Beautiful place brother in law got married to his beautiful wife was a great day

A wonderfully presented hotel with well maintained gardens and grounds for any marriage.the staff are warm and welcoming at all times of day and night and all seemed to like to go the extra mile to help.the food was second to none absolute wonderfull and tasted wonderful.the hotel decor is smartly presented and so are the rooms.room are spacious with on suits and cleaned daily while your there.overall 5 stars is not enough.

We had our wedding here on Monday 19th May and it was perfect. The staff are wonderful as nothing was too much trouble, hotel is fabulous as was all of the food. We could not have wished for a better day. All through the process from first visiting last year we were kept up to date with excellent communications. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will be back for our anniversary. Mr and Mrs Jones.

Booked here for 2 nights for our vowel renewal. The whole process was seamless. We had a absolutely wonderful stay and loved all the little extras in our room thank you

Great spot, lovely quiet room on the front facing the gardens. Everything you need in the room. Good bar area and decent prices as well. Lots of weddings going on but you never feel like your intruding. We did have an hours wait on our starters in the restaurant, but to be fair to the girls looking after us, they couldn't apologise enough and knocked our drinks off the bill without us asking them to. Well looked after and a great spot to split a north / south journey or just to head to for a break.

This is my honest review of the Gretna Hall Hotel. A beautiful building in stunning, landscaped grounds. The bedrooms are not in the main building but in an annexe which is great but slightly tired. Our room was very compact, standard double bed which is strange in a 4* hotel, not much room to move about. The bathroom was small and the shower took, quite literally, ten minutes for hot water to come through. Having said that, our room was cleaned by Anna and was spotlessly clean. There were some stains on the carpet and some indelible marks on the walls. For the price, I would have expected a little more. The M74 was right next to the hotel but it didn't bother us as the windows blocked most of the noise and the road surface was very new and quiet. Moving on, the bar area was lovely with very nice, friendly staff. Usually it was absolutely chocka-bloc with wedding parties. The restaurant was clean and contemporary with wonderful service from Sophie, nothing was too much trouble no matter how busy she was, the food was very very good, so good in fact that I had the chicken ballotine (chicken wrapped in bacon and filled with haggis) two nights running. Service was timely. It was quite expensive but as we were there to get married, we didn't mind splashing out a bit. Breakfast was great, a young man, Alistair, was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. They went out of their way to get gluten-free toast for my wife-to-be. There was plenty of decent food, including haggis patties, and was hot and delicious. Overall, a great stay and experience but we would have liked a slightly larger room.

Staff didn't know menu options as the stated flavour arrived of starter was different choice/answer for soup starter, melon starter had to be asked for the coulis, roast had frozen yorkshire, meat was reheated & dey, menu offered roast of day & no choice was given. We had to ask for cutlery too after starters were delivered as the table service wasn't managed.

We had a poor experience with this hotel. Our room was at the end of the hotel, the shower didn't work properly and the water came out like a dribble. We had a notice on the window warning not to open it because of a bee hive outside and a broken hairdryer. We received no solution, no apology - just a shrug of the shoulders and well, we can't fix the shower because it's the weekend and we have to order parts. We definitely felt like we were shoved at the end of the hotel and given the worse room available because we didn't bring a wedding party with us. We weren't going to let the poor service at the hotel affect our stay though, we were there for our own handfasting ceremony and so decided to ignore the poor customer service. Even after they knocked on the door to complain that the extremely sensitive fire alarm had gone off. This happened because we had to run the shower for so long in order to get the soap out of my hair because of the dribble of water coming out of the shower, then couldn't open the window when using the hairdryer (that my husband had to get replaced). We explained carefully again the situation we were in and got nothing but an annoyed, 'well we can't do anything about it' response. For this reason, we do not recommend this hotel and will not be returning.

Stayed for 2 nights for a wedding, the location was good hotel lovely staff were brilliant, we had a meal in restaurant and it was really nice , the wedding next day was wonderful food was amazing and staff fantastic could not fault the day breakfast was also brilliant all you needed for a buffet breakfast all hot and well presented, only downfall was the rooms were very small and bathroom tiny we had a shower in the corner of our bathroom and my husband could just fit through the door to have a shower as doors only opened so far , so was quite disappointed with the size of room for the price (, it was a beautiful room) the toiletries supplied were really nice .the bride and groom had a suite and this was stunning .

I stayed in this hotel for a friends wedding 19/4/25. The room was nice and spacious with all facilities required. Unfortunately the cleanliness was disappointing. The carpet was dirty with several stains, there were dust parcels in the bathroom which had obviously accumulated over a long time, the grout around the shower was black in several places, there were old food stains on the edge of the table. This was the main let down. The staff were friendly.

Gorgeous hotel in a historic building. Always an air of jubilation as there are so many weddings going on! Rooms are spacious with plenty of amenities and the dining service is excellent. Staff very friendly and they kindly looked after our left behind teddy bear until we could retrieve it.

Absolutely loved our time here, we married in the coachhouse, and we stayed in suite 1. We had the best time, thank you.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a group for our son & his fiancées wedding. Whole experience was amazing - brilliant food and attentive staff who couldn't do enough for us.

Lovely setting for my Nephew's wedding

We live in Gretna and came for a Sunday dinner. I booked online as they do a set menu 2 or 3 courses for a certain amount. I booked for 7pm. I called to double check the set menu would still be available at 7pm & i was told it would. When we arrived i was told it wasn’t available. We ordered our food & were very disappointed. The oil in the fryer clearly needed changed so everything that was fried had a funny taste. My husband had the Steak & Haggis pie & there was hardly any steak in. The waitress was lovely & the restaurant is very nice just a shame the food let it down & the miss information.

We got married here on the 11th of January and it was perfect from start to finish, the staff were lovely and made you feel so comfortable. The bar area was so relaxing and the food was to die for in the restaurant area. We stayed in the queensbury Clayton room and it was absolutely stunning. From start to finish the whole wedding weekend was so relaxing thsnks to all the staff. Highly recommend

Loved it, staff fab, but drinks wow.... £25 for 2 gin and tonics . Room fine, and I feel £100 bed and breakfast was a good price. Breakfast was good too 😋

Lovely hotel with fantastic staff. Has been modernised under RAD in a tasteful way. The food was great and enjoyed one of their party nights also.

We married at Gretna Green Hotel (coach house) and stayed in one of the hotel's suites. All members were extremely helpful and professional. The organisation was superb and our day went without a hitch. The suite was excellent. The food was very good. The Hotel exceeded our expectations.

Booked for Christmas dinner weeks ago paid deposit chose from menu they put online, then last week they changed the menu, what kind of business does that? I’ll tell you what kind of businesses does that, the sort that doesn’t respect paying customers & it’s Not cheap, let’s see if they respond to my review because they don’t answer the phone ever 3 times I was put on hold for half an hour & never got to speak to anyone. Poor crack that.

We got married here in April and have returned for night away. April - service, wedding staff and service was perfect. (Marie or Maria is amazing - both visits) Returned today for dinner & overnight stay. Staff in bar, restaurant and night staff have been fantastic! Nothing is a bother. Thanks so much.

Fantastic hotel the staff are so lovely and kind and couldn't be more helpful. The hotel is absolutely beautiful with the most beautiful grounds. As its late nov they had the Christmas lights up and it was stunning. Also a bonus that its right next to the outlet! Thank you for having us, we will be back.

Myself and husband stayed here for a visit to Gretna for a shopping trip and we were not disappointed, beautiful clean rooms, amazing powerful shower, hotel and grounds are fab, the staff in bar wer lovely. All and all this place was the best we have stayed in a long time. Will definitely be back. Amazing value for money

We had our wedding at Gretna hall hotel and everything was great. All the staff are excellent and handled all our request with a smile on their face. We stayed in the queensberry suite which is in the old historic side of the building. It is a big room and was easy to get ready with 6 people in the room with makeup artist and hair stylish and photographer and we all had room. I wish the fridge was bigger and it can only stand a couple bottles in and it’s not deep to put a cake in. However if you have a wedding cake the staff take it off you and put it in their fridge. The bedroom is above the bar so at night you can hear the music go off in the background until midnight which is annoying but we wore earplugs and you couldn’t hear it. The room also didn’t have normal radiators it had air heating like aircon so that was loud when it was on, but it warmed up to the room pretty quick so we would turn it off once it was warm as that noise was annoying. The roll top bath in the bathroom was amazing. We both are tall and that fit is both in easy and the shower is massive. The bed is super comfy and all the extras are nice like robes and slipper, nice coffee machine are really nice. I would recommend Gretna hall for getting married for how great the staff was, all the food was amazing and the hotel was nice and historic. Parking is right outside the hotel. There is a different disabled entrance I think as I did see a disabled stair lift as they are stairs to the restaurant.

We celebrate our wedding day here yesterday it was amazing from start to finish we went for one of the wedding packages had civil ceremony just me my husband our daughter just the 3 of us which made it more special as family. The room was spacious the bed was so comfy if I could I would of brought it home 😂 . The food was amazing breakfast was really good we had meal in the restaurant the food & drinks was good the staff all went out of the way for us. And when we arrived on the Thursday lovely staff sat down talking to us about what was going to happening when we arrived on the Thursday just double checking though paper work making we was okay. On the day woundful staffed walked me & my daughter to the Coach House were we picked to have our ceremony to take place everyone was amazing our photographa ray was amazing too talk us though everything when taking the pictures just from start to finish amazing day would happily do it all over again 🥰 x

Visited to look at wedding venues staff brilliant

Got married at the coach house and it was lovely. Bianca couldn’t have been any better. The only downsides were we had to ask for our room to be cleaned on the wedding day three times . Other than that I had a lovely stay.

Eloped here and had a fantastic time. The elopment was amazing, with beautiful grounds and lovely, friendly staff. The room was nice, plenty of food and drink options. Only hiccup was that if you are stopping multiple nights, then your rooms aren't cleaned when you leave, but that was a minor blip

My husband and I got married here on 24.10.24. We brought both sets of parents and my brother to join our celebrations. We all loved Gretna Hall. It was a beautiful hotel. The room that we stayed in (Queensbury Suite) was perfect. It was very bright and spacious. All the rooms that were stayed in were clean and tidy. We had an evening meal in the restaurant the night before our wedding. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was excellent. We chose from fish and chips and lasagna. Personally I had the fish and chips and I thought it was amazing! The breakfast in the morning was amazing too. There was lots to choose from. Overall the hotel had a lovely vibe and was clean and tidy throughout. The majority of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately I have a few criticisms. When we arrived at Gretna Hall we were greeted by two receptionists who were going to check us in. One was very friendly but the other was quite rude to my family members. This was not a good first impression. The day we were leaving Gretna Hall we came across another staff member that was quite rude to us also. We had asked about getting our wedding cake back and he was very rude about this. We were told to ask him specifically about getting our cake returned to us but this seemed to be an issue for him. These criticisms are small compared to the lovely time that we all had. I would recommend Gretna Hall Hotel to anyone wanting to get married in Gretna Green.

Currently staying here for a work trip and just felt I had to leave a review for this lovely little hotel. The staff are lovely, the rooms are so spacious and comfortable, the food is exceptional, and the grounds are beautiful too. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a hotel stay so much! Will definitely be back!

Had a lovely time only one rude person on way to ceremony

Brilliant! Friendly staff, lovely room, and amazing breakfast 🙂😮 So often when you see the ready cooked and kept warm dishes your heart sinks - this was the exception. Bacon properly cooked, same with mushrooms (fried not boiled) everything wash fresh, hot and delicious, as if it had just been prepared individually by the chef!

We only visited the wedding location. We turned it into something fun with the group trip. We experienced a short ceremony and our alter egos, who were also witnesses, also took the opportunity to profile themselves.

The hotel and location were brilliant. Staff too were brilliant, minor hiccups sorted out immediately. Gentleman on the front desk was absolutely fantastic on the day we arrived. The only negative I have really is in warm weather, the rooms are unbearably hot and stuffy with no air con, so we had 2 nights with barely any sleep. Fans in the rooms might have been a small but good touch.

Decend rooms, but nothing special design-wise. Staff were great though, very friendly and gave me a cookie!

Got married here last week and loved every minute of it. We stayed for one night in the hotel. The room, the restaurant, the whole place was perfect. All of the staff were very friendly and really put you at ease. There was no stress whatsoever. We had a civil marriage ceremony in the cottage, and the registrar also put us at ease and explained the procedure. It felt very intimate having a small wedding and can highly recommend it to any couples looking to tie the knot in one of the most romantic places.

The room was spacious and well laid out, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the food was fantastic, very clean hotel, great staff and i will absolutely be coming back for a longer stay.

The rooms are quite acceptable. The waiter/waitress service in restaurant is good. The bar service is good but don't bother with the Gretna Green Ale.Historic building with a quaint garden

It was honestly the best day of my life. Thank you so much so everyone at Gretna for the most fantastic three days. The food was absolutely fantastic, the rooms were really lovely too. The only negative really was the DJ. We had a playlist for him (he had this in front of him) and he kept on deviating and ignoring requests. Also he turned off our last dance song half way through and put something else on. Other then that everything was amazing. Thank you

Staff polite and welcoming. Room was of a very large size with a very spacious en-suite with shower. Breakfast was very good and very filling.

The bed was one of the biggest and most comfortable I've ever slept in. The staff were exceptionally helpful, nothing was too much bother as long as the customers were happy and the food was great. The drink was very good as well.

Enjoyed the stay lovely food helpful staff first room allocated was in poor and smelly condition however when highlighted this to the reception we were given a much better alternative. It is very annoying when you turn up to a hotel for a break and you are allocated a poor standard room but thankfully it was resolved for us

Family wedding,the staff were amazing ,we had lovely food and were well looked after,nothing was to much trouble.Stewart the concierge was very helpful and even though he was very busy was always available if needed.

We married in the Famous Blacksmiths shop on 22/3/2024 and stayed here at the Gretna Hall Hotel for 2 nights. The room was lovely and clean with beautiful views. All the staff were very friendly and the service provided was excellent and the food was divine. We had a 3 course meal on both nights and my goodness was it all to perfection. Especially the 24 hour braised Scottish rump of beef, it was so tender that it literally came apart with hardly any effort. My husband and parents loved the Galloway marmalaide bread and butter pudding. I must also mention the breakfast which was definitely another highlight, having a self service full Scottish breakfast each morning being plentiful of choice and all cooked perfectly. My party of 6 were all very impressed with this hotel and we will definitely return ASAP. Thank you all so very much

We had our wedding ceremony there on 24th March at Gretna, could not fault the Hotel, all guests stayed over for 2 nights 20 and we had a super time❤️❤️ And the sun shone the whole day x

We got married here on Wednesday. Absolutely amazing. The staff were friendly, helpful, and so welcoming. Food was INCREDIBLE both dinner and breakfast was amazing! Room was very lovely and a great size. Clean and had a lovely bathroom. Comfortable bed etc. It's got lovely views and a great area to explore. Honestly couldn't have wished for a better day or stay. Thank you!

Went for a wedding fayre what a team of dedicated staff didn't manage appointment however they us feel very welcome and still manged to offer a planner in the end

Got married here the other day, guests and myself loved the food, staff from each team were absolutely brilliant start to finish & kind, well coordinated with drinks ready after the ceremony the meal and the evening buffet, dinner and announcements, room was clean. They took fantastic care of our cake with cold storage, cutting the top tier for us and wrapping & storing for check out. Only snag was the tv in the lounge of the suite had poor signal and we couldnt get the soundbar to work (we are young we arent bad with tech we tried everything we could and the makeup and hair team said theyve had same issues in that particular room) so we had to get ready to bbc 1 news which got turned off after a bit we didnt really have time to search for staff and see if they could resolve it and I didnt bother to just play music from my phone. The marriage room was wonderful, had a perfect day it just went so fast:(! The husband is already asking if we can go back on our 1 year wedding anniversary/11 years together. Breakfast was lovely, late check out accommodated, could not have asked for a better day!

This is the first time that I have been to this hotel, and it won't be the last.

Very Poor Service. Food is not great. Breakfast is at 7.30 but at 7.30 no hot food out and the Staff are very slow getting it out.

Came to Gretna Hall Hotel to stay for a few nights and ended up booking to get married. THAT is how beautiful this place is. The staff are great, the food is excellent and the rooms are so clean and comfortable. Also the grounds ... wow! Nothing but pure green! Absolutely beautiful. Lesley in the Gretna Wedding team is also an absolute star in helping us organise everything. She deserves a medal and James at the front desk has helped us book all the rooms we require and is just so lovely to talk to. I would give this place 10 stars if I could, 5 just isn't enough.
