The room was clean and tidy, everything in order..staff were great, nothing too much bother..food was really tasty-we had a late lunch-food was piping hot coming out...the breakfast was fantastic, staff checking if there was anything you didn't like. Ideal location for our visit..all round friendly place. Would definitely stay here again 👍👍👍👍

Found this lovely place after receiving a very unfriendly welcome in a pub with the same name in Ammanford. This place couldn't have been more different! Warm friendly welcome (for us and our dog), small but excellent menu including plenty of vegetarian options, and the food was all excellent. The owner (I presume) took time to come over for a chat, and gave us some excellent ideas for places to visit. We returned for Sunday lunch and were equally impressed, the Sunday roast was delicious with plenty of veg.We would highly recommend it to others, and can't wait to return next time we are in the area.

Called in on way from Llanelli wasn't sure about whether we could get food butvwe both and Allie GD ret'd were made very welcome as always. I had 10 oz rump steak and prawns Leila had chicken goujons, she said she wanted room for8⁹ pudding. For afters Leila had rice pudding I had Banofee sundae both of which we highly recommend. My steak was cooked to perfection and other fish and vegetables were plentiful and well cooked. Leila's goujons were very nice. My steak was very good but I don't think it was quite as good as I have become accustomed to at the Cottage but to have complained would have been petty, it was still very good!Brian greeted us all like old friends and was his usual jolly self but told us he had to close for 12 weeks due to Covid. My family had a meal last night at this inn. The hosts were extremely welcoming but I am afraid to say the food was terrible. The surroundings required updating and the toilets, well!!My daughter-in-law and husband had duck priced at £16.45. They got what was supposed to be spiced duck iwhich was served n a tasteless sauce accompanied by rice. I hasten to add that they were offered peas as the veg!! For over £16 I thought it rather overpriced and of a very poor quality and presentation. I do not normally write reviews but I felt this place was so bad that I had to make other people aware. If you drive past this place my advice is to keep driving!!

My partner and I were really looking forward to our meal here due to it being local to us and having fantastic reviews on trip advisor. Despite the staff being welcoming and friendly the meal itself was disappointing. My partner ordered a burger, the burger appeared to be a frozen burger of low quality which was served in an equally low quality bun, with a side of frozen oven chips. I ordered the beef dinner. The meat was of good quality and well cooked, the vegetables were bland barr the red cabbage which was ghee saviour of the meal. I couldn't get enough. The roast potatoes appeared to have been sitting being warmed for a while as they were tough on the outside with shrunken potato on the inside. They were completely inedible!

A warm welcome on arrival as always. Most of us opted for the Sunday lunch. The only thing that let the meal down was the roast potatoes, perhaps they were bought in frozen! Waiting for the dessert menu took so long in the end we skipped it and ordered coffee instead. One of our friends ordered a hot chocolate, clotted cream was served as a replacement to whipped cream, it just curdled!!! The landlord works the room wonderfully and makes time for the guests but just needs to get the food back on track like it used to be not that long ago.

We went for a Sunday lunch. There were a choice of roast meats available. We tried the Welsh black beef. Unfortunately, the beef was quite standard and dry at the edges. The roast potatoes were dry and tasteless. However, the other vegetables that came with the dish were better and generous in quantity. Adequate meal but nothing special. Visited this pub couple of years ago had lovely meal always said we'd go back. Was up that way this weekend, how dissapointed myself and husband ordered chicken curry with rice and chips. Sat outside lovely sunny day couldn't believe how quick the food came out, no way was the chips freshly cooked they were definitely warmed up and as for the curry it tasted like that cheap powder you buy in super markets and whisk with boiling water. It had hardly any chicken in it. Waste of money to say the least won't be going there again. Looking back I wish I'd complained instead of keeping quiet not to make a fuss I'm mad with myself. Waste of our hard earned money. That meal was cheap and nasty .

We had lunch at the Inn, and were seated in a snug adjacent to the main dining area. The food is uncomplicated , but benefits from the use of largely locally sourced produce. Visited on Sat 20th April with my hubby and son on route 2 Pembrokeshire for a week's holiday. We have passed this pub for years but this was the first visit but by no means the last. Firstly we were given a warm welcome which sadly is lacking in a lot of places these days. There was also a huge birthday party arriving at this particular time around 1pm ish but in no way did this hold up our service. I ordered one of the Specials of chicken with a creamy tarragon and white wine sauce which was absolutely sublime, hubby had a fab mixed grill and my son had steak with mash and gravy. All meals were of a high quality and we all said it was best food we have eaten in a very long time. We will be back again in Aug along with my Mum in Law and we now have a dog. Not sure if dogs are allowed inside but I don't mind sitting outside in the rain with food that good.

Popped in on our way back from a sunny day at Dinefwr. Noticed the car park was full but went in anyway. We discovered that they had a party of 64 from a car club for dinner and were informed that we may have a wait a while, up to an hour. Still we had our drinks and chatted and within the hour our dinners came, spot on and my wife is a vegetarian who didn't fancy the meat substitute so asked for a vegetable dinner. No problems, everything arrived at the same time and it was lovely, a real treat. The staff were pleasant, helpful, efficient and attentive. We pass the Cottage Inn frequently but as its near home never pop in. I have changed my mind now and will purposely stop for food. Nice selection of beers as well though I couldn't try any as I was driving but was informed by the chap I was with that it was good stuff. Oh and they are open all day every day. excellent.

Stopped here for an evening meal, wish we had driven by. Not sure how they cooked the lamb chops, I can only think they must have boiled them in water for 15 minutes. The result was long strips of fluffy fat covered in a brown slop which was complimented by the green water from the undrained peas. Best thing on the plate were the chips The Duck was not a lot better. No crispy duck breast here, instead you get a fatty duck breast covered in a sauce from a jar. “Probably” the worst meal I have had for many years. Certainly the most expensive rubbish we have been served up. Never again.

Recently visited this pub with family after it looked like a lovely country pub from outside. Once we went in and were shown our seats (which were very cramped between other tables and the noisy, busy bar) a waitress proceeded to drag out a very large chalk board and propped it on a chair right in the way of others, next to our table and told us this was the menu (very strange and not a lot of choice!) then about 30 seconds later asked if we had chosen what we wanted to order from the menu to which we replied no, as we had only just glanced our eyes on the board! This was repeated a couple of times and we felt very rushed and uncomfortable. Once the food had come it didn't look or taste the best standard for the price we were paying and a lasagne was pretty burnt on the top. Also some soft fizzy drinks arrived flat! It took us 2 long attempts just to get some sauces as the first waiter had forgotten about us. Once some of us had finished eating, the staff were soon at our table to take away our plates away despite some of us still eating! We felt this was very rude and again felt rushed to eat, pay and leave! One lady behind the bar seemed very rude to us as we were paying and lacked a great deal of customer service with her comments and attitude! Wish i had read the other 1 star reviews now and taken our money elsewhere to the highly recommended pubs close by. Won't be visiting this place again and don't recommend anyone going with a group of family! Disappointing.

Our third visit to this pub for a meal and likely to be our last now for food. I had a club sandwich made with mother’s pride style bread with bland chicken and bacon and salad - it was so ordinary, for nearly £9 and left an unpleasant after taste such that when I got home I needed a coffee to get rid of it. My wife and daughter had burger and chips and that too was plain and equally unremarkable. I don’t understand the seemingly good reviews from others. I had to double check I had the right place for this review. The quantities were large but I would rather have had less food and better quality.

Stopped by on my way past. Lovely weather, so chose to eat outside. Food was out quickly and it was amazing!! Very large portion size - not that I’m complaining!! The steak was cooked perfectly and the chips were some of the best I’ve had. Too full for a pudding, but they did look lovely. This place has a lovely atmosphere both inside and out. Highly recommend.

We've just had another lovely lunch at the Cottage Inn. This was our second visit and the food was just as good as on our first visit. Staff were welcoming and friendly and it was a nice touch that they were able to speak Welsh. We had chicken and mushroom pie for the main course and a delicious, flavourful apple crumble for pudding. Large portions of comfort food! Service was excellent. There is a large, ample car park. We look forward to our next visit.

We chanced upon the Cottage Inn and although quite late, we were offered a full menu by the very helpful staff. We both opted for the 2 course Sunday lunch dinners and were not disappointed. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive in the main lounge area where the atmosphere was homely and relaxed with a lovely log fire to keep us all warm. The food was plentiful, very tasty with a good side selection of veg on offer. Our choice of fruit crumble dessert proved to be an excellent choice too.

this Pub Restaurant is a regular monthly venue for a Classic Car Brunch organised by our friend Terry Davison the brunch is excellent value with free coffee/tea top ups. This time round we had the usual brunch the went on a car run to the Dolaucothi Goldmine, unfortunately, it was closed when we got there. We subsequently returned to the Cottage Inn for a Christmas Lunch with mulled wine & 3 courses. Our hosts we very friendly & accommodating, the food was plentiful serving 25 plus people at once certainly challenged them & they coped pretty well, food was excellent. An interesting & enjoyable event for our Group.

Lovely lasagne - ask for more garlic bread as you order, you will want a second piece. Clearly local beef (superb flavour) & everything about it was delicious as well as very satisfying. Another meal included crisp prawns in crumb, & a chicken liver pate with toast and great onion marmalade. Breakfast is pretty well anything you want - scrambled eggs, sausage, mushroom, tomato - all very good. Eat in the bar area for great atmosphere, but there are nice quieter corners too.

We arrived around 3:45pm it was very quite in the Inn. Our son who has MS walked to the enterence as I missed there was a ramp available for wheelchair users. We were made very welcome by all the staff we spoke to and they were very accommodating to our son's needs. We had different starters which we all agreed were very nice ( I had the Whitebait recommended).

We went here last Saturday after a sad family occasion. There were 18 of us altogether and the table was booked for 1.30pm. The staff were very good and knew of the occasion so were very understanding and not at all pushy or wanting to rush us. The menu was just right, a good mix of old favourites and half a dozen specials, including faggots, mash and mushy peas!! which I haven't seen on a menu before. The waitress came and took our orders for starters and mains. For the time of day the pub was quite busy, some regulars and some on holiday. Both my husband and I had the garlic mushrooms, when it came the sauce looked very thick and there was no sign of the toasted bread that came with it. However, the taste was wonderful and the toasted bread was under the garlic mushrooms so all was well. My husband had the gammon and I had the battered loin of cod with chips and mushy peas. Others had the faggots, curry and salmon. The loin of cod meal was beautiful, the cod tasted very fresh and the mushy peas were excellent. My husbands gammon was cooked to a tee and there were clean plates all round. The only criticism if I could find one was that the mains came out quite staggered and as we were sat in the middle of the seating arrangement some to the left of us were well through their meals before those to the right received theirs. My husband had the mars mousse for dessert which, whilst tasted very nice, was extremely calorific. Coffees and teas were also served. The staff were attentive and asked if everything was alright but were not overbearing and left us to it for the majority of the meal. For a large table, they were on the ball, worked quickly and efficiently and then left. £300.00 for starters, mains, desserts and coffees which we thought was a very fair deal. It was also very nice to have such a lovely unrushed place to meet up with family again. Many thanks to all concerned

Granted this was a Saturday night; but I specifically asked whether they could fit in a party of eight for that evening at 8pm. The Cottage accepted our booking. Whilst the food was excellent, I think it is not acceptable to have to wait an hour between Starters, and Main Course: and for several of us to have to re-select because the restaurant had exhausted its supply of duck. The waiting staff were very good; but were, obviously, stressed-out by the sheer number of covers. We decided not to stay for desserts.

This was our first trip to The Cottage in a couple of years. Although it retains the same ownership, the standard of the food has deteriorated sharply. Put simply, mine was disgusting. My wife's steak was passable, but overly seasoned. On a positive note, the beer is kept very well, and the pub is clean. However, my main course was shocking. I ordered faggots, mash, and mushy peas. The faggots reminded me of the medieval cannonballs I learnt about in history, the mash was an orange colour, and horrible, whilst the gravy which accompanied the meal was lumpy and tasteless. The only reason I did not demand a refund was the fact we were with a party, and I did not wish to embarrass friends. However, we will not be going here again. Very disappointing.

We stayed Friday and Saturday night to attend a family wedding on the Saturday in nearby Llandeilo. We booked on a bed and breakfast basis but on the Friday night eight of the family had a meal there. The food was very good.On arrival the owner told us to let him know of anything we required and he would endeavor to meet our needs and my goodness was he true to his word.We all had an excellent hearty breakfast on the Saturday morning served by very pleasant and helpful staff. We had transport to the wedding and on to the reception. Following the wedding breakfast at a pub about a mile or so from the Cottage Inn we wanted a short break before the evening celebrations. One of the family phoned the Cottage Inn and he came and picked us up and took us back the inn to freshen up. He would not accept any payment for this. The Sunday breakfast was once again excellent.I can truly say that the owner was the most hospitable and friendly landlord that I have ever met as were his staff. The inn was busy daytime and evening and the owner is a workaholic.I would recommend this inn to anyone but make sure you book accomodation and meals in advance as it is so busy.

I went here for my evening meal whilst I was working in Wales. The food was home cooked and really nice. The thing that made the difference for me was the gentleman who looked after me while I was there. It was greatly appreciated, especially when dining alone all week. Thank you!

If you like a nice beef steak then look no further! The chef buys his meat from a small Swansea butcher and it’s both great quality and well cooked at an amazingly low price! It’s a pub as well as a restaurant so whether you are looking to eat or just have a beer, it’s great! The only downside is that Doombar is the only ale they keep, you would expect a local welsh beer.

We recently booked and visited this establishment for a Sunday roast / 93rd birthday party, (not me by the way!) as we were staying locally for the weekend. Well what can I say!!, as soon as I arrived, the outside looked like someone’s house in this tiny, yet beautiful village, however once over the threshold it became apparent how large and beautiful the inside of this pub was, even Doctor Who would’ve been impressed with this tardis! I and another family member were greeted by a warm and friendly faced landlady, and she was a lady! Asked where we were from and made us feel incredibly welcome, then she let herself down by undercharging us for our pints £4.50 each!! At home in Wiltshire I pay £6.50 for the very same pint. We were shown to our own large table (11 people), set on our own. This restaurant was impeccable. The food was perfect with some difficult family members dietary requirements, even the chef came to the table which turned out to be the landlord, what a nice guy he was too. This place was so good, I felt only obliged to buy the landlord and landlady a drink to say thank you for looking after us. After giving the 93-year-old the bumps to celebrate, we left happy and fulfilled. Thank you guys!
