I had an unfortunate experience at this cafe. At 31 weeks pregnant, I needed to find a toilet during a journey and made a detour into Wetherby, and this cafe was the first place I found after parking. A young waitress informed me that the toilet was for customers only. I explained my situation and asked to speak to someone senior, hoping for some understanding. The girl led me to a lady, who I assume was the owner. Despite being visibly pregnant, she reiterated the policy with clear disdain. I mentioned again that I was pregnant, hoping for some empathy, and she reluctantly allowed me to use the toilet only after making it clear that most people tend to buy something afterward. Shocked but desperate, I agreed, used the toilet, and purchased a bottle of water before leaving. This interaction left me feeling bad about myself. While I respect their policy, it was a weekday morning at around 10 am and the café was practically empty, so this felt needlessly petty. It costs nothing to be kind and empathetic. A disappointing experience from one woman to another.

Nice spot and our expectation was clearly higher than what we got. I ordered hummus with raw veg and a warm pitta. There was a reasonable amount of hummus. A very small thin pitta and possibly the thinnest four pieces of cucumber about the same for carrots a few bits of pepper and a few leaves for £9.50!! Absolute rip off. Staff were more bothered by who was using the toilet than anything g. The thin slice of fruitcake was ok at just under £4 but very dry. My husband had an awful tuna crunch panini which had microwaved to within an inch of its life. Well over priced food, not particularly well made and what a rush to get us out and the next ones in. We got the bill before we had finished and told not to rush! Waitress hovered so much we just finished and left. There are far better places in Wetherby as we later discovered.

Overpriced , went here yesterday for lunch i had a jacket potato the only fillings i liked was beans but didn't want beans so i asked for salad with it so when the waitress brought it it was served on a side plate with a bit of salad the potato was very small priced at £7.50, the waitress said they don't put much salad on because a lot of people don't eat it and it gets waisted but i didn't have any other fillings with mine, my auntie had a ham toastie a thin slice of ham on just normal sliced bread priced at £6.50 would of expected maybe farmhouse bread.

I would give this venue 0 stars if possible. We called for a snack on my husbands birthday and was initially impressed with the venue and menu. We politely asked if we would be ok to sing happy birthday to my husband in the garden with a very small cake we had brought with us (we have dietary needs). Rather than politely saying they don’t allow this (we wasn’t even wanting to eat the cake as we had bought Icecreams / soup etc- we just wanted to mark the occasion as we had met our daughter who lives away for an hour), the owner was really rude and accusational about the fact we hadnt bought full meals and had asked for some glasses of water as we were thirsty. I said I understood and would find another place to sing. I then went upstairs to use the bathroom and heard the owner talking loudly about me to her staff in a very rude manner. I went back down and asked to talk to her again privately. I reminded her of politeness and the fact if she had spoken reasonably to me I would have just bought some cake from there - I had been respectful and asked in the beginning. I am astounded that a small business owner treats customers this way and having read reviews can see it’s not the first time she’s been unnecessarily rude. She mentioned some people come in to hardly spend money and use her facilities etc. I’m sorry if this is an issue, but we were spending money and would have recommended this place had she not been so hostile. Treat others with kindness….especially as a small business that works on reviews and recommendations. The waitresses on the other hand were very lovely and friendly- a credit to a horrible business owner.

I had arranged to meet my family at the Cottage Coffee shop which is next to a large free car park. Unfortunately as we walked through the car park my son slipped over on the slippy leaves turned his ankle very badly and was covered in mud. On arrival in the cafe the owner could not have helped us enough. She gave us an ice pack for my son’s ankle offering ibruprofen and generally making us feeling very cared for. Coupled with the lovely foods ( best pumpkin soup I have ever tasted ) and the really polite serving staff it was a wonderful visit despite the circumstances.

We popped in on a rainy Monday afternoon for coffee and cake. There was a family there when we arrived but they left leaving only us 2 in the cafe. We both ordered coffee and cake. We were sat right next to the kitchen and the door was open so we could here the staff chatting and then a microwave pinging, twice. We can only assume it was for our coffee as they were piping hot and the cakes were served cold. We ordered americano & flat white so we assumed the coffee was from a proper coffee machine, it did not taste like it was!? We can only guess they have a jug of filter coffee they heat up in the microwave? The cakes on display look amazing but only tasted average, a bit dry if anything. We had lemon drizzle and apple & blackberry crumble. Not a good look to be covered in cling film although inside nice glass display cabinets. As the building was once a house the rooms although quirky are a bit small and cramped. It is situated in a lovely spot though with fabulous gardens so I am sure on a sunny day it is very nice to sit outside where there is lots of chairs and tables.

We always remember this absolute gem, just off the A1, next to the large free but sometimes crowded car park. We generally have Coffee or Tea and scones. Although the food and service is excellent these days it’s a little expensive, but I understand the pressures of running a business like this today.

We stopped in Wetherby on our way back down south and were really pleased to find this welcoming coffee shop. The cheese and ham toastie and beans on toast were excellent. We visited this café on a day out and were looking for somewhere for a bite to eat after a lovely riverside walk. An excellent find with a beautiful setting by the edge of the river. The staff were attentive and the service was quick. We had a pot of tea and a scone and toasted teacake, which were excellent value for money. They also serve light bites of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, Panini’s etc. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again the next time we are in the area.

2 paninis and 2 drinks £20 plus. Paninis came with pathetically small salad - one piece of lettuce, one slice of cucumber cut in half and one small plum tomato. also cut in half. The chicken in the paninis was poor and seemed to be the 'formed' stuff that comes in a pack, cheese was bland, but the mushrooms were okay. I found a hair in mine, but thought may have been my own, but I did see the cook come out to another customer (to apologise for a wrong order) and she wasn't wearing a covering on her long hair. The drinks were unusual to say the least. On the way out bought some duck food, a ridiculously tiny amount 50p. It was disappointing. Also noticed that it isn't very accessible for people with walking issues and very difficult with a wheelchair as the seats are quite close together and there are slopes and steps. Location is great but our advice is to stick to tea/coffee and cake.

We come to this cafe regularly to have tea and coffee after our walk but today I was hungry and ordered a toasted sandwich which I shared with my mum. It was lovely - ham and cheese and they accommodated my request not to add pesto. It was tasty and crisp and came with a nice little salad. The portion was large and the prices are very reasonable. The tea was also lovely and came in bone china cups. The service was excellent - the waitresses are very friendly and accommodating and they made a fuss of the dog (dogs allowed outside) giving him a dog biscuit! All in all great food and excellent service- we will be back.

First time visiting for lunch. Cute little outdoor area but over priced for what it was. Quick service. Panini was dry so asked for some mayo and eventually was brought a practically empty bottle. The side salad was a couple of pieces of lettuce and cucumber-hardly a salad. Scones were ok. A nice location but overpriced for the value of the food

Our first visit to Wetherby for many years. This quaint cafe with outdoor seating is in a perfect location about 100 yds from the main free car park (follow signs for Parking Riverside). It’s a large riverside car park and we had no difficulty parking at 11am, however by noon it was getting quite busy, it was a gorgeous day so to be expected. We had not read any reviews of the cafe prior to going but it was in such a fantastic location we thought we would give it a go. We are so pleased we did. The meet and greet was very really pleasant, Covid precautions adhered to and we were seated at the last outdoor table available. Although it was a busy lunchtime we were quickly brought menus and our orders taken shortly afterwards. There is a nice variety of items on the menu and I decided on the beef chilli which was one of the nicest I have ever lasted, served with tortilla chips, cheese, warm pita bread and a salad garnish. My husband had a panini and a pot of tea which came with an extra pot of hot water and served in a china cup and saucer. I was able to get an almond milk latte which was appreciated. Everything was spotlessly clean and shining. We will undoubtedly return, thank you for making our day out even better. Well done!

Further to me pointing out earlier that on my visit to The Cottage Coffee Shop Wetherby on October 25th 2020: I was advised that my debit card payment had not 'gone through' for the £3:80p and I had to re-enter my payment; I now find on my bank statement that it has now gone through twice.

Loved the garden, it was a lovely sunny day. The drinks had no ice or lemon, and were expensive. The food was poor quality - reformed chicken, cheap orange cheddar, tasteless chutney, beef chilli consisted mainly of kidney beans, tiny salad, inedible vegetable soup (cubed vegetables over-cooked in a bowl) - small portions except for the toasted paninis which were large but tasteless - all very expensive for what was served. The waitress was young and pleasant but failed to ask us why a lot was uneaten. We intended to have cake and coffee but after the terrible experience left after drinks, sandwiches and baked potatoes. A real waste of money. We should have complained but our elderly mother/grandmother was treating us all to lunch (we don't get the opportunity to meet up often) and complaining would have upset her, subsequently spoiling our day. We stopped off at the coffee shop for afternoon tea. I have to say it was a different type of afternoon tea. Sandwiches were tuna mayo, ham and then cheese. They were a little plain for example it was 'just' ham and 'just' cheese, there wasn't even cucumber on the tuna mayo. But they were nice. There was a mini scone and then bite size cake bits, a square of flapjack, caramel shortbread, a mini trifle and a couple of other bits. I did miss the Victoria sponge and carrot cake type of option to be honest. The location was lovely though and we sat in the garden. I loved the little Nik naks on sale in the shop. It was a real shame that they didn't take card payments though so make sure you have cash for all your food, drinks and other bits.

A friend recommended this place. We called in during a day trip to Wetherby. It's quite charming (and was helped by our visit being on a gloriously sunny day), although I would take issue with the reviewer who mentioned the "fabulous view of river", as there was a fence blocking that view (the café is next to a private house which has the fence, presumably to stop tourists peeping in). This didn't really matter to us but if you're expecting a view of the river, take a flask and sandwiches and sit on a bench by the river.I had tea, my partner had a strawberry milkshake, we both had Banoffee Pie, which was very nice. The cake selection was a bit limited but we enjoyed what we had. Why do so many places have teapots and milk jugs which pour badly? Both my tea and milk slopped out of their receptacles. Despite this, we both had a nice relaxing time here.

If you are looking for good home baked food in a lovely setting next time you are in Wetherby, look no further. My wife has said I have to make special mention of the scone she had (with the jam and cream of course), which she tells me is the best she has had in a long while. I had the apple pie which was also worthy of the same praise.

Tried the lemon scones with lemon curd, they were just out of the oven and very scrumptious, found this place as it's just at the entrance to the riverside car park and you can sit outside, really nice.

A converted cottage, although it very much retains its homely cottage feel: sitting outside you feel as if in someone's garden, a welcome break from the town centre. A good cafe menu with wide range of cakes in particular. Cheap and cheerful: 2 lattes, a lemon scone with lemon curd, and waffles with banana, maple syrup and ice cream and still change from a tenner, so cannot complain! Worth a visit!

Really lovely setting ,calm, peaceful ,delightful view.Made very welcome .Quickly served and we really enjoyed the salads we had .Would really benefit from a larger sign outside or one the side of the building because it is so easy to miss.I was sad to hear about the lady who had problems about using the facilities if you werent a customer.Given that this is so close to a car park I can understand that it isnt a public loo and if they didnt enforce this I am afraid they would have a long line of visitors just wanting to go to the toilet.

Lovely find, hidden away just alongside steep entrance to car park. Better signage would improve access for all. Really enjoyed the rural and rustic verandah setting, good service and dog friendly. Bathroom facilities are upstairs, so not accessible to all, ditto craft rooms on x2 floors. Compact and bijoux. Recommend the lemon scones. Well priced, homemade fayre. Well worth a visit.

Close by the river with a lovely outdoor seating area garden. If you are lucky you even get to see the ducks who come into the garden. The food is all home cooked and very tasty.

Used to be lovely but new owners don’t have a clue. Whilst the food is okay, everything else has gone down hill. Menu wise I’d suggest you advertise a quiche as a quiche, not a tart. You don’t stand a chance of hearing your party, the acoustics are shocking. As for the clientele it’s full of screaming and I mean screaming brats. So if you fancied a nice relaxing lunch with friends, I’d suggest somewhere else because it won’t happen. And the owners don’t care, that’s the sad part. Perhaps you need to advertise that you are more of a crèche than an overpriced cafe.

Called in for drinks, one weekend night out. I thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing, as I used to come here clubbing 20 odd years ago. Brilliant atmosphere & choice of drinks. Superb building too. Will be back again sometime soon hopefully ...

Lovely old pub, I've been going for years, sadly can only give a one star review for now as I've recently witnessed the new landlord speak to customers like dirt.

Buena comida, buena relación calidad-precio, gente encantadora a cargo, un entorno agradable, recomendaría totalmente el café BLT a cualquiera.
