Stank of urinals. Staff not interested in serving us. Used to be our go-to for pre-theatre drinks. Will not ever enter again.

A truly lovely bar full of ambience. Extremely relaxing with a great variety of drinks. The gin selection is particularly good. Next door to the Theatre Royal (which has currently been connected to the theatre) it is a great place to have drinks before a show but also a lovely place to just relax. Many performers usually have a drink in this bar at the end of their performance so many famous actors from TV and movies have visited here.

They've completely destroyed the soul of this place. What happened?! Gutted :(

This bar was closed for months to “refurbish” only to end up being miles worse? The curtains removed, the interesting carpet removed and a bland replacement fitted, all the interesting articles on the wall removed, wall painted a single dull colour as apposed to the vivid selection present before the refurb, and for what? The drinks selection has also been reduced - ale pumps removed, less whiskies and other spirits All in all, a genuinely dreadful refurb. This bar went from a unique, interesting, historic establishment to a bland, soulless premise that is a shadow of its former self. Sad!

Dull as dishwater. What on earth have the owners done. They took something that was the heart and soul of Brighton and sucked all the personality out of it. Now it's just a bland box pretending to be something it used to be. The George Lazenby Bond of pubs. Avoid, go somewhere else, support real local businesses.

When you wait in anticipation of a magical bar being reopened and you got in and it's had the heart and soul ripped out and stamped on.... Congratulations to whoever thought this was a good idea

Oh no, what have they done to this (formerly) wonderful gem of a pub! Popped in last night and my heart sank. Soul has been ripped out of it. Now feels like a student union rather than an historic cozy boozer. All the real ale pumps have been removed too. How can you have such a treasure and then think doing what they’ve done to it is a good idea!! Gutted!

Ordered the scrambled eggs and salmon, this came as tinned salmon mixed in with eggs rather than slices of smoked salmon on the side as is usual (and what I’ve had at this cafe before). Charging £10 f

The food in the restaurant is good. The chef clearly has talent and the service on the night we dined here was very professional - better than some restaurants in Brighton/Hove. We had a Groupon and t
