The Counting House in Wakefield

We visited here on part of our first journey out of hospital after watching a show,there was 3 of us and 2 in wheelchairs,we sat outside on friday night 20th Sept 2024 as 10 pm approached we needed to come inside, the door staff assisted us into the pub where we found a fantastic atmosphere?lively and vibrant. Disabled toilets very clean and accessible. Then as we were leaving the door staff even assisted us getting into our taxi. All in all your pub and your staff made a great end to our first trip out,we will be coming again. Thank you

Nice bar located in the centre of town at the top of Westgate. Came for a quick drink. Smart enough place with good service. Great choice of drinks at reasonable prices. Gets very busy at peak times. I didn't stay for the live music, sports on t.v. or food.

So me and my wife went for an early evening drink around 6.30. my wife went outside of a quick vape on the way back in. The bouncer approached her and told no single ladies or men are aloud on the premises unless she could prove that i was inside So we approached him on the way out as my wife was shaking , as she already suffered anxietys and other things, and his reply was its company policy , pointing at the camera ( i find this very strange after working security and have an sia license ) (Very creepy behaviour 😳) I've tried to email nigel at head office with no reply

Had a afternoon brunch which was first class along with the food and all the staff, perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon

Had brunch on Saturday at the CH couldn’t fault it!! Great food and the drinks were coming thick and fast. I would definitely recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cracking City centre bar located on two floors. Multiple TV screens for live sport downstairs along with a vibrant music atmosphere. Weekends will see live bands upstairs all free of charge. Competitive bar prices. Young and lively

Went to see Guns N Yorkshire Roses here, didn't have food so can't comment on that, but the pub was Rocking, live music upstairs most weekends Free entrance can't fault it.

Fantastic burger and chips from slap and pickle in the pub highly recommend 👌

BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH We weren't booked in the diary to start with, was told wasn't enough food for us so would have to have pizza as extra to make up, some of the food wasn't there that was on the menu even tho we were told nothing was missing. Music too loud cant hear people who brunching with have to shout, first drinks didn't come for 20 mins and long waiting time between, staff were pleasant enough they did make up for it by giving extra drinks and longer time. Would not brunch again there, but would go for drinks

My friends and I had a Bottomless Brunch here this afternoon and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious, and there plenty of it for the 3 of us, a great selection and with the added bonus of a very tasty brownie and ice-cream dessert each. 😋 The range of drinks available in the brunch deal was impressive and our waitress, Lyla (I hope I heard your name correctly) was on top of our drinks. We literally got half way down a glass and she was back to take the next round of drinks. Friendly, helpful staff and great atmosphere. 👍

Made to feel unwelcome had e few drinks but wasnt drunk got told to go to the pub round the corner tried to buy my frien d a drink who was sober got told ide had too much to drink will not visit again only called for a drink because we havnt been befor

Had a bottomless brunch here on Saturday afternoon with a friend. Really enjoyed it. The drinks were great and served very frequently. The staff were so lovely and friendly and couldn't have looked after us more. They were really flexible with the food and drinks and the whole experience was tailored to what we wanted which was great.

Went to watch the footy and have some food with the family which we've done now and again for some time. Walked in 10 mins before kick off expecting it to be busy as always has been regardless of who is playing.... completely dead - had to check there was a game on and if they could show it. There was, and they could. Soon discovered why nobody was there though.... food menu has been stripped right back - all the lovely food they used to do not there to order any more, also the bar staff were telling me that they're not allowed to put the audio of the football on, has to be music!? There was our table and ONE other table of two lads alao watching the game... but no, no audio: Spurs game with BabyG and the Spice Girls haha kinda torpedo's the atmosphere. Ordered food (which was nice) but we wanted some of the stuff they've taken off the menu, had a beer, then left to go somewhere we can hear the game too with an atmosphere.

8 of us went for a bottomless brunch last Saturday. If it wasn't for Laila we would have been lucky to get 2 drinks. She was absolutely brilliant. She really is a credit to the your team. The 5*service is based on what Laila alone provided to us.

A great bar in the city centre with a nice atmosphere and decor. We visited Saturday afternoon and had food from the Grill Pit menu. It's mainly burgers, but they were gorgeous. There were a few families in there, too. They had live music upstairs later in the evening. The prices were fair for a city centre pub and there was a good choice of drinks.

Fab brunch - special shout out to Lyla who made the brunch and kept us all very happy 😊

I've always liked this bar until last night. The manager was soooo rude and told us off for saying excuse me really polietly to get a drink as nobody told us how the bottomless brunch works. The food was gorgeous though.

Unreal food and atmosphere loads of TVs, every football game and sports game on tv, came for food at 2pm and came back for more at 19:30. Been here for food many times and would come back everyday. Friendly staff and its the first place we think about everytime we go out👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

There is something clearly wrong with your door staff. The rude female one… obviously on a massive power trip. She stole my driving licence claiming it was fake… it’s not fake. She still refused to give it back after I showed her my 4 debit/credit cards and even my work ID card. Kept saying that it was in the safe and she couldn’t get it out and I had to return for it the next day lol… I wouldn’t mind if I looked young and wasn’t genuine etc but I’m 26 😂. In the end I had to get the police involved, and guess what… the police returned my driving licence.

Nice friendly staff , had a small issue with a few drinks and sorted it straight away

Rude staff , vile and abusive , Sam walked off to joke with his friends while serving me on a Friday afternoon , ruined the night. Wakefield and especially the counting house is such a nice place to be but this ruined our night. Our drinks service was wrong and then I was blamed and shouted at because he just wasn’t interested , really disappointed.

A bar with a good atmosphere and very good range of drinks, especially cocktails

Compered to some other establishment's it is expensive, very clean establishment bar tender disappeared at times doing other jobs.

This is a nice place overall with friendly staff - your beer is letting you down coors today was awful for £4.50 a pint you need to sort it very poor it was warm & the taste was nothing like it should be we left & went to another pub

Just called for somewhere different for lunch with kids, very quit so didn't expect mutch but pleasantly surprised. Good food good service will be back on a evening when more people present . thank you.

Great place, one of my favourites. Although the music can be a bit to loud to point you end up shouting. Wish they would bring back the stakes.

This is a great bar, one of the best we've found in Wakefield for both price and atmosphere. The cocktails were great, 2 for £10 and you get decent measurements in them. We haven't eaten in here yet but we will definitely be back!

I live local. I've been to Counting House a few times now and each time, the food and atmosphere has been great. Great value food as well, compared to other, similar establishments. If you haven't been, it's worth a visit.

First time in this bar but my party enjoyed it. Lots of staff serving, lots of seating and standing area. Cocktail deals and footy. And you can get food too.

Summer gives amazing service with a smile the food is amazing couldn't rate this place more highly

We have had grill pit takeaway delivery a few times and it has always been delicious food. Great experience with a relaxed environment and friendly staff. Lovely cocktails and even better being 241! Made a big mistake when reviewing, sorry. Enjoyed my meal there and the young girls that served us was very helpful. The place itself is nice ,clean and welcoming. We were well looked after and when I visit Wakefield again will eat here. Once again, sorry for what I put , was a silly mistake.

extremely angry after today's experience at the counting house. Manager was very good, all very co vid friendly and professional. The problem was the unprofessional waitress from the north east who decide that flirting with 6 guys who were without manners or respect. Turning the TV over when customers are watching it is very rude. Being told to calm down when complaining was very annoying. Watching the waitress flirt, giggle, tend to that table with every smile from the lads for the following 2 hours was extremely angering. The pub itself is decent, nicely layed out,food looked good, bt and sky sports,the manager was professional.... as for returning that's a definite no. Left angered.

2.50 pints till 6 even on weekends, great place for football

Really nice food! Chicken kebab was amazing. I went back again and had the parmo! They're not that nice if I'm honest and tasted bland but my friends had burgers and enjoyed them.

Manager-ess. Was very abrupt. Rude. & Extremely arrogant to myself & my 4 friends.. she approached our table to tell us that it was closing time.. which we didn't dispute.. only to see her letting a group of young ladies in . Then serving drinks to them. Also serving. Another table beside us... .. when my friend asked if we could have 2 drinks as 3 is our party were leaving. she snapped back. I've told you that it's closing time... he questioned her about serving 2 other tables.. to which she replied abruptly...what do you want....just to prove a point. He ordered 2 drink .. but she was far from being happy..the phrase .. face like a smacked AR$£ come to mind.... as you can gather.. we won't be using the counting house in Wakefield again.. but I suppose you will delete this post . So the good visitors to Wakefield who like to come here to enjoy a night out...will keep using this awfull bar.. .. we certainly won't...😡😡

Started out brilliantly, before DJ decided to empty the place with some odd music choices. Shame because it's a cracking venue.

Played this venue with my band ,Pac Band, several times. A great live music venue upstairs and downstairs there is food , drink , sports on TV and DJ music. A great place for a night out in Wakefield

Nice place to go for a drink, however the music can get very very loud, cant hear eachother speak sometimes. I wouldnt mind if it was upstairs where they have live music or a nightclub but it's a bar... maybe turn it down a little so people can talk. Other than that it's a cracking place to go for a drink

It was OK, but the bar man did not seem to like mixing cocktails and seemed to find it quite difficult. He was rather slow and people had to wait what seemed like ages to get served. The place was OK. The Blue Moon beer is extremely good. Nice and cold and properly served. Two of us had cocktails and had to take them back to get the right amount of sugar added. The seats wet comfortable and the room was not too noisy. Good place to sit and watch sport on the big TV screens. It isn't clear whether they are trying to be a sports bar, a cocktail bar or a music venue. All a bit confused, perhaps trying to appeal to all sorts.

Decided to visit The Grill Pit since they relocated to the Counting House to cure a hangover. Let me just say the food is incredible, I ordered the biggest burger on the menu and it is ridiculous. Every single item on the burger had flavour, nothing was dry or cold so can't fault them about anything. The kinder beuno milkshake was one of the best I've had. Good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks aswell. Staff were friendly and attentive to any requests we had.

Ordered food from the counting house cheese pasty and chips and a chicken Naanwich sandwich and chips both were lovely and hot and very tasty and the chef was very helpful and brought us some onion rings to go with our order
