Aylsham is a cute market town where I had digs 40 years ago. So, we went on Market day for breakfast and loved this smashing cafe - full of life and bunting. We had full English breakfasts and coffees with toast and were set up for our journey home. The cafe is about 100 metres from the main square, is dog friendly and is wonderfully welcoming with a wide choice on the menu.

Calling in at The Conservatory we were delighted to discover they were dog friendly. It's a lovely, bright, place with very friendly and helpful staff. Nice clean loo too (very pretty wallpaper!). We chose to share a bacon, brie and onion marmalade which was served on two separate plates and was SERIOUSLY yummy! Two piping hot lattes accompanied our lunch and Scamp was offered a drink too. Thank you!

My wife and I popped in for our morning coffee whilst visiting the town for the first time, having been drawn to it by an ‘A’ board advertising the cafe and the fact that it was dog friendly - a rare thing today. We found the place to be clean and spacious and the staff friendly. Our coffees were fine but nothing spectacular.Alas, having finished my coffee I couldn’t wait to get outside to breathe some fresh air - the atmosphere inside being thick with cooking smells and resembling an old ‘greasy spoon’ of yesteryear. I did notice an extractor on the window near where we were seated but it wasn’t switched on.This was a shame because I would otherwise recommend this cafe to other dog owners who must, like us, feel like outcasts to cafe owners in what we believe is a country of animal lovers!

We popped in for a quick coffee and ended up having a snack as well. All I can say is, it is a very nice cafe with some tables outside as well as plenty of room inside. The great thing was the menu which was very comprehensive for an establishment of this type. The coffee and food was very good and the service excellent. Will definitely return when next in Aylsham.

Four of us visited The Conservatory and enjoyed a delicious evening meal. A good choice of freshly prepared main courses, desserts and starters were served by a friendly waitress. Relaxing atmosphere, lovely background music and a small corkage charge to bring your own alcohol. When they realized it was my husband's birthday they surprised him with chocolates, a candle and 'Happy Birthday' music - an appreciated gesture. The Conservatory is predominantly a cafe and is only very recently opening on Friday and Saturday evenings. We recommend trying this establishment for an evening meal.

This place is fantastic. The food is of high quality and the staff are great. If it's busy there can be a wait for food, but it's because it's all freshly prepared. I don't understand people getting annoyed and complaining about the wait for food, especially at lunchtime and busy periods. If a place is busy you should expect to wait for freshly prepared food! If you can't wait go to a chain fast food restaurant!

We called in for lunch today at about around 12.45 pm. We sat at a table outside and waited for 10 minutes for our order to be taken. Drinks came fairly promptly. We then waited for another 35 minutes, so we just paid for the drinks then left. As we were leaving we were told the food was just about ready, but we declined. Yes, the cafe was busy, but when the waitress took our order she didn't explain that there may be a more than 30-minute wait for food. If we'd known that, we would never have ordered. At no time while we were waiting did any staff come and apologise for the delay. Clearly, this place can't get its act together during busy periods. Best avoided.

Visited for breakfast, took a good 10 minutes for a waitress to take the order despite it being table service . We asked her to clean the table and she spot cleaned it, when it really needed a full clean. Then we had to wait at least 30 minutes to get served the smallest, blandest vegetarian breakfast on earth (for £5.50) and bubble and squeak. Once two fruit juices were added it came to £15 which is too much for the poor service and small servings. Didn't feel like good value at all. We later found two proper tea rooms close to the main square, so will try those next time!

I enjoyed a pot of tea and a scone in the bright and airy tearoom. It was spotlessly clean and the staff were helpful, I would suggest more signage to let customers know that orders are taken at the table and it is not counter service. I wasn't sure and I noticed most other customers weren't sure if they needed to order at the counter.

First visit. All ok. Not clear on arrival if you order at counter or table service. Pleasant staff. Slightly disappointing standard of toilet facilities. Sink and shelf with liquid soap on need a good clean. Not over keen having the floor cleaning bucket in there either. Windowsills in main bay need a good wipe over to remove dust and dead insects.

Got taken there for brunch and what a treat it was. Everything cooked the way we liked it, just enough to make you feel as if you have had a good meal without that awful stuffed feeling, very prompt service, could mix and match things on the meal, reasonably priced, lovely staff, lovely clean café, would definitely go there again when next in Aylsham. Was in this evening for a prearranged group meal, there were forty odd of us and although there was a 'set menu' we had the choice of three dishes for each course and from the plates coming out to the tables it looked like all three choices were equally popular and this was confirmed by all the empty plates returning to the kitchen! The dishes I ordered were fabulous and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were attentive and polite. All in all am excellent evening. I will be returning and may even take my partner with me to treat him to a coffee and a cake.

What better place to have lunch than this! I tried the homemade curried parsnip soup that had the sweetness of apple but just the right level of 'bite' with the spices. My partner had the posh cheese on toast and it was creamy and delicious. The Conservatory is bright and airy and service was friendly and attentive, no delays. I didn't have room for afters but the choice was extensive, all homemade. Definitely an eatery I'll go back to!

Visited a couple of Saturdays ago as a last resort as Old Tea Rooms and Biddy's full. Appreciate this is a larger venue and not "cosy with beams" but it felt soul-less to me. My partner and I sat at a table but it didn't appear clear whether we ordered at the till or a waitress would come over so sat and looked at menu deliberating what to have. I had decided on a cream tea (it was early afternoon so was expecting this to be available) and my other half had a panini. I was told they's sold out of sweet scones and only had savoury. Disappointing as I imagine people would like a cream tea in the afternoon so I settled for a toasted teacake. My partners meal in all fairness looked appetising and was soon devoured but the teacake was dry and so the butter did not soak in making it moist and pleasant. Perhaps I just picked the wrong item but regrettably i won't be coming back for more. Can see why other establishments in the town do a good trade.

My first visit to the Conservatory. Busy as expected on a market day and raining!! However there was enough room as the tables are spaced so that it is not cramped. Although bustling, the service was prompt, efficient and friendly. I ordered coffee and "blondie" cake. Both were scrumptious and they even had time to enquire if all was fine with my choices. Great homemade light meals on offer and generally competitively priced. Would definitely visit again.

Visited twice (8th and 11th July) when we were down here on a family holiday from Scotland. The cafe was very busy on our first visit for lunch but a waitress acknowledge us when we sat down and ensured us that she would be over for an order when she was free. As a waitress myself we were more than happy to wait as we understand how stressful it can be when there is a lot to do. Considering how busy they were we didn't have to wait that long before our coffee and food was served to us, both of which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Later on in the week we popped back and tried one of the delicious cakes they had on offer, with the coffee and walnut being my personal favourite! The cafe itself is airy, clean and roomy making it a very pleasant place to sit and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. The service was also very good and the all waitresses were friendly and efficient. I understand that you are a fairly new establishment so I wish you all the best for the future!

Visited today and sadly disappointed. Wandered in about 3.30, greeted by staff member on way in but that's the last we saw of her. A clear notice tells you to take a seat and a waitress will be over to take order. We sat we waited. One waitress went on break, lighting up a cigarette right outside entrance and wandered about watering plants whilst smoking it, still wearing her serving apron while she was at it ! Not a particularly good good look. We still sat we still waited, another customers food was served, the staff member walked past us without acknowledgement in the end we got up and left.

These days so many cafes and restaurants pack as many tables and seats as possible into their premises, often making for an uncomfortable dining experience. I was pleased to see that the new owners have avoided this and the cafe continues to be light and airy with plenty of room.

Having recently changed hands and had a modern facelift, I was bitterly disappointed to find the coffee had also had a makeover for the worst.......weak and tasteless.......The soup had obviously been microwaved and was cool on the outside and burnt the roof of mouth off in the middle..........complained to the staff who looked to terrified to mention it to the new matron oops owner.........All the prices have been put up....presumably to pay for the matching crockery and trendy look.......I used to be a regular.....but will now go to Blickling where the coffee is proper and the food is real and reasonably priced.............2/10
