I have not been to the country kitchen since b4 Covid over a year ago. I booked a table for today, I turned up a little early and went up to the counter, I had forgotten to wear a mask, and said hello, the guy, who I assume is the manager said "PUT YOUR MASK ON" in a rather surly manner. I said "I'm eating do I have to wear one." He said "YES OF COURSE YOU DO!" I turned away and mumbled "Oh -uck it^ and dug out a mask and put it on. He said in a really strange way "Don't you swear at me. " I replied "I was not swearing at you." He then said "You come in here every week moaning and complaining, I'm bloody fed up with it!" I was really surprised since I hadn't been in for over a year and said so. He replied "You are always coming in here and moaning to other guests about the food and the service GET OUT YOU'RE BANNED AND I'M NOT SERVING YOU" I laughed and left and as I went he said "Don't come back

A very delicious chicken curry, big chunks of chicken, served with fluffy rice. Garlic bread to die for. All home-made and very reasonable prices. Can't wait until we can visit again.

Travelled up from Kent and was looking for breakfast, we had been here in the past for coffee and cake, but have to say their breakfast is really really good, prompt seating service, made to feel welcome. Breakfast was great, will be back again just as soon as we can

We were travelling from Stoke-on-Trent to Buckinghamshire so stopped here for the proverbial cup of tea. Gosh what a very pleasant surprise. Beautifully decorated, great variety of food on offer (we succumbed to lemon drizzle cake too) and a bijou shop within the café too full of more tempting goodies.

Had a chocolate cake for £1.80. It was so dry it was falling apart definitely not worth the money. It absorbed all the moister out of my throat. Even managed to find a few white hairs, considering in catering you would wear hair nets. Shocking for the price I may as well of gone to co-op and got a whole cake for £2. Also the chips are nearly always under cooked and hard. Please improve! Otherwise the other food is ok if you are willing to wait.

We stopped for a very generous pot of tea, Americano coffee, piece of fruit cake and crisps, only £5.75. Other in the Country Kitchen were finishing off their carvery meals (this was a Sunday) - which looked good, and there were several comments about how good the meat and veg were. (small portion is £5, I believe). Large dining room, comfy chairs, light and airy.

.....and that's just what we got. Excellent! Attached to a day care centre, The Country Kitchen had a homely feel, with comfortable seating, clean and offering a good range of food from light snacks to full meals at a fair price. Freshly prepared and tasty, this was just what we wanted. Would we go back? Yes if we're in the area.

The Country Kitchen is a large dinning room attached to a day care centre which serves a very wide selection of hot and cold sandwiches, panini sand oatcakes as well as a selection of main meals, all for £5 or less. A wide choice of hot and cold drinks and a selection of cakes make the perfect accompaniment to your main meal.

The Country Kitchen is very unpretentious; in fact it's a large dining room attached to the local day care centre which is open to the public. However, the staff are really friendly, welcoming and helpful ( a special heads up to Lynn here) and the food is amazing value; two sausage cobs ( both with 3 sausages!) and a pot of tea for two came to £6.50! There is an extensive menu; just what is needed when you're a hungry visitor and don't want to wait 15 minutes just to have your order taken (as happened at another cafe here).

Great food, I always come here when I'm in Darley Dale and it never disappoints ! The lady at the front is always the friendliest and serves with a smile every time.

The food was dreadful and expensive. Can’t say it any plainer. Schnitzel was burnt and poorly presented. Pasted was soggy. The very worst was the waffles which had been microwaved and were solid! Just the two us for a birthday meal with one drink each and it cost £91!

great little bakery in the centre of wirksworth, spotlessly clean, and run by a friendly elderly couple, who make everything homemade. cakes, pastries, and homemade pies, and also coffeees, teas, and cold drinks.very reasonable prices, and just up the road from Wirksworth railway station. i always pop in for treats when i catch the train up from Duffield for the afternoon, recomended..! :-)
