No longer Codmothers. Now new owners and called Stoke Fish and Chips. Has Amazing food. Very clean. Cooked fresh served with love. Amazing cafe with toilet facilities. Take away or have delivered also. Give it a try.

This is a great fish and chip outlet. Food is great and reasonably priced. Cheaper than other outlets close by. The food is cooked to order so you do need a bit of time on your hands, but when it's good food you don't mind waiting. Staff are friendly and accommodating and will cook the food to your liking unlike other outlets.

Where to start very unorganised the service is terrible and slow could do with a reshape overall. They should take inspiration off the dude in West park. That's standards. Thanks 👍

This chip shop is by far the cheapest in plymouth and the quality of the food puts alot of others to shame. Mark the owner goes above and beyond to give you the best service he can, we travel across plymouth to get our food from here and we've never been disappointed. Everyone should try this place out seriously

Tasty fish and chips. And good price.

Weird creepy vibes from our visit, venue smelt funny. My daughter didnt like the server and wanted to wait outside. Not a massive menu, food seemed ok, but i only ate one chip as it was for wife and daughter.

Ordered with delivero 1meal which was med cod chips and drink , arrived with no fish ? Offered money back by delivero but not a fix I.e. get the fish that’s was missing so it a low rating from me

We ordered 12 pieces of Cod, 4 fish cakes and 3 portions of chips. Everything was cooked in front of us. The fish was fresh as were the chips, and the service was fantastic. We even got an apology for the delay - but we couldn’t complain as the food was being cooked fresh in front of us. The chips were lovely, no grease at all and the fish was nicely cooked, batter crisp and the fish itself was nice and flaked without any grease or sogginess at all. A really lovely meal - thanks.

Would not advised AT ALL. They moan about putting on vinegar, the gravy was soooo watered down. The customer service was appalling, had dogs about us asking for extra vinegar and said OH WE AINT GOT ALOT, more like your trying to save money and the gravy is proof with it being watered down as much as they could get away with. This chip shop ain’t for the customers it’s for all for themselves. If I could give a 0 star review I would have. Worst place I have ever had. Chips on the other hand where ok, yup just ok

First time visiting the Codmothers this evening. Great little place. Staff are very friendly. Lovely portions and great value for money. There was two of us but was advised a large portion would be enough to feed four! Definitely recommend the Codmothers and will be returning again soon!

Best Chippy in Plymouth by far.. the chips are just right, the portions are generous and yes you can get a battered mars or snickers bar here. The staff are friendly too. I just had fish (cod) n chips it was just what was needed. Recommend. I forgot to take photos sorry!

Absolutely disgusting chips! Look like they had been sat in the warmer for days. Burnt, hard and crispy. The fish on the other hand was great. Called the shop to tell them and all their reply was “sorry but they’re not usually like that” Not good enough. Shall never order from here again.

Just what you need in a chippy, good food, good prices and a warm welcome.

If I could give less stars I would. Girlfriend Ordered through UberEats this evening, struggled to find a driver for over 40 minutes. When the food arrived it was soggy and greasy along with a number of other issues! The batter on the fish was flat, soggy and stuck to the wrapper. Stuck between the wrapper and the batter was a LONG HUMAN HAIR. The chips arrived dumped in a bag, they were undercooked, again soggy and just tasteless. They didn't salt and vinegar the order as requested (or provide any) not that it would have mattered as we discarded the lot. Honestly never been so disappointed in a takeaway, can only imagine the good reviews come from people who order at the shop as ours was definitely just sat there in a bag waiting for collection by UberEATS. Great food, huge portions, excellent value

We have eaten here before with no issues but tonight the fish was grey and lumpy, the chips pale and greasy and the burger and bun very basic. My husband had to add his own onion and tomato at home. We were offered our money back or fresh food but, honestly, going nowhere nearthe place again.

The best fish and chips and curry sauce I've eaten and the prices are excellent value for money and possibly too cheap! Some fish and chip shops are charging small fortunes but Codmothers are superb!! Well done and please do not change what you're doing 👍

Good quality fish and chips, friendly and polite staff. The batter was crispy, the chips weren't overdone and the Cod had a good taste. My only slight criticism was that the curry sauce was a little bit watery. Very reasonably priced.

A really great meal... A really great meal however, the pie was microwaved else this would be 5 stars. Curry sauce was outstanding and staff were very friendly the owner in particular. Recommend.

I have driven past The Codmothers for years and never tried it. Today was the day I tried your food. To start the portions are huge. I've got a big appetite and struggled. The cod was cooked to perfect as was the haddock. I have now found my go to chippy. To add to this review. Thankyou thankyou thankyou for using paper and not those horrible boxes. Its part of the experience and you have kept it how it should be. Please don't change.

Love this place the chips are cooked just the way I like them and the fish is always perfect. You have to try the foot long sausages too.the guy behind the counter is always cheery and remembers your regular order. You can phone a head and order to be picked up too, if you are in a rush. Would 100% recommend this place

I was visiting my auntie and thought I'd pick up some food. I walked into cod mothers and was greeted by a warm friendly chap who was happy to engage in some pleasant chat and chuckles about portion sizes. I was so surprised at how much food I got for my money and it was gorgeous. The fish and chips had good colour and crisp edges and I will certainly be finding reasons to be in Stoke for a fish supper. Lovely all round

Fui a Codmother esta noche a buscar pescado y papas fritas y salchichas y papas fritas con guisantes blandos y salsa de curry. Todo recién cocinado mientras esperamos. Debo decir que probablemente sea la mejor comida con patatas fritas que hemos tenido en mucho tiempo y una excelente relación calidad-precio. Definitivamente lo recomendaría y definitivamente volveremos.

Great value for money there monster sausages and fish are amazing and be aware. order large chips your in trouble theres enough for 4 people at least you cant moan for that price.

Just bought some cod n chips from Codmothers in stoke village. I've eaten some of the fish and one or two chips. The fish at least was fresh but the chips look and tasted like they have been reheated more than the bottom of my kettle. Seriously how this can pass for fresh food is beyond a joke. Won't be back and they should be visited by the food and hygiene for reheating food.

Good service and value for money with no comprise to flavor of the food.

I would like to start off by saying i go here at least twice a week with my friends on our school lunch break. The service is amazing and always friendly. The food is always amazing and the prices are very affordable. Overall this will always be my favourite chippy. Would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

Amazing fish and chips, cod had succulant chunks and proper chips (not little crappy bit). Staff are friendly and cook everything to order, me and the misses drive past 2 other chip shops just to eat from here. Cant recommend enough

I love this chippy, they even do mushy pea fritters which are to die for, always get one, and the portion sizes are amazing, one large portion of chips will do 3 adults.

I was recommended this chip shop and thought I would give it a try. Ordered Cod and chips. Service was efficient and left with proceeds. The chips had that translucent look of refried food; soggy and frankly inedible. The fish was better, but still did not have that white flaky quality. Hard in places and slightly grey. I ate the fish but left the chips. Very disappointing. I did give them a go but will not be wasting money there again.

The restaurant serves all the usual fried foods but I particularly like the fish. It is cooked to order so it’s piping hot when you get it. In addition the staff are friendly and happy to help. It’s clean and tidy a very nice place to buy take away

Think this has been taken over since I last went in here a few years ago. Food was freshly cooked, lovely chips hot and tasty, the fish a wee bit soggy but tasted ok. Very friendly staff and will go back

Aunque el personal es muy amable y las porciones más que generosas, el pescado seco y viejo. No fue el buen pescado fresco de calidad que cabe esperar de una tienda en los países más grandes puertos pesqueros.

Usé las madres de bacalao dos veces cuando tuve familiares que y querían probar pescado local y patatas fritas. Me sorprendió gratamente, el servicio era bueno y la comida estaba recién preparado en frente de usted. Ponen el pescado y salchichas en la freidora después de que habíamos pedido. No preparado previamente. El servicio era muy bueno, y la chica que nos servía era muy amable. El precio era razonable, no suelen cobrar como los demás. El único punto que debería mencionar las raciones de patatas fritas son enormes, así que si lo que quieres es una gran porción pide una pequeña. Sin duda volveremos otra vez

Es muy barato y te dan muchas cosas para el precio! La última vez que vino, aunque la última que fue clasificar mis patatas fritas de exageración ella nariz en su mano que fuera me 😞
