The Colombian Grind in Southend-on-Sea

Great value for money. The coffees are superb. The breakfasts are great made with local products. First class service Now called Leigh Road Cafe. New owner!

"...No I couldn't do that to nicole, I think I love her and I've never loved anything apart from a car or a sandwich" Looking back at it, the talk of loving a sandwich was aspirational, especially with what we were about to endure... Accompanied by my Football Friends, we set off to this week's choice of venue. The Leigh Road Café. Unknown territory to most in the group, but it came on high recommendation from a trusted source. A good mixture of orders this week, so all possible angles covered. From a full English, with a brew from the working man's kettle, to your plain and simple sausage sarnie (which I may add would have been a baguette if they hadn't run out - point deducted). If we'd have asked for a long wait we might as well have gone looking for that tartan paint... Although, that was put right by the excellent service we received from the friendly staff. They put a smile on our faces when Big John was referred to as "my little lovely", on more than one occasion! Our overall score this week, is a solid 7. We come here regularly for breakfast and the food is always top quality and very tasty. Perfect for a quick breakfast!

Now under new management and trading as Leigh Road Cafe, we popped in for a bite of lunch today. I had one of the best BLT sandwiches I've eaten in a long time. The staff were friendly and the new owner has made lots of changes which are definitely not detrimental. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside in the sunshine. It is a great start please keep it up! Well done.

This Cafe has been great the last few years but now even better great tasting food and Coffee lots new products! New owner has made great progress in such a short time frame.

I have only ordered sandwiches from here and was not impressed. I had egg mayonnaise on granary but it most definitely wasn't mayonnaise! I tried again a few weeks later and it was the same. Don't get me wrong, if you like salad cream then you would probably like them. I'm guessing they buy the mixture in so it's not their fault but they should exercise some quality control by trying out their goods! Plus they are NOT CHEAP. I did get someone else to try a bite, just in case it was my taste buds but they confirmed it was definitely not mayonnaise! I will not try again!

We popped in yesterday for a coffee and teacake and decided to come back for a pizza today. We were not disappointed we had a huge pizza with ample toppings which was delicious! (I used to make pizzas many moons ago so it takes a lot to impress me!) Coffee is full of flavour and generous sizes. Everything about this place is generous. The staff are friendly and treat everyone with respect. The music suited me down to the ground. Yesterday it had a Columbian influence and today it was music from the sixties. I would highly recommend for atmosphere, friendliness and value for money.

Food is delicious and the staff are lovely. I’m in there every other day, I love the pastas and would definitely reccomend the chicken pesto pasta, it is tasty, filling and good for money. It is so friendly in there and I always walk out with a smile!

Went here the other day and we both had a cafe latte, which was really lovely. The food lols lovely and affordable. Cafe owner really nice. Bit small inside. Found the music great too. Will definitely go again!

We often pop in for a great coffee and today it was wet and cold and we needed lunch; the welcome was warm and they were very accommodating for our powered wheelchair- step free access! Lovely fluffy jacket potatoes and fillings, and great coffee as usual ; thanks for rescuing two wet, cold pilgrims on Good Friday!

Very disappointed. The best I can say its that it's cheap and cheerful. Food is pre cooked and then microwaved to reheat. Pasta was rubbery, 'sauce' dry as a bone. Expected better of the coffee, quite weak as most coffee shops are. Seriously, I do wonder where all the glowing reviews come from. With so many coffee places in Leigh now you do really have to be something special in this neck of the woods.

The place is run by Columbians so if you want to try the finest coffee in the world it from Colombia. Im a former Coffee and Cocoa trader and know what is good. Also you can practise your Spanish with the owners. They say they will be supplying Colombian food soon. At the moment they do Pizzas and cakes and sandwiches.

Paul and Rosario who run the Colombian Grind are absolute pros when it comes to keeping their clients happy, it was a real pleasure to visit their haven and the coffee and banter wasn't to bad either, I'll be back! 👌👍

Yes Paul the owner has this down to a tee. Great breakfasts at good value and the jackets and sandwiches - especially with coronation chicken - are excellent too! Nice friendly chats with the regulars makes this place a pleasure to eat in. Try the coffee -its real columbian grind!

Been getting my daily coffee from here for a while now. Lovely staff. Great for breakfast and lunch.

The Grind is the perfect place to pop in for lunch which I do most days. Love the community spirit this place has, the staff go out of their way to look after you, most days they have a home cooked daily special and I really love burrito Tuesday x I wish this business so much success much deserved & if you haven't popped in then why ever not get yourself down to the grind x

Tried out the Colombian grind today on Leigh road! started off ordering my usual mocha coffee ☕️ Paul the owner recommended I tried a flat white which I did and thoroughly enjoyed! I then ordered the lasagne which was a daily special. This was served up along with a salad and dressing. Once again thoroughly enjoyed it! Went to pay and was pleasantly surprised how cheap the total bill was! Thanks Paul was great and I will see you again next week!

'The columbian grind' ... with a name like that I thought "these people must know their coffee"

Had a Deliveroo order from here, food was gorgeous and arrived very quickly and still hot and delicious

Had a coffee outside as we were walking our dogs, was lovely good quality coffee. Nice service, Will return 🙂
