Esquires Coffee in Wakefield

Very expensive for what it is £9. The taste was nice. Customer service wasn’t good.

Always great tasting coffee, comfy cafe, can't say cosy as it's open plan in the shopping centre. Unlike other recent reviews, I found the three staff today to be really friendly and chatty. Very helpful, took order and delivered to table. Had time to chat with customers. Joking and laughing with customers, very jolly! Clearly a good number of regulars too on first name terms. Definitely give it a go and don't be put off by other reviews.

Poor service avoid like the plague

Good coffee ☕ and light snack cafe, top floor of the ridings wakefield. Sausage or bacon sarnie and a cake. Good place for those cold winter days, out but in ☕.

Internet says it opens at 8:30. I'm still stood watching the lady set up (chairs creating a barrier to stop me getting in) and it's now 8:40. No acknowledgement that I am here. I'm sure it's nice once it's opened but maybe the Internet opening times are wrong.

Absolutely disappointed. Staff very unfriendly. 4 people working and no one bothered to clean a table where we sat. We got a wooden plank with table number and we were told to wait for table service. They never bothered bringing food and coffee instead were calling people to collect. What's the point. Last time I had my lunch here.

The place a joke sandwich two slices of bread no butter just plain bread if that’s the best they can do I take my custom elsewhere

The ladies who work here have got a real attitude problem I’ve afraid. They have a system where you give your order and they give you a number on a piece of wood to display at your table. Instead of then bringing your order to your table they shout out the number and if you don’t immediately spring to attention you get eye rolls and dirty looks. It’s your system, not mine, if you don’t like it do something else! Very poor customer service.

Staff are lovely but quality of food for the price was poor. It was 3.75 for a sandwich which consists of 2 slices of bread and a small filling and nothing else on the plate. What was there was nice but for that price I expected way more. Disappointed. There are better cafes within a minute walk.

Nice coffee but a fingernail in the cake was a thoughtful touch..

First visit today we have passed several times but today we stopped to try it out. I have 2 young children and the staff there were brilliant and friendly very attentive. And a large coffee is a large coffee and very nice too :) see you at the weekend :)

Whenever we visit the ridings we always pop in for a treat. Great place to sit, relax and people watch.

I'll probably be back. Really decent coffee. Cake was ok.

We have been here a couple of times now and we love their sandwiches. They're lovely and service is always fantastic. Highly recommended for a light lunch or coffee and cake

My husband had a latte and I had a hot chocolate. Our usual resting place for a quick cup of coffee.

The staff are so friendly and hard working. They always have time to greet you and the food and drink is of very high quality. It's a great place to while away a few hours just watching the world go by with a frothy coffee! My little girl love the milkshakes!

The food and drinks itself was decent. Clean tables. Only thing that was disappointing is the two ladies (blonde and purple) that was serving , was slagging off customers that couldn’t decide what they wanted whilst at the till. Maybe if there was menus on tables , customers would be able to decide quicker. Find this highly unprofessional

Ordered a white chocolate mocha with whipped cream on top, it was disgusting. She was an inexperienced barista who had no clue how to serve. The whipped cream was horrendously 'whipped' on and the mocha was dripping everywhere so at first glance it was a poor sight to look at. The taste was poor too, tasted nothing like a mocha. Just warm water with white chocolate powder. Ordered the brownie too which was rather bland. Not worth it.

Had a waffle here once, I don't know if they still do them, it was a nice waffle.

So, it's an Esquires, serving the typical range of hot drinks and food but with a multitude of added extras, such as waffles; the menu almost qualifies as "eclectic." I guess I'm saying you're probably going to be satisfied, because you have plenty to choose from. However, while this and the service are excellent, the location is, at least for me, depressing. You're not really "in" Esquires, it's just in an open space in a shopping mall that was last renovated god knows when. If you're not on a table in the centre, there's always people walking past you and in and out of TK Maxx: you do not have the luxury of a piece of glass to separate you. I hope they are able to move. On the bright side, excellent for Take Away, I guess!
