We've been on our way to dinner with aim to go for some drinks after it. And we've come across this beautiful stylish bar with perfect theme (that changes every 4 months). Everything there was extraordinary - staff, drinks, setting. One of the most unique places to visit.

New favourite bar in Edinburgh. We came for the fallout theme, and we're instantly blown away by the decor and props in the bar to help immerse you into the Fallout universe. I'm an absolute nerd when it comes to fallout, and the team at Cocktail Geeks nailed all the lore and mechanics in the game. Our server, Emily, was a different class. She was bubbly, informative and welcoming, and made an already stellar experience, even better! Thoroughly recommended!

Me and a friend found this place by accident and we're glad we did! The staff were lovely and the theme (Fallout when we went) was well represented by the atmosphere. The drinks were good too, would definitely visit again.

We have just visited Cocktails Geeks in Edinburgh and we will not be returning. All was great until we were leaving. After spending £16 on a cocktail and mocktail we were greeted by the most rude, obnoxious bar man (which is saying something after working in hospitality since the age of 14). My husband is a massive fan of Fall Out (the current theme) and has wanted to visit since the theme started so as we were leaving I pointed out the bar mats on the bar which had different characters on them. He picked one up and was barked at by the bar man “they’re garnishes for our drinks”. Bar mats, yes bar mats are “drinks garnishes”, never in all my years have I heard anything so ridiculous. We actually saw these “garnishes” on another table of a group that had just left and yes they left them so I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t have had one or, if he couldn’t maybe keep them behind the bar? So ultimately, we will not be revisiting or recommending this bar to anyone after the experience with that horrible member of staff. I do hope management see this and give their bar man a lesson is basic customer service as he currently has 0 skills.

Great atmosphere, staff were really fun and explained each drink. The drinks were good and taste wasn't sacrificed for the sake of the gimmick. Will be back!

Very good atmosphere, very good non-alcoholic cocktails

Good cocktails but it's the theme that makes this bar delightful. Changes every few months the interior artwork and decorations are usually very good. Drinks are usually good, but being styled with Super Mario Bros or Game of Thrones or The Last of Us makes it worth checking out.

This is a one of a kind experience. I have never seen such a passionate and invested staff. The cocktails are crafted with the wildest ingredients that mesh to meet the given theme.

As they change the theme of the place every 4 months it is giving you new experience on a regular basis. We have been at the fall out theme. Very nicely made you can see they put a lot of effort in the decorations and cocktails also. If you'd like to try something different I would highly recommend it.

I stumbled across this place via Pinterest while researching for my husband’s and my recent trip back to Scotland. We were lucky enough to be in town right before they changed themes so we were able to enjoy both Fire and Ice and Vault 131. The menus were completely different and it was fun to see everything redecorated. If you’re not familiar with a theme, the staff does explain some when they go through the menu. There’s something for everyone’s varied drink preferences, including non-alcoholic. It is a small space, even with some outdoor seating, so definitely make a reservation if you can.

A theme bar that frequently changes. Loved how committed the staff were and the decor. Cocktails were affordable and creative, but not the tastiest.

Great place and amazing cocktails

This place is great! I'm in Edinburgh for school and my family happened to be in town right in time for the Fallout retheme and all three of us had a blast, pun intended. The atmosphere was fantastic, I'm a huge Fallout fan and the attention to detail was incredible. I'll definitely be back at some point before I return home to check out another theme! Definitely recommend the Nuka Quantum.

We visited when it was Mario-themed after a recommendation from my sister, who went when it was Lord of the Rings themed. We had a great time and the cocktails were really creative and fun (even the non-alcholic ones and there were plenty of options). Would highly recommend visiting!

Edited to add photos :- Could not recommend this place enough. The staff are so friendly and attentive, nothing is too much. You get a wonderful experience with full immersion as soon as you walk through the door. Every menu has a story and every drink comes with its own unique take on that story. The staff walk you through every step and are more than happy to make recommendations for you. Can not wait to come back to Edinburgh to come back and see what the next theme is.

We didn't see before we booked that there were stairs to the main seating area so we didn't think to ask for ground floor seating, but despite being fully booked the staff were very accommodating and sorted us out. The staff were also just generally very pleasant and enthusiastic without being overbearing. The drinks are mostly on the quite complex end of the scale, having many different ingredients in them, but contrary to my experience in some other places with those sorts of menus the drinks were well balanced and delicious, the Winds of Winter in particular was my favourite.

Came in as a walk in and from doorway to doorway the staff were all inviting, friendly and attentive! All the drinks were fantastic, myself as a non-drinker had plenty of options and decided to try all 3 of the mocktails that were on offer (be warned the Siege of Bloodstone is bloody 🥵 but still delicious) Whilst I can’t speak of all the staff a special mention needs to be said for our host and server Toby; he has a wealth of knowledge and passion for his craft that is exceedingly rare to see in the hospitality industry nowadays. He guided us through all of the drinks, was ready with any recommendations or accommodations as needed, truly a master of his craft and I wish him nothing but the best going forward in his career!

The bar was fantastic! All game of thrones/house of the dragon themed the attention to detail is wild! We had Toby as our server, he told us the back story to each cocktail and gave fantastic recommendations as we were spoilt for choice. Even had lovely mocktails too

Had a great time trying out the Fire and Blood menu, everyone who served us was clearly invested in the theme and the music selection was superb 💯 recommended!

It took me a while to get this review up (we were there in May 2024) and the theme has since changed - but the review still stands. We experienced the Super Mario theme and it was so much fun. We stumbled upon this quirky little Cocktail Place as we were wandering past the station in the search for our Rental Car drop off spot. And boy were we happy we decided to pop in. Amazing cocktails, fun atmosphere and staff that explain the cocktails to you and are pretty damn funny to boot. The staff really get into it - and the costumes are fantastic. Hope to be back in Edinburgh soon and no matter the theme we will be back.

A proper northern drink, one of the best drink I’ve ever had

Genuinely really enjoyed all the cocktails and the theme, and all the staff were very attentive and friendly, and they knew all their stuff!

What a fabulous experience we had at the Cocktail Geeks! Not your everyday cocktails. Currently themed on Ice & Fire from Game of Thrones, but I understand this changes regularly. The cocktails are really innovative and different. Cool place. Enthusiastic, helpful and attentive staff.

An absolute HIGHLIGHT of a cocktail bar! We had a great time there and greatly enjoyed the current "Fire and Ice" theme. The Staff is super friendly and competent and the cocktails are a show in themselves! I've hardly ever had such creatve and delicious cocktails. Daring combinations that are however absolutely stunning of taste. Rock on, you Geeks!

An amazing and unique experience with drinks that are adventurously tasty and staff that were absolute legends. Visited twice during our short stay and stayed til they closed, they were awesome throughout. Must go back with their next theme!

(Second visit, a year later) I love the earnest attention to detail on display at this place. It’s clear from how the menu derives from the theme (you may not care about that at all) but also per drink, the unification of unique and sometimes (one imagines) quite fiddly or processed ingredients. (First review) Was expecting good things from the reviews, still ended up surprised at the quality of the drinks and (after having them, talking to the folks there) the thought that went into them. Will definitely visit whenever in Edinburgh :)

My 2nd visit to this quirky bar. Last visit was Super Mario themed. This visit was Ice and Fire themed. Both visits were brilliant. The staff so so friendly. Explaining the origins of the cocktails you order with enthusiasm. The drinks themselves are so well thought out. The details different with each one. If in Edinburgh. Give these guys a visit and see for yourself, just how great this place truly is 😁.

Arrived and seated. Party of four ordered one cocktail each. Time between ordering and receiving was good and was given a great explanation on each cocktail and the party was having a good time. We finished our cocktails and was waiting for a server to come and take a second order...waited and waited and waited. Now, this place isn't big by any stretch of the imagination at most only 6 tables inside. Server finally came and a second order was made. Great we thought, better late then never! However, moments later another guy rocked up with the worst customer service manner I've pretty much ever experienced and said "your hour is up so time to go, if you've ordered a second round then you can either have it outside or cancel it..." Experience was pretty underwhelming which was really crappy as I was looking forward to this venue. The way he delivered the "have it outside or cancel" was well rehearsed and I'm sure this gets said to a lot of groups. They were not understaffed as there was at least six members of staff working. Waste of time...don't believe the hype.

I absolutely adore this place!!! I started coming here in 2019 and have been to the Hobbit, Star Wars and the Ice and Fire themed months. Every single time you guys knock it out of the park! Every atmosphere is different and yet so familiar and the amount of work and research that go into the cocktails and the various themes and decor is top-notch. I can't wait to come back!!!

This place was AMAZING. In the desert of "drink your feckin whisky straight" that is Edinburgh, this was a beautiful oasis of fun, inventive and delicious cocktails. Can't recommend enough if you like great cocktails.

It was just an amazing experience and everyone was so nice. Would definitely recommend!

The Game Of Thrones experience was phenomenal. We heard about this place via Instagram and decided to check it out, and my goodness we were glad we did. Our "one drink to check it out" turned into five cocktails and four glasses of wine. Each menu is tailored to it's theme , and this time our nerd hearts hit it lucky because it happened to be GOT. The drinks are a little quirky, with ingredients you wouldn't think to pair together. And with it each drink has a story. What we loved was the interaction with the staff, who help you decide which drink might suit you, and when they bring it to you, they deliver the story behind it, and how it relates to GOT. The actual bar is fairly small, but it makes it feel more intimate, cosy and relaxing. We could have stayed there all evening. And did. Decorated with dragons, magic and faux pelts, it was definitely a highlight of our stay in Edinburgh.

Nice, slightly out of the way bar that specialises in themed cocktails. Check out The House of the Dragon... Not a large bar, so make sure you book ahead. Quiet compared to many other cocktail bars, so unusually, you can actually have a conversation. Would recommend.

Our server Callum might have been new to the role but he was fantastic! Such an attentive, fun member of staff who took some great pics of us with our amazing cocktails! He had so much knowledge about the drinks and gave good recommendations! We went to the Game of Thrones theme and it was so good with the soundtrack keeping the atmosphere perfect. Calum catered to the allergies exceptionally with help from his colleague Rachel and they both made it an amazing experience. A cocktail bar that changes it's theme every 4 months. It was Game of Thrones when we went which I hadn't seen but blew my friend away. All drinks concocted with links to the series and you get an explanation from the servers before every drink. Plenty of non-alcoholic options as well. All staff were excellent making this place well worth a visit!

We had a great time. Cannot wait to see the next theme! We will come again!

Always have the best time when we visit here and have been visiting for years. Such creative cocktails for every theme and the most friendly and knowledgable staff. Can’t fault it! They are currently running a Fire & Ice theme to honor Game of Thrones. It will run through until November 3, 2024. I ordered the Fire & Blood(£10.50) cocktail and the Dracarys(£10) canned cocktail to-go. They were both bold and unique. The House Targaryen ice cube was a nice touch. What a fun stop! I'm so glad we visited. Edinburgh is so lucky to have this place!

Excellent cocktail bar with a new theme every 4 months. The cocktails are unusual (don't expect the usual suspects on the menu but they can make up the classics too) and there's a lot of thought gone into the cocktails and themed ambience created (as you'd expect from geeks 🤓). Excellent friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff and a generally all-round great experience. Book in advance to guarantee a table, especially if more than a couple of you. Highly recommended.

We didn't have any food so can't comment but based on how the drinks and service were I imagine it to be lovely, I don't remember our servers name but he was so helpful and great to talk to and made sure this is a spot I'll be returning to on my next visit.

They do rotating themes every few months where they change everything up, from the entire menu to the decor. We went during "ice and fire" (game of thrones) - suggest doing the wine tasting, where they give you a little scroll map of Westeros that you read and match to the wines as you taste.. interactive and immersive fun! Will definitely return, the next theme is Fallout which I can imagine will be amazing..

Matching cocktail creations that are truly new and state-of-the-art, without being like all the others. And very tasty! Imaginative descriptions for each cocktail, matching the theme. Such a cool place, the theme changes every few months and at the moment it is Game of Thrones. The drinks all have a story behind them which the waiter explained when bringing out the drinks. I had Jenny's Song and it was delicious and very pretty. Highly recommend this place!

I went to Cocktail Geeks last night with my mother and my dog. We had such a lovely experience. The staff are very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. It felt like we walked in to the game of thrones world. Will definitely go back.

Pricey, but worth it for the ambiance, lore (!!) and absolutely stellar mixology. The "Proper Northern Drink" was one of the best cocktails I've had. Will be back for next quarter's offerings.

Words can’t describe the magic of this place. We stumbled upon it during the Last of Us Endure and Survive theme. We were blown away. They allowed us to bring in our dogs (all the way from Texas), and we drank the menu. We will literally fly back for the next Last of Us event. The showmanship, craft, and ambiance are that good.

Visited on Saturday for the Ice and Fire theme and this was our 2nd visit following The Last Of Us. Decor fantastic as always to set the mood along with an excellent choice of cocktails. Staff are very friendly and enthusiastically provide a summary of your chosen cocktail. I liked all the drinks I had but my favourite was the Winds Of Winter closely followed by Milk Of The Poppy. Look forward to future themes.

Cocktails vary from £9-12. They do mocktails for less too. I've been there for the Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones themes, all of which are brilliant. The staff are great and provide you a little background knowledge of the naming of their cocktails like 'Orcs Draught' or 'Blood of Old Vlayria'. Also, the cocktails are very tasty and I really recommend the 'Milk of the Poppy'.

Came here during the Fire and Ice theme, ordered their wonderful cocktails (highly recommend Milk of the Poppy, should have gotten a second one). Service was excellent and friendly, and the atmosphere is amazing. Loved it.

Really nice cocktail selection. I always love going to a cocktail bar where not only the boring basics are served (which you still can get here, but why would you want that??). The waiter really knew the stories and explained a little what flavors resemble what of the story. Obviously they were able to give advice on which cocktail to choose based on your taste. Love the whole concept of switching the menu according to different nerd franchises and also changing the decoration accordingly. It's definitely worth checking out

Makes me wish I lived closer- I'm missing out on all the other themes! When we went it was All themed around Mario, and it did not disappoint. The decor and cocktails were fantastic, but the really stand out was the enthusiasm of the staff, you get the impression they really love what they do and that becomes infectious. Every drink we ordered was explained to us- both the ingredients and where the influence for the cocktail came from within the Mario lore. Loved it, and couldn't stop smiling. Wish we could come back

Highly recommend visiting!! Staff is very friendly and well versed in the drinks they offer. The cocktails and mocktails are unique and incredibly delicious. The atmosphere is so fun! Love that the cocktail theme changes every few months so there is always more to try.

So much fun. This theme cocktail bar was Mario theme when we went. They change the theme every 4 months. Can’t wait to see what theme they have the next time I am in Edinburgh.

Great cocktails with fantastic concept. Can't miss spot. We were there for Mario month. Even the menu is inspired.

This bar is one of the coolest and most immersive places I’ve been. Everything is to theme, from the deco, to the staff costumes, to the amazing music, even to the banana wet floor sign. The drinks are incredible, and there’s such a wide variety to choose from. There are also delicious mocktails; you can tell they put thought into them instead of making them as an afterthought, and I believe you can order ANY beverage on the menu as alcohol free. It’s a shame I live so far, otherwise I’d be a frequent customer. If you can’t get a reservation, don’t give up. I’ve gone as a walk in more often than I’ve done with a reservation. If you don’t mind sitting outside, you can still enjoy a visit without the advance planning.

A little bit hidden away but an amazing cocktail bar to go to (even if you don't like cocktails). The drinks are amazing and came out at a decent time. The staff are really kind and caring, they fit us in without a reservation and answered all of our questions. I can't wait to go back.
