The Cottars in Fife

Ordered the steak pie,looked okay,but the meat was tough and tasted awful. Did say to the barmaid to pass on to the chef,never got a response back from anyone,was totally disappointed,as been there before and the food was good,but unfortunately won't be back.

The food is absolutely vile you ask for Macaroni and cheese and you get pasta with cheese on top the new owners ought to get their finger out and establish the place better than they have done will never go back ever in my life....

My wife had the prawn salad and I had the steak pie with chips. Both were delicious and the service was great.

Food disgusting as was service. Asked for steak pie and was given an abrupt no. Apparently there was none left. No potatoes either we had jumbo sausages. Sausage was ordinary size nor jumbo and horrible dry cheap frozen chips. Sorry used to go there a lot but wont be back.

We stopped here for a spot of lunch before continuing on our way and the lunch was delicious. The portion sizes were excellent and well worth the value for money. We will definitely be back!

I thought it was awful, dark, old pub. Staff not wearing masks and playing music which is not allowed during the epedemic. Food average. No ambience at all, staff member acted like he didn't want to be there, grunted 'what are you having?' Just awful. Never again.

I go to Cottars every week, and have done for a lot of years, with my husband and dad who is in a wheelchair and the staff are exceptional. Always friendly and ready to help. The owners, Mari and Neil are very welcoming and the food is always great. The prices are very good for the standard of food. I hope to continue going for years to come.

As usual the standard of food here is excellent. Good pub food cooked to order. Smaller portions available if required. All precautions followed by the team.

Had been out in Edinburgh for a few pints and celebrating armed forces day. Popped in for a few on the way back home and what a relief to be paying £3.50 for a pint instead of £5,25. I would recommend for tourists to stay in Fife and visit Fife pubs because the City of Edinburgh are fleecing tourists. The Cottars has friendly staff and locals and you will always be welcome here.

Have been here a few times at lunchtime now, food is lovely and freshly made. If your in a rush you can phone in your lunchtime order with time of arrival and your lunch will be ready for you. Friendly atmosphere with good staff. Tables are cleaned and cleared regularly. Excellent prices also.

Popped in for dinner and glad that we did, very reasonable price and good size portion for it. Food was tasty, will be back to try more from the menu

Whilst working in Scotland for a few weeks my work colleagues suggested we have lunch out and a few beers on Friday afternoon after work. Great idea. They took me to this little pub on a housing estate which at first sight is not the most inviting of places, until you go inside. What a great atmosphere and instantly you get the feeling you are in a community pub. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food, compared to down south, is give away. I have limits on the quantity of food I can physically eat and am conscious of waste, therefore I usually look at the kiddies menu. No need here, to my delight they have a 'small adult menu' each for £3.95 I had steak pie chips and veg with extra gravy. The portion was by no means minute, but for me was just the right size, I was so chuffed. We spent all afternoon here and the final bill came to £66 which was stunning as we were not shy in the drinks department. Aside from the beer and food the pub was very clean including the toilets. What a great place, keep it up.

We visited as a family of 5. We were easily able to sit together. The food was lovely and well presented. Very reasonable price too

This is my local pub. Often go to the quiz night on a Wednesday or if I am working during the week will pop in for the Karaoke on a Saturday night. They usually have an activity every night of the week. Great pub and great staff

Food never fails to please. Always great extra options to choose from. Service very good. Always enjoy our meal. Will be back.

Three of us stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I had steak pie my partner had macaroni and chips while our niece had a chicken burger and chips. Wait for it £18.00 including three soft drinks what amazing value. The menu is nothing fancy but they have a specials board too. All our food was very tasty and generous portions too. I would highly recommend the Cotters to anyone. Its just good pub grub at a price I have not seen anywhere for a long time. The two staff who took our orders and served us our food looked very busy but they made sure they were polite and friendly to us. Great wee find I will be back.

This is really a hidden gem if you are looking for heart pub grub. The steak pie is delicious and the portion is worth it. At only around £5 a dish it's a good deal and a lovely friendly environment

Me voy a quedar 5 minutos a pie de Cottars y es un pequeño pub fantástico. Usted puede ir para algunas pintas por el fútbol. La comida es genial y barato. Todo el personal es muy agradable. abierta a interpretación si necesita nueva decoración o no. Es un pub encantador y la decoración añade a eso. No te recomiendo ir si su familia para la comida o simplemente te gusta una pinta para ver el fútbol. Los lugareños son un buen grupo.

I come here every week with my grandad. It's amazing, great pub food amazing prices, great drinks and wonderful staff. Best Gammon I've had for years. Would also recommend Steak Pie, Lasagne and my grandads favourite Macaroni Cheese.

Always go to cottars on a free afternoon. The quality of the food served and the cost is great. Its never failed to impress over the years and i will continue to return

I found the food to be ok. Best buy would be the steak pie it is very tasty. Service is fine atmosphere is fine also.

We ate here today as a family with 2 boys. Food was fantastic value for money, 2 main meals for £10 and the kids meals were £2.95 each. They also had a few good selections on the special board. My husband said the steak pie was delicious and the macaroni cheese was very tasty. Soft drinks are very well priced too. Portion sizes are huge and it's all home cooked. We will definitely return very soon, I can see this becoming a favourite place of ours for a nice, cheap bar lunch out!

Had a very nice meal in this bar with my wife and two children age 5 and 13. Can highly recomend the steak pie of which you receive an epic size portion both my wife and children said their food was great .. Scampi ,cheesy jumbo and chicken nuggets and chips and all at a very reasonable price will definitely be back ...

We go here all the time and love it! There is a varied menu and all main courses are under a fiver and the starters are all under £2. The staff are so friendly and nothing is to much trouble.If you want a good bar lunch without spending a fortune this is the place to go.

A good menu ensures there was something for everyone. We preordered our food which was brought out on time and piping hot.Good pub food and friendly service in a warm, welcoming environment.

Nice home made pub food! £4.95 for steak pie & only £2 odd for desserts, been here a few times and always been happy with the food for lunch or dinner. Much better than the usual microwaved food pubs usually have.
