First time at this pub for food and wasn't disappointed. Mal the chef has got to be the best chef around. Definitely recommend a meal out to this place 👌 🤤 thank u

Lovly hot night had burger chips lovly side salad and coleslaw 10 pound bargain lovly food once again my only negative is last time I had steak would like a pepper corn sauce obs I'd pay more but can't fault it excellent value

Visited the Coachman’s for the first time for a Father’s Day meal and we were not disappointed. The food was some of the best we’ve had when eating out and the portion sizes are very generous!! We had great service and the atmosphere was relaxed. We will definitely be back!!

Called in for the first time since new Management and the service we received was great. We opted for the Fishy Friday deal which was two fish and chip with peas and tartare sauce for £20. The size of the Cod was very generous and accompanied by a good size portion of freshly cut chips cooked until they were beautifully brown, just how I liked them. The fish came with a lovely crisp batter and the chips had a great taste which I think they must be a quality potatoes as sometimes you get no flavour chips. I also believe if you don’t like chunky freshly cut chips you can opt for fries instead. We also seen a couple of burgers come out which looked very good and a portion of freshly made onion rings which looked to die for. Both these plates went back empty hence assume they must have tasted very good also. Overall a very good experience that we will be doing again. Definitely worth giving this pub a try.

Last time I was here was approximately 16 year ago..changed for the better..we called in for the meals..we were not disappointed really good.

Happy pub....it was ...yesterday my pint was £3.20 today the same pint £3.80 18% +increase .. .. Not on. .they won't see me again and I have only been going there for 40 plus years

Food was ok, service not great- apparently they had a staff shortage. The staff who were working didn't seem too happy.

The food was decent, but mash and veg were not hot enough. Service was very good, all attentive and pleasant staff. It was quite loud, probably due to the Derby match.

Lovely meals, only one of group unhappy not much scampi on plate, but what was on was enjoyable this meal not value for money. Wouldn't stop us going back just wouldn't order scampi

Came here for a Christmas dinner with family, three course all cooked well but the cheese cake was the highlight of the meal.

Really disappointed in our food we had a Sunday Dinner you get Two little Roast potatoes the Mash & swede where cold hardly any meat and a bowl of over cooked veg. One of the worst Sunday dinners I've ever had if I'm being totally honest. The Yorkshire pudding was decent that was it

Brilliant service! 2 waiters I think their names were Kyle and Katie were particularly helpful and kind. The girl swiftly weeved in and out of tables with style like she’s been in this profession for 20 years. The family was impressed. Very professional.

Been here many times for the Sunday bait. Honestly one of the best in the area, I've had the beef, the lamb and gammon and they are all top notch. Plenty big portions too. Staff are always really welcoming and have abit of banter with you. Deffo recommended

The meal I had was absolutely gorgeous I had the gammon with hardly any fat to cut off. You had 2 large bits and the choice of pineapple or egg or both. Well worth it.

Stopped off for a spot of lunch yesterday, food was lovely and so much we couldn't finish it. I would definitely recommend to anyone, and we will certainly be visiting again. Kudos to the chef!!

Had a lovely family meal they catered for children,meat lover, vegan and vegetarian when we attended the food was reasonably priced. Portions sizes were average and everyone enjoyed their food and pudding.

I called in by off chance last Sunday, I had lunch it was really good, the best I've had in a long time, lovely food, lovely pleasant staff and great atmosphere, definitely going back, a little expensive but very much worth every penny.

Staff were nice, but not a lot of vegetarian options but the chips were very nice. Dog friendly pub, but means we had a dog constantly staring us down for scraps off our plates. To be fair to them though. if they had a separate area for dining cos we were in the bar bit, if there is of course we will go in there next time as I’m assuming no dogs will be allowed in that part.

Lovely pub, friendly and welcoming and good meal. 2 for £12 at lunchtime, excellent value. Definitely will be back more often

Attended a baby shower and my partner decided to have Sunday Lunch......FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD, beef melted in your mouth, vegetables cooked to perfection, fluffy roast potatoes and a classic, light crispy yorkshire pudding served by first class staff.......lovely surroundings and spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend and can't wait to return!!!!!

Service is very slow with a cue for drinks leading to the door. And glasses not being collected so having to use plastic cups…. Not very environmentally friendly

Tried it fir a bar meal, wasn't great, wasn't bad. If I was passing and hungry I'd pop in, but wouldn't go out the way to go there

We tried the Sunday lunch, but it was a disappointing experience. There were no mash potatoes available, at 4pm? How can you run out of mash, unless it's frozen? A starter of prawn cocktail consisted of prawns in sauce over a sad piece of lettuce. The main meal was poorly presented, with terribly overdone meat and watery vegetables. When charging over £11 for a main course, this is simply unacceptable. The staff are lovely, and it's a nice place for a drink, but won't eat there again.

would like to say a massive thank you for yesterday celebrated my sons christening everything ran smoothly the food was amazing which was tailored for what we wanted everybody commented on the food and the choice the staff were also nice and friendly we had such a great day and a lovely venue to thanks again and we will be back

We were forgotten about. When food eventually arrived chicken wings were under cooked and tasteless.

There were 4 adults and two children who visited for some food. The kids ordered light bites of calamari,chicken wings and hallumi fries. The calamari was rubbery, chicken wings, greasy and cold. Most of it uneaten.The men ordered gammon and fries. The gammon was overcooked and burnt. Unfortunately after this disaster we won't be back . On the plus side, the waitress was very cheerful.

Lots of outside space which is nice, inside is a bit lacking in atmosphere, but we were there on an afternoon, evenings may be better.

Nice estate pub recently refurbished. Lots of room in a modern setting, nice food a reasonable prices. Lots of seats outside for sunny days too! Enjoy. Now does breakfasts from 9 o'clock in the morning not all days. Pictures bacon and egg stottie and coachman breakfast.

Once, this pub was good community pub, a friendly meeting place. Then the powers that be, decided it was to be altered and opened up and became a commercial business, and it lost its personality. Also the drinks and food became expensive.

First trip to The Coachman since it has been taken over by new management. The staff were really welcoming and friendly (and also looked really smart). There was a good selection of alcoholic drinks and service was quick. The bar and toilets were really clean and, overall, my experience was a great one. I will definitely be returning with my husband and friends regularly. Hoping to make it our local!

Ok food although the roast beef was served incredibly rare and looked more like steaks, to the point our table was swimming with blood. You aren't provided with a steak knife so it was very tricky to eat. I don't mind beef like this but wasn't appropriate for the children. Veg all pretty beige and bland. Also we were told there wasn't any kids fish, so we ordered chicken nuggets then, chicken nuggets didn't actually come, they brought roast chicken and said sorry we don't have any nuggets left. We complained and asked for pizza instead she then said they've found some nuggets. Overall very bad service from start to finish. My one nugget of advice to take away - Avoid, gone massively down hill!

Fab night at a friend's engagement party the staff were amazing and very supportive when we waited 2 hours for a taxi let us back in for toilet fab place 🎉

We had Sunday lunch, the food was very nicely cooked, though my lamb was a little chewy as was my wife's beef. The service was very good.

Disappointing, very poor quality food ingredients, not cooked thourghly, i.e. hand cut chips "freshly prepared" - not! Scampi & fish dish over fried. Coffee not hot enough, very underwhelming & like the moon - no atmosphere, coupled with annoying noisy kids. Lackluster premium Whickham outlet which is meant to be a decent gastro pub not a children's cresh / library.

The Coachman had amazing food and all types of drinks for a low price, but it was very out of the way and you couldn't walk there. There was also lots of kids running about and although this isn't the pub's fault, they should have signs saying ' Don't let your children run about.'
