We had Sunday Lunch after reading the reviews and was very disappointed with the quality and portions and when we questioned The meal portions we were told that is it, We ordered mixed meat Sunday roast and got two palm sized pieces of (pork, tastless Beef dry and over cooked) meat. The veg came 1 plater between 3 We also ordered 2 portions of fries and received 1 plate and was told that was 2 portions, the staff weren't interested in anything we said and we were glad to get out and put it down to a bad experience.

Booked in online, this was a smooth process with no complications. We arrived 10 mins early and where show to our seat by a polite gentleman. The food and service was excellent throughout. I would recommend this pub for a nice meal after our experience.

Arrived ad hoc, bit late to book. Was welcomed and helped out with a great table. Prompt friendly service and as usual great food. Unfortunately prices are high just like most fine dining locations and the cost of living we are all dealing with but this is to be expected. Warm exceptionally clean and a polite team makes for a great evening. We will continue to visit and recommend.

We had been driving around between Scarborough and Bridlington for 6 days looking for the ideal place to eat and we found it last night. What a place! Wonderful friendly greeting; magnificent home cooked food with large Yorkie, and pudding to match. I asked my partner and my sister if there was anything negative to say? Only thing I could come up with was we didn't have time to stay all evening. Best eating house I've come across in Nth Yorks. Thks very much, John, Jenny and Janet.

Gone downhill terribly compared to what it once was. Really paired back menu that is actually difficult to order off as there is so little to choose from. 19.15 and ran out of burgers! Ordered a bottle of red wine. Had to be reminded to bring it and then it was literally freezing when it came. Was told that was the last one as well and it was taken to the kitchen to warm up. Absolute amateurs. Not enough staff. Everyone running around like blue a*"'ed flies nobody knowing what anyone's doing. They tried to take my unfinished cocktail away twice! Used to be a quality, professional outfit but since COVID it has absolutely fallen off a cliff. No fish on the menu apart from fish and chips. People will get wise and stop coming. Couple behind us complained as well, as he wanted a burger as well, had to choose something he didn't want, like I had to, and he chose a steak. He said to them for £32 he'd expect the steak to be better quality and better cooked as he thought it was almost inedible. Oh, and be prepared if you complain to hear all the usual excuses. Lack of staff, new 'chef' etc etc etc. So whose fault is not ordering enough burgers and storing red wine in a fridge cold area. The owners need to stop being bone idle and get involved in this failing, embarrassment of an establishment because the current staff have no idea how to run the place and are drowning. I'm going to the Farriers from here on in. I'll pay slightly more (and I mean SLIGHTLY more because the prices are comparable but the quality of EVERYTHING from service to food, is not) for a better experience, as this is just slightly better than normal pub grub. The Farriers clearly have proper chefs. Not a kid with a deep fat fryer and a microwave!

Lovely Sunday lunch, fantastic service

We were very lucky to be taken for our lunch to the Copper Horse by our son and his partner. We went for Sunday lunch on a cold bright January day and the pub was warm, traditional and welcoming. The service team were excellent and extremely attentive. Our waitress was first class and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was very good with beef, pork, Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. The only reason I've given the food a score of four is that it could have been a bit warmer and the pork was slightly overcooked. Have to say though the beef was fab. We would definitely go back.

Environment just beautiful, been several times and never failed and this time was no exception! Although staff did seem a little overworked on this occasion but would still not put me off going the food was delicious, keep up the good work !

Nice Christmas food, but main course Turkey nice but sparce, not really any veg, x pudding lush, x no coffee or chocolate offered as per the set menu, staff clearing table as we where eating, think they wanted to get home. We left a tip of £15, not the £29 service charge, as not sure do the staff get it?

On Friday 16th December 2022, 16 of us ate from the Festive Party Menu. My fiancé was one of the group who had the Halloumi, Honey Roasted Squash & Orange Salad starter which was dry yet did not come with any dressing at all. Yes, they did provide a separate dressing option when asked, but we were surprised that we had to ask for it. My main course was Slow Roasted Beef Brisket which was as tough as old boots. I thought I was unlucky but someone else in our party had it and it was exactly the same. Although the meal choices were pre-selected, maybe they would have let me choose something else, but I wanted beef and not turkey or Salmon. We were a large group and I did not want to cause a fuss or have to wait whilst everyone else got on with their main course. This is not the first time that the two of us have been disappointed with our experience at The Copper Horse and we only went because it was the venue chosen by the organiser.

What a delightful place to dine. Plenty of parking. Welcoming, and relaxed atmosphere with polite, friendly and attentive staff. An excellent variety of food and drink catering for all tastes. My beer battered fish and chips was delicious and cooked to perfection.

One star for the young front of house staff who were very pleasant. No stars for anything else I’m afraid. Terrible food at high prices.

Good selection of food. Very friendly staff and dogs are welcome. Have been quite a few times. Especially for Birthdays and Anniversarys. Really great food.

We were very disappointed with our Sunday roast lunch. We ordered beef and pork for £15 Our plates were cold. The food hardly warm. We had two pieces of pork and the smallest piece of beef I have ever been served. Quite appalling. I spoke to the manager who was apologetic. She said our drinks would be deducted from the bill. I said that was not necessary. I later discovered there had been no deduction at all.

The food was below average and arrived just warm. Staff are not aware of the menu and quite frankly very disappointing. Over £80 for three of us for Sunday lunch is just over the top. Wouldn’t mind if the food was top notch but no where near! Will not be going again. Used to very good but gone down hill massively.

Enjoyed a fabulous Sunday roast in a pleasant atmosphere. Staff were friendly and efficient, very welcoming on arrival. Food was of a very high standard and was a treat to have fresh vegetables (as some places often serve frozen) can highly recommend

Beautiful pub, great location, stunning interior, great menu, and exceptional staff. We only popped for a drink - almost dined but changed our minds. The manager is clearly a hero and super professional - brilliant at attending to customer needs, I observed and was super impressed. The only negative was my husbands beer was flat as a pancake, and my white wine was only just cold.... which was a shame. It was so quaint however that I would absolutely return and give it a second chance. Such a lovely feel to the place.

Went for Sunday lunch. Very accommodating even though we were a large table. Atmosphere is terrific, really impressive and enjoyable entertainment themed decor within a solid, wooden beamed and floorboards and lovely environment, with very comfortable furnishings throughout. Deceptively large interior. Really, really dependable Sunday lunch, great Yorkshire pudding and gravy, vegetable selection superb and perfectly cooked, tricky combo is that... Pudding looked great, especially brownie and crumbles but can't comment as the kids are the lot, so didn't get a look in. I'm not taking them next time. Staff very good, helpful not intrusive yet friendly, thanks all! Place is easy to find, has a quality website and ample parking. It's not perfect, but it's pretty close. Nice one!

Some great pints and a descent menu. Mussels were nice. However we had a roast and it was poor....not much flavour, poorly seasoned, not hot, sub par for the price. The staff seemed rushed off their feet too. Improvements needed in the kitchen flavour wise.

A disappointing visit. The Copper Horse used to be one of the best restaurants we've visited. Great food, fantastic wine, local brewery ales, topped off with the most magical atmosphere from the theatre influenced decor. This visit, on a Sunday - our first in maybe 8 years was very different. The ambience is gone, no longer are the many pictures, articles and incredible photographs that adorned the walls in what was an intimate and personal collection from years gone by. Instead generic "art" that could have come from Dunelm or The Range are placed on what feels like empty spaces. The food is okay, a reduced menu that seems to focus on the grill menu rather than beautiful and locally sourced produce. The beef was not pink, and only two roast potatoes swamped in under seasoned gravy. The best bit was side veg and don't get me started on pudding... dry sticky toffee pudding covered in a sauce that's hotter than satan's armpit is not what I'd bargained on when I ordered it. Gone as well is the wonderfully diverse wine menu and nothing to astound an ale lover. Instead we had to settle for an underwhelming American IPA - nothing local or even from Yorkshire at all. So if you're looking for a mediocre meal in what now feels like a generic gastro pub, knock yourself out. Otherwise, try somewhere else.

Deservedly popular. More of a restaurant than a pub, although if you're just after a pint or two, the excellent, friendly staff would be happy to accommodate, although you might struggle to get a table at busy times. All food sampled was excellent. Both the price and the size of portions reflect that this is not just usual pub fare, although you could easily pay more for smaller portions elsewhere. The belly pork was every bit as good as other reviews might suggest. Limited opening times, Wed-Sat, 5pm to 9pm, Sun, 12 noon to 8pm. However, two cask beers are offered, from breweries such as Black Sheep and Great Newsome.

Went for a family Sunday dinner on holiday after reading the good reviews. We were not disappointed! The kid's roasts were an amazing size as were the Adults. Odd thing to comment on but the Toilets were lovely too! Friendly staff who were accommodating of an inquisitive toddler watching them work. 😀

This was a difficult rating, the pub itself is very good, smart and clean, the staff very pleasant, but, had booked a meal for 7pm, only to find half the menu was sold out! The meals we did have were excellent, calamari starters, salmon and parmesan chicken for mains, except one of the stated sides with the salmon didn't arrive and we had to ask for extra salad, small selection of puds, again one of which was sold out, given the quality of the food we had it should have been a 4 star.

Just had an amazing & absolutely beautiful meal celebrating my 70th birthday with my daughter, son in law and my special grandson Cooper. We read the reviews before booking this morning and we wasn’t let down one bit The service was just perfect and as for the meal was just outstanding ... cooked to perfection.. well done to all

Just had a meal at The copper horse. Orderd drinks, 15+ mins later asked could we please have our drinks ? Overheard a waitress saying... just tell them the tills have crashed.. 🤔 . Food arrived, the chips with the fish were cold & greasy, some fries were brought out. Another couple waited ages for their food. On the plus side, lovely place..just a few niggley bits .. and need a fork with spoon for desert, standard.

Blonde waitress just returned from Majorca was lovely, food was just ok, white bottle of wine was warm even though it was in a wine bucket (hardly any ice in the bucket, had to ask for more). Seemed a popular place, food far better than the pub next door (Mayflower), nicer atmosphere too. Would try it again.

Cold plates overcooked roast potatoes and overcooked carrots otherwise would have scored higher. Wish I had known gravy already on plate would have preferred it separate.

On holiday in Clayton and just took a chance on going for dinner to The Copper Horn on Sunday and the service, food and atmosphere was excellent. Came back Wednesday to find the same thankyou so much Angus and all the staff the Blairs.

Spent a week in seamer with family went 5 times out of week would have gone 7 but they shut Mon tue the food is fabulous as is staff they carnt do enough been using this place about 7 years and highly recommended all best bests Wilmot family hartlepool

We are staying in Cayton and wanted a nice roast dinner, The Copper Horse was suggested on google as we needed gluten free options. The food was amazing and the service was second to none! I highly recommend to anyone thinking about a visit. The decor added for a real decadent ambiance with the splendour of the theatre. Dogs were welcome to.

Went on a sunday, lovely setting and good reviews, however, we waited quite a while for meal, overly priced for average food, also dogs were allowed in the restaurant area, close to us , wasn't impressed they were not assisted dogs just two big ones, real ale was good, the foxhound in Flixton better value

Not The Copper Horse I remember. Bland food and an atmosphere more suited to a lessee pub chain. e.g. Young couple with young family who set themselves up at the bar, set up electronics for their children and then the dad disappeared and returned with a multi-pack of crisps! Real shame.

Very nice staff and the service was excellent. The food was very nice but to be honest we've had better for less money. The starter, venison scotch eggs were the star of the night but the Beef brisket was quite tough. my wife enjoyed her garlic chicken with mushroom sauce. Overall, very nice.

Beautiful Sunday lunch, a bonus is that I had a gluten free version which included everything the ordinary Sunday lunch had including Yorkshire. Loads of gluten free options on the menu! Sticky toffee pudding was amazing! Cosey welcoming atmosphere and we could take our dog into the bar area.

This is a lovely pub/restaurant full of character of bygone British celebrities…one of the areas has photos of Ken Dodd and others who would perform at Scarborough back in the day….it just makes it feel like a pub with history. Table service for drinks and food, food was delicious, I had the wild mushroom risotto, husband had a lamb shank, chocolate Brownie for dessert was superb. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

I ate at the copper horse last night with a party of 18 of my work colleagues . We all enjoyed our food and had a wide variety of the menu choice. I can highly recommend the brisket of beef it was amazing and the white chocolate panecotta was delicious

My husband and I had a meal in the Copper horse on Friday evening. I have to say the food was lovely. The service was excellent. We would definitely go back and certainly recommend.

Saturday evening meal for four. Beautiful gastro pub with top service, lovely menu based around beautiful produce, delicious food and great drinks including cocktails. Highly recommend, it's a must visit if in the area.

My girlfriend's meal was very nice just don't go for the beef roast,the beef I could of rode bear arse to Egypt on,the veg was cooked in the morning and shrivelled up ,the Yorkshire was hard,the only thing was the broccoli that was edible .this was my second attempt as the first one went back to the kitchen to be regurgitation by the dog before reappearing on my plate

Christmas Eve had festive menu Turkey dinner sadly big letdown..... starters nice.... main turkey event well here we go ....came plated up with veg 3 sprouts ...really.....and red cabbage under turkey ok if you like it but ruined meal for hubbie. Mentioned to waitress and ignored issue... Had to request to speak to manager who offered another main or complimentary desserts...we had desserts and they were ok. price of two courses for festive menu £21 each seems ok but be warned re veg on plate. .....How bad practice for a restaurant and establishment like this not to offer veg separate and doubt sunday dinner would be served like this .... and will definately not be doing a repeat visit....and would therefore not recommend to anyone as feel badly let down ....

Well, I have to say, that overall I wasn't impressed. My wife and I just visited for a carvery (plated). The starters were monkfish tails that my wife said were beautiful however my salt and pepper plus chili mussels were lack lustre. No seasoning and I counted 2 chili flakes. The sauce (garlic and white wine) was fine. So, when the dinners arrived, we asked for extra gravy as there wasn't a lot , which then got brought and lastly and a good 5 plus minutes later, the vegetables. Now I didn't get a pic of the veg but in a bowl was cabbage, carrots, leek and parsnip slices. These were dry, shriveled and like rubber as clearly been microwaved. Also, with the main dinner, the meat was dry and looked microwaved and the roast potatoes were anemic, rubbery and cold. We had to send it all back. Even the waitress said it looked awful. Second time round was like a different meal altogether and good. This is now my second visit where we've had to send food back. For such a prestigious place, it should get it right first time. The owners/manager needs to review what's going on. Would I return. No is the answer. There are better places out there. Disappointing as this horse has run its race.

Didn't start well, my dad ordered John Smiths when it came it was cloudy we sent it back it was replaced and this was the same, waitress didn't seem to know what she was doing. Meal ok

First time I have been here and I was really disappointed. We were quickly seated and we really liked the look and feel here. Very cosy. We ordered and the main courses were brought quickly. Mixed roasts was on the whole okay. Half of the veg was burnt black to the point where it was impossible to tell what it was. Crackling was the size of a postage stamp, but everything else was great. Sort of went downhill from there. Eventually managed to get dessert menus and then we were forgotten about. After over 30 minutes I got bored of waiting for a waitress to come back and went to the bar and ordered our pudding. The cheese cake was supposed to have a biscoff bed. I assume this is what the ice cream was sat on. If you run out just say. It was obviously crushed up digestive biscuit. The crumble was just flavourless mush. If this was a cheap place to eat then maybe things could be overlooked. Staff are polite but really do need to be more organised actually look after customers. Not sure if I would, go again 3 stars was generous.

Found just searching Google, so glad we chose to book. One of the nicest Sunday lunches I've had for a very long time, will definitely be returning. The decor is beautiful such as cosy, welcoming vibe, staff and service was 1st class. Dogs are made very welcome.
