We like the shopping experience - decided to have latte coffee - it was cold - I asked for it to be warmed and was told (by the manager) that it couldn't be hotter - the milk would "explode" - and he was serious! Employ a professional barista!!

Pleasant little cafe spotlessly clean. Nice cakes on offer washed down by a good cup of coffee served by friendly staff

This was one of our top recommendations to our friends, the Garden Centre is a graet place to look around and there are plenty of gifts on sale, including Welsh Whisky, but the cafe is great. We had coffee and cake on our last stay, very enjoyable and we have had a good lunch there in the past.

I have previously submitted a poor review for this place because on ordering a pot of tea for two we got a huge teapot with one teabag,! But on attending with friends for lunch on this occasion it was more more more. I can’t remember what they call it but basically I ordered a ploughman’s lunch. Flip I got enough for two. Everything fresh and tasty, a warm bread cob roll with two pats of butter, a huge slap of cheese, coleslaw, two pickles, A slice of porked pie, half an apple and salad. Excellent value couldn’t fault it .

My eyes almost come out on stalks when I walk in to the coffee shop! Never fails every time. Fabulous food and the cakes are absolutely amazing! I will work my way through the entire selection. One very happy cake-aholic.

Very nice coffee shop here. Does some hot food but has a good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Plenty of seating including an outside area. Combined with a look around the garden centre and gift shop makes a nice couple of hours out.

Called here for coffee and a stroll around the garden centre before going out to lunch. We had coffee and a shortbread biscuit each. Coffee was fine but although the shortbread biscuit looked delicious, neither of us could get our teeth through the biscuit. We drank our coffee and i took the biscuits back to the counter. The assistant asked me if I wAnted to talk to the owner but there was a q and so I declined - I wasn't offered my money back.

I've eaten here on many occasions, a nice coffee shop that serves good food. In the past have called there with my relatives if they fancy a browse around the garden centre but I've also called in just or spot of lunch with friends. They serve a nice cappuccino and that goes a long way in my book!

Nice coffee shop - cakes were a bit stodgy but pleasant staff and surroundings. Of course the added bonus of a very nice garden centre to peruse helps too !

A really nice relaxed place to have breakfast or lunch. Has a varied menu and good space. On sunny days has a verandah to sit out. It has a nice setting so before or after you can wander out and see the flowers or browse in the gift shop.

I would travel the distance ( 5 miles from my home) for a cake injection- I visited today and had the choice of rocky road, lemon cake, red velvet cake, victory sponge, welsh cake or chocolate fudge cake. But....I did ask for a panini and was told it was not possible to have a panini after 4 pm ( it was 3:50 pm). The relaxed atmosphere and the cake selection are lush but maybe customer service is letting it down a tad and I think it needs a bit of thought from management to bring it's ratings up to the level it desrves. Worth a visit for an emergency cake pang though ! Not cheap either.

This is a first class award winning fish and chip shop. Fish / chicken nuggets cooked to order. Great selection of pies, fish, sausages, rissoles, curry etc. My great grandchildren love chips and chicken nuggets or pie or sausage form there together with a Slush Puppy. Give them a try!

The service was so prompt, staff are great, food was absolutely delicious. Hard to find a good cafe, it’s the only place for us now. Food was perfect and the prices are so fare compared to other local cafes. Mansel has done a great job and his hard work is giving us a great service. Thank you 👍 Neil T

Eight of us visited here for a mid week birthday meal. We all had a fabulous meal at a reasonable price. A big variety on the menu along with the specials board. Nothing was too much trouble for our waitress, who is working while at college. We were offered extra chips and we were also given cream to go with a birthday cake we had brought ourselves. The lady in the kitchen was fab too, nothing was too much trouble and the food was superb. I will definitely be visiting again.

I came home Thursday evening to find my wife shaking and crying. She had been to Tesco Extra Bridgend and been treated as a thief even though she had paid for everything. She bought a tent which had a security tag on it. The staff member at the self checkout area could not remove the security tag. When my wife went to leave the shop she explained this to the security guard who told her she needed to show him the receipt. This was in one of the shopping bags and she could not find it. All the guard needed to do was reprint the receipt which is easy to do using the club card or just by returning to the checkout and printing them out until the right one is found. It had been about two minutes so easy to find. He didn’t do that. The guard instead loudly interrogated my wife in front of other customers. The duty manager was called and he did nothing. He didn’t stop the guard verbally attacking my wife and didn’t suggest they simply reprint the receipt. Why? My wife left the store and walked to her car. She is a defenceless small woman, and she was by herself and the guard followed her. He refused to let her leave until she had handed over the tent, so stole it as legally it was hers as she had paid for it. He threatened her so she gave him the tent. The guard bullied her. The worst type of bullying. My wife was scared, intimidated, frightened, embarrassed and humiliated as other customers witnessed this and would possibly believe she stole the tent, so is a thief, as the tent was taken off her. What else would they think? Though very shaken my wife returned to the store. She asked that a replacement receipt be printed which another member of staff did. It showed the tent had been paid for so she asked for it back. She told the guard he was wrong to do what he did. He did not apologise, nor did the completely useless duty manager. The guard told her she was banned from the store, because she dared to stand up to his bullying and tell him he was wrong to treat her the way he did. The duty manager still did nothing. That security guard followed a woman, on her own, to her car and threatened her. That can never be the right action, not ever. That guard is a bully. If that is the way Tesco treat their customers then I won’t be returning there. I used to work for Tesco and out of loyalty we still shop there 40 years later. I won’t shop there again. I did go to the shop and made a formal complaint but have heard nothing. Neither the duty manager or guard were there. My wife complained on line but so far has heard nothing. The behaviour of the security guard was threatening so I have reported this to the police as threatening somebody is a crime.

Fair play, took our Nephew for his 18th, good choice on menu (nan breads a bit small tho😔) however, the food was excellent, good value for money and the service was quick. A bit quiet for any atmosphere, but what a clean and tidy pub, much much nicer than many many others I could care to mention. I can definitely recommend the Lodge to try, we'll definitely be back, lunchtime or evening, the menu has plenty of choice 👍
