Absolutely incredible cocktails! All of the team clearly know what they're doing, their descriptions are spot on and their knowledge of ingredients is second to none! The only downside was the seating. It's a very small venue, make sure you book in advance!! We made the mistake of not booking, luckily greeted with a seat at a bar area, but our experience would have been more comfortable at a normal table and we knew this was our fault for not booking.

Had an amazing afternoon here with the Fallout theme. The paintings on the walls were spot on even the giant radroachs where cool. Drinks felt like they capture the lifestyle and theme of the games, loved that the rad away game in an IV bag too. Prices arnt to bad considering it's in the city

Themed for Fallout, this bar changes theme every 4 months. My son and one of his mates from Glasgow came through to try out the bar. Unfortunately, it was fully booked. On a positive we got a seat outside (yes in March). The staff go out of their way to include you in the experience, and just lovingly describe the cocktails. A fun start to the evening.

Staff were incredibly nice and friendly. Drinks were so nicely thought of to reflect the Fallout theme.

Myself and my fiancée based our trip to Edinburgh around a visit to this place and we where not disappointed! Everything from the cocktails, the staff and the decor are amazing. As a fan of the fallout series this was a brilliant experience. Highly recommend the RadAway cocktail.

Really amazing, usually gimmick bars like this fall short on the cocktails but every single one was delicious. Was absolutely slammed however, you need to book to get in.

Vey disappointed with our recent experience. Myself and my girlfriend came here all the way from Glasgow, she’s a huge fan of fallout and really wanted to experience the themed cocktails. They asked us for ID as we’re were about to sit at our table. I’m 26 and she’s 27. I handed them my ID and she had forgotten hers. She offered to show a picture and then they said no and she said that she’d just have water while I had a drink and they refused and kicked us out. Absolutely ridiculous behavior. Not sure if they’re just homophobic or just unwilling to compromise. Either way very unpleasant experience. Definitely won’t be back. Update in response to the below reply from the manager. I did in fact have proof of ID to show that I am 26 which I showed to the member of staff. My girlfriend is 27 so if your staff are going off the 18+ laws I think it’s safe to assume my girlfriend isn’t 17??? My girlfriend was okay with not having a drink and said it’s okay I’ll just have water or a non-alcoholic in order to experience the fall out themed bar which again is her favourite game and he proceeded to kick us out after walking us to the table and sitting us down. If your policy is not to allow under 18s on the premises he shouldn’t have left us waiting 10 minutes for a table outside and then walked us to a table and sat us down. ID should have been the first thing he asked for instead of wasting our time and then making an embarrassing scene in front of the other people in the bar. Poorly handled by your staff and poorly handled response. A sincere apology goes a long way. It shows that you care about your customers, just a tip for handling future complaints, it’s nice to be nice. I’m sure to learn that one day :)

Themed for fallout, this bar changes theme every 4 months. 10 out of 10 for authenticity. Loved trying the vault themed cocktails and will try and get back before the new theme starts. Great service from the staff too, thank you!

Came across this place on social media and thought we'd give it a try. Must say it's such a wonderful cocktail place with a great atmosphere and vibe. The fallout theme was brilliant, the staff superb and the cocktails amazing. Deffo will come back when we visit Edinburgh again!

Wow! The staff were super friendly and enthusiastic. It's clear that a lot of care has gone into the theming of the bar. We visited during the Vault 131 theme and as fallout fans we were so blown away! The cocktails were quite experimental, but they were DELICIOUS and fit the theming so well. It was great that they had 0% drinks fitting the themes, and also clearly listed percentages. Cameron (I think that was our servers name!) was very kind and enthusiastic, as were all the staff. Additionally the bar was clean (including the toilets) It's a shame we live 200+ miles away as we would definitely return often if we were closer. I hope we can visit for another theme in the future!

Went during the fallout theme with a friend and absolutely loved it. The staff were friendly and stayed in chartercter the whole time, cocktails well priced along with delicious, the decor was beautiful (particularly loving the mural and radroach cushions). Planning on going again before the end of the theme.

Been to cocktail geeks many times before however this time we ventured to vault 131. Loved the drinks, the decor, the attention to detail. The staff as always were amazing and really added to the whole experience. Can’t wait for the next theme.

Visited a couple times for the Fallout cocktails. Absolutely love the Nuka Cola Quantum! Great vibes, and if you’re nerdy you’ll love it.

We travelled to Edinburgh with this cocktail bar primarily in our minds to try out. Fallout is one of my favourite games and I was excited to see what they had to offer. The theming was on point and the cocktails tasted fantastic! The staff here really knows their stuff and give you a bit of exposition about how the cocktails are made and what effect they'd have on you in the video game world. I've never seen a place with this much love and attention to detail, and such a fantastic dedicated team! Id love to say I'd be back again, if only I didn't live abroad. Bravo cocktail geeks, yer amazing!

We go back to Cocktail Geeks every single time they change their theme - absolutely love the service and how knowledgeable and friendly the waiters are. There is so much creativity in the cocktails and themes and I’m always excited to try the newly designed drinks. I just wish there was a way to book a specific table as quite often we get seated downstairs close to the toilets (which many customers don’t close the door to after using) - yesterday we asked to be seated upstairs though as it was our second time at Fallout theme after being seated downstairs the first time round, and the staff accommodated which we were super happy about.

It is difficult to come up with something original in order to tell people how amazing this cocktail experience is. If you are questioning it-just go for it. I booked it for Valentine’s Day months ago for my partner as a surprise and it was more than any expectations. Service was outstanding, it is clear that they know the menu off by heart. Got chatting to Callum there who truly was a stand out in terms of service. I had ordered a non-boozy drink (which they have a good amount of for a good price) and he suggested the perfect spirit to add in, it was such a good recommendation! And the cocktails? Well thought out, tried and true and stunning. You would be missing out if you didn’t come here as a nerd. The atmosphere is almost alive, and the people who work there are those who make it so. You have to go to cocktail geeks!

I'm not much of a cocktail drinker but I would highly recommend The Cocktail Geeks. The drinks were brilliant and the story & "show" they put on not only when you are shown to your table , but also behind the drink you choose massively adds to the experience. We visited during their Fallout theme & can't wait to visit again.

Been twice and both times have been absolutely stellar (A song of ice and fire, and Fallout), had the same server both times and he’s such a delight and really knowledgeable about everything on the menu as well as the theme its based around, had a very intriguing conversation about lord of the rings with the guy, and would love to come back again many times in the future. Honestly cannot recommended this place enough!!!

First time in Edinburgh and this was the place we mainly wanted to go and it lives up to the reviews. Staff are genuinely so friendly we had the server with brown hair and beard (I forgot to ask for his name) and he could not be anymore passionate about his job. Genuinely best customer service given that you could ask for. Hopefully will be back for the Jurassic World overhaul.

Staff were fantastic. Friendly and super knowledgeable. Made us super comfortable and were very attentive. Drinks were next level, so much thought and effort put into them loved every single one off of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L menu especially Luck. The theme and decorations were on point, true talent and effort has gone into every aspect of the entire bar. Will definitely be back! Thanks!

Whole vibe was super cool with custom artwork, outfits and props. Drinks were all based off items in the fallout universe and were unique tasting from my experience. Also loved the enthusiasm, energy and dedication of the staff who never stopped working and the cute bar dog Pippin!

The atmosphere here is honestly outstanding! The drinks are well thought out and taste amazing! As someone who avoids alcohol drinks, having great quality mocktails that are well themed is amazing! All the servers are amazing but big shout out to Rachel for her service today! 🎉

Fantastic bar with rotating themes. Drinks switch up and fit so perfectly with their themes. We went during Fallout, and it was 10/10. The drinks are very decently priced, especially for the quality you get.

Fantastic idea changing their themes every few weeks. We went in on the fallout theme! Can't wait to see what they do next Very attentive with our nut allergy, but not in an annoying/over protective way which is a bonus Their "perception " cocktail was a stand out, it was basically a carrot cake in a glass.

Cool wee cocktail place that changes the theme every 4 months. We visited when it was Fallout and this happens to be my favourite game series, so that was perfect and the cocktails were excellent.

Honestly incredible - we went here for my partner’s birthday and the drinks were incredible. The decor is awesome too, and the service was the best I’d ever received. Staff were knowledgeable and super friendly (especially the lady who served us). We’ll absolutely be back

It was actually really fun, me and my dad were in there a couple of weeks ago from Dublin and it was the best cocktail place I have ever witnessed, especially when it has different themes of pop cultures. Very entertaining

We came during the Fallout themed and were amazed by the amount of effort which went into the art, menu and staff uniforms. The staff were lovely and engaging and the cocktails were each quirky, tasty and felt like great value for the night. I'll be returning ASAP!

Super stunning cocktails very very tasty very strong very nice really interesting music really interesting things really wish I didn’t take me four or five times to mention the song that I wanted them to play because after four or four times of constantly mentioning that I really wish they’d mention play these songs that they would please play it and after like the four or fifth time I’ve mentioned that they did finally play and I was very happy about that.

Just had cocktails but what a experience. I wish I could remember the blonde servers nane she wax excellent. We were there during the fall out experience and the cocktails were amazing. Would highly recommend booking in advance though. We had to sit outside but we were on our way to the train station so didn't mind at all .

We came for the fall out theme wonderful concept and atmosphere, this was the menu and we brilliant. 4 stages cocktails about £10 each so around £40 if u wish for all you don’t need to.

Had a lovely evening, loved the fallout theme that’s going on at the moment and the drinks that were based on it. Staff are very friendly and the drinks are delicious. Will definitely be visiting again! Looking forward to whatever themes come next 😁

Had a lovely evening, staff were lovely and accommodating as we didn't t have a booking and managed to seat us it's done so professionally with the theme changing every few months. The staff do make the experience contributing with their own cocktails and stories around them.

Amazing staff and great cocktail creations.

Me and my wife originally came to Cocktail Geeks back in 2020 when (I think) it was just meant to be a pop up. What a surprise to return nearly 5 years later to see it's a fully fledged and absolutely incredible, themed, cocktail bar. We didn't have a reservation but the staff were so accommodating and were able to re-arrange a table so we could stay for an hour or so. We were seated and treated to an introduction about the bar, currently Fallout themed, and the detail that's been put into everything is simply incredible. The artwork and decoration throughout the venue is stunning and the menu well designed. The drinks themselves relate to the gameplay in Fallout, but for the un-initiated (like my wife) the staff go into detail about the drinks and what they mean in relation to the game. We had a couple of cocktails each. I opted for "Agility" and "Luck" - the latter which was like drinking a boozy version of melted mint choc chip ice cream, and my wife went for "Perception" - an alcoholic drinkable carrot cake, and "Devilled Eggs" made more fun with the addition of whiskey. The presentation of the cocktails is immense and the provenance behind each drink is so well thought out and detailed, It's amazing how the staff remember everything on top of making the actual drinks. I can't recommend this bar enough, if you're in Edinburgh you simply HAVE to go here, but I would absolutely recommend booking beforehand, I was just very lucky on the day!

Such a fun, reasonably priced, clean and welcoming place! We had a lovely time and our server Nathan was so attentive and informative. Couldn't believe it was only his third day! He's a natural in hospitality coming from a fellow server, well done. The rest of the staff were also excellent, so friendly and hard working. Will definitely recommend to friends! ☺️

Amazing experience! The theme was Fallout, the drinks were so fun and interesting, and different to what we'd usually have, but all of them were tasty! The service was warm and informative, the set dressing was excellent! Loved the intelligence and quantum cola!

Came here to try the fallout menu, and we were blown away by the theming inside! The cocktail menu is extensive and you can really tell they put a lot of effort into creating drinks that fit the fallout theme. The staff were excellent too, highly recommended!

Saw this place randomly on Tiktok and the theme was fallout for the time of us going. I hadn't even told the Mrs we were going and it was already booked 😂 Nathan the lads first day was an absolute star! Hope your first day was a blast mate!

We've been on our way to dinner with aim to go for some drinks after it. And we've come across this beautiful stylish bar with perfect theme (that changes every 4 months). Everything there was extraordinary - staff, drinks, setting. One of the most unique places to visit.

New favourite bar in Edinburgh. We came for the fallout theme, and we're instantly blown away by the decor and props in the bar to help immerse you into the Fallout universe. I'm an absolute nerd when it comes to fallout, and the team at Cocktail Geeks nailed all the lore and mechanics in the game. Our server, Emily, was a different class. She was bubbly, informative and welcoming, and made an already stellar experience, even better! Thoroughly recommended!

Me and a friend found this place by accident and we're glad we did! The staff were lovely and the theme (Fallout when we went) was well represented by the atmosphere. The drinks were good too, would definitely visit again.

We have just visited Cocktails Geeks in Edinburgh and we will not be returning. All was great until we were leaving. After spending £16 on a cocktail and mocktail we were greeted by the most rude, obnoxious bar man (which is saying something after working in hospitality since the age of 14). My husband is a massive fan of Fall Out (the current theme) and has wanted to visit since the theme started so as we were leaving I pointed out the bar mats on the bar which had different characters on them. He picked one up and was barked at by the bar man “they’re garnishes for our drinks”. Bar mats, yes bar mats are “drinks garnishes”, never in all my years have I heard anything so ridiculous. We actually saw these “garnishes” on another table of a group that had just left and yes they left them so I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t have had one or, if he couldn’t maybe keep them behind the bar? So ultimately, we will not be revisiting or recommending this bar to anyone after the experience with that horrible member of staff. I do hope management see this and give their bar man a lesson is basic customer service as he currently has 0 skills.

Great atmosphere, staff were really fun and explained each drink. The drinks were good and taste wasn't sacrificed for the sake of the gimmick. Will be back!

Very good atmosphere, very good non-alcoholic cocktails

Good cocktails but it's the theme that makes this bar delightful. Changes every few months the interior artwork and decorations are usually very good. Drinks are usually good, but being styled with Super Mario Bros or Game of Thrones or The Last of Us makes it worth checking out.

This is a one of a kind experience. I have never seen such a passionate and invested staff. The cocktails are crafted with the wildest ingredients that mesh to meet the given theme.

As they change the theme of the place every 4 months it is giving you new experience on a regular basis. We have been at the fall out theme. Very nicely made you can see they put a lot of effort in the decorations and cocktails also. If you'd like to try something different I would highly recommend it.

I stumbled across this place via Pinterest while researching for my husband’s and my recent trip back to Scotland. We were lucky enough to be in town right before they changed themes so we were able to enjoy both Fire and Ice and Vault 131. The menus were completely different and it was fun to see everything redecorated. If you’re not familiar with a theme, the staff does explain some when they go through the menu. There’s something for everyone’s varied drink preferences, including non-alcoholic. It is a small space, even with some outdoor seating, so definitely make a reservation if you can.

Great place and amazing cocktails

This place is great! I'm in Edinburgh for school and my family happened to be in town right in time for the Fallout retheme and all three of us had a blast, pun intended. The atmosphere was fantastic, I'm a huge Fallout fan and the attention to detail was incredible. I'll definitely be back at some point before I return home to check out another theme! Definitely recommend the Nuka Quantum.

We visited when it was Mario-themed after a recommendation from my sister, who went when it was Lord of the Rings themed. We had a great time and the cocktails were really creative and fun (even the non-alcholic ones and there were plenty of options). Would highly recommend visiting!

Edited to add photos :- Could not recommend this place enough. The staff are so friendly and attentive, nothing is too much. You get a wonderful experience with full immersion as soon as you walk through the door. Every menu has a story and every drink comes with its own unique take on that story. The staff walk you through every step and are more than happy to make recommendations for you. Can not wait to come back to Edinburgh to come back and see what the next theme is.

We didn't see before we booked that there were stairs to the main seating area so we didn't think to ask for ground floor seating, but despite being fully booked the staff were very accommodating and sorted us out. The staff were also just generally very pleasant and enthusiastic without being overbearing. The drinks are mostly on the quite complex end of the scale, having many different ingredients in them, but contrary to my experience in some other places with those sorts of menus the drinks were well balanced and delicious, the Winds of Winter in particular was my favourite.

Had a great time trying out the Fire and Blood menu, everyone who served us was clearly invested in the theme and the music selection was superb 💯 recommended!

Came in as a walk in and from doorway to doorway the staff were all inviting, friendly and attentive! All the drinks were fantastic, myself as a non-drinker had plenty of options and decided to try all 3 of the mocktails that were on offer (be warned the Siege of Bloodstone is bloody 🥵 but still delicious) Whilst I can’t speak of all the staff a special mention needs to be said for our host and server Toby; he has a wealth of knowledge and passion for his craft that is exceedingly rare to see in the hospitality industry nowadays. He guided us through all of the drinks, was ready with any recommendations or accommodations as needed, truly a master of his craft and I wish him nothing but the best going forward in his career!

The bar was fantastic! All game of thrones/house of the dragon themed the attention to detail is wild! We had Toby as our server, he told us the back story to each cocktail and gave fantastic recommendations as we were spoilt for choice. Even had lovely mocktails too

It took me a while to get this review up (we were there in May 2024) and the theme has since changed - but the review still stands. We experienced the Super Mario theme and it was so much fun. We stumbled upon this quirky little Cocktail Place as we were wandering past the station in the search for our Rental Car drop off spot. And boy were we happy we decided to pop in. Amazing cocktails, fun atmosphere and staff that explain the cocktails to you and are pretty damn funny to boot. The staff really get into it - and the costumes are fantastic. Hope to be back in Edinburgh soon and no matter the theme we will be back.

An absolute HIGHLIGHT of a cocktail bar! We had a great time there and greatly enjoyed the current "Fire and Ice" theme. The Staff is super friendly and competent and the cocktails are a show in themselves! I've hardly ever had such creatve and delicious cocktails. What a fabulous experience we had at the Cocktail Geeks! Not your everyday cocktails. Currently themed on Ice & Fire from Game of Thrones, but I understand this changes regularly. The cocktails are really innovative and different. Cool place. Enthusiastic, helpful and attentive staff.

(Second visit, a year later) I love the earnest attention to detail on display at this place. It’s clear from how the menu derives from the theme (you may not care about that at all) but also per drink, the unification of unique and sometimes (one imagines) quite fiddly or processed ingredients. (First review) Was expecting good things from the reviews, still ended up surprised at the quality of the drinks and (after having them, talking to the folks there) the thought that went into them. Will definitely visit whenever in Edinburgh :)

Arrived and seated. Party of four ordered one cocktail each. Time between ordering and receiving was good and was given a great explanation on each cocktail and the party was having a good time. We finished our cocktails and was waiting for a server to come and take a second order...waited and waited and waited. Now, this place isn't big by any stretch of the imagination at most only 6 tables inside. Server finally came and a second order was made. Great we thought, better late then never! However, moments later another guy rocked up with the worst customer service manner I've pretty much ever experienced and said "your hour is up so time to go, if you've ordered a second round then you can either have it outside or cancel it..." Experience was pretty underwhelming which was really crappy as I was looking forward to this venue. The way he delivered the "have it outside or cancel" was well rehearsed and I'm sure this gets said to a lot of groups. They were not understaffed as there was at least six members of staff working. Waste of time...don't believe the hype.

My 2nd visit to this quirky bar. Last visit was Super Mario themed. This visit was Ice and Fire themed. Both visits were brilliant. The staff so so friendly. Explaining the origins of the cocktails you order with enthusiasm. The drinks themselves are so well thought out. The details different with each one. If in Edinburgh. Give these guys a visit and see for yourself, just how great this place truly is 😁.

I absolutely adore this place!!! I started coming here in 2019 and have been to the Hobbit, Star Wars and the Ice and Fire themed months. Every single time you guys knock it out of the park! Every atmosphere is different and yet so familiar and the amount of work and research that go into the cocktails and the various themes and decor is top-notch. I can't wait to come back!!!
