Hard to find decent pub grub these days. Well we thought we would try the Cock Inn after a friend's recommendation. Most of the menu is Tapas which had previously put us off visiting but there are a few alternatives. Wife had the Ploughmans at...

This excellent little pub is a throw back to what we all used to enjoy about pub life with the added attraction of great home cooking and no smoking. There is a small menu but you will find something for everyone. One negative is that the drinks are a little dearer than the pubs I usually frequent but I suppose you can't have everything.

We went to the cock Inn for our tea on (Friday 7/10/16) we had a lovely meal. My partner had pie it was delicious. The dessert was absolutely to die for I had chocolate salted caramel tart. It melted in ur mouth. Top marks to the chef who is very young and very talented.

Went with the family after a work colleague recommended the place on a Monday lunchtime. When we arrived the place was deserted. We ordered a few meals and 5 plates of tapas as well as the chilli beef nachos.I was not only bowled over with the efficiency of service but the tapas was absolutely awesome. One of the meals was a simple baked potato and tuna. However everything was fresh high quality and cooked to perfection. Can't believe I've driven by this place all these year 's without realising this place did food.

When we heard it was the same cook that used to be here some years ago we thought we would give it another try as she was known for her good meals. For some reason it didn't happen for us this time, firstly we waited absolutely ages for our meal and there were only us in except for a couple of drinkers at the bar, I'd hate to be there when they get busy. As for the food it was a disaster, I had fish and chips and the fish was like a round ball with very hard batter, when you finally got through the batter it was just that . . a little round ball of fish. At most pubs you get a piece of fish the length of your plate.A friend had the chicken wings and ribs which he left because he said it was just a tasteless "modge " which is just what it looked like, should have been crispy. This must be the most expensive in a 5 mile radius, after all it's only a pub not a restaurant.

We always come here on a Tuesday for the quiz, and after winning a few drinks last week, we decided to go down early and enjoy food before the quiz. We were not disappointed! I had the lasagne and it was brilliant. Very flavoursome and could tell it was home made. My friends and fella had the pies which were steak and ale and chicken, bacon and leak and they thoroughly enjoyed these too. Well done Cock Inn xx

A local village pub with great food. I was expecting the usual pub fayre and was pleased to discover it is much better. The food looks homemade, is tasty and reasonably priced. The steak pie had my Dad claim it was one of the best he had eaten. The pizzas are fantastic and the burger was the best you will get in the area.

The Cock Inn is amazing. The food is great and really is homemade. The stew and dumplings is a must have. The pub is family and dog friendly and the staff are really welcoming. Oh and they do a cracking pint of Guinness.

We have never had burgers like the ones we have enjoyed tonight, such amazing quality, well presented and in a pub with excellent ambience and great beer. We'll be back, thanks for a lovely meal and a nice evening. Tim and Gill

Our local village pub, we love it here. The food is all homemade & great value. There's something to suit everyone I can highly recommend "pie night" and the stew & dumplings is excellent, there's also an extensive tapas menu with all dishes prepared & cooked by the landlady & her team. The gorgeous girls that play for the village ladies football team can often be found serving behind the bar. This is a friendly, family run pub in the heart of our village.

Went to the Cock Inn for mother's day and was greeted by friendly attentive staff who made sure that everything was satisfactory. The food did not disappoint either, with a menu of three course meals we were spoilt for choice. The portion sizes were more than generous and the prices make a trip out to the local pub even easier to swallow. We live locally so going to this pub for food is not only convenient but also enjoyable.

I have been to this pub on numerous occasions and particularly enjoyed Mexican night. On another occasion had a tasty roast dinner however the scallops for starter and crème Brule desert were poor quality. A good choice of beer, it would be great if there was more space to watch football.

Went for a spot of lunch on a sat, the barmaid was quite rude and never smiled! Asked for a menu, the reply was "over there" a bloke having his pint had to help and show me where the menus was. I orderd some food and while I was waiting , the staff brought in a KFC and started eating it at the bar! Bit of a put off ! However my food came and it was spot on! Lovely steak pie ! Why go for a KFC ???lol

Decided to give monday Burger Night a try as my husband was away and I didn't fancy cooking. The deal is two for £10.00 so my duaghter and I chose from the large choice of burgers available. The meals were well presented with stacked high burgers and lovely chips! Desserts were on special offer as well at £2.00 each but we couldn't manage them, we were stuffed! A good start to the week!

Went for lunch with my partner. We both plumped for the lamb pie with chips and mushy peas as it was pie week and they had a selection of homemade pies on the menu. When the food arrived, it was hot and a generous portion. The home made chips were excellent and the pie was fantastic. The best pie I have had in a very long time. It was full of lean, very tender tasty lamb in a nice gravy with a short crust pasty top. The cost of the meal was £6.95 and was brilliant value. The pub itself is not posh by any means but is a nice local traditional place with outstanding food. Proper honest home cooking. They also do a selection of tapas dishes if you fancy something different. We will be back.

This is a real belter of a pub. The food is great. Generous and of a very high quality. The Cock is a real treat In an area swamped with cheap & cheerful value based pub food options. The Cock is different, it is slightly more expensive but delivers far more in terms of value. The simple things are done extremely well. chips are ace, bread is good and onion rings are fresh & not at all greasy. The Tapas is a delight. Try doing it at home & I am sure that you will be out of pocket in comparison. The beer is good and the fanily who run the place have original ideas to keep the customers coming back. It is true that they serve the best complimentary post-footi food in the world. OWMFC love this pub & can often be heard singing chants in the pubs honour. Gorg & PC Ploddard can often be seen tucking into this fine food. High praise indeed. Come & support your local you will not regret it.

I was working in the area and went to The Cock Inn with a colleague for a light lunch. The food was sublime and remarkably well priced. I had some crisp whitebait and the bread and olives where of an excellent quality. Going into the pub you wouldn't expect this as it's a proper local with a nice local ale on tap. It went a bit quiet when we stepped in! I would recommend it thoroughly. The ladies who are running it (sisters I think) only started in June and have worked wonders. The interior could do with a freshen up as it's a bit dated but it's very clean.Good stuff!

This is the second time I have been for Sunday lunch. Menu is creative, food delicious (all home cooked) and price reasonable. It is top nosh, probably the best food I have had in Sheffield in long time. We had Japanese minced prawns in the lightest tempura batter and chilli sauce, salt and pepper calamari with alioli, roast pork loin, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, home made stuffing and all the trimmings, finally pink gooseberry cheese cake - mmmm! I I definitely recommend a visit.

We came one Sunday afternoon with a group of 7 and were not disappointed. The food choice was not massive, but enough for everyone. The space we were Put in to was rather small for a group of 7 but it was cozy rather than cramped. I had the whitebait for starter and although it was basic, it was fresh and for £3 for every starter... Can't complain! Sunday beef dinner was for main and it was fantastic. The beef was served rare and although I completely agree with this style of cooking, some people may want a choice... Desserts were good... Nice choice and options for any ice cream or cream with them. Staff were superb with politeness and speed of service. The only issue was the pubs decor.. However we were commenting on how nice it was to see a real, traditional DRINKING pub with good dining too. It was clear that you could go for a pint and good quality food.... At very good price...(£75ish for 7 people with drinks... Starter mains and desserts!)Well done!
