We popped in for lunch and a 'proper coffee'. The café was warm and welcoming when we arrived. Relaxing ambience too. It was like stepping back in time, in a good way. After perusing the menu, which had a great choice of snacks and lunches, along with a vast selection of coffees and teas, we decided on a vegetable curry, and a jacket potato with extra toppings. The food and drinks were well presented and plentiful. Considering most of the tables were occupied, we didn't have to wait long to be served. Nor did we wait very long for the food to arrive. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Might I add, the prices were extremely reasonable for the good quality of ingredients. We were nicely full, but decided to share an apple crumble with custard, which rounded off the meal. Again, a good portion size and homemade. All in all a pleasant experience. We will definitely be visiting again.

Told firmly the grill was off and they weren't cooking anymore food. This was 2.30 Saturday afternoon 28th Oct. She lost at least a tenner we would have spent if she'd let us. BAD SERVICE and bad business. Basically we were an inconvenience. All tables had been washed down and wet. A cafe with no food? Any point being open? We left to find some food elsewhere

The coffe house in hull is in my opinion one of the best cafe's in the town centre, we have been in most of them and we always end up coming back here, very nice food and very hot coffee. The three young ladies who serve the food are very friendly, the two who serve on the weekend and the lovely young lady who serves all week, yes we have plenty of cafe's in hull town centre, but this one takes some beating, long live the latte and lemonade, and may they long serve.

Visited for the first time and will def be back. Great service, lovely food and excellent value for money. Visited for breakfast and looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.

We've been regulars here for about a year now and the food is excellent and the waitress Toni is a credit to the place. She is quick, efficient and so friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for her. Well done and keep up the good work.

The place has realy livened up. The former people who ran it was very moody. Now its so polite due to a member of staff called Toni. She, yes she is the best waitress I have ever encountered. She should have a pay rise for her amazing work. Very polite girl Indeed. Opening times should be later as its such a nice place to be.

Forgot all about this cafe . Haven’t been in since covid. So it’s always busy. That tells me it must be good. Wasn’t disappointed. Only had coffee this time but saw some lovely meals coming out at very reasonable prices. Definitely go again next time in Hull.

My partner and I come here regularly, usually for breakfast before hitting the shops though the dinners are good too. The prices are great and we love the relaxed old world charm of the place. The food and coffee are lovely and there's more than enough for the money plus the waitress, Toni, is amazing. She's very professional, helpful and friendly and we always look forward to having a quick chat with her as she's serving us. She's a natural and remembers everyone which means we usually choose to tip her for the exemplary service. Thank you.

So happy to have discovered this gem! Huge shout out to Toni who worked none stop, making sure myself and every other customer where seen to and happy, so polite and amazing customer service! Cannot recommend this place enough, I was wanting a place to grab food and do some work on my own, sometimes eating solo can be intimidating but this place has such a cosy welcoming feel for all! Perfect for quick lunch stop or a sit down meal with friends, family, loved ones and even on your own! There is even a little seating area outside which I can imagine would be lovely in the summer time Food was 10/10, so many options to chose from and portion sizes are very generous! Looking forward to my next return when I am in the area!

We were so glad to find this lovely little cafe and it’s no surprise it’s being going for long. There service from Toni was friendly and efficient from walking in to leaving and the food was excellent, serviced hot and perfectly cooked and at a very reasonable price. We’ll be back the next time we’re in town.

Came here with my wife on Thursday 06/10/22 and was served by a young lady called TONI wow how hard working and professional she is at her job from walking in to leaving which was approx 1hr 15mins she did not stop at all she also was super polite with a fantastic manner and smile we have been here many times but because of her we will return.

This is the second time we have been now after discovering 2 weeks ago. There is a good selection on the menu and the meals we had were excellent even if a bit on the large side. The prices are excellent value for money. Waitress was very efficient and friendly. This is now our place to go when in town.

We both had cheese and mushroom omelette with chips. Lovely omelette with plenty of flavour and served with crispy chips. Excellent value. We don't go to Hull very often but when we do we always eat here. It seems to be a place used by locals which is always a good thing

We went here for breakfast this morning and thoroughly enjoyed the meal that was freshly cooked and really good value. Credit to the waitress that was working on her own and it did get busy but she apologised for our wait, also to the other customers but we could all see how hard she was working (except two!!) and it wasn't a problem.

Fantastic as always. Been here maybe ten times over the past year. Consistently high quality food, friendly professional service and very generous portion at great value price. Highly recommend their omelettes. I'll be coming back again. Cheers. J.

We went to the cinema and it was freezing so we had a coffee to warm us up before we caught our busses home. The tea came quickly after ordering and was very nice

After a gap of 40 years we called in for lunch - no idea why we haven’t called before in such a long time but we now wish we had! Great service great food and really reasonable prices make this place a new must call on our list- some places are not noticed as much as they should be - highly recommended for everyone

My girlfriend and I decided to pop into the Coffee House for a break during a shopping trip to Hull over the August bank holiday weekend.We were surprised to be the only customers in the cafe when we walked in, but we came in, sat down, and we were seen to straight away by a friendly waitress who was more than happy to tell us the specials. The cafe has an offer of a cake and a cuppa (tea or coffee) for £2.95, which seemed almost too good to be true, but we gave it a try.The specials were Red Velvet Cake and Rainbow Cake, so we decided to try one each.They were both excellent! Definitely home made, and the perfect pick-me-up during a long day of shopping. Also, I am pretty sure that £2.95 for home made coffee and cake is unbeatable, so get yourself over there to try it because the place deserves to be full to the brim!

Good price for breakfast and a hot drink! Very good service with friendly staff and quick waiting times. I like how the give you scissors to open condiments! Doesn’t seem like such a big deal but it helps. Close to the train station and shopping centres. Ideal for a bite to eat whilst you’re shopping

Nice little cafe in town the girls work hard serving the tables. I did find certain meals though the portion size was not very big a little disappointed with money we played for size of meal hardly any chips more Like a small kids meal . The food it self as always been nice but I do think u should get a bigger size portion for price you payq

Spent hours in Debenhams and needed a lunch break. This is practically next door. Got the last table ,ordered food and arrived promptly. Ham omelette, chips and salad were very nice and the prices are very reasonable. A nice pot of tea for two and a pot of hot water. Good value.

We found this wonderful cafe on our recent visit to hull. We were staying at a hotel just round the corner. We were not disappointed. Had breakfast there all 3 mornings of our stay in hull. It was superb. I had the value breakfast and my partner had the deluxe breakfast. Everything was of good quality and cooked superbly. We travel to hull about once a month to see family and will definitely go back there. It beats paying ten pound for a hotel breakfast, that's not as good quality. Well done the coffee house. Not only good food, great staff too

There are not too many places where you can have a tasty home made lunch and a hot drink for £5 or £6 these days, with excellent service and scissors provided to help you get into the sauce sachets without it going everywhere. Very thoughtful. Can recommend the omelettes - cheese and tomato or even slightly off menu, cheese and onion - served with chips and some salad, piping hot and nicely cooked. We drop in regularly now if we are in town.

Had my lunch here and it was truly tasty also tables were clean and cleared as soon as diner leaves plus the toilets were totally clean

After reading the previous review my friend and I decided to have lunch today. It was very busy but we got a table straight away. We chose ham baguette with chips and salad and quiche with chips and salad. With a cappuccino and a pot of tea the bill was £12 .60. Very generous portions. Excellent value with definitely go again.

We visited this little gem last week for a bite to eat at lunchtime & will definitely visit again next time we’re in Hull. Food was fresh , very cheap with quick friendly service. Couldn’t fault the place apart from the toilet being outside (hence 4 stars) but highly recommend anyway. Great location too.

Love this place such good value . Not a posh cafe but do great meals at a reasonable price and a lovely pot of tea. Always busy so that says everything.

We recently visited this café whilst shopping and again found the service very good and the food excellent. We have been in many times over the years and found it is not so busy in mid morning. We have never been disappointed with the food. The staff have always been friendly and polite and the café is always clean and tidy. The range of food is very extensive and they do have options for vegetarians and children. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food very good.

Good selection on the menu for both children and adults. Morning paper available if you want to read, KCOM free internet within range.

On a football trip up North we stopped in Hull for a break. While walking in city centre I came upon THE COFFEE HOUSE. As there were plenty of people inside (always a good sign ) I entered and found a seat in the window. I ordered scampi and chips with mushy peas and a pot of tea. I waited about 10 to 15 minutes for my food to arrive, but it was well worth it, the scampi was nice and crisp and piping hot as were the chips. The food was plentiful and not as expensive as other places I have been to. This establishment is excellent and obviously popular with locals as it was virtually full. If I am ever in Hull again, I would have no hesitation in using again.

Popped into The Coffee House for a quick brew. I love the seat in the window. I enjoyed my coffee while people watching.

My husband and I visited here for breakfast a few days ago. It was clean and tidy as always but we found that the breakfast was not as good as normal. Eggs were hard, Hash Brown tasted weird as tho fried in off oil and black pudding was very undercooked and luke warm - why do cafés etc insist on cooking black pudding in the oven - it is meant to be fried and have a crispy outside and hot but soft in the centre. (well thats my taste anyway) - we will not be going back for breakfast again.

1st time I have ever visited this café and will be making regular visits from now on, it has an 70's/80's look & feel to it, the best description I can think of is it reminds Me of what use to be Crusader Grill on the front of Prospect Centre (Which was a great place to work & eat).

We popped in here after doing some shopping, we've never noticed it before but I'm glad we did. We ordered a pot of tea, a coffee with a toffee syrup, which I must add was incredible!

Been Christmas shopping on my own had loads of heavy bags, used to go to this cafe years ago with my husband, had forgotton how good it was. It was vary busy but the staff made you feel welcome, having lots of bags it was good that I didn't have to leave them and go to a counter etc. excellent service at the table, proper pot of tea with pot of hot water, good choice menu and a specials board. And very reasonably priced.will defiantly be back when I am next in Hull.

This has always been around in hull 25 years + if your looking for a good bite to eat and a reasonable price this is the place to be, situated in the new town area between prospect centre and st Stephens its right in main area and easy to find. This really is a quaint place with good vibe.

Had a great breakfast here yesterday. The 25p charge to swap items seems a little OTT but at £3.50 for the breakfast including a slice a toast, you can hardly complain about the price. Tea was excellent: it came with a pot of boiling hot water and the teapot (for one) had two teabags which made the tea nice and strong! Would definitely return here.

Been meaning for a long time to try the Coffee House and eventually got there today while in Hull for lunch. I had the all-day breakfast and my partner the prawn salad. The service was prompt, the staff very friendly and the food fresh and tasty. Excellent value for money.

Been in here a few times over the last few years. Such good value for money. Today I had cheese omelette with chips. The omelette was amazing very tasty and freshly cooked. Staff are efficient and service very good.

Proper original coffee house serving great coffee and food with a "smile" from the attentive owner. Often great banter. So much better than the anonymous, omnipresent CostBucks on every street corner. A real gem.

When out shopping in Hull, this has become our 'go to' coffee stop. A drink and a quick bite to eat at great prices. I absolutely love the dated decor, although I'm unsure why - warm and welcoming I guess? I'd certainly describe the staff in that way. Great full English too.

I used to come here with my family and very little has changed in all that time. One difference is the availability of Yorkshire Caviar - you will have to visit to find out!! This is a traditional no nonsense café serving excellent value food and very friendly service.

Popped in one morning with my family. Lovely little place, clean and well presented. The menu is varied and the staff pleasant. The food was fast to arrive and was freshly cooked. It was lovely food. I had a full English and couldn't fault it.

We have been in this coffee shop many times over the last few years and we have always had very good food and coffee, its recently had a re vamp but we have not been in yet to sample the new style, but either way well worth a visit.

Reminds me of the types of cafes I used to frequent with my parents so was a lucky find. Often very busy and would struggle with a pushchair although we did manage it with the right seat becoming available. Really good range of food and quality and attentive staff. Prices very good. Woukd go again.

We called in here in passing and made a good choice. Strangers to the town we were made to feel most welcome. Great selection of coffees (we had the caramel one which was delicious). I had the omelette which was light, sister had eggs on toast which even appealed to her fussy palate and another in our party declared the bacon bun one of the nicest that she had ever tasted. Plenty of locals.

Visiting Hull called in for a breakfast. Good service, nice food, well presented, accommodating; had a meat free breakfast which wasn't on the menu. Quirky decoration with a homely atmosphere - in a good way!

We went for breakfast the other week i got a breakfast for 3.10 payed a extra 50p for bacon my wife had pancakes,the food was very nice and hot plus the staff was great aswell,will call again because it's a very nice cheap place for breakfast and perfect for someone in a wheelchair.

In the city centre, this cafe is always busy. If you want a cheap, fast lunch you won‘t go too wrong here. The decor hasn't changed in years but the place is clean. There is no toilet and it closes quite early.

Been visiting this place since my childhood and its never changed it is what it is and thats a cafe were you rush in sit down order and rush out, its a stop gap. We did however stay a little longer as my friend was famished and needed to eat so of course they ordered they full english well never laughed so much in all my life. It was a basic breakfast but the sausages had us all in fits they were 2 tiny chipolatas this was by no means a meal for an adult it was a toddlers meal!! suffice to say we avoid if we want food, as I said this is just a stop gap cafe (coffee house)

Attended with OH for lunch having not been to these premises for a couple of years or more. Everything about the place is unpretentious and you can get anything from just a drink / sandwich / breakfast to much more substantial meals. I ordered a jacket potato with cheese and salad and the OH a jacket potato with ham and mushrooms.

I visit this restaurant most Thursday lunch times. The staff are always very friendly and the food is always good, freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. It's always very busy and I think it is a great place for a good value, tasty lunch.

Real food cooked to order. My mushroom omelette was full of mushrooms to bursting. Very tasty and light. The decor was a bit dated but at least it wasnt a place that relied on the usual city eating . ie burgers and microwaved meal.
