The Comfortable Gill Inn in Warrington

We were sad when this pub closed so delighted to see it reopened today. Lovely inside, friendly staff. We ordered Two Sunday dinners, one beef, one turkey both were really good. Very tasty and veg cooked perfectly. We will definitely return and good luck to the new owners.

The first time we have eaten here since the new owners have taken over. Very clean and polite staff. Robbie the Bar Manager is a credit to the place. Fabulous food, great portions at great prices. The cask beers are top class. You can tell from the drinks that the lines are kept clean. Long may it continue. If you haven’t tried I would highly recommended. We also had our dog and they were super dog friendly. Offering water and a treat. We will definitely be returning.

The pub was very nice put the menue is very poor .mostley burgers a nd tapas .the manageress can stand criiticism .i said to your menui very basic No sandwiches on or pies she said we got tappas .came out to collect glasses and just ignore us . This manageress wants retraining when we only was trying to help the pub to make a succes of the Buisiness

A little hidden gem in Glazebury....very family friendly, great garden with kids play area and football nets backing onto the farm! We had a delicious dinner here and highly recommend the steak! We will be back soon!

This is a very family friendly pub. The Sunday lunch was amazing and all home made and extremely tasty. A fabulous large play area at the back, which my grandaughters enjoyed thoroughly. The staff couldn't do enough for you . Recommend you give this pub a try you won't be disappointed. The surroundings are cosy and everything is very clean.

Thai menu on a Sunday. 2 courses for £20 with a choice of 4 options for starters and 4 for the main. Fishcake starter was 4 fishcakes approx 4mm thin and 4cm diameter with a dip, not much taste apart from being fried and no salad or anything on the side. The main was fish which cost £2 extra in a peanut butter type sauce which tasted quite nice. But with just rice it again could do with some sort of veg.

The Thai event was amazing, good quality food at a very reasonable price.

We have just ate here the food was outstanding and good value, very friendly highly recommended

Please anyone given a fine for parking on this free to use carpark by civil enforcement appeal , fight back don't just pay don't be fooled or intimidated by the bullying tactics. It's not right it's not fair and because of this the pub has lost my custom and countless others I'm sure.

This is worse pub / restaurant I have been to in a very very long time. They are trying to pretend they are a local country pub when it's like saying McDonald's it's a 4 star Michelin restaurant. First off all you have to type in your registration onto a key pad with no signs telling you this but what's worse it sometimes recognises the reg but other time does not . I informed the bar man and he just said nothing to do with them it's a parking company and they have emailed them but got no answer and that 6 weeks ago. Asked what would happen if I got a fine said nothing they can sort it with parking company. I think he forgot to realise its his customers that are getting shafted and he could not care less . Then the food . If I would say it makes McDonald's look gorme cuisine. Tasteless bland ping and ding food . Frozen chips frozen veg . You can always tell it's frozen veg when the water dilutes the gravy. Chicken was more the rubber than plastic chicken toys in tesco lol. The beer charging extortionate prices pretending there in Cheshire. Its Glazebury one could argue its still leigh really . Its no wonder its empty all time Nd been up for rent for a good few months . The 2 guys that run it as a couple need to remember it's not canal street you can't do what you want, charge what you want and have zero customer care skills just because of the location . If anybody takes this over just do everything opposite to these guys and sort the carpark out and you might do well .

This worse pub /restaurant I have been into for a long long time .its a loval pub pretending to gastro country pub because its in Glazebury pretending to be in Cheshire. The only thing Cheshire about this place is the outrageous prices. Even worse than the shocking prices is that you have to put your registration in on bar even though there are no signs telling you to do this . 2 the guys that run the place say it sometimes does not accept the registration and when told what happens if this happens nothing to do with us was the reply . So you go to there pub ahd could get a fine because of there faulty machine that's nothing to do with them. There reply was we messaged them a few months ago no reply . Its really no wonder its up for rent ahd empty and has been for months . The food omg were do I start . Frozen chips frozen veg rubber chicken that's worse than actual rubber chicken toys . Every thing is ping and ding . Dnt advertise as home cooked food when McDonald's is more home cooked than your food. The beer is outrageous high its on par with stockon heath prices and Manchester City centre . No customer service get fined for parking there and food is better at McDonald's. There are plenty nice places in Culcheth, leigh,Tyldesley basically anywhere than here . I would rather starve than pay these extortionate prices for ping and ding bland tasteless food. Aviod this place like the plague. There is a reason ots empty all time and up for rent

I received a parking fine over 2 years ago and there were no signs on the table. Couldn't be bothered with all the hassle so eventually paid a fine for the worst meal I have ever eaten. Would rather be over charged for food at bents, as at least they provide nice food and free parking with no threat of a fine. I know at least 10 people who have been fined at this pub for simply supporting a local business.( Not just myself) Such a shame as the pub is a beautiful building and I remember it being good home cooked food and free parking back in the 90s. Another local pub decimated. :-(.

Fantastic home cooked steak and ale pie with steak cut chips, veg and gravy. Really generous portion sizes (couldn't finish mine!). Cozy pub with real fire and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

Been a few times now and each time staff have been lovely and helpful and the food has been great.

I will not be visiting again. I don't want to be fined for parking my car there.

Extremely poor food. Be very careful if visiting this pub. We were hit by a £100 fine for parking on a near empty car park. Avoid at all costs. Dreadful place and very upsetting to receive such a fine!!!!!

Arrived in a group of six. Ordered our food. One of the choices we chose was not available which we were then told about so we changed our choice everything was okay. We was sat waiting for our food. All the food came out apart from one meal then Sat and waited 10 minutes for the last meal to come out to them be told they don't have any left this could have been said to us when ordering but it wasn't, as you can imagine it is not very nice for five people to be sat there all eating and one person not be eating. We then asked if there was any sort of complementary drink that could be offered as a form of compensation to then be told no. Sorry we cannot do that. Overall, the service was not very good and will unlikely be returning

Visited the pub after umpiring an amateur game at the local Crockett club we receive no payment for this other than expenses . It was raining so did not notice the signs in the car park . Nothing on the tables to warn you that you have to give in your reg number , two staff working they never said any thing about the car park . Mailed the manager after phoning them to see if they would not charge us for the parking , never received a response . Avoid this establishment at all costs . Cost over sixty pounds for a pint x 2

We came for some dinner and it was poor. We ordered a cheeseburger and a tuna mayo melt - the burger had no cheese and the tuna mayo melt was really goopy and the cheese was all congealed - it was not good. The service wasn’t great and the chef complained that he had to get us cutlery and sauces as no one else had brought us any. Their was just an overall strange ambience with tension between staff

Even though not many people in the inn on a week day , found staff to be really pleasant, meal was great had the mixed grill which I can recommend 😋, would I use again yes definitely if in the area. Would I recommend, the answer is yes. Nice pub marks out of 10 is 10 Even though eating on my own didn't feel as if on my own. Patrons friendly as for the staff.

Be very careful if you intend to use your car to travel to the Comfortable Gill and park there.I have recently had a Stroke and was rushed to Salford Royal, at the very same time my terminally ill wife was admitted to Wigan Infirmary.This can be checked and verified !! There was no parking charge as my friend and I had drinks in the pub,but the aggressive attitude over the car park ....was absolutely disgusting and puts my health at serious risk, through needless stress post Stroke.

Interesting visit. We went to Bents garden centre so decided to pop in for lunch. We had seen it on several occasions and wanted to visit. It's a great looking building inside, warm and toasty with the fire going and quite busy. We found some seats luckily and ordered food at around 1.20pm. We were told not long after the order that they had run out of pizza for our 3 year old so we changed the order to sausages and chips. After an hour of not being served and a group who arrived 30 mins after us getting served, we asked when the food would arrive. The serving staff did not seem to know and asked who took our order. After some confusion we received our food an hour and a quarter later, but a burger was brought for my husband and not the steak he ordered. This had to go back and he had a further wait of 10-15 mins for the steak. This meant he ended up getting his food just before 3pm which was not ideal. They did however give us free drinks to compensate. Despite this, please do not let it stop you from visiting. This was our experience and it was a busy time of day. From what I saw, I think this was an exception rather than a rule. Staff were friendly, prompt and polite overall and the food when it came was tasty. Overall a good place to visit for a meal and a drink.

Just had the pleasure of dining in the comfortable Gill for the 1st time I had the all day brunch and my wife had the vegetable lasagne and both were excellent really tasty home cooked food at a great price with really friendly staff and a good selection of beers

Been a couple of times. Really busy place, got there not long after it had opened and they had already sold out of the meal I wanted. Food was very good and cater really well for people with allergies. Staff really friendly. As it was so busy there was an hour wait for food not long after we ordered, it was a bank holiday though.

Really tasty chicken and bacon baguette for lunch. Loads of crispy back bacon. Friendly staff and nice surroundings. Will definitely come again

Friendly staff, food disappointed , never seen a lasagna like it! Was just like a thin bowl of cheese. Roast potatoes and sprouts didn’t taste good, certainly not home cooked.

The food was hot, well presented, and Grandkids needs were took into account. Excellent service, nice outside area for the kids to run riot between courses. The young barman was a legend, loved his job, and nothing was too much for him. Would definately recommend, and will certainly be back. 👏👏👍

Got a £60 fine and I only went in the pub for 20 minutes for a pint. The bar staff should make you aware of this when you enter the pub. I understand enforcing this in a busy town centre, but I think it’s ridiculous to enforce this at this pub as it’s in a fairly quiet location. I won’t be returning to this pub and will warn others not to go here either. Disgusting way to treat customers!

Great atmosphere lovely pub nice food . Fresh

Fairly typical old style pub, wooden floors, wood burning fire and no super loud sound system. Place is dog friendly so non-doggy people should be aware of this. That said it's never like a dog pound. I've been several times and only ever seen 2 dogs. So, dogs aside, food tends to be homely and of good quality. Not a massively extensive menu but in my experience quite often the size of a menu can affect the quality of food for obvious reasons. With a fairly modest menu size the ingredients can be fresh and the chef accustomed to preparing the dishes. So never had a bad meal here. Staff are friendly and professional and prices are about average for the sector ten quid a dish or so.

Avoid civil enforcement car parking will issue fines for parking on a free to use car park.

Stopped by after driving past one day. Lovely little spot, small and cosy. Friendly staff. Very clean. Hoping to go back for some food.

Dined in this place today hoping for a nice meal after a busy week. We both ordered the two course beef Sunday roast followed by Sticky toffee pudding. When the main course arrived it looked disgusting for a start. Everything on the plate looked as if it had been thrown on. On top was a limp and soggy looking Yorkshire Pudding which, when I lifted it I found a sorry looking mixture of veg. I tried the carrot and swede mash, the cabbage and cut green beans. They were just inedible. The roast potatoes were like no other roast potato I'd ever tasted before.... terrible! All of this swimming in a watery gravy The roast beef was just about ok. Everything was so obviously from the freezer and we both left about half of it. Waited about 20 minutes for the desert to arrive and when it didn't I asked the waitress when it would be arriving she asked what we'd ordered. After telling her this she then went away and promptly returned with our puddings. We could hardly get our spoons through them as they were so hard. An obvious sign they'd been in the microwave too long. Not a nice experience at all. If you're reading this you're i probably looking for some nice to eat. Just keep looking!

Had a lovely sunday lunch & dessert, was lovely!! Hot drinks a let down for the price, sent them back twice - think the machine had broke on them!

Celebrated our daughter Hannah's 21st birthday meal at The Comfortable Gill yesterday and i couldn't praise the place enough. Neil and Steve went out of there way to make the day perfect, they reserved us nearly half the pub, let us decorate with banners and balloons, and for that we are so grateful. Would also like to give a massive thank you to the two fantastic chefs Stephen and lee for the 12 starters and mains which were all flawless and all of us eating at the same time (can't of been easy). Also a big thanks to all the bar staff which were so friendly and so helpful. So again a big Thank You to the whole team and see you again soon. Mark and Lynn.

Really good food ,went on Friday afternoon, not to busy

A friend of mine and I both called in on our way back from Leigh we both had the same meal which was Gammon, Egg, Chips and peas and we both found the staff friendly and the meal was very good

Gem of a place . Lovely country style pub with open fire and very cosy. The homemade food is fantastic especially for the price not a massive menu but really not needed as good selection. Friendly staff and service. Top marks .

Not good , the food was shocking Chinese sticky ribs and chips , ribs burn dry chips re heats salad out of bag no dressing ,bbq sauce ! Avoid this place . Sorry it should of never left the kitchen.

Food not good . Chips, where warm ups lots of grease, sticky rib . No dry as the bone it was guled to the dressed salad was straight out the bag. All dry. Did not eat it . Nice pub decor. But avoid if poss if you are hungry

Good food reasonably priced we where looked after well by staff. The pint of real ale I had wasn't the best. The furniture is a little tatty but that wouldn't stop me from visiting again. Nice change from a chain.

Purely on reading feedback and the stupid idea of ANPR car parking..I've decided not to even bother trying to book a table for 5. Leaving customers to sort out fines on their own..REALLY !!!!!!!! WOW 👎

Terrible Food. Beef Sunday roast was like shoe leather. Steak and Stout pie meat also very dry. Veg on both plates looked old and reheated several times. Table beside us was also just pushing food round their plates and muttering similar comments. Suspect the only reason this place is still open is because of unsuspecting trade from Bents garden centre across the road. Staff were okay and drinks fine but food is terrible, menu way to big they should reduce menu to 1/3 of what's on offer and perfect them instead of offering so much choice.

Oh gosh, well we had a long, boring wait. Then the food arrived. The Yorke puds were burnt on the bottom and I mean blackened. Not the greatest of food and we won't be going again.

Have eaten here a few times, when going to have a mooch around bents. It helps as it’s dog friendly. The food and service is always warm and welcoming. In particular, the lady with blonde hair, behind the bar, lunchtime, 10th December, has great customer service skills. The young lad did make us chuckle when he asked “is the food done with” 😂😂 It may have been the owner, who also pointed out a different table we could use, away from the door, which would be warmer. Again, excellent customer experience. Would highly recommend, based on our numerous visits.

Visited today with my 2 year old as a last minute thing after visiting Bents. I had a steak, onion and mushroom baguette. The steak was cooked perfectly. They accommodated my daughter by making her a cheese sandwich (she insisted this was what she wanted) even though it wasn't on the menu. Loved the log burner and decorations up. Gave the pub a nice cosy feel. The table next to me had a roast dinner which looked amazing. Will definitely be back soon:)

Was told they serve Sunday lunch, when we got there was told they'd run out of Sunday lunches! Food we ended up with was terrible, the worst I've had in a long time, will never eat there again!

Shocking how bad this place really is, 85 mins between starter and main, frozen bland potatoes and dry beef, truly the worst Sunday dinner in the north wedt

I booked a week before. On arriving was told over hour wait. No clean table so could we sit near the door. 20 mins to get drinks and given dirty glasses. A further hour for less than average food. Coffee machine broken. A week later a parking ticket for £100. I went to see them and they were rude, not their fault. They always ask for your car reg. Well they didn’t. They have a note up advising. Only if you go to the side of the bar they sat us at the door. A note is on each table. When we ate there and when I went to complain none on that table. What a dreadful place.

Amazing night. Celebrating my friends birthday. Her daughter was a massive hit on the Karaoki, and her son was too. The owners Steve and Neil were FAB! So welcoming and entertaining. First time there but we will be back for sure. The food was fantastic too. Top marks to chef.

Called in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Struggled to get a table! We were told that food would be a 20 min wait so no big deal. Staff were lovely and made sure that we had entered our car details into the system. They get overrun by Bents customers using their car park so understandable. Lovely atmosphere. Food were good portions. Home made steak pie was lovely. We will definitely return.

A very pleasant atmosphere, a very good menu and well cooked food. I have no photos as I was with my son and his wife and we had spent a very good visit to Dents to see the Christmas display.

DO NOT VISIT. I went with my family. I walked in and it was quite busy so I had to wait to be seated. The staff said they were busy and if we have not booked could not fit us in. Fair enough. I had a quick conversation with the staff about Christmas bookings and left. 2 weeks later I receive a £100 parking charge. I phoned the pub, spoke to the land lord and explained my situation. He was very rude and said it wasn't his problem and to just pay the fine. This sounds like a money making scam to me. STAY AWAY DO NOT VISIT.

Food awful, cold food which they said they would microwave up for me, staff very rude when I said I didn't want microwave food. Do not go.

I went for the the lamb shank roast and was very tasty but not enough vegetables and gravy, other than that was good! Service was great, very kind staff and a lovely authentic pub. Annoying car park check in thing, I’ve had friends stung by these before at another pub and there was nothing the owners could do as it’s sold off to a third party so make sure you’re putting your registration number into the iPad at the bar, that bar staff do make you aware of this also. Hot chocolate is a go to!
