The Coachman Bar in Dumfries & Galloway

Been here a few times and never been disappointed, except this time. My wife had battered haddock which was uneatable ; it was obviously a piece of frozen haddock that came out of a box and it tasted terrible( I had a taste and had to spit it out). On the positive side, the staff were pleasant and attentive; the surroundings were nice and comfortable to be in and my meal was very good, also good value.

In for a few drinks. Good singer/guitarist on.

No response from the barman to my greeting. Ordered a pint of Guinness. Not one word from the barman during the whole transaction, just hung the card machine in front of me. Similarly no acknowledgement when I returned my glass from outside. Very disappointing first interaction in a country I had been led to believe was welcoming and friendly.

We loved this pub and their owners . We visited it at least three times while in the area. Heather , Georgie and Ben were awesome. A must while in the area .

This was our second choice because the Bull is closed Mon/ Tues but it didn't disappoint us at all. Friendly barman and a good selection of keg drinks - be aware it doesn't have real ale. We had some food the first time we visited and it was good value pub grub. Dogs are welcome and one of the barmen went out of his way to give our dog a drink and treat! Some interesting history is also displayed on the tables and walls.

A lovely pub, the staff were friendly, we all had the lasagna (3 vegetable ones and 1 beef one), came with chips and salad, was very tasty, no complaints from any of us. Added bonus that our dogs were allowed in the pub too.

Nice atmosphere, nice people, good music

We popped in here for a bite to eat as it's dog friendly . As traditional old style bar that looked ok (ie clean) we ordered food. Two chicken curry which came in a decent portion size, but was mostly sauce and was pretty average (our pitta bread arrived after we had finished). On the plus side, tea and coffee was nice , they gave our dog water and a wee biccie and the staff were so nice.

Found a hidden camera in the mens urinals pointing right where you pee.. Avoid this place....

a down to earth pub with decent ale and very reasonable prices , when we were in someone fed the duke box with real decent tunes so it had an atmosphere worth staying

Great dog friendly pub and fab beers

I have read some of the other reviews regarding the food. I have to say I thought the food was excellent. I had a chicken burger and my wife had the lasagne. Beverages were spot on too and the bar staff were very friendly and welcoming

Very friendly welcome. Open plan bar with a roaring fire in the middle. Very spacious. No Cask Ales. Plenty of Carling type of stuff.

A nice old traditional, very cosy pub.

This cheeky little bar was entered while waiting for a bus. Very friendly staff. Very efficient. Had a look at the Menu and it looked good. So. Will dine there next time.

Coachman was an excellent choice for us on our 2 nite visit to Moffat. We had a wonderful meal and v v friendly staff We would visit again

Called in for a quick drink to break up a long drive home, it's a traditional pub, lovely staff and they're really dog friendly. Gave the dog a treat and a bowl of water without us having to ask :)

What a fantastic place! We stopped here on the long drive from Oban to North Wales and we're so glad we did. We chose it as it's dog friendly. We had no idea how dog friendly or people friendly it is. The barmaid was absolutely wonderful, the food was reasonably priced and exactly what you'd expect from a pub. Not haut cuisine, just proper "fill you up" food. I had the beefburger with cheese and my wife had the chicken burger. Just good, honest food. This is a proper pub with lovely staff. The staff generate the atmosphere so the customers are lovely too. Thank you so much.

Waited a long time for food the chicken burger looked like a frozen one from birds eye that you would get from Iceland or something similar maybe they were in the process of getting new stock in not sure, But the environment and staff were nice just the food wasn't what i was expecting from the rating

Visited Scotland for the weekend on a caledonian trip, popped into this pub, I could of stayed but had to get coach, nice friendly staff

Called in here for a couple of drinks and something to eat whilst camping in Moffat. A very traditional pub with a good selection of drinks and decent pub food. All of the staff were really friendly as were the locals, would definitely return.

We called in on our coach trip. The staff was great and the prices were good.

A real pub! Welcoming staff. Good pub meals, some choices home made. Popular varied jukebox too! Moffat is a good stopping point on a long journey only two minutes from the M74. Would recommend a break here to enjoy the friendly local hospitality. Would definitely return. 5 mins walk from the caravan site.

Myself and my girlfriend popped in for some food, as my girlfriend is autistic and doesn't realise that she needs to use the bathroom until it's too late she popped in to use the facilities. After realising that the bathroom and the bar in general wasn't the cleanest or most welcoming we decided to leave. This is when a member of staff barricaded and blocked the door stopping us from leaving...getting aggressive/shouting and swearing at us for using the bathroom without buying anything. After we got past her she continued to shout and swear at us down the street. if you are not avoiding this place due to the cleanliness and unwelcoming atmosphere absolutely avoid it at all costs due to the staff.

Nothing is too much trouble for the lovely owners. Kind , friendly and did a great impromptu party for us. Highly recommended 👌

Long Wait for Food & Far too Noisy. The Pool Table was so close to our Table we had to keep shuffling out of the way

We were visitors to Moffett, the pub was dreadful, so uninviting, couldn't even be bothered to pour the wine for us, everyone we asked about the place said do not go there, Moffett has a huge caravan site and people need somewhere to eat and drink, it's very sad that The Coachman Bar gets no recommendations

Food not too bad but very restricted,the decor was in keeping with being a listed building but could be upgraded a bit more tastefully as I found it very distasteful and dark no good feeling sitting their it in fact reminded of yesteryear old spittoon pubs, but not what people want nowadays, I also noticed several people turn away after looking in and in fact one couple came in but got up and left. I asked for a capuchin coffee and was told they had nothing like that, The lager was okay but all in all I thought it was poor even on entering no sign to say which door customers to use. Sorry 2 out of ten for the coachman.

Friendly comfortable cosy bar. Felt quite at home. Only 4 stars as we didn't eat there so can't comment. Food seemed very popular.

We hit lucky on a Saturday morning, a gaggle of local musicians playing in the bar. Good food and friendly atmosphere, what more could you want.

Can't complain about this pub, bar staff were really nice and helpful, we didn't have a meal so I can't say anything about that. The locals were very friendly (Bruce, Billy, Charlie), a good couple of pool games to get to know the people. I can honestly say we'll be back.👍👍

Wanted to give a big shout out to the 2 wonderful ladies running the coachman.They were absolutely amazing last Friday to my dear friend who had tripped up across the road and hit the pavement face first. They supplied an ice pack,a place to lie down and recover and a lovely cuppa. She has fully recovered now and did manage to enjoy the rest of her weekend. A lovely fire was burning,and we will call again to have a drink In a proper cosy pub. A million thankyous for your kindness and marvellous hospitality xx

Drink was good. Staff were fine. Food was poor. Burger wasn't cooked in the middle. My husband left it after getting to the middle part. When I said that it wasn't cooked in the middle he said don't talk about it or I will be sick. Chicken nuggets weren't the best cheap as we're the chips. Drink our drinks paid and left.

Love this wee pub. Just brilliant. Lady behind bar is so friendly and nice.

Better pubs around, ok for a drink but a no go for food. £6 for a cheese and ham toastie on the cheapest plastic cheese and bread you could find was a joke as well as the oven cooked £3 basket of chips which came out initially raw and we had to ask them to be cooked longer.

An absolute amazing bar. Heather and Georgie the knew owners have turned this place round in a very short time. The alcoholic slushes are amazing especially as it's been so warm.
