Best fish and chips I've had in a while

Our first time trying tonight and it honestly was the best Cod I’ve ever had from a chip shop!! The most delicious crispy and crunchy batter and the fish was cooked really well. Looking forward to visiting again!

Went to the cod House as our usual chippy was closed. We had sausage and chips and cod roe and chips. Very disappointing. They don't do battered sausages (who ever heard of a chippy not doing battered sausage) . The cod roe was awful the batter was a mess!!!! Wasn't on the roe just a uncooked mess in paper!!! Too much oil was just so so much oil!!!! Chips awful not hot and so full of oil and soggy. The cod house could have gained more custom from this as more people went there as other one was closed. But they blew it!!!! Absolutely awful!

Fresh fish, great chicken, good service.

Going by my one experience, the fish and chips are fine. Not terrible or bad, but not the best I've had. That said, I'll probably them again at some stage. We all have off days, after all.

The food was very tasty. I awarded one less star for service because the staff all seemed very good except for the lady who served us . my husband and I wanted 2 cod and one portion of chips , we were going to eat them down by the boats so we wanted salt and vinegar on one and just salt on the other , it all seemed too much of an effort for her , I asked for some vinegar in a little pot , another member of staff kindly obliged .

Friendly staff but slow service Ordered online for collection but order not ready. Chips only just cooked but fish was hot.

After my first time visit 5 months ago where I was blown away by portion size and fish quality, called today and I was so incensed by the small portion of chips which was supposed to be large and paid £3.00 for it, I drove back to chippy and was told that's it!! Never again I do not like being taken for a mug. Never had this trouble in London. Absolute rubbish

Always get great service and food from this takeaway. The chips are simply awesome and a curry sauce to die for. The fish is always crispy and cooked well and my wife assures me the sausages in batter are as good too. I look forward to using this chippy for a long time.

Absolutely the very best fish and chips in Beccles. Cod and chips is to die for!!!! The staff are so lovely and the place is clean and well maintained. I love the fact that I can place my order online for a time of my choosing!

Best cod and chips in Waveney Valley (and I've been working my way through the list). Fresh, fresh fish. 'Slap' chips, not at all greasy. Really tasty potatoes. Generous portions. Looking forward to round 2.

Food is normally good but service the other day was shockingly bad, I ordered off the website was told my order would be ready in 35 minutes I went down at my time paid then had to wait outside for another 25 minutes to then be told they had ran out of chips and would be another 15 minutes. I just left at this point. No point in ordering off the website just go in and order if you want to go here

Best sausages around, bar none!!

Only go here if really neccessary. The guy cooking seems to be the owner.he is one miserable tosser,never smiles and Has no interest in customers.the chips are pale and soggy,portions get smaller every year.avoid this place go to one in town centre. minut3s

Having said that I've never had a bad meal from The Cod House, there's always a first time. Tonight (18/12/20) the fish was very dry, crispy in places and dripping in cooking fat. It was so disappointing.

Very good, placed order on web site, but still had to wait for it to be cooked. Cannot see point of ordering.

The best fish and chips in and around town by far sometimes a little hit and miss but 99 % of the time really good, also like the new pager system can sit in the car and wait after paying good idea

Yet another fantastic tea from my local chip shop. I emailed my order went to collect, but was told there was a small problem and a little wait. I said no problem, when I got home to find a note on chips "sorry for the delay" and 2 free sausages!!! Was not expecting that, fantastic service as always and lovely tasting food yet again.

Food is always good, just very slow even though I pre ordered. Take a brolly with you as with current restrictions its outside standing room only.

Consistently excellent quality food. Fish is always cooked fresh to order, cooked well. No stale fat smell here, lovely chips etc. Good value for money.

Enjoyed out fish and chips and the sausages mushy peas etc others in our group had. The fish was very good but chips could have had a bit longer in pan for my liking as they stuck to paper. Chips are a personal thing as people like them cooked differently. It's also now new potato frying which makes a difference too. Friendly service and cooked to order for freshness. Will go back and it's near the quay so ideal for boaters like us.

Had fish n chips in the car which were amazing. Made the car stench for a few days but worth it. Busy place with queues but again worth the wait.

First Nights Supper. This was just around the corner from were we where staying. Popped in, ordered then waited for the fish to be cooked fresh, some customers went away & came back to collect, also orders were taken over the phone while I waited for mine. We enjoyed our food from here & next time were in Beccles would happily return for another supper of fish & chips.

For Cod sake!!! Veggie burgers fried in beef oil.... Some Fin just not right about that... Maybe the owner is just Schooling us? Definitely Cod be better... Such a load of Pollock's!!! Personally we should make the owner walk the plankton for that.. Anyway, on a serious note I really believe from the bottom of my Sole that the cod house isn't very good. Well, salmon had to say it.

The chips are sticky on the paper and hard as well and the battered sausage was falling apart off the sausage
