gave us a run down of the safety measures in place and told us to ask if we had any other queries. Honestly the safest place we’ve visited in these times, with the most protocols in place and being adhered too. We were sat with tables not in use either side of us to allow for social distancing. The decor and atmosphere of the pub was lovely, cosy and homely feeling. We were served by very attentive, friendly members of staff who were all following protocol. Our drinks were brought out quickly, we were even asked to take them from the tray ourselves to avoid staff members having to touch them - something I’ve not seen other venues do, small touches like this meant we felt extremely comfortable given the pandemic, having been to other pubs where practise has been lacking to say the least, this was extremely welcome and reassuring. There was lots of choice on the Sunday menu, our food was delicious and served quickly to us (nut roast & duck salad), staff were wonderfully attentive but not over bearing.Given how lovely the atmosphere was we decided to stay for another drink before heading off, our Bill was brought to us straight away and staff were friendly on our departure. Would highly recommend, an extremely welcome stop off after an Autumnal walk! We will be returning soon.

Since lockdown we have been on a search for a great couple of pubs for us to have a family meal we enjoy. After our visit today we have decided we no longer need a couple of pubs we will just come to the Cowper arms every couple of weeks. Food was fantastic especially the beef dripping sauce with my dirty burger. We will be booking for a roast dinner soon

This evening my partner and our three dogs took the last minute decision to walk down cole green way from ours in Hertford to the Cowper arms ideally situated just off the lane its less than an hour's walk and most enjoyable down the defunct train track to the pub. Terri our waitress was outstanding and very attentive, friendly and hospitable.The food was devine and reasonably priced our bottle of malbec and two mains Totalling just over £50. The walk home took a little longer as it was dark (or it may of been the Malbec) and we had to rely on our phone torches so go prepared but do go such a lovely way to spend a balmy British summers evening.

I visited this gastro pub with my partner for Sunday lunch and we had a very enjoyable experience. The pub was very homely and the staff very attentive especially our server, Andi who helped us with everything and always had a smile on her face. We had a very tasty trio of roasts and the kalamari was also delicious.I will definitely return again and recommend this to friends and family.

Upon arrival we were made to feel welcome by Rob, despite everything that’s been going on and how busy we expected it to be the atmosphere did not lack at all. The food was excellent and the wait was exactly as long as I’d expect so I didn’t feel rushed, I had the Line caught cod and chips which was lovely with crisp batter and great tasting chips that weren’t too soft. The whole meal felt well paced with staff making sure we were okay

Fantastic venue and staff ! We had a business lunch ... with a couple of tequilas! The linguine was incredible, full of flavour and just the right size too. Empty plates too from my other guests. Met the new manager Josh too. A man who is clearly in the know and I look forward to see what he can do with the place. Cannot wait to come back !

It was great to be back tuesday evening, everything was explained well and we all felt safe throughout our visit. It was extremely busy and we had Terri explain a possible wait and took our drink order promptly, followed by bread and oils. A few new faces, possibly a new manager? He greated us and asked how our day had been before explaining the safety messaures, instantly made us feel welcome. Lovely to see Rob again behind the bar, he always has time to say hi, even though he was extremely busy on our visit. Kate brought our food out and asked if we needed anymore drinks, sauces etc. Very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The food looked outsanding, it was presented well and tasted delicious. Good to be back. Cant wait to our next visit.

Fantastic food, in fact the most delicious food we have eaten. Rack of lamb, pizza and chicken followed by creme brûlée, billionaires gold bar. So yummy. We asked for a window seat and were delighted to be seated in a bay window overlooking the garden. Excellent service. Thoroughly recommend

Upon arrival we had a friendly greeting and were informed about all of the new procedures due to covid which made us feel very comfortable. We then enjoyed a delicious meal and our waitress Terri made us feel comfortable and the experience even more pleasant. Definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning!!

Wow what a gem this pub is. Amazing food, service and atmosphere. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I’d highly recommend the rack of lamb it was absolutely perfect. We will definitely be back and will be recommending to all of our friends and family.

Warm greeting when we got there. Were given a choice of the garden or a table in the bar area. The garden was lovely on a sunny afternoon and the staff didn't forget we were out there - drinks replenished regularly and food service was good. The dirty burger was a hit as were the calamari and chipotle sticky chicken starters.

Today was my husbands birthday and I wanted to take him for some delicious food out in the countryside with our little family. The Cowper Arms did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and the staff incredibly friendly. My youngest daughter declared that the Macaroni cheese was the best ever! She even used her vegetables to sweep up the last of the cheese sauce. The pub is well laid out and they have been very thoughtful about providing everything you need during these days of covid with one way systems, hand sanitation areas and track and trace systems in place.Thank you to them all for such a pleasurable experience. We will definitely be back!

Went here last year for a family meal and it was great . Took my family again this week only to find the portions are now kid size for adults ? We all was still feeling a bit hungry after we left. I won't be returning

I walked in with an air of arrogance, I was sure I’d be dining well tonight. I wasn’t wrong, the floor was solid, walkable as any I’ve ever had. The tables gave me a type of solid foundation I’d been searching for for a long time. The chairs gave me a level of comfort I haven’t felt since I was 9 months young, entering the world as a majestic young being. The staff were lovely, the food was magnificent. The air was crisp and easily breathable. The drinks were strong, perhaps overbearingly so, I started to feel my wits leave after half an hour upon entering. Overall I was very impressed and would very confidently frequent every passing moon. Good day, fellow reviewers...good day.

First time out since lockdown, was a bit apprehensive to be honest but I can honestly say that they got it spot on. Was greeted by the manager (John I think) who explained everything and made us feel safe. After that it got even better. The dirty cheese burger was to die for and would recommend. Our server (Mandy I think) was delightful and a real credit to Johns team. Will be returning!

We were greeted by a member of the team, I believe her name was Mandy, and she showed us to our table and explained the menu and from that moment we had an excellent evening. Mandy was attentive to all our needs and probably deserves a thank you card for her efforts. In addition to the wonderful service, the food was fantastic; I had the pork belly and my partner the rotisserie chicken and both were well received with the accompanying scallops in particular cooked well.

What a lovely evening we had! The staff were exceptional especially Olivia and Kate.They went that extra mile to help us out when there had been some mix up with the booking.All evening they were smiling and helpful.The food was delicious too.!

Great welcome, very clear Covid explanation, and quick service for some drinks. Then into the mains - rack of lamb perfectly cooked and excellent tastes with no need to add any seasoning. Surprise Happy Anniversary on our dessert plates!! Advice - go for the mini-dessert and hot drink for afters - dessert was plenty big enough and great coffee served with it. Overall lovely lunch, with bright and friendly staff - well done Cowpers Arms.

Having visited in the past a few times and knowing they were dog friendly we returned ., but overall disappointed.Helpful staff , but slow service, need more staff ? It was busy. Fishcakes tasteless , partner’s fish and chips not the best .They didn’t give £10 off meal only a percentage? Realised when I got home my tonic should have been part of the £10 as a soft drink.

I took my family here for dinner on the eat out to help out scheme and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was banging, the staff were friendly and I felt safe in the pub given the current circumstances. Already booked to return.

Decided to come to this lovely country pub with my husband this evening and I must say we had the best time! The food was beyond delicious and plated so nicely.Our waitresses name was Andi and she was such a lovely bubbly young lady and made sure we had the best time! She is an asset to this beautiful pub.I 100% recommend going there as after my evening tonight I will definitely be returning!

Great night, the food was amazing and the service was fantastic Nathanial served us he was polite friendly and Was always around when we wanted drinks etc. They are doing all they can to make the place safe following strict rules due to Covid. Will definitely be returning.

Had a pleasant evening with my family at the Cowper arms. Service was impeccable, our waitress Ruby made us feel not only welcome but tended to our every need. Will definitely be returning and encourage others to visit, will definitely be worth it!!!

Came here with my family for dinner. It was a nice sunny evening and we sat out side in the garden. The staff were friendly, the service was quick and we all enjoyed the meal.I had the rack of lamb and brownie for pudding, portion sizes are good fairly priced.Would defiantly recommend and will be going back again

Fantastic dinner tonight at the Cowper Arms with my family. Arrived and was seated quickly, front of house explained the rules in place to keep customers safe. Drinks ordered and delivered to our table, food orders taken, everything cooked to perfection and piping hot. All food ordered was delicious, I really enjoyed the salt and pepper squid, Chicken brie and bacon pie and the brownie dessert. All four of us enjoyed the food.The staff were friendly and attentive on this very warm evening.Highly recommend this country pub restaurant

This pub is local to us, and we visit it frequently for both drinks and food. However, this was the first time I ventured out for dinner post-lockdown (I have been shielding for +4 months). And I have to say, I was more than impressed. Not only was the food, service and atmosphere just as it was pre-COVID, they have implemented fantastic rules so everyone can be safe. They are also part of the "Eat Out To Help Out" scheme, so that was a bonus!It was a lovely evening, so we sat in their garden, with the tables +2m apart. Everyone in the establishment followed proper safety and guidance, and they all alleviated my fears for venturing out again to eat. We will definitely be eating there again very soon, so thank you to all the staff who were kind, patient and attentive.

About a year or so ago we discovered this Gem of a pub that did such good food we took our family there and have told several friends about how great it was. We have been about ten times throughout the year and have never been disappointed, until now. Its not that this evenings meal was terrible its just that the standards we have had and now expect when we come here fell well short tonight. The starter was fine, then came my main meal. I had the linguine. I thought it was a child's portion, though it tasted OK it wasn't hot and it took me about eight mouthfuls to finish. My daughters Chicken was a lot smaller than we normally expect and get from here. We carried on with mini puddings and hot drinks. The hot drinks came first, again luke warm at best and were drunk well before the puddings arrived, and again they were not exactly piping hot (we had the crumble).When it came to the bill the government scheme eat out to help out money off was not removed from the bill and I had to ask for this to be done. We left disappointed as we have such good memories here and have loved and really looked forward to our meals here. I'm afraid tonights was just bang average and I never thought I would say that about the Cowper. I don't now if the closing of the pub during lockdown has changed the attitude of the owners but something has gone wrong with one of our favourite places to eat. We did have another booking for next week which I will likely cancel now, such a shame.
