Was in on the busiest of Saturdays last week. What an atmosphere and the staff were rocking it likes bosses! This is the best bar around. A class act with fantastic staff. Top level service and quality drinks and snacks! Don’t even consider anywhere else in Lanark. There’s no competition!!

Great wee place for a quiet drink with fabulous music in the background. The outside area is fantastic to sit out in if it's warm, but they do have heaters which are surprisingly effective. Best to book as its a popular place...

Went here for lunch today with friends and was very impressed. The food was excellent, we had 4 different mains, no complaints at all. A wonderful cheeseboard, sticky toffee pudding and a piece of cake with coffees finished it off nicely. The waitress was so pleasant and helpful. Prices seem very reasonable and you can take in your own wine. We will certainly be back and look forward to summer when we'll be able to sit out in the lovely courtyard.

Restaurant under new management, so we decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised! The walk into the courtyard was all lit up with twinkling lights and it made the place feel very welcoming. Instead was very quaint, service was great and the food was yummy, all very reasonably priced especially as you could bring your own booze! Definitely will go back soon.

staff were amazing a credit to the company I don't eat meat so settled for the fish my wife decided on the three meat became two roast and explained she did not eat pork so three became two and this is where this review gets sad the Turkey my wife said could only have come from some old bird for it was tough and unedible and was left on the plate the quality of the veg was excellent but quanty left a lot to be desired one piece of carrot one piece of turnip a few green beans and four small roast potatoes not our idea of a sunday roast unless you are anarexic I could not fault my meal excellent is the only word to describe it Having used the courtyard for many years and seen it change it now does not seem to know what it wants to be but one thing it is is over priced for what it is delivering at least put some veg on the plate for there is nothing worse the leaving a restraunt hungry the waitress did apologise when she was told about the turkey but that was as far as it went

Under new Management, Chef Jeff! Been here a few times in the last few months and had a wonderful experience each time. The food is such a different take on Italian style food I absolutely love it. A small and intimate place and very friendly where you can take your own bottle, well worth a visit!

Warm welcome by the owners Davy & Angie no matter how busy they are and the food and service is superb, we enjoyed the food so much that my daughter's recent wedding buffet was supplied by Davy and Angie for over 50 guests and included one Vegan meal. Everyone raved about the selection and quality of food the only thing returned to Davy & Angie was empty containers !!!! Thank you both again for all your hard work in making my daughter and son in law's wedding so wonderful.

I went in for morning coffee and was pleasantly surprised by the range of food on offer. The only drawback is the place is on the small side and only has about 6 or 7 tables.

As I used to work locally, we used to get takeaway lunches from the Courtyard. Soup is nice. However can be a wee bit pricey for what you get. Especially when your not sitting in. Sometimes I'd smile at the owners and get a glare in return. I will not be going back here to sit in, Plenty of other friendly tearooms to go to in Lanark who will welcome you with open arms!

Visited this cafe with my partner, we live near Lanark and have never noticed it before as it is tucked away on a side street. There was nice tables outside to sit in the summer and at first glance it all appeared very pleasant - sadly it ended before we opened the door! The food was reasonable, a decent full english for a decent price. The waitress however was one of the most unpleasant and passive aggressive people i have ever has the displeasure to meet. My partner complained that we were paying £2 for a milkshake which when the bubbles dispersed was only actually half a glass and overpriced at £2. Tea and coffee was ordered but never arrived and after a total of 45 minutes in the cafe we decided to give up all hope of it ever arriving. When we remarked to our waitress that our drinks had not come we received no apology but yet more angry and confrontational remarks. We did not feel welcome there and felt that the waitress had taken a personal dislike to us due to the disrespectful way she was speaking to us. We will not return - I refuse to pay to be treated so poorly for a second time. Shame on her!

Very disappointed to visit today to be told when entering cafe 'you can't come in here with a that' 'the push-chair' it's a fire hazard! Would have been nicer if the woman had come and explained rather than shouting from the end of the cafe. The cafe was empty and I would have been happy to sit out of the way. Won't be back, which is a shame as the food is lovely - bad customer service

This is a great little eatery tucked away off the top of the Castlegate in Lanark. The selection on the menu is varied and all at a reasonable cost. The place is very popular all year round and it's a great place to have lunch outside in the summer. The all day breakfast has to be the best one served in the whole of Lanark and you won't find better value for money anywhere else in town. Dave and Angie the owners make a great team both in the kitchen and front of house.

My mum and sister went here for lunch and were so impressed 4 of us went the next day for lunch for my Mum's birthday. The owner gave my Mum her mobile number so she could phone to reserve a table, good idea as it is a busy wee place. Between us we had aubergine soup, pea and ham soup, breaded haddock, lasagne and a quorn burger. All the food was fantastic. When we ordered empire biscuits they put birthday music on and brought my Mum's empire biscuit out with a candle on it and sang happy birthday. We had a great time and will definitely be back, the staff are fab.

Tucked away down an alleyway, we nearly missed this place; glad we didn't. We sat in the sunny courtyard and were all alone, inside was packed. Nice and peaceful, very relaxing. Only stopped for a coffee but the food looked gooooood, so we had a sandwich. We were not dissaponted. I requested ham and mustard and my partner had cucumber and cream cheese; YUM!!! Salad and crisps accompanied the sandwich and all went down well - nice coleslaw.Coffee was hot and service was very good, you order at the counter and your order is then served to your table. The young girl had a bit of trouble with my Yorkshire accent but I empathise as I struggled with hers but we got there in the end; didn't help me being a little deaf. LOLToilets nice and clean, friendly staff, good food and nice courtyard to sit in - what more could you want?

My husband I arranged a day off together and headed to Lanarkshire. We had a walk around Lanark Loch and headed into town for lunch. We looked at a few places before deciding The Courtyard suited our needs. Tucked away down a short passageway we found this lovely, homely little restaurant/cafe. They have menus to suit all tastes and ages. They have wonderful home made scones, tray bakes and cakes to tempt you but we wanted something more substantial. I chose the soup and hot roll option with a pot of tea for £5. My husband chose a soup and sandwich and pot of tea for £6.25. Extremely good value and very tasty food. They only have one toilet for both males and females but I have never seen such a well stocked toilet with baby wipes and change mat, disposable toilet seat wipes, toilet cleaner, air fresher, deodorant and plenty hot water. I was also impressed by a sign in the cafe that said please tell staff if you have any food allergies and they will try and accommodate you. Perhaps they could also consider some sugar- free options for diabetics. The cakes looked lovely but as I was going out for dinner I refrained. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we will definitely be back and recommend it to friends.

We travel to here from Glasgow because it is clean the service is good and the food is spot on. The menu include a god vegetarian variety of choice, better than hotels I have stayed in, they also offer gluten free and also the option of smaller portions. They do a lovely Cappucino a pleasure to behold and consume. We bypass numerous food serving garden centres to reach here and will continue to do so. We come here for food at a good price good service not a chat , courteous is good enough for us and we feel that is there so we will be back as usual.

My husband and I (as locals) used to be regulars and at one point went more than once a week. We gave chance and chance again and all we got was dirty looks (unless they were in the MOOD to stand and chat until your food went cold!) We wont be back after our last visit. We received part of our meal amd waited a further 15mins for the rest, after telling a staff member who went to inform one of the more "mature" members who shot us the most horrible look and dumped it on our table without so much as an apology. We finished up paid, left and damn well wont be back!! Far too cramped too, especially when they will complain about prams in the place but wont think twice when welcoming in "friends" with zimmers blocking the aisle.

Although me, hubby and 86 year old mother-in-law have been here before, we were shocked at lack of customer care on this visit. We had been a couple of times after shopping in Lanark. Enjoyed starters, main courses, tea coffee and cakes and although maybe a bit overpriced and meagre portions, service etc was ok.On one of our visits after hospital appointment, Grandma and I shared the soup, roll and cuppa deal, hubby always having his usual starter and main. On our last visit we were refused the option to share the soup, roll deal. So silly! By refusing the soup, roll, deal for one the Courtyard lost out! Only one main was purchased. We did not buy coffee, cakes etc for all three! Worked out a loss for the Courtyard and then local businesses wonder why they fail?Lots of excellent places to eat in and around Lanark, give this one a miss!

Popped in here to console myself after finding the Tunnocks bakery was shut. Ordered the veggie breakfast to dine in which included tea.
