Sunday roast was very good - great selection of veg on plate and an extra small jug of gravy with lovely tasting lamb. Really enjoyed our lunch and would definitely recommend and visit here again.

It's been a while since we ate at Cobbles. Ate in the bar as its dog friendly. Very friendly service and great Tempest brewery beers. For me, a measure of pub food is the chicken burger - will it be succulent or like a rubber duck? This one was perfectly succulent, but I was as impressed by the little dressings applied to the skinny fries. Quite different, all very tasty. Wife ordered fish & chips.....fish locally is always super fresh given the location, but she too thought the dressings and sauces were both different & delightful. So a very pleasant lunch experience.

Was very busy and waited an hour in food. Had a coronation chicken bagel.with chips and onion rings. Chips was solid and the coronation chicken should have a health warning. Very very spicey..chicken breast with spices.. Partner had lasagne which was OK.. garlic bread was solid Onion rings very greasy and had a spice to it First time here. Don't think we will be back..

Very surreal experience. The chicken and waffles sounded good, and when told all the options that come with it, it seemed good value. It didn't however mention on the menu it was all on top of each other. So it was chicken and waffle topped with hollandaise, bluecheese Slaw, bacon a fried egg, jalapeños. It all curdled into a sickly soggy plate. I'd recommend serving them on the side and letting the customer choose what they want, as the combination of all together was awful. The chocolate dessert after was also hard to get your head around, chocolate Fondant, it was just a dry sponge so clearly overcooked I assume with large chunks of honeycomb( very large hard to bite chunks) then a chocolate ganache type side ( which was inedibly salty.) When we complained the chef had told the waitress to reply "its miso chocolate. Its supposed to be salty" 1. If you are going to add miso atleast write it on the menu 2. It tasted awful so I'd recomend trying it before serving it, yes miso Is salty but I'd be embarrassed to have served that. Something clearly went wring. The crumble was burnt on top but I didn't mention it as the chef was clearly in one of those moods so would probably reply the burnt topping was a charcoal feature. Lovely restaurant and great staff but the chef and kitchen need to try harder. Get the basics right before you make salmon ice cream, miso chocolate sauce and finally a hollandaise/bluecheese/egg jalapeño waffle. Having the chef in charge that evening wasn't a great look as their attitude was awful. Mistakes get made so I don't think the food is awful normally i assume. The dishes described were truly horrible. So atleast put your hands up and say its a mistake. Not double down and say its supposed to be like that. I mean cmon, imagine eating hollandaise, blue cheese, maple, jalapeños bacon and egg together with chicken and waffles. Surely someone should say you've gone too far

Lovely spot in Kelso centre. We looked around for somewhere which catered for gluten free and were struggling a little so when we managed to get a table here we were delighted. Bao buns starter was amazing for £6 and almost like a main course! Fish and chips were a delight too. GF soup and then burger were great and really tasty. Drinks were really good value as was the really tasty kids meal. All in a great place, great customer service and a lovely atmosphere.

Food was so good- really tasty and reasonable price. Booking advisable on busy weekends. Service was great, nice and homely. Really impressed. Nothing too fancy but the food was really good! Varied menu to suit all. Beat chocolate fondant I’ve had in a restaurant as most are usually reheated pre made stuff. Yum! So good I forgot to take a pic of it. Kudos to the chefs!

Very average fish and chips. Not a big portion, curry sauce was cold, chips were nice but not enough for my husband. I had the Cullen Skink which was the worst I've ever had and I sent it back. Watery with a few tiny bits of fish and hard potatoes. Bread was dry and I had to ask for butter. They did apologise and didn't charge me, however I felt their customer service was lacking. Visited in 2021 and throughly enjoyed the experience. Back in Kelso this weekend and therefore booked a table for a lunch on Saturday. Making the reservation was quick and easy and when we turned up a little early for the booking, staff were helpful and efficient and made our table available quickly. Plenty of choice on the menu for everyone and all at extremely reasonable prices. All dishes for our party (6 starters/6 mains) were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. We were all delighted with our lunch - the food and the service - and are very happy to recommend this lovely little bistro to others

Very nice pub and dining rooms. Don't be put off by the slightly twee name. Beer is good - a choice of half a dozen or more real ales. The NZ hop IPA hit the spot, kept well and a good tasty choice. The wine is reasonable value. Food choices very good - nothing wild and wacky but something for everyone be it steak and ale pie, king prawn curry, fish and chips, burger, something popped on top of pasta and a few specials. Then nice ice cream from their shop opposite, raspberry sorbet a delight as was the chocolate ice cream. Vegans will find something but not a brilliant choice for them. Very friendly and relaxed place. Great staff who attended to us very well, spot on food at prices which are not extravagant for what you get (no starters needed unless you fancy one), and a nice clean and tidy venue. Nothing to dislike here, everything pretty perfect.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a lady at another shop, as being the best place to eat and it didn't disappoint. Even although they were very busy with group bookings, they could still accomodate us and our little dog as walkins. Trust us to pick the most expensive mains on the menu and we both went for the seafood tagliattele which was full of fish/seafood and in a delicious sauce. We shared a starter and pud and with our bottle of wine, the bill was £73.50...was surprised they charged £2.50 for a few slices of bread which is very often brought to the table anyway. My husband only ate one slice but all in all, a nice treat on our wee holiday on the Borders of Scotland.

Popped by for a late lunch / early tea on a Saturday afternoon. A cosy place with a roaring fire, great choice of craft beer options and traditional pub grub menu. We were welcomed with a smile by the bar staff. I had the Beef Pie (recommend) which was a great winter warmer on a cold miserable day, my partner had the curry which was ok but could have been more flavorful (strong coconut flavour). A solid choice among limited options in Kelso. As a football fan, a little disappointed the Six Nations was shown on the TV instead of the EPL, but when in Scotland I suppose one can’t complain. Would return for sure.

We adore this place, and spend a couple of pleasant hours sitting at the bar or on one of the tables by the fire when we are in town. I’m coeliac, so love it they always have the Tempest Modern Helles. They also do great selection of food, which can be made gluten free. The chef/owner knows what can be changed on the menu to allow me to have a gluten free version. He’s also knowledgeable about the cross-contamination issue. The staff behind the bar are always really friendly and welcoming. They also tend to the fire regularly. There’s a good selection of beer for the non-coeliac, and a good range of gin. This hotel is awful. It looks nothing like the website pictures. The whole place is rundown and filthy. On our first morning the waiter said there was a mix up with the food order and he thought he had some rice krispies somewhere but we're still waiting for them to arrive. There was then a greasy cooked breakfast plonked on a plate. When new residents arrived they were given wet towels for their room and the owner was very intimidating when they complained. Next morning at breakfast they were given the same excuse as us about the lack of breakfast foodstuffs. Don't know how this place is still open. Avoid at all costs.
